The Defect
Humanity, in its millennia-long journey of existence, had devoted itself to understanding and discovering the nature of reality. Yet physics had now fallen into crisis; scientific research had lost its multidimensional breadth, and confidence in theories describing nature was steadily waning. Science seemed to have hit a wall. Was this the end of an era or the beginning of a curious new one?
It all began at the Troggia Waterfall, nestled between the towns of Introbio and Vimogno in northern Italy’s Lecco region, where an anomaly first appeared. Four scientists, appointed by the United Nations for their expertise, were tasked with investigating it: an astroparticle physicist, a mathematician, a biologist, and a glaciologist. Their mission was to trace this anomaly, which later appeared to manifest in people’s personal lives as well, and to journey into the unknown to produce a report.
The local inhabitants of Introbio had long learned to live with this anomaly, and generations had grown up in harmony with it. They called it The Defect. Alongside the Defect, rumors concerning space and time had begun to circulate…
This quest, driven by the effort to study and comprehend it all, became a journey riddled with flaws, yet one that offered tantalizing hints toward the ultimate nature of reality.
"Kusur (The Defect) is a reality-bending anomaly located at the Troggia Waterfall in Northern Italy, representing a point where the traditional laws of physics collapse and the ultimate nature of reality is revealed. While scientific circles view it as a crisis of modern theories, local residents have lived in harmony with this phenomenon for generations, simply calling it "Kusur".
Kusur is a manifestation of mathematical perfection appearing as a defect to the limited human mind, serving as a gateway to the non-linear and non-simultaneous nature of the universe."

16 books2 followers1994 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. 2017 yılında İTÜ Fizik Mühendisliği bölümünden dereceyle mezun olan Burak Cem Coşkun, İsveç Kraliyet Teknoloji Enstitüsü’nde nötron yıldızları ve nükleer fizik alanında çalışmalar yaptı. Almanya’nın Bonn şehrindeki Friedrich Wilhelm Üniversitesi’nde teorik astrofizik alanında master yapmaktayken, Sabancı Üniversitesi’nde yüksek öğrenimine devam etmiştir. Çalışmaları süper-yoğun nötron süperakışkanıyla egzotik çekirdeklerin etkileşimi üzerine yoğunlaşmıştır. Yazar, Herkese Bilim ve Teknoloji dergisinde popüler bilim ve bilim tarihi yazıları yazmakta ve çizgi roman çevirileri yapmaktadır. Alfa Yayınları’ndan çıkan Feynman adlı çizgi romanın Türkçeye çevirisini gerçekleştirmiştir. KDY tarafından basılmış “Kusur”, “Işık Getiren”, “Bilim ve Şiir”, “Uglata” ve “Hayal Krizi & Gün’düşü Hikâyeleri” adlı bilimkurgu eserlerinin de yazarıdır. Bilimkurgu hikâyeleri çeşitli antolojilerde ve basılı seçkilerde yer almış, TPLondon tarafından yayınlanan, İngilizce dilindeki ilk Türk Bilimkurgu Hikâyeleri Antolojisi, “Anthology of Turkish Science Fiction Stories” kitabında “Trojan 137” adlı eseri ile yer almıştır. 2025’te bilim felsefesini konu alan iki dilli eseri “Doğa Üzerine ve Yönteme Karşı – On Nature & Against Method” adlı felsefi manifestosunu yayımlamıştır. Ayrıca "Mavi Anadolu'nun Canavarları - IYON 7" adlı bilimkurgu & fantastik evreninin yaratıcısıdır. Yapıtlarında sıklıkla fiziği şiirle buluşturarak bilimsel hayal gücünü edebi bir dille harmanlamıştır. Şiirleri de düzenli olarak “Yerli Bilimkurgu Yükseliyor” dergisinde yayınlanmaktadır.
