Traveling the world as one of the world’s top tennis player’s assistant should be the time of my life. Except Elias Johnson likes to make my life difficult just for the sake of it. Not to mention the annoying, no good, crush I’ve developed on him. I can’t help it. Even when he drives me insane there’s an underlying sweetness to him. But it’s not like I’m going to act on it.
It all blows up in my face though when he makes one mistake too many in the press. The result? His manager demands he clean up his reputation and for us to fake date. Now, we’re spending even more time together, and Elias is suddenly looking at me like he’s not pretending anymore.
Elias
I like to push things too far. Play hard and Party harder is my life’s motto.
It all blows up in my face, though, when my manager can’t deal with the bad press any longer and saddles me with a babysitter in the form of a fake girlfriend. I’m used to spending a lot of time with Whimsy, but now that we’re spending even more time together, I can’t help but want more.
I quickly realize there’s a lot more to my stuck up, pretty dress wearing assistant than what first meets the eye. She’s sweet and sexy and I can’t get enough. This thing between us is supposed to be temporary, but I’m not sure I want it to ever end. I just know I have to convince her to take a chance on me.
All I know is right now I have a six-month PR dating contract with the woman of my dreams and even less time to convince her that I deserve forever.
Micalea Smeltzer is an author from Northern Virginia. Her two dogs, Ollie and Remy, are her constant companions. As a kidney transplant recipient she's dedicated to raising awareness around the effects of kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant as well as educating people on living donation. When she's not writing you can catch her with her nose buried in a book.
HELLO???? This book is unbelievably good and I have been so excited for the second I finished Double Fault in December. Elias is THE man, he’s so swoon worthy and a very delicious kind of man. I love the fake dating trope and especially when it’s done the way it was done with Drop Shot. Whimsy is just the sweetest girl and I am wholeheartedly obsessed with everything about her.
Micalea wrote this tennis romance so amazingly and I love how she took this playboy kinda smug side character and made everyone fall in love with him and showed he’s so much more than what we originally thought he was like. Also a thing I adored about Drop Shot was how well Elias and Whimsy knew each other and how Whimsy could read Elias like a book. This book was also very slow burny and I live for that!!!
The story overall flows very well and I kept catching myself not being able to stop reading this book. It was such a great story with strong and meaningful characters who deals with each their own issues and it shines light on important aspects such as chronic illness. Elias is so supportive and wants to do anything to help Whimsy out and he’s really protective of her also. Both of these characters are really captivating and the both books in this series too.
Thank you Micalea for my ARC!
🩵 What to expect: — workplace romance — fake dating — tennis romance — boss x assistant — she falls first, he falls harder — chronic illness rep — sports romance — reformed playboy
Elias and Whimsy are absolutely everything!! I really enjoyed this story for so many reasons, mainly being the chemistry between these two characters. Once I started Drop Shot I literally couldn’t put it down. The story flows very well and I found myself wanting to keep reading (which is the best part of starting a new book). Micalea Smeltzer continues to write great stories that are equally captivating. These type of characters mean so much to me and to finally read their story has been amazing. I loved reading their POVS and getting to know them more in depth.
All in all, Drop Shot is a great story that I highly recommend and will definitely be rereading soon!
Listen....come sit down. When I received Double Fault, I absolutely devoured it and when it was finished, I messaged Micalea and begged for the next book! I will forever drop everything any time she sends me anything and this was no exception. I love that she took a smug side character and then made us fall in love with him. Add in the banter and tension between these two and it was ::chefskiss::
What you'll get: 🎾Sports Romance 💜Fake Dating 🎾He’s a professional Tennis Player 💜Chronic Illness Rep 🎾The cutest cat named Craig
Now...if you need me, I'm gonna go be obnoxious and beg for book 3! ;)
anyone that knows me.... knows I absolutely LOVE a fake dating trope. this book was no different. I fell in love with the characters and their struggles, but watching them learn life together, and become closer in a way neither thought would ever happen, it was done so beautifully. Whimsy, amid health issues, learns to trust and be open... while Elias is realizing he is much more than a rich playboy.
and even though they get thrown together in a way they didn't see coming, the two of them make the most of it and find their person along the way.
I genuinely love mica leas books and writing and I am SOOOOOOO looking forward to book 3.
Drop Shot is book two in the On The Court series by Micalea Smeltzer. This is a fake relationship between professional tennis player Elias Johnson and his assistant Whimsy Allen. We follow them pretending they are dating as he plays tournaments around the world. She thought her biggest weakness in life was designer fashion and handbags but it turns out to be Elias.
Elias is known as the bad boy of tennis. He has had issues in his last few matches and has been seen out clubbing. Elias knows he’s in a rut and is struggling with his losing streak. His manager Jackson comes up with a crazy plan to help repair his reputation, a fake relationship with Whimsy, his assistant for the last four years. Whimsy is very important to him because she runs his life, takes care of him and has regularly saved him from awkward situations. He was attracted to her at first but wouldn’t jeopardise things as she was exceptional at her job. Jackson is going to release to the media they are now dating to generate some good publicity for Eiias.
Poor Whimsy is in shock but agrees as she has a reason for needing the money. However, she’s worried about how she is going to cope as she has a secret crush on him. He is insufferable and annoying but she actually likes him. She will stop doing her job and put all her efforts into being the perfect girlfriend. They must pretend they love each other and give the impression that Elias is settling down. She finds it weird making the transition from him being her boss to boyfriend.
Neither have much experience in having a relationship so it’s fun following them working things out. It was so amusing how her cat Craig likes him and his obsession with her. I loved how he had actually listened and taken more notice of her than she thought. The banter is great, he is so funny and loves teasing her especially as she blushes when he makes inappropriate comments. It was nice they develop a real friendship and that he’s sorry she’s got coerced into the fake relationship. They both hate lying to their families as they are both close to them.
I felt the author addresses Whimsy’s chronic illness extremely well and showed both the mental and physical side of living with Lupus. I was so pleased Elias supported her and understood why she got angry when her body betrays her and doesn’t work how it should.
Everything is so easy with him that she has to remind herself none of it is real. He shocks her by being such a good fake boyfriend. Feelings between them are growing, she is desperately trying not to fall for him and Elias knows he’s in trouble because she’s turned him upside down. The more Elias is with Whimsy, the more he realises how lonely his life has been.
I really laughed when he confides in Noah which allowed Noah to get his own back on Elias after all the teasing in book one. Noah’s suggestion certainly stirs things up and Whimsy shocks Elias with her reaction making him think he’s not the only one forgetting they are fake. It was also funny when he starts to love being at her apartment and gets very protective of her. Then when she admitted he was hot in an interview and he makes the most of her confession. I also burst out laughing at their antics to get revenge on Ebba and her boyfriend.
He’s so sweet with some of his actions especially the little thoughtful things he does, the way he looks after her on hr bad days and the Brachiosaurus!! My heart went out to Elias when he opened his heart to Whimsey at the nightclub. Will she give him a chance or will it just complicate things if they get intimate?
The romance was sweet and they turned out to be great for each other. He has lots of ups and downs with his matches and a traumatic incident affects them badly but it allows him to show how much he cares for her. Then an event puts his career in the balance. I did feel it was a shame there were some mistakes relating to the tennis parts but overall it was enjoyable and entertaining story. I am hoping the next book will be Ebba and Fisher as she needs a good man after Keaton.
I read an ARC of the first book in this series and I absolutely loved it, so I was really excited to read this book! I received an ARC of this book and I started reading it straightaway! After reading, I can say that I loved this book just as much as the first book! The plot only took me a few sittings to read because I didn’t want to put it down and it developed at the perfect pace! There was also a lot in it and it kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! There was a lot of romance in the plot and it was the main focus! I loved the romance and the way it developed! It allowed for some steamy scenes and lots of sexual tension between the main characters too! There was also a bit of action and suspense, which added to the plot and made me enjoy it more! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Whimsy was the main female character, and I was really happy that this book was hers because she was an intriguing character in the first book! In this book she suffered with lupus which did impact her life! I loved Whimsy and she was supportive of her love interest and didn’t complain about what she was asked to do! Elias was the main male character and love interest of Whimsy! Elias was a famous tennis player who was a bit down on his luck! He was struggling with his tennis and wasn’t sure what to do! Whimsy helped Elias and she gave him hope again! Elias was also protective of Whimsy and helped her with her lupus and taught himself about it and how to best help Whismy! This book was written from both Whimsy and Elias’s point of views! I was sort of expecting this book to be written this way because the first book was written from dual point of view and the synopsis gives the impression that it’s going to be! I loved that it was written this way because it helped me connect more with both characters and see how they really felt about each other! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, which helped as they were both going through their own situations and they didn’t spend every second of the plot together! I now can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I’m excited about who the main characters are going to be and I can’t wait to read their story! I’ll definitely be anticipating the next book’s release and reading it as soon as it does! I also love the cover for this book a lot! I love how well it suits the cover for the first book and it would draw me to the book! I love how well the cover image suits the characters of Whimsy and Elias! Big thank you to Micalea for an ARC of Drop Shot!
I would say this book had a really moving impact on me. Both Elias and Whimsy, and their story, were incredibly motivating, especially in the way they fiercely faced their adversities. It was captivating and engaging from start to finish.
It also showed a really good portrayal of what it's like to live with a chronic illness. And the sports elements felt very consistent and realistic to me as well.
Reading that honestly felt like seeing my exact thoughts in someone else's head, and this is exactly why chronic illness representation in books is so incredibly special. Seeing the things we feel every day put into words - and finally looking at them from the outside - almost makes me want to give myself a hug.
Structure wise, the book balances perspectives really well, which is something I always appreciate in a dual POV. It's easy to follow and flows smoothly, the events - both personal and career wise - are well organized, the tension between them builds naturally, the emotions feel real and the pacing works really well. And the smut was phenomenal.
The writing style is clear and easy to read, giving us vivid visuals of the plot and characters at every moment. It had me on the edge of my seat during tense scenes, clutching my e-reader during the more emotional ones and smiling at the sweeter moments. I was rooting for the MCs from the very first chapter.
Do chech the content notes, as there are some more sensitive and potentially triggering scenes. That said, they're handled with care and sensitivity.
Drop Shot is the second book in Micalea Smeltzer's On the Court series, and while I personally think Double Fault (book one) is still my favorite, this was a genuinely cute read that I'm glad I picked up.
The setup is classic: fake dating, forced proximity, a slow burn that you can see coming from a mile away but enjoy every step of anyway. What makes it work is the two leads themselves.
Elias is a pleasant surprise. Coming into this book, I expected the flirty playboy we glimpsed in Double Fault, but Smeltzer does a great job of peeling back his layers. He's sweet, caring, and grounded in what matters to him. Underneath the charm is someone who is fiercely loyal and genuinely devoted to the people he loves. If you're looking for a male lead who is mostly green flags, Elias is your guy.
Whimsy is just as interesting and honestly deserves more credit than her love of high fashion might suggest. She's polished, ambitious, and fiercely independent. She's the kind of woman who has worked hard for everything she has and takes real pride in it. What I loved most is how much she struggles with the shift in her role because she was genuinely great at her job, and stepping away from that isn't easy for someone so driven. Watching her figure out who she is as a girlfriend is one of my favorite parts of her arc.
Together, Elias and Whimsy balance each other out in ways that feel earned rather than convenient.
My one wish is that we could have seen more of their working dynamic before the shift to fake relationship. I think that foundation would have given some good contrast to other parts of the story. But overall, it's a warm, sweet read with two leads who are genuinely worth rooting for.
Micalea has send it to me again. I loved the first book in the series and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. I’ve always been a fan of fake dating books because it always ends up fake and then gradually becomes something real in this book was no different.
Elias is a professional tennis player and he’s known to be somewhat of a playboy partier and so he causes too much drama for his manager. His manager then tells him that he needs to clean up his act in the public view so he demands that he starts dating his assistant Whimsy. Elias just thinks that this is going to be a six month thing and so he realizes that what he’s needed all along was Wednesday. He just hopes that he could get her to realize that they’re good together.
Whimsy has always had a crush on Elias, but she has never acted on it but it’s very hard to not let it show that she has a crush on him. The last thing Whimsy was expecting was to enter a fake dating relationship with Elias.
These two were absolutely perfect for each other. Elias thought he had it all, but realized that he was lonely and that he wanted Whimsy and she had been right in front of him and he never even realized it. They were very protective over each other and they really did bring out the best in each other.
One thing that I love about Micalea‘s books isP she writes a character with a chronic illness she legit does her homework and ends up making you really feel for the character and what they’re going through and this was no different with whimsy dealing with lupus.
I’m excited to see where the series is going to continue to go.
After reading Double Fault I couldn't wait for this second installment! I jumped right back into the On the Court world. I really enjoyed and adored this story so very much!
Whimsy and Elias's journey drew me in right from the beginning! Elias is a professional tennis player and Whimsy is his assistant. Elias needs a better reputation and that's where Whimsy comes in. As the two begin fake dating, could it lead to the realest thing of all for Elias and Whimsy?
I quickly didn't want to turn away from Elias and Whimsy and their story. I really enjoyed the fake dating of it all and how it brought them closer together. Whimsy and Elias had me falling right along with them!
Whimsy and Elias were navigating things in their lives and I was so glad I got to dig deeper with them. The back and forth banter between these two was too good! Their chemistry was the best.
Both Elias and Whimsy got right to my heart! They truly got each other and were there for one another which was so beautiful to see. Whimsy and Elias had me feeling all the feels from beginning to end!
I also must mention Craig! She was the cutest cat.
I was so happy to be back in this world and get more of it's characters and tennis!
With Drop Shot, Ms.Smeltzer has created such a fantastic fake dating romance that got right to my heart! I loved and appreciated the chronic illness rep so much. 💜🎾
I can't wait for the third On the Court book! Dive into this series today!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
Drop Shot : On The Court Series Book 2 ) well it’s official, I’m obsessed just completely and utterly obsessed and in love with this absolutely amazing series and we’re only on book 2 ) A Fake Relationship that very quickly turns into so much more . I loved the progression of Elias and Whimsy’s relationship, I loved how likable and relatable both were . Whimsy was such a great heroine and oh how I genuinely felt for her . She’s such a sweetheart, a little bit sweet and innocent but underneath it all she has this strength, because her life has definitely not been easy . And our hero Elias - at first glance he comes across as someone who has it all - a career he loves , family and friends, he could pretty much have his choice of any woman he wants . But underneath that facade , he realizes he’s truly unhappy, that there’s something in his life missing, maybe it’s love , an emotional connection, someone to share his life with . These two were so adorable together. The way Elias was by Whimsy’s side supporting her through her struggles with her health , how protective he was of her and the littlest ways he showed her he cared . Add into that the insane chemistry, the angst , the humor , the witty banter , the moments that will pull on all your heartstrings and just wreck you and then others you’ll be smiling, laughing and cheering so freaking hard . This love story , this series truly is chefs kiss 💋
I loved this book so much! Maybe even more than Double Fault, if that’s even possible!
Elias Johnson is a tennis superstar with a bit of a reputation. In an effort to clean up his image, his manager comes up with a plan for him to date his assistant, Whimsy. It’s supposed to be a six-month contract but unbeknownst to him, she’s had a crush on him since the moment she met him.
Elias is hot, but Whimsy is too! She’s gorgeous and smart and knows Elias better than anyone else. She’s kept it professional while working for him, but her crush hasn’t gone away. They get along famously well, and the more time they spend together, the more Elias begins to notice her. PDA and photo ops turn into something more and the lines between a fake relationship and a real one begin to blur.
Prior playboy Elias now only wants one woman, and she was right under his nose the whole entire time. The chemistry between them is off the charts and man, all of the angst and longing! I was so happy when they finally got together. Elias and Whimsy were absolutely perfect for each other! Loved all the spice, how caring Elias was with Whimsy, and of course the chronic illness rep.
The book was such an enjoyable read! It was exactly what I needed and I loved it so much! I hope Fisher and Ebba get a book next! A girl can wish, right? 5⭐️
Thank you so much, Micalea, for the eARC. All opinions are my own! 💕
I don’t know how, but I loved this even more than Double Fault! This story follows Elias, the main rival of Noah’s from Double Fault. I honestly liked him quite a bit in that book, despite his cockiness. But Elias in Drop Shot? Perfection.
I absolutely love a fake dating trope and this o e was done so right. The slow burn kept me reeling, looking forward to the moment these two idiots realized the only thing keeping them apart was themselves.
The way that Elias gives all of himself when he lives is just so sweet. And his ability to care for Whimsy is her worst moments was melting.
I loved how soft Whimsy was. She was so feminine, and wholeheartedly herself. I love a strong fmc as much as the next girl, but it’s so refreshing to see a feminine woman who is in touch with her soft side. Not written as weak, written as acknowledgement that all women are different. Micalea writes chronic disease better than anyone I’ve read, her understanding of those situations makes it feel so real for the readers.
This was such an overall sweet book. Definitely one to pick up!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I went into this thinking it’d be a quick cute sports romance, but the instant chemistry between Elias and Whimsy?? Yeah… I was locked in. That whole “we probably shouldn’t do this. Even though the world think we are” energy just does something to me every time, and this absolutely delivered.
What I really liked is how their relationship builds. It’s not instant, it’s not perfect, and there’s this constant pull between doing the right thing and giving in to what’s clearly there. You can feel that shift happening between Elias and Whimsy, and it kept me turning pages without even realising.
The banter, the feels, the moments where things almost cross the line… I was eating it up. And when it finally does shift?? Worth it. It’s got that mix of sweetness, emotion, and just enough drama to keep things interesting without feeling over the top. I ended up flying through this and reading it in half a day.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I LOVE Elias and Whimsy! These two were absolutely adorable.
It took a fake relationship for Elias to not only see Whimsy but to also see that he was lonely. Yes he had the career he loved. But he wasn't happy. I loved how he instantly fell in love with her cat and wanted to constantly come hang out with her and Craig.
Whimsy was so sweet and innocent. I loved her. I also felt for her. She was suffering so much all by herself. That just proved to me how strong she was.
One of the things I loved the most about this story was that there wasn't any crazy angst or other people interfering in their relationship. It was just a true wholesome love story and I loved it. Yes it had its naughty bits and there was plenty of educational tennis learning.. lol I know nothing about tennis. But it was the perfect love story for Elisa and Whimsy.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*
This was a 2-2.5 for me and I enjoyed the first book more.
I think my favorite thing and this book was learning the cat was a girl within the first few chapters. I legitimately laughed at that.
Gosh, Whimsy is annoying as all hell for the first 85% of this. Then she keeps telling Ebba that she can open up and tell her anything… all while she’s lying to her and withholding information. Girl, go on somewhere.
I’ll never understand why men are written to be perfect in every imaginable way, while the women question everything they’re told and can hardly communicate. I get that we love a strong man who communicates well, but goodness, it’s okay for the woman to have sound judgment too.
Ebba leaves the room or cuts Whimsy or Elias off anytime one of them mentions sex, which is fair since Ebba and Elias are twins. Ebba then proceeds to have loud ass sex with her dusty ass boyfriend in the room next to her brother. Huh? It was weird. I have a twin brother, and just… no.
"I think I might be so gone for this girl and it terrifies how fast it’s happened."
Elias is a professional tennis player. He's also a playboy and a bit of a hot head on the courts. In order for him to reset his reputation his manager proposes that Elias fake date his assistant. Everyone else will think the relationship is real and it will help Elias become more loved with his fans. The only problem is that Whimsy, his assistant, has always had a crush on Elias. Soon the two are trying to make their relationship more believable to the cameras. And lines begin to be blurred. I absolutely loved Elias! ALL the green flags! There is nothing this man wouldn't do for his girl. I love fake dating and this book did not disappoint. It was the perfect balance of sweetness, swooning and spice.
This series has been amazing!! Drop Shot was the second book in Micalea’s On The Court series. It can be read as a stand-alone if needed but it’s better to read in order. It was sweet, sassy, and full of heart!
Elias definitely liked to have a good time but it was slowly costing him his career. His manager finally had enough and decided to make his assistant his new fake girlfriend. Luckily, Whimsy agreed to go with the plan but when feelings started to get in the way could they keep up the farce?
These two were so cute together!! Loved watching them find their way the longer they pretended!! Elias may have had a temper on the court but he was such a sweetie off of it. And Craig!! Awe!!! I really didn’t want this to end but am looking forward to the next book and glimpses of these two!!
4.5 for this well matched pair. After reading book #1 - Double Shot, I was extremely excited to jump into this one from Micalea Smeltzer. Whimsy and Elias are forced to pretend that they are a couple which wasn't a hard stretch as she was his assistant for a couple years so there always appeared to be a possible connection. Of course, now that they are forced into even closer quarters than normal and Whimsy's cat Craig loves Elias, they discover that they know more about each other and are actually drawn to each other. This story is romantic, sweet, and will make your heart leap at the idea that there is still some good in the hearts of those who appear to be more of a playboy without regard for the feelings of others. Okay, I am so ready for tale #3. review by C. Seymour - blogger
It will be impossible to not love Elias, I dare you to try. 🥰
Micalea has given us another great story with a good man, he sets that bar high without even trying, he always goes that extra mile and does the little things that mean everything. Making it impossible for Whimsy to not fall for him.
What starts as a “fake relationship” swiftly morphs into real feelings, but Micalea makes us wait for them to come together. What she does do is give these two a moment to realize their feelings before they jump right in, but once they do, they do it well. 😏
This is the second book in this world, and I love it so much. Her characters are dimensional, she shows their vulnerabilities in a honest way making them seem real. I can’t recommend this book and this series enough, do not miss this one!
• About the Book • ✿ POV: dual ✿ Couple: Elias & Whimsy ✿ Tropes: pro tennis player x assistant, heroine with a chronic disease, fake dating, forced proximity ✿ Trigger warnings: no
• Thoughts • Elias and Whimsy might be one of my favorite romance reads in a while. Their connection was so pure and sweet that my heart couldn’t take it. The way Elias would take care of Whimsy secured his spot as one of the best book book boyfriends to exist. And Whimsy? I loved her too. She was such a strong female lead, and I’d love to have a best friend just like her. Seriously cannot recommend this book enough!!

I'm kinda neutral when it comes to reading a fake dating trope, its either really good or just not. Either way I didnt know what to expect but I absolutely love Micalea so I gave it a chance and I absolutely loved it.
Loved Whimsy she is such a steong FMC and was so curious to see Elias character after reading the first book. Only 4.5 stars cos they took forever to get together imo and she kept putting herself down boo. Otherwise loved it.
Okay Ebba and Fishers book better be next and I just know its gonna be good. Poor Ebba really felt for her in this book
Wow, just wow! Elias and whimsy are a match made in heaven. The fact that they’ve known each other for so long gives them a solid foundation. They know each other‘s quirks and eccentricities. The story is so heartwarming and compelling I couldn’t put it down. Never thought I’d want to read about tennis, but this series has given me a whole different look into the game. I love the way Elias listens and cares for whimsy when she needs him. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book of the series. I’ve fallen in love with everyone of the characters, of course except Traeger. Hope we get to see his consequences. Hurry Michaela, we need more!
Drop Shot is the second book in the On The Court series by Micaela. I truly enjoyed Noah and Sabrina’s book which was a sweet romance and I was excited to see there was more on the way. We get glimpses of Elias and Whimsy in that first book but in their own story they beautifully shined. These two embark on a fake relationship to help Elias’ image and from there we see a romance bloom. Elias and Whimsy were adorable together and really enjoyed being around each other. Their interactions were fun and sweet and sexy. I loved how Elias was there for Whimsy and how much he wanted to take care of and just be there and the same for Whimsy for Elias. Just a great couple- loved them together. I did like how we got more of Sabrina and Noah as well as Foster and Elias’ twin sister Ebba. The girl friendships was golden and the boys camaraderie was just great. I enjoyed seeing Elias’ and Whimsy’s relationship progress and just the banter and interactions that they had together was overall terrific. I also enjoyed seeing them grow as individuals – each made the other better. Drop Shot is a feel good happy romance that just hit you in the feels and makes you smile. I’m excited for the next book in the series because I know it’s just gonna be just as great.
I really enjoyed thos book and Micaela never disappoints!! This was a fake dating/slow burn beteeen a professional tennis player and his assistant. I loved that things weren’t always easy for Elias just because he was famous and had money. There were big things he had to face as well as consequences for his actions. I loved how Whimsy was by his side through all of it. They were perfect for each other!! I think it was pretty much set up that Ebba and Fisher will be the next book, or at least that’s what I’m hoping!!

Elias and Whimsy’s chemistry was on point! All Elias needed was a little bit of Whimsy to help him with his tennis woes.
Fake dating is always a really fun trope. I really loved how this pair worked their way through the bumps in the road and learned more about each other over time. Honestly, just living… life.
Whimsy felt relatable as even I still struggle with being open, vulnerable and trusting amongst even the closest of family. The tension was off the charts, and I struggled to put this book down.
This is Book 2 in the On the Court Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is an off limits workplace romance between tennis player Elias and his assistant Whimsy. These likeable characters and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. It is a sweet love story with drama and steam, humor and charm, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters. An engaging page turner.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I had such a good time reading Drop Shot. Whimsy and Elias have this chaotic, funny, irresistible chemistry that pulled me in right away. Their fake‑dating setup is messy in the best way, and watching Elias slowly drop his wild‑boy act and actually care was honestly adorable. Whimsy is easy to love, and their banter made me smile the whole time. The tennis world, the travel, the tension—it all just works. It’s one of those romances you fly through because you don’t want to put it down. This book is awesome, and I genuinely loved it.
