She was collateral. He was meant to collect. When Royal’s fiancé trades her to settle a debt, she’s delivered to the most feared man in Ashland. She braces for cruelty, for punishment, for everything the rumors promise. What she doesn’t expect is Oath Kreed. A crime lord who doesn’t break her. Who studies her. Who sees the steel beneath her fear and decides he wants all of it. Three months. That’s the contract. Three months in his world, under his rules, inside his control. But Oath doesn’t want obedience. He wants her fire. Her resistance. Her choice. And the deeper Royal falls into his orbit, the more she realizes the real danger isn’t his power. It’s the way he makes her want to stay.
Who would’ve thought that you would be used as collateral for someone else’s debt! The universe has other plans than the ones you think are in place. Everything happens for a reason. Let’s chat!
Royal got played like a fiddle by her fiancé Cannon. But how she handled the situation was top tier 🤏🏾🤏🏾. Plus Oath wasn’t the 2 nor the 1 to play with. At first I thought he was just mean and rude, but he was actually very calculated and ran a tight ship. One thing for sure, he wasn’t coming off Royal anytime soon🤭. Though the connection wasn’t ideal, it ended up working for them and it was beautiful 🥰. He never thought he would or needed his person but one look at Royal told him otherwise. Then Royal, my girl was just confused at first but as time went on, she was ready for it all including Oath. My girl just stop fighting them feelings 🤭! They both helped each other in their own way. He assisted her with knowing her worth and putting herself first. She shown him that he didn’t have to have on his hard shell at all times.
This was a beautiful read. Now there were some repetitive part but it doesn’t take away from the read or storyline. This author is new to me and I plan to read more of her work.
Oath definitely stood on business 💪🏿. As a morally gray, calculated crime lord, he’s sharp around the edges, but when Royal is given to him as collateral damage by her fiancé, he handles her with so much care and intention. That contrast is what made the romance irresistible to me. I really loved their dynamic. My only wish is that the story had spent more time building tension before they fell head over heels so quickly.
The plot was there! It was missing depth and description. Some scenes felt rushed. I really was hurt we didn’t get to watch the get back on the men that tried to kidnap royal. Oath was a problem and it would have been nice to witness more of his menacing side. The end with the engagement and wedding rings had me utterly confused. I enjoyed the plot very much so, it was the filling that needed tweaked. Decent quick read tho.

Savage Oath delivers exactly what you’d expect from a dark mafia romance intensity, danger, and a morally gray hero but it doesn’t always rise above the genre’s familiar patterns.
The strongest part of the book is Oath Kreed himself. He’s written with a controlled menace that makes his quieter moments more compelling than his violent ones. His interest in Royal feels more layered than simple possession, and that added some emotional weight to their dynamic. Royal also has moments of strength and defiance that keep her from feeling completely passive, which I appreciated.
The chemistry between the characters is solid, but it didn’t always feel as deep or transformative as the story seemed to promise. The emotional payoff was decent, just not as powerful as it could have been.
An enjoyable read for fans of dark romance, especially if you like possessive anti-heroes and contract tropes. While it didn’t completely blow me away, it kept my interest enough to finish and left me curious about what comes next.
This was good. Short, intense at times, and well-written.
I didn't know what to think of Oath at first. He was as ruthless as he was handsome. He was overwhelming, intense, and downright scary at times. But Royal brought out the soft lover boy in him.
I appreciated that he showed her all sides of him and gave her a choice (somewhat) to stay. Royal wasn't a punk no matter how mad she was at Cannon for offering her up to cover his debt, or at Oath for calling in the debt. She stayed the course and fell in love.
She became exactly who she was supposed to be. Great story!
I enjoyed this collateral Romance novella. We got to meet Royal and Oath. Royal was a Baker focused on her business with a fiancé who was doing the bare minimum. Oath ruled Ashland with an iron fist. When Royal is given to Oath as collateral by her fiancé Cannon, it sets off a chain reaction that will see Royal and Oath find out there's more to this arrangement than meets the eye.
Royal was engaged to Cannon, who had borrowed money from a kingpin and couldn’t repay in cash.. so instead, he offered his fiancé Royal to repay his debt to Oath.. Oath agreed to this agreement as Royal would be his for the next 3months, all inclusive.. what started as a bargaining piece, ended up being a real connection between the two. He believed in her dreams and helped expand her bakery and she brought love in his life.
Oath was strict but lenient. Which is how he took that man fiancé 😂 Him wanting to help ppl succeed made me see him in a new light. Royal finally bringing her vision to life. Oath & Royal fell in love. Everything moved fast but this was a novella.
I did notice that chapters 15 & 17 have almost the exact same wording for the first 2 paragraphs. I’m not sure if that was done intentionally or not.
"Too many birds on the ground and not in the sky"😭 Should've dnfed, but it was too short not to finish. Shortest and worst book I've read this year, this book was soooo unrealistic.
This is my first time reading from this author, and I am completely unimpressed- I can't even put that into words. Between the one-dimensional characters, repetitive scenes, and flat and empty dialogue, I'm hard-pressed to even believe that this was a published novella and not someone recounting pieces of a dream they had the night before.
DNF THIS BOOK AT 80%, TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT I TRIED. I don't believe in giving authors one star unless they commit unthinkable actions, but if I could give this book one star, I would!
If you like forced proximity and the kidnapping trope, then this is the book for you.
Imagine your fiance owes a huge debt to one of the most ruthless crime bosses, and instead of working to pay him back, he offers you up for 3 months as collateral. You have the option to be under his control for 3 months, or he gets it back in blood literally. Read this story to see what decision Raegan makes when Cannon commits the ultimate betrayal. This story is short, sweet, and extra spicy.
This is my first read by this author… it was a quick read of course NOVELLA so straight to the point but a little repetitive at times and not as in-depth as I would have hoped…
Royal was just living her life when her ex used her as collateral. She had no clue what she was getting into. It’s crazy because she ended up with the happy ending and falling in love with her captor.
This was short and straight to the point. Oath didn’t play he made sure to let Royal know who was in charge. She tried to fight it for a minute but she and Oath both knew that she needed him to bring something out of her. He definitely pushed her and made her better
3.75 stars! Imagine your punk ahh husband owes a debt but can't pay! His only other option is you! THE MF NERVE! You start to see a side of your new "man" that nobody knows. Is this love ? Are you really safe? This book was good. Straight to the point! I loved how Oath challenged Royal in all the ways she wanted to chase her dreams! Everybody deserves a little Savage!
This book started off crazy , with Cannon , and owing money to Oath . This story ended beautiful. I was so happy for Royal and Oath . I hope it will be a part 2 .
Sooo your fiancé sells you and your captor pushes you to be the best version of yourself. Oath and Royal…whew. Those 2 were hot from the jump. Royal was trynna keep her distance but Oath was knocking those walls down…literally 😏🙃😉 Oath poured into Royal in a way she’s never experienced. When she said ‘take me home’ that first time…I knew it was a wrap lolll he had her! Chosen is a, new to me author, annnd this was an amazing introduction. I can’t wait to read more from their catalog.
It was a great book to read…I enjoy this novella, but I feel like i’ve read this book/story before. Furthermore, it was a little rushed. not a lot of details. However, I still enjoyed it! Its something to read if you want a quick read!
So the story started off, kind of chaotic and crazy. But I was really happy that Royal got her happy ending and got everything that she dreamed of and deserved. Oath is very unhinged but he is cheating her right.
Fast paced insta love story. Wished we were able to get Oaths POV instead of only Royals. At times it was hard to determined who was speaking due to no line breaks in the text. But overall I enjoyed their love story.
This book had so much potential but it fell flat. I HATE giving low ratings and critiquing an authors work because they worked hard on their craft. With that said, this book had a lot of issues for me.
1. The characters have no depth, no development and I read the entire book and still don’t understand them.
2. Several Inconsistencies: I’ll just mention two. They were in the bed after having sex. Oath gets out the bed and they’re having a conversation. Then he’s magically back in the bed pulling her close. Huh? Did he teleport?
Another scene, he ask her to marry him and gives her a ring. A few scenes later is a dinner scene. Path mentions he wants her friends at their wedding. Royal says “…you keep mentioning marrying me, are you sure?” He replies build your business and then we’ll talk about “rings and forever.” He already proposed and gave her a ring! What is there left to discuss about it? It reads as if they weren’t already engaged.
I could go on but I don’t want to drag it. Again, good premise. I love a good forced proximity, held against your will to lovers book. This one just fell flat for me.

Very good short story, one mans collateral is another man’s forever. It’s nothing like finding out the man you have spent 2 years with can try and bargain you off.
Quick & fast paced. I enjoyed it for what it was. Royal folded fast as hell for Oath 😂 but I ain’t mad at it! Oath was not to be played with & she knew that 🤪
I know that this was novella but if this was longer… would have been fire because we could’ve really seen their love develop. Other than that it was good!
