I claimed the title of Dominant Dragoness from my mother—and I didn't have to kill her for it.
But that's where the easy victories end.
Year two at Dragonis Academy brings a storm I'm not sure I'm ready for. The Gauntlet. Classes with enemies who still want me dead. And looming over it all—the Great Gathering, where I'll defend my title against anyone who thinks they can take it from me.
But that's not the worst of it.
As heir apparent to the Marzana Throne, I've attracted attention I never wanted. Royal dragons from across the continents will descend on the Gathering, seeking political alliances—and political marriages. They see me as an opportunity. A prize. A stepping stone to power.
They're about to learn I'm none of those things.
At least I have my three mates by my side. Their love is the only thing keeping me grounded when everything else threatens to spiral. And then there's Solaris—still in his egg, but far from silent. His voice whispers through our bond, a connection I don't fully understand yet. I carry him everywhere, waiting for the day he finally breaks free.
But something else pulls at me—a phantom tether that flares to life without warning, burning through me before vanishing like smoke. I can't trace it. I can't explain it. And I definitely can't ignore it.
Enemies lurk in shadows we haven't thought to search. A traitor still hides among us—the one who worked against my mother for years—and we're no closer to unmasking them. When Iris returns with answers from twenty years of hunting leads for my father, I think we're finally getting somewhere.

Raven’s Journey is the 2nd Year of the 2nd Generation of Dragonis Academy by Serenity Rayne.
I thought that I loved the 1st Generation of Dragonis Academy but the 2nd Generation is proving me wrong, I’m finding that I’m actually enjoying this Generation so much more and I’m falling more and more in love with these characters and I love that we get to see Mina and her mates through out this 2nd Generation.
Raven’s Journey continues Raven’s story and, in this book, we find Raven and her three current mates Corvus, Keir, and Hemlocke are working together to try and find their footing together. And it doesn’t help that Raven can feel something else pulling at her – this phantom tether that flares up to life without warning, feeling like it burns through her before it suddenly vanishes like smoke. Unfortunately, Raven is unable to trace or fully explain it and at the same time she can’t ignore it.
Now Raven has even more to worry about as there are those around her who are now attacking her all because of what she represents & at the same time Raven feels the need to protect her mates & her family.
With all the new threats coming against Raven and her mates Solaris finally makes his appearance, even though he’s still in his cursed egg. And in that moment the connection between Corvus and Raven flares up like pure fire. And Corvus accepts that he will be the strongest drake to be mates to Rave and he will be the one to lead their group.
We also get the addition of some very sweet and cute babies….one that is so very close to home and too Raven. And I just melted in seeing Raven’s mates melt for the newest baby that was added to their family, a baby that was unquestionably stunning.
I loved all the twists and turns Serenity threw at us in this book which kept me completely enthralled and totally invested in the story. And getting to see the healing between Abraxis and Raven finally happen. That truly felt so special and was such a chef’s kiss.
And finally we are starting to get to know about the rulers of the other continents and we’re getting to know about the other continents and I honestly can’t wait to learn more about the other continents lore and I can’t wait for more expansion on the other continents in the next books.
I do have to say that the plot has definitely amped up and I have to say it again, getting to experience Mina and her mates in this series further is so special. We get to see her grow and continue to mature and I just love that and I love getting to see Mina and her mate’s relationship with Rave and her own mates and kids.
Together Raven, Corvus, Keir, and Hemlocke together with Solaris who’s still in his egg and Finlay who’s a teacher at Dragonis Academy and also happens to be Raven’s unclaimed mate try to deal with all the threats that are coming at them and they are trying to figure out who the traitor among them truly is. And now, I am truly curious to see how everything is going to play out with Queen Giselle.
If you love dragon shifters, found family, fated mates, hidden enemies, political intrigue then this series is one that you are going to want to read ASAP. But this is a series you need to read in order. But you don’t have to read the 1st Generation in order to understand this Generation. (Although if I am being honest, I do recommend the 1st Generation as it is phenomenal as well.)
My favorite quotes from this book are:
‘You almost got us killed...’
A phoenix.
'My daughter’s mate is a phoenix.'
“Claiming our mate in the lake of eternity.” His breath comes rough, ragged, each word forced past something lodged in his throat. “And the water burns.”
‘Formally claim our mate,’ my dragoness urges, and the idea crystallizes immediately. I nod, looking at Corvus with intention.'
'The exchanged scales live on us, pulsing gently with shared heartbeats. We turn together to face Magnus, presenting a united front. “The scales live, and mates are real,” I say, tilting my head in that way I’ve seen my father and Klauth do countless times—the gesture that says I dare you to challenge me.'
'Tiamat, please protect my mates.' 'Please don’t let me hurt them.'
“Phoenixes are a secretive bunch,” Solaris supplies unhelpfully, his Scottish accent rolling through my mind with infuriating calm.
Mom studies Xero for a long moment, then nods slowly. “Tomorrow we plot the path to the Eastern Isles that we want to take. We’ll do some practice runs and work on maneuvers to harness both of our weapons to work best together.”
“We’ll need backup plans for our backup plans,” she continues, her gaze sweeping from Xero to the sleeping hatchlings to my father and Nova. “And we tell no one outside this immediate circle the true nature of our mission. Not until we know more.”
'I nod, feeling the weight of it settle onto my shoulders. The laughter of moments ago feels distant now, belonging to a simpler version of reality that may never have existed.'
Raven is now not only a wyrm dragon but the most dominant dragoness Taking that title from her mother was easy but now there are shadows and questions around every corner. There are forces at work but not knowing who to trust is dangerous.
In this book Raven finishes her mate group with the addition of a pheonix and her ancient orange wyrm dragon. Her phoenix is 900 years old and so happy to have his mate. He is so sweet, caring, calming and distinguished. I love that he needs things done as his history dictates even if the practices are old school.
With Solaris hatching he is Raven's oldest mate. The reasons behind his hatching were really messed up but it was of course with perfect timing.
I absolutely loved seeing the growth between Raven and Abraxis. It came in the right moment and shows so much change with both of them. Raven and Thauglor's bond is absolutely adorable. She is the pure definition of daddy's little girl. Its so heartwarming. We also see a lot if her bond with her twin as well.
While the family grows closer and stronger the unknown enemies continue gaining ground. Will they figure out the end goal and stop whoever is at the helm? They may have their theories but the suspicious are threatening to tear them down from the inside.
With the purge coming up will everyone make it out alive? Will the dragons come out victorious or will the unknown find a way to win? Everything is on the line and there are too many unknowns.
This book was a lot going on. Raven is finally settled now that her nest is complete. However, the unknown threatens Raven, her mates, and her family.
Book three is about to be a huge deal. I honestly can't even guess who all is involved or what is going to happen but its going to be really big. I'm excited for the next book.
It was so good to head back to Dragonis Academy with Raven and her mates.
We dive right back in and I have to say a lot happened in this installment. Raven finally met her 4th and 5th mates under quite intense circumstances but I am glad because I wouldn't have changed it. Finlay is a very distinguished pheonix who is sweet, kind, caring and just seems so calming. Solaris is a beautiful Orange dragon who is literally ancient. He has a chill kind of personality and a really cool Irish accent. I really like that her mates all get along so well and have a brother like bond already which I think is amazing for Raven as she is dealing with so much already.
It's always really nice to see Raven spend time with her nest Dad's as I know that at times it's tense with a certain Dad. It's so sweet.
Raven is really starting to realise and learn just how unique and powerful she is and is constantly facing threats that just seem to have been hiding in wait for a very long time...
Some secrets were revealed but that also raised more questions so I think we are in for a bit of a ride with Raven and her guys.
There's also a really sweet surprise but I will not spoil it but it's the cutest and I can't wait to see more 🩷🩷🩷
Excited to read book 3!
Thank you Serenity and Meg for the opportunity to read this story. I am forever grateful to be a part of your ARC team 🤎
4.5 ⭐️Great to be back to Dragonis! This has lots of action, spice, funny & heartwarming moments. Some questions answered but even more questions popping up and left to answer.
Term two continues. Raven has one mate left to find and is waiting for her cursed egg, Solaris to hatch. She finally realizes that she wants to step out of her parent’s shadows and forge her own path.
When Solaris’ egg finally hatches its Raven is in danger and after they bond they find that Raven’s dragoness is more settled and doesn’t have the need to ‘tear the world apart anymore’
I love how strong her and Thauglor’s bond it… it’s so heartwarming, sweet and unbreakable She also, finally, has an understanding of why Abraxis’ acts the way he does towards her…now they can begin to work through their issues together.
There’s preparation for year three and the purge….is anyone going to be safe?
They also are trying to figure out who turned on Mina all those years ago, who could possibly still be at the academy, and who the other traitors in their flight could be…. Or is it someone they wouldn’t think would betray them…. Or is it someone they forgot about?
Is a war brewing between the different continents? So much happened this year!! And so many questions left that I need answers for!!!!! Can’t wait for the next installment
No cheating, no OWD ends with a ‘comfortable’ cliffhanger
* Dragon & Unique Shifters * Fated Mates * War Academy (20+) * Harem Evolves Over Time * MFMMMM— no MM * Bad@ss FMC
This one?? Yeah… it didn’t just meet expectations—it raised the stakes and set everything on fire 🔥😮💨
Raven’s Journey: Dragonis Academy Year 2 comes in HOT with power, politics, and a heroine who refuses to be anything less than unstoppable.
She claimed her title without bloodshed… but don’t get it twisted—everything after that is war.
The Gauntlet. Enemies in every class. And the Great Gathering looming, where everyone is waiting for her to fall…
Except Raven isn’t a prize. She’s the threat 👀
And the pressure?? INSANE. Royal dragons circling. Political marriages on the table. Power plays everywhere you look.
But what really had me hooked?? The bonds.
Her three mates?? Solid, supportive, and everything when the world starts closing in 🖤 And Solaris?? Still in the egg but already making his presence known?? Yeah… I’m OBSESSED.
Then you add in: • a hidden traitor 👀 • secrets that go back decades • a mysterious tether she can’t explain • enemies lurking where they shouldn’t be
And suddenly NOTHING feels safe.
✨ This is a 5⭐ because: • the stakes are higher and way more intense • the political tension adds so much depth • the relationships feel strong and emotional • the mystery keeps building in the best way • it leaves you needing answers IMMEDIATELY
✨ If you love: • dragon academy fantasy 🐉 • powerful, take-no-shit FMCs • why choose / multiple mates 👀 • political intrigue & power struggles • secrets, betrayal, and slow-burn tension
Raven's Journey is year two in the Dragonis Academy The Second Generation Series. It is a why choose, fated mates, paranormal/fantasy romance. The story is told in first person with multiple POV's.
Raven is a very strong dragon shifter with the weight of the world on her shoulders. There are enemies, traitors, and spies lying in wait to take her down. With the help of her mates, her family, and those she hopes remain loyal to her, can she stay alive long enough to make the changes that her world desperately needs?
This was an awesome continuation of Raven's story. The evolution of the relationships between Raven and her mates was terrific. I enjoyed the action, the surprises, and the drama. I adored how protective and loving that Raven is with those she loves, and how close she is with her family. I'm very excited to see what comes next for Raven, her mates, her family, and their people.
I am absolutely addicted to this series. The writing, pace, plot, and flow of this story were amazing, as were the characters, storyline, storytelling, character development, and relationship development. The world building was vivid, detailed, and wonderfully descriptive.
If you love a fantastic, action packed, fantasy read with incredible and unique characters, then I'd absolutely recommend this book.
Thank you so very much to Serenity Rayne for the ARC; all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.
Raven's second year at Dragonis was a doozy. Between kidnappings, political maneuvers, school, life-altering events, and unseen enemies lurking around every corner, Raven's Journey was far from boring. Raven is darker in this one. As the most dominant dragoness, she has a lot to protect, and she's not holding back. She still had some of her playfulness, and I love how close she is with her family. I didn’t realize how unusual that is for dragon culture until this book. The family that plots together stays together. Raven, her guys, and her extended family are ready to go to war. They have never been closer.
Things with the guys are going great. I like where they're headed. There were a few changes, but they were good changes. There was only one weird moment that I didn't get, but other than that, the romance was good. As with the previous Dragonis series, Raven's story is more plot-forward. There are a lot of pieces to keep track of, but the one obvious thing is this family has way too many enemies. Some are in your face, while others are in the shadows. The 'why this family' is answered, and from the bad guys' perspective, it makes sense. The next question is what Raven's going to do about it. Not going to lie, I low-key love how ruthless Raven has gotten. I can't wait to see how she handles things in the next book.
We are back at Dragonis for term two. Raven is growing into herself. She is an incredibly powerful and unique dragon shifter. With a lot of mates, she is trying to find her fifth mate and well as preparing for the Great Gathering.
The development of the relationships and bonds between Raven and her mates is done so well and organic in this story.. The world building is fast and just pulls you right into Raven's world, and you never want to leave. Although there is danger with her traitors, enemies and spies waiting in the wings to find their opening to take her down. With all of her support and her sharp mind, she survives and thrives.
There is so much action with twist and turns that it will make it hard for you to put the book down. I myself lost sleep trying to finish this because I just always need to know what was happening next. Now I just have to wait for the next book. Don't sleep on this series…you might just find you a new favorite.
Thank you Serenity Rayne and Meg with Literary Inspired for sharing an early copy of this story with me. All of my opinions are my own.
I have become such a huge Dragonis Academy and Serenity Rayne fan. From the very first book, I have absolutely loved this author and the story that she is weaving.
Ravens journey had only just begun. As if we thought her life wasn't easy in the beginning, the best is she had to come. I also love Solaris and the little whisperers.
Ravens bonds were those around her are growing. Desperate continued to give me all of the amazing vibes of the other ones. There's action as well as emotional turmoil. There's amazing friendships, as well as people you definitely can't trust. Who's a friend and who's a traitor? The plot was plotting and the twists were twisting. But that's definitely what keeps me loving these books. Just when you think you've got it figured out, the carpet gets yanked out from underneath you.
Welcome back to Dragonis Academy. The adventure is just beginning. I give this a solid four out of five stars.
Raven is still looking for her 5th mate while facing political threats, forced marriage proposals, awaiting her cursed mate Solaris’s arrival and being kidnapped. A day in the life as an heir apparent to the Marzana Throne for Raven. Enemies are everywhere biding their time and only now has the threat become apparent. Will the threats force Solaris to hatch early and can her 5th mate’s flickering bond save her from the kidnapping?
In a dangerous world the best you can be is the most dangerous. Raven is finding her way and her own path with her mates by her side and quite the surprise in this one as well! It seems everyone on the continent wants her to fail but her training and mates will see her succeed. I love the dark protector vibes in this one too plus the family support! Can’t wait to find out what happens next for her in book 3!
This book continues the developments and trials of Raven's journey as the heir with unknown enemies hiding away while known ones might be distractions. We finally get to see the complete family for Raven as all five mates are finally in the picture and see their development as a completed unit. We get plenty of twists and turns along the way which kept me invested when reading and loved to see the healing between Abraxis and Raven finally. We're finally learning more of the other continents and their rulers so looking forward to seeing more lore expansion on that in the next book! The plot has definitely ramped up and one thing I really enjoy about this series is that we get to still experience Mina and her mates. Looking forward to seeing what Serenity brings in the next book!
I know I was Team Mina throughout the 1st generation Dragonis Academy series, but Raven has taken my heart hostage and refuses to let go. I love her character so much. She's fierce, passionate, protective, stubborn, dangerous and does not bend to anyone. This book literally starts on a high note, and the action does not let up one bit.
Just when you think our favorite family has overcome everything that was thrown at Mina and her mates; we soon learn that something has been brewing for a long time and dragons don't forget any slight or offense and it's going to be up to Raven to right the wrongs of the past and pick up where her mother left off to finish the multitude of threats to their families once and for all. I am here for all the carnage.
I just seriously love this world. It’s so intriguing. I love that even though we get to see a lot of Mina and her mates, it’s still very much Ravens show. The way her mind works is astounding. This book gives us some twists and turns. A few things happened I was not expecting but yet it also makes sense. We get bonds growing stronger and not just with mates, but with family as well. There’s character growth for sure with these moments. I cried at a few particular moments because they just tugged at the heart strings. Lord knows the continent is not prepared for what is going to happen when you mess with this black dragon and her family. It’s a fafo moment and I’m going to be making some popcorn to eat while I read it.
This is the second book in the Dragonis Academy: The Second Generation. If you enjoyed reading book 1 as well as this book, I recommend reading the Dragonis Academy series. Find out about the OG’s, Raven’s mom and dads! I thought Mina was a strong and tough dragon until I met Raven. This FMC is so much more than I ever expected! Raven is the epitome of a warrior queen. She is strong, ferocious, loyal and overprotective of those she claims. You don’t mess with her family or her mates. She is a powerful and bad@$$ dragoness who will burn the world down for her loved ones. Thank you, Serenity Rayne, for another thrilling chapter in Raven’s life. If her life is this exciting I cannot wait to see what’s in store for her siblings!!
I have never loved going back to a world as much as I love going back to the Dragonis Academy world if I'm honest.
In this book we see more of Ravens journey develop more trials and enemies hiding becoming more brave in what theu do.
We see Raven take on her final 2 mates completing her nest. Which I love to see just how each male plays such an important role in her nest and life and how they all work together to keep each other safe.
Raven isn't like the previous dominant wrym dragons of her time she cares and protects her family through everything.
We have familial bonds being fixed, new surprises and so much love this read was so good just like every Dragonis Academy book and I can't wait to see what's next in Ravens journey.
This series is amazing. We are now on the second year with Raven at the academy. She has three of her five mates. She knows who one of the last two of her mates is but the other is still a mystery. The story centers around her family and the dangers she is facing from both known and unknown sources. We continue to have Mina, her mother, and her mates and offspring as a big part of Raven’s story. I so love the dynamics she has with them. At times the family is intense and occasionally insane. Her mates bring the romance and a few moments of heat. The danger though becomes a bigger part as the story goes. If someone is to trying to kill her they are trying to take her power. An amazing story with so many dynamics going on. I love all the characters that bring this story to life.
What a wonderful continuation of a fantastic series. There is so much mystery, suspense and adventures that runs smoothly together throughout the story. My main takeaway was the sense of family. Each member brings a special place in the family dynamic. Abraxis finally opens up and reveals his feelings to Raven, which helps her understand his true self and fears and boasts their fathers daughter relationship. Solaris breaks free from his egg and is a powerhouse and great help to the pack. I can't wait to see how Nova develops and adds to the powerful family. I hated it when I had to put the book down. I highly recommend this story.
I read Raven’s Journey as an ARC and loved how much the stakes have shifted. This isn’t just academy survival anymore. It’s politics, power, and Raven being pulled into something much bigger than herself.
If you like romantasy that balances tension with strong character growth, this one is worth your time.
Massive thanks to @author.serenity.rayne and @literaryinspired for organising the ARC team.
✨ Fated mates 📖 Why choose 🔥 Slow burn / med burn 💞 Friends to lovers 🏫 Academy setting
Readers who love dragon shifters, academy settings, and a why choose romance where everything centres on the FMC. I read this early and the shift in stakes from book one really stands out.
It’s out today on KU, and if you enjoy tension, power struggles, and layered relationships, don’t skip this one.
Thank you @author.serenity.rayne and @literaryinspired for letting me be part of the ARC.
🐉 Dragon shifters 📖 Why choose ✨ Fated mates 🔥 Not perfect strong FMC ⚔️ Old enemies resurface
Serenity gives us more twists and turns in the second book in the Dragonis Academy year two series! Raven and her mates are running the gauntlet of royalty and Raven is being taken to try to force connections that Raven and the family don't want or need and it falls to current and future mates to find her and save her. To find out how they get to the end of year two and the cliffhanger, dive into this beautifully written book with complex characters and plot twists that keep you guessing and turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend the series! Don't miss out on this book!!
This is the second year for Raven and she is learning ro navigate the new responsibilities of being the heir. We get to see how strong and caring she is the love and devotion she has for her mates and family. This book gave us some nice suprises but many mysteries. There are still enemies that must be found and with the revelations we got from Minas books we are still no closer to the complete whys. I can't wait for more. When I was at 80 percent through the book all I kept thinking was I hope to learn more but definitely didn't want it to end.
Raven's Journey is full of ups and downs. It's anything but easy. This story has you locked in, you know what's happening, what to expect then... Boom the bottom falls out. The whole story tilts to form something even more intriguing than what you thought. This sequel is unapologetically victorious in its ability to capture and hold your attention. Then when we get an idea of what year three is going to be about... Let's just say if I could blink there like Keir, I'd still be reading!
Ravens journey is so good. I really like her bond mates. I was starting to have issues with the way Abraxis was acting, I was very happy with his breakthrough. Im glad there's still so much with her mom and dads, love her whole family. Nova just sounds absolutely beautiful. I hope each dad gets their own, even though they love them anyway. Im worried about how Finleys worries are gonna manifest. Oh and Lily and the egg, I hope something wonderful happens for her and her mate(bodyguard)? Can't wait for the next book.
I am seriously and fully enjoying this second generation series! Raven was the perfect choice to start this off. The love she has for her family and mates is very important to this series and it shows. In other second gen books they feel redundant, but Serenity is the next generation QUEEN! I feel like I could just start with this and be okay. (Which I wouldn't dare, the first generation is just as amazing as this) I need book 3 like yesterday!
I hope we get to see more of the siblings, especially the non dragon ones.
This book picks up right where book 1 left off. This series is phenomenal, and continues to get better and better as it goes on. Raven and her men have a healthy relationship and it shows on the page. I love that Raven and Abraxis seem to get more time together in this book, and the explanation of how their relationship seemed to devolve.
Raven's mates are super supportive and really stand behind her, and the spice is nice!! Not to mention, the surprise little addition!
I said it after reading the first book in this series, and I am sticking by it - this second generation Dragonis Academy is all that the first was, and so much more. Raven is certainly someone special, and this book gave us more mate bonding, more battles in several forms, and more planning for the inevitable war to save the race. No spoilers, but it is nail-biting, beautiful, horrifying, exciting, and all the emotions in between.
There is a flow to the writing that keeps me engaged and stops me putting it down when I really should address adulting tasks 😂. I love the growth of characters, and the blending of old customs with new attitudes to nest life, the family strong tethers across generations. Can’t wait for more, especially with where we are left at the end, fantastic read 😎
I am loving the next gen of Dragonis Academy and it is a pleasure to return for book 2. Here Raven is thriving as the continent's dominant female. She's the den mother and living her best life with her mates. Enter Finlay and Solaris the final? Of her mates that are hysterical to read and just lovely. What I'm enjoying the most I think is the ongoing family bond, especially between the dads, the nest mates and all of the siblings. I am so excited for book three.
I’ve loved Raven’s story so far and loved that a lot of the characters from Mina’s story continue to be present throughout and just as much of the story, after all they are all family. I also really love how we get different mates and different challenges. There are still enemies out for vengeance but Raven isn’t going to let anyone hurt her family. Raven isn’t just building a legacy she’s forging a new future for not just dragonkind but the continent as a whole. If you want a story with a strong, kickbutt female look no further, except maybe the first Dragonis Academy series.
Its soo nice to be back at Dragonis Academy for year two, dont worry its just as ruthless and dangerous as ever!!
We get to meet Ravens two new mates and they are as delish as the others in their own unique way... Finlay with his calm caring nature and Solaris with his yummy Irish accent.
There is so much packed into this book from action to plot twists that will have you on the edge of your seat and making it impossible not to turn the page.
I cant wait to see how this develops in book three.
