Rate this book
When an injury brings her back to her family’s Montana ranch, Hazel tells herself it’s temporary. Help her aunt. Lend a hand. Then leave before the past catches up with her.

Eli Dawson.

Her childhood best friend. The neighboring rancher who’s been quietly keeping Clarke Ranch running. The man she walked away from without a word the morning after they finally crossed the line from friendship to something more.

Eli isn’t chasing her anymore. He’s steady. Guarded. And done risking his heart on someone who already proved she could leave.

But as Hazel settles back into ranch life, old sparks reignite and long-buried feelings resurface. With the future of the ranch uncertain and a life waiting for her elsewhere, Hazel is forced to decide what matters more — the plans she made… or the love she never quite left behind.

A heartfelt, slow-burn ranch romance filled with cowboys, second chances, and a love worth staying for..

I absolutely devoured this cowboy romance — I could not put it down! From the very first chapter, the chemistry was electric, the tension perfectly paced, and the emotional depth completely pulled me in.
The cowboy hero was everything you want — rugged, protective, a little guarded, but with a heart that slowly unfolds in the most swoon-worthy way. And the heroine? Strong, relatable, and impossible not to root for.
Their banter had me smiling, their quiet moments had me melting, and the emotional twists kept me turning pages long past bedtime.
The small-town setting felt vivid and cozy, wrapping around the love story like a warm blanket. Every scene had purpose, every chapter ended with just enough pull to keep me saying “one more.”
Brilliantly written, deeply romantic, and utterly addictive — this is the kind of cowboy romance that reminds you why you love the genre. Five stars without hesitation! 🫶

WOW! What a book to start a series off with!! I absolutely ATE this book up. Cowboys, tension and full of emotion? Yes, please!

I was completely hooked from the prologue, and when I say hooked, I mean literally sat on the floor balancing my kindle to carry on reading whilst folding washing, hooked!

Hazel, left home after losing her father and not being able to live around the constant reminders of him. The only downside, she left best friend/first love Eli asleep in her bed with no goodbye. Breaking both their hearts as she dissappears to Denver.

Eli has spent the last few years trying to save Hazel's family ranch whilst working at his own and every day that passes it's harder and harder to keep it afloat. The Clarks need a miracle at this point. But when Hazel finally returns to help out, Eli swears he's not letting her back into his life just so she can leave again.

Our FMC is strong, stubborn and so relatable it's impossible not to be on her side. But Eli, our MMC? he's everything a cowboy should be. Grumpy, rugged, closed off protective and completely swoonworthy. The character growth both MC's go through made Legacy and Lace feel much more relatable.

The whole book was filled with banter, tension, grief and so heartwarming I literally could jave melted onto the floor. I love when a slow burn hits that perfect spot that the suspense is almost as good as the details.

Thank you so much again Rebecka Cole for the opportunity to read before release, I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for Chase and Addie's book!

This book was absolutely incredible—an easy 5-star read for me. It’s been a long time since I’ve picked up a story that held my attention this completely from beginning to end. The character development was beautifully done; every person felt real, layered, and worth investing in.

Set against the backdrop of ranch life, the story captures something truly special about love and loss, and how those two things so often walk hand in hand. There’s a quiet strength in the way the author portrays a “simpler” life—reminding us that simpler doesn’t mean easier, but often more meaningful, more grounded, and ultimately more rewarding.

The writing itself flowed effortlessly. The pacing was just right, with enough detail to bring scenes to life without ever feeling repetitive or overwhelming. It never lingered too long in one place, yet still gave every moment the weight it deserved.

I found myself completely immersed, and by the end, I wasn’t ready to let these characters go. I truly hope this isn’t the last we see of this world. There are threads here that could lead to more stories, and I would absolutely love to see where they go. I’m especially curious about what the future holds for Eli and Hazel—even if they aren’t the main focus, I’d gladly read more about their journey.

If you enjoy heartfelt stories about love, resilience, and the beauty found in a slower, more intentional way of life, this one is a must-read.

Legacy and Lace by Rebecka Cole is a heartfelt small-town romance that wraps you up in dust, denim, and deep emotions. This is a beautifully done friends to lovers story. The chemistry between Eli and Hazel feels natural, built on years of shared history, unspoken feelings, and undeniable tension. The ranch life, community ties, and slower pace create the perfect atmosphere for a romance rooted in tradition and legacy. The cowboy element isn’t just aesthetic. It is woven into the characters’ identities, responsibilities, and making everything feel grounded and real. There’s also a strong emotional thread tied to family, legacy, and what it means to build a life while honoring the past. It adds depth beyond the romance, giving the story weight without taking away from the heartwarming moments. If you love small-town settings, rugged cowboys, and that slow-burn friends-to-lovers tension that keeps you turning pages, Legacy and Lace is a cozy, emotional read that delivers exactly what you’re hoping for.

As someone who loves a good western romance, Legacy & Lace delivers!

When Hazel Clarke returns to her family’s struggling ranch, she comes back carrying grief, unfinished business, and a future she never planned to reclaim.

Enter Eli Dawson— who’s still there, quieter and steadier than ever. He was left to pick up the pieces of not only her family’s ranch but his heart as well.

Rebuilding the ranch means facing the past, and staying means risking everything.

I loved Eli and Hazel’s love story so much. Second chance is one of my favorite tropes, and I love how Eli set boundaries for himself. He was still hurting and his emotions were glossed over simply because this was a romance book.

The feelings, the relationship was so realistic. Both Eli and Hazel had a lot to learn before they could really be together again.

I also loved Hazel’s determination to help her family’s ranch. Seeing the problem and thinking outside the box.

Watching her fall in love with the ranch again was everything.

Such a beautiful love story!

God, I loathe Cole. My first big feeling while reading was how much I instantly disliked him. But I guess that makes him a pretty good villain 🤣

I love a good “f*ck it” moment and this story delivered! Although I want to punch Hazel’s head off. She should have been begging for Eli’s forgiveness from the second she came back to town, that man is *chef’s kiss*.

Wish there had been more spice to it rather than every opportunity becoming “after” aside from the first descriptive encounter and the one at the end.

I couldn’t catch my breath after that call from her boss, I wanted to cry for Eli and I think I was as upset and resigned as he was. Thank God I didn’t have to wait toooo long for the HEA because my blood pressure definitely spiked.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to what comes next for Ashford Ridge!

Wow what an amazing read!

I was fully invested from start to finish and completely swept away by Hazel and Eli's story.
The undeniable tension and yearning between them had me hooked from the very beginning!

Hazel is a strong and relatable FMC — it's impossible not to love her. I found myself rooting for her the whole way through. And Eli... a brooding, protective, swoon-worthy cowboy? Yes please!

The banter, the tension, and the second-chance slow burn were done so well. Every moment felt natural and beautifully written, making it impossible not to get completely immersed in the world of Ashford Ridge.

And can we talk about Chance and Addie wow - I'm desperate for their story!

Thank you Rebecka, for allowing me to step into Ashford Ridge and fall in love with Hazel and Eli's journey.

Wow this is a really good second chance romance!! It takes a lot to make it this good and realistic! The doubt, yearning, hurt, happiness and fear was just perfect. Eli and Hazel’s chemistry was sparking and just felt super natural! The pacing flowed really nice and all characters felt real and realistic. The side characters were all really well done, which I really appreciate in a book. My emotions were all over while reading and that’s always a good tell if it’s a good book!

Im so glad and grateful for being able to read this early so thank you Rebecka for the arc of this💞

Hazel ran away from her family’s ranch to a new job in Denver. She heads back home temporarily to help out her Aunt Mae. Eli, her best friend, is now working at the ranch and things are unresolved between them. Eli has feelings for Hazel and she isn’t sure how she feels. A sweet story about family and relationships set on a ranch in Montana. I loved this book. Thanks to the author for my Advanced Reader Copy.

This book took up all the free space in my head while reading it, and it’s still lingering long after the fact!

I love, love, loved the tension between Eli and Hazel. And while I wanted to shake some sense into Hazel for her inability to make a decision, I do understand, to an extent, not wanting to make the wrong choice.

This is a sweet, small-town horse ranch, second chance cowboy romance. Rebecka’s descriptive writing made me feel like I was there with Hazel, Eli and the gang in Ashford Ridge. I can’t wait for the next book!

This book was so sweet and cozy to read. The storyline was easy to follow and extremely relatable. The grief, indecision and very human aspect of standing on the precipice of a life changing decision really shone through. I haven’t read many cowboy romances, but this one really stole my heart. I would definitely recommend!

Hazel is struck by grief when her dad dies and she’s left with the decision to either stay at the family ranch where his memory is everywhere she turns or leave everything and everyone she loves behind, including Eli, to pursue a job opportunity.

It’s been 5 years since she walked away from everything she knows and now she’s back to help her injured Aunt with the ranch while she heals, but when she returns, the family ranch is not what it used to be and the man she walked away from isn’t going to make things easy for her to just slide back in as though she didn’t choose to walk away from everything.

As she works the ranch and slowly melts Eli’s icy walls, she’s finding herself in the same situation she was in 5 years ago. Walk away from everything she knows and loves, or stay.

This is a second chance, first love, he never stopped loving her, small town romance. There are some open door scenes and fade to black. The story is very heartfelt and there’s an HEA guaranteed. It’s pretty slow paced until about 65% of the way through and a little repetitive. But the story is heartfelt and it’s hard not to root for the main characters.

I received an eARC copy of this book and all thoughts and review are my own

ARC REVIEW:
Eli and Hazels connection is so push or pull until the pull just becomes too strong for either of them to fight any longer. Their spark is undeniable and everyone around them can see it, but is it enough to keep Hazel from choosing a fast track to success in the city. She has to choose, stay and fight for the ranch that she grew up on and loves and the man that she once left behind out of fear. Or does she move back to the life that she has built for herself and the once in a lifetime offer she is given?
This was a slow burn, second chance romance that had me holding my breath waiting for the characters to figure out what everyone can already see!! The connection between Eli and Hazel is tense and HOT. This story was sweet, spicy, and everything you can expect from a cowboy romance. I cannot wait to read about Addie and Chase!!

Rugged, guarded, protective cowboy yes please sign me up! I loved everything about this book. The way I devoured legacy & Lace is real.

Hazel left everything including her best friend/ first time love behind after losing her dad. Now years later she’s back home helping out on the family ranch. Eli has been working to save the Clarke ranch while also trying to move forward without Hazel. Working together to save the ranch will have them finally confronting their feelings.
The tension between Hazel and Eli is felt as soon as they see each other. This is a beautifully written slow burn, second chance romance. Rebecka has captured all the emotions of love and loss so beautifully.

I can’t wait for more in the Ashford Ridge

I really enjoyed this book right away you can see how grief is clouding everything in Hazel's life she loved her dad and the ranch and everything in Montana but couldn't see herself able to stay after his passing how could she go on in her dad's world without him there with her?

Coming back to town after so long there is big tension between Eli and Hazel he's still bitter and upset (reasonably so) after they had a night to remember and then she left him without a word, even with his heart shattered and his girl out of the state he continued to help on his own ranch and help Hazel's Aunt out on her Ranch but he knows the lay of the land and that the financial situation isn't what it used to be, without Hazel's dad there to run the place the extra income opportunities left and word spreads fast in a small town.

Hazel is back but for how long? I liked that Eli didn't let her off the hook immediately after so long he was guarded, grumpy and doesn't let up on harder questions like How long are you staying? He wanted answers and while he gave up waiting around for her to come back he makes it known that her leaving wrecked him.

This has amazing slow burn tension even when he's grumpy and guarded you know that Eli still feels the same way and since she's back Hazel is finally facing that she might feel that way too but what is she supposed to do? Her life is in Colorado now she only has so many weeks out of work to help and she is getting questioned by her boss when is she returning?... But what if she is seeing her future now in Montana?

To be honest Eli had my heart from the beginning... if you ever find someone who loves you as much as Eli loves Hazel... don't run off in the middle of the night to a different state without talking to him you keep them and hold on tight so someone else doesn't grab them up. I did find myself getting irritated with Hazel at times because she was so set on not making any decisions and I didn't want to see her break Eli's heart again!

This is an emotional read that will have you rooting for both of our leads to find their way back to each other... and for Hazel to finally face and make big decisions.

Legacy & Lace absolutely ruined me in the best, softest, slow-burn way. It’s one of those stories that doesn’t shout for your attention, it just quietly wraps itself around your ribs and squeezes until you’re feeling everything all at once.

Hazel coming back to the ranch had that “I’m only here temporarily” energy that we ALL know is a lie from page one… and watching her try to convince herself she hadn’t left pieces of her heart behind?? Pain. Delicious, aching pain. And then there’s Eli freaking Dawson.

Eli. Dawson.

This man is not loud or flashy. He’s steady. Solid. The kind of man who shows love in a thousand quiet ways instead of grand speeches. And honestly? That made it hit ten times harder. The fact that he used to chase her but doesn’t anymore?? The emotional damage. The tension. The way every interaction felt like walking across a field full of old memories and “what ifs”?? I was eating it up with a spoon.

Their history is EVERYTHING. Childhood best friends to almost-lovers to heartbreak to… whatever this fragile, complicated thing is now?? It’s messy and real and layered and I swear you can feel the years between them in every single conversation. The slow burn here is SLOW slow, but not in a frustrating way. In a “every glance matters, every word matters, every almost-touch matters” kind of way that had me feral.

And the ranch setting?? It’s not just background, it breathes. You can feel the dust, the work, the weight of legacy hanging over everything. It makes the stakes feel so much bigger than just romance. It’s about home. Belonging. Roots you can’t quite rip out no matter how far you run.

But what really got me was that core question: do you stick to the life you planned, or do you choose the love you never actually let go of? That tension runs through the entire book and it hurts so good.

By the end I was a puddle. A satisfied, heart-full, slightly emotionally compromised puddle.

If you love:
• second chance romance that actually earns it
• quiet, stoic cowboys with big feelings buried deep
• childhood friends with unresolved everything
• slow burn that simmers until it aches

…this book is going to own you.

Legacy and Lace is an emotional second-chance romance that beautifully explores grief, forgiveness, and the pull of home. The story follows Hazel, who left town after the devastating loss of her father, unable to live among the constant reminders of him. In doing so, she also left behind Eli, her best friend and first love—without even saying goodbye. Her sudden disappearance broke both of their hearts and sent her life in a completely different direction in Denver.

Years later, Hazel returns home when her family ranch is on the brink of collapse. Eli has spent that time carrying the weight of responsibility and heartbreak. By the time Hazel walks back into town, Eli has built walls around himself and is determined not to let her hurt him again.

Hazel is a strong, stubborn female lead. Her grief and guilt make her easy to root for, and her determination to make things right adds emotional depth to the story. Eli perfectly embodies the rugged cowboy. He’s grumpy, protective, and undeniably pure book boyfriend material. I was rooting for him to stand his ground and he didn’t disappoint.

The journey from heartbreak to healing feels authentic and heartfelt, making their reconnection even more satisfying. The emotional stakes, combined with the small-town ranch setting and slow-burn tension, create a romance that feels both grounded and powerful. This story was full of emotion and I found myself teary eyed several times.

Overall, Legacy and Lace is a touching story about love that endures through loss, time, and distance. Readers who enjoy second-chance romances with strong character development and a brooding cowboy hero will find themselves completely captivated.

Thank you Rebecka for letting me be a beta reader on the first book of this new series. I absolutely loved it! If you’re a fan of a swoony cowboy romance with heart, this story delivers in the best way. The characters were so lovable and felt incredibly real — I was fully invested in their journey from start to finish. The side characters were perfect and I can’t wait to see where their stories lead.

This is a beautifully done slow-burn second chance romance that really takes its time building the emotions (and the tension 👀🔥). The character development was especially strong, making their growth and reconnection feel genuine and satisfying.

This is a second-chance cowboy romance that will immediately pull you into the heart of a struggling ranch and a relationship that never truly healed. Oh, and that cover? I am obsessed!

I loved Eli and Hazel's story and found myself rooting for Eli from the very beginning. Was he bitter? Yes, but he had every right to be. I understand why Hazel left when she did, grief is tough, but I still feel like she did him dirty and she could have handled it differently. This did make their journey back to each other even more emotional though.

The tension between Hazel and Eli is strong, with so much history between them. And I was so happy when that "F it" moment finally hit! I did want to shake Hazel at times though to get her to make a decision! I was rooting for her and Eli as well as for them to figure out the problems with the ranch.

While the writing style, more staccato style, isn't really my preference, it did do a great job of creating vivid descriptions and making it seem like you were standing right on the ranch and a part of what was happening.

As someone who grew up riding horses and helping run a horse boarding facility, many details in this book really resonated with me and brought back so many memories! Surprisingly, even though I grew up in the horse world, this is only the third cowboy romance I have read, and I think I am missing out.

Definitely recommend that you pick this one up and give it a try. Thank you, Rebecka, for sharing an early copy with me to read!

Just finished Legacy & Lace by Rebecka Cole and this one really stayed with me.

Thank you to Rebecka for the ARC — it’s been a pleasure to be on your team it absolutely delivered an emotional, heartfelt story, these are my honest & voluntary thoughts.

Hazel returns to her family’s Montana ranch years after leaving in the middle of overwhelming grief after losing her father. Coming home means facing everything she ran from — her past, her family, and especially Eli.

Eli was easily my favorite part of this book. He’s hurt, guarded, and still carrying the weight of Hazel leaving without a word after the night their relationship changed. I really appreciated that he didn’t just forgive her right away. His reactions felt real — not cruel, just honest and shaped by heartbreak.

The slow burn between them is done so well. There’s tension, history, and unspoken feelings in every interaction, and you can feel that the love never fully went away.

I also liked that this story goes beyond romance. It explores grief, healing, family, and the pressure of deciding what path to take when your heart and your plans don’t align. Hazel’s journey felt frustrating at times, but also very real as she struggled to face her past and make decisions about her future.

Overall, this is a beautifully written second-chance ranch romance about forgiveness, growth, and finding your way back to where you belong.

Legacy and Lace is a second chance romance that follows Hazel, who ran away to Denver after the devastating loss of her father because the grief of staying on the family ranch was just too heavy to bear. In doing so, she left behind Eli, her first love and best friend, without a proper goodbye. Fast forward five years, and she is finally back to help her Aunt Mae save the struggling ranch. But Eli is still there, having worked tirelessly to keep the place afloat while she was gone, and he is definitely not making her return easy.

Eli!!🤌🏼 He is the ultimate grumpy, rugged, fiercely protective cowboy. He is understandably hurt and guarded because she left him in the dark, so he purposely keeps her at a distance at first. The push-and-pull between them creates the most delicious, angsty slow-burn tension. It isn't just about the spice (though the chemistry is undeniably hot!), it is about two people genuinely fighting through their past heartbreak and finding their way back to each other.

Beyond the romance, the book does a beautiful job exploring the messy reality of grief, family expectations, and forgiveness.

If you are an absolute sucker for a good cowboy romance, Rebecka Cole completely delivers with this one! If you love that cozy, small-town Hallmark movie vibe mixed with some serious emotional depth and spice, you definitely need to add Legacy and Lace to your TBR. The writing is beautiful, and you will feel like you are living there with the characters!!

Legacy and lace.
This was well written. One can say it’s a cowboy, western romance story. Hazel and Eli are the main characters and the love story between the two of them has so many moments it captivates you from the start.

It’s a second chance romance but in way it’s simply a romance at first chance because they didn’t get to be in love the way they could have been due to grief and not knowing what the future holds.
Although Eli has loved hazel since they were just kids running and having fun on the ranch! Hazel had loved Eli as well but couldn’t figure out what her heart exactly wanted. But as adults now they can act upon that love.
As she comes back to her old hometown she and Eli have to face one another. there is hurt they have to work through and unsaid feelings, but they are also finding joy along the way. There love underneath it all is coming back to surface slowly. The love that consumes them will always be thiers and they will have to brave to admit it.
I can’t wait for the next book I think there may be another couples story to be told but i guess we will have to wait and see! Go ahead and give this a read so you can put those pieces together as well! And yes it was steamy at times for all you gals wondering.
⭐️/ 4 it was that realness western!

There's nothing like going back to your hometown after you disappeared without a word...and, yeah, that's coming back to bite you. Sound intriguing? Here is my review of Legacy and Lace by Rebecka Cole.
This book is my first cowboy romance, and I have to say, I might be addicted to this genre. Our story begins with Hazel, our FMC, who comes back to her family's ranch in Montana while she is still in the midst of dealing with the grief from the loss of her father. When she arrives, she's immediately thrown back into her past and she's stuck there between her past and her future, and there is so much tension it's just delicious. Especially when our MMC, Eli, enters the picture. The history that they share and the tension-both physical and emotional-is just wonderful. He definitely hasn't forgotten her and he's not real subtle about it either.
The small-town ranch setting was probably my most favorite part. It just felt cozy and lived in with people who show up for each other and don't shy away from telling it exactly like it is. I will say the writing style wasn't my cup of tea, however the immersive setting and the beautiful descriptive writing more than made up for that.
So, if you like second chance romance, slow tension, some spice and a story that takes it time with the feelings, this is a really solid pick.

This story was a 4.5 stars for me. I am a total sucker for cowboy romances and this one did not disappoint!
This story was so sweet and warmed my heart. It honestly reminded me of the Hallmark shows that I dearly love.
Hazel grew up on a horse ranch that her daddy grew from his sweat and tears. Once her father passed, Hazel didn’t know if ranch life was her future. It seemed to be too hard to be around and reminded her too much of her daddy. So she made a decision to leave and start a new life. Now five years have passed and she is back to help her Aunt that took over the ranch get it back up on its feet, will she just help out for a time or will she decide to stay and continue her fathers legacy?
Eli is the neighbor, ranch hand and former boyfriend that was devastated when Hazel decided to leave five years ago with no goodbye and never looked back leaving his heart broken. Eli has continued to help Hazel’s aunt maintain the ranch all these years and now has to work with Hazel to help out the ranch, all while trying to protect his heart again. Can they work together?
This story is a wonderful story of second chances, love, hard work and fighting for the things that matter most.

Arc Review: This story follows Hazel and Eli. Hazel comes back to town after being gone for five years after her father passed away. When she returns, she finds out the ranch her father once cared for, which her aunt is now running, isn't doing well financially. She also learns that Eli her old love interest has been helping keep the ranch going and holding down the fort.
Eli is scared to open his heart back up to Hazel because the last time she left, it broke him. Hazel was also dealing with internal turmoil with staying or leaving again. This definitely a slow burn cowboy romance, and I freaking loved it.
I loved the story between Eli and Hazel so much, the dancing scene and the porch scene were some of my absolute favorites
Both of them struggle with opening their hearts again, and it made their story feel really emotional and realistic and the raw emotions left me with butterflies through out the story.
I also loved the side characters, especially Chace he had me laughing out loud, he was sassy lol Honestly, this book could easily be turned into a movie, and I can't wait to read more from author :)
