Light Bringer: Cosmic Ouroboros

Light Bringer: Cosmic Ouroboros is an original sciencefiction poem that blends theoretical physics with myth, mysticism, and poetic vision. Following the lineage of Harry Martinson’s Aniara, the book weaves a timeless narrative that stretches from dying star systems to the ancient landscapes of Anatolia.

The story unfolds across multiple epochs: from the final transmission of Chief Engineer 1522, sent into the universe from within a steel cylinder through a plasma jet, to the “four jesters” guarding the Tree of Knowledge in the Noima system, and further back to a child in 9600 BCE Anatolia who intuitively maps the cosmos onto cave walls. These interconnected voices form a cyclical meditation on existence, memory, and survival.

Written by a physicist and theoretical astrophysicist, the work integrates concepts such as quantum mechanics, time symmetry, and thermodynamics with the spiritual insight of Anatolian Sufism and the philosophical heritage of ancient Ionian thinkers. Science here is not presented as cold calculation, but as a poetic act of inquiry, an art of explanation and understanding.

With references to figures such as Maxwell and Cramer and enriched by original illustrations, Light-Bringer: Cosmic Ouroboros explores the idea that the end of the universe resides within its beginning. It is a visionary, intellectual manifesto that invites the reader into a looping cosmos where knowledge, consciousness, and hope endlessly renew one another.

About the author

1994 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. 2017 yılında İTÜ Fizik Mühendisliği bölümünden dereceyle mezun olan Burak Cem Coşkun, İsveç Kraliyet Teknoloji Enstitüsü’nde nötron yıldızları ve nükleer fizik alanında çalışmalar yaptı. Almanya’nın Bonn şehrindeki Friedrich Wilhelm Üniversitesi’nde teorik astrofizik alanında master yapmaktayken, Sabancı Üniversitesi’nde yüksek öğrenimine devam etmiştir. Çalışmaları süper-yoğun nötron süperakışkanıyla egzotik çekirdeklerin etkileşimi üzerine yoğunlaşmıştır. Yazar, Herkese Bilim ve Teknoloji dergisinde popüler bilim ve bilim tarihi yazıları yazmakta ve çizgi roman çevirileri yapmaktadır. Alfa Yayınları’ndan çıkan Feynman adlı çizgi romanın Türkçeye çevirisini gerçekleştirmiştir. KDY tarafından basılmış “Kusur”, “Işık Getiren”, “Bilim ve Şiir”, “Uglata” ve “Hayal Krizi & Gün’düşü Hikâyeleri” adlı bilimkurgu eserlerinin de yazarıdır. Bilimkurgu hikâyeleri çeşitli antolojilerde ve basılı seçkilerde yer almış, TPLondon tarafından yayınlanan İngilizce dilindeki ilk Türk Bilimkurgu Hikâyeleri Antolojisi, “Anthology of Turkish Science Fiction Stories” kitabında “Trojan 137” adlı eseri ile yer almıştır. 2025’te bilim felsefesini konu alan iki dilli eseri “Doğa Üzerine ve Yönteme Karşı – On Nature & Against Method” adlı felsefi manifestoyu yayımlamıştır. Ayrıca "Mavi Anadolu'nun Canavarları - IYON 7" adlı bilimkurgu & fantastik evreninin yaratıcısıdır. Spotify üzerinden yayımlanan bilim felsefesi ve şiiri buluşturan “Demokritos’un Çocukları” adlı podcastin sunuculuğunu yapmaktadır. Yapıtlarında sıklıkla fiziği şiirle buluşturarak bilimsel hayal gücünü edebî bir dille harmanlamıştır. Şiirleri de düzenli olarak “Yerli Bilimkurgu Yükseliyor” dergisinde yayınlanmaktadır.
