ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോര എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിൻറെ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗമാണിത്. എന്നാൽ ഒന്നാം ഭാഗത്തിന്റെ പകിട്ടിനെ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് രണ്ടാം ഭാഗം. ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോര അത് ഇറങ്ങിയ കാലത്ത് വ്യത്യസ്തതകൾ കൊണ്ട് വായനക്കാരെ പിടിച്ചിരുത്തിയ പുസ്തകം ആയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗമാകട്ടെ അതിഭാവുകത്വവും രതിയും അതിമാനുഷികവുമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾ കുത്തി നിറച്ച് വിരസമാക്കി കളഞ്ഞു.

കോരപ്പാപ്പനെ എതിർക്കാൻ ആർക്കും ധൈര്യമില്ലാത്തതിനാലും കരിമ്പുലി കടിച്ചുകീറുമോ എന്ന ഭയത്താലും എന്നെ കൊന്നു നെഞ്ചിൽ കൈകുത്തിയിറക്കി എവിടേലും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുമോയെന്ന പേടിയോടെയും എഴുതി തുടങ്ങട്ടെ...

'കോരപ്പാപ്പന് സ്തുതിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ' എന്ന പുസ്തകം രണ്ടുദിവസം കൊണ്ടാണ് വായിച്ചു തീർന്നത്. ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോര ഓരോ താളിലും നമ്മളെ പിടിച്ചിരുത്തും. എന്നാൽ ഈ പുസ്തകം അങ്ങനെയല്ല. ഒരുപക്ഷെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ബുക്ക്‌ വരുന്നുവെന്ന് പറയുമ്പോൾ അത്രയും പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ കാത്തിരുന്നതാകാം ഈ നിരാശയുടെ കാര്യം.

ഇന്നത്തെ ഭൗമരാഷ്ട്രീയ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളും വർത്തമാന കേരളവും എന്തിന് ഏറെ പറയുന്നു ട്രംപും (പതിനെട്ടാംകൂറ്റർ) ഇലുമിനാറ്റിയും ഹൈപ്പേഷ്യയും എപ്സ്റ്റീൻ ഫയൽസും കൊറിയൻ ഡ്രാമയും കെ പോപ്പ് പാട്ടുകളും അടുത്തിടെ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മരണത്തിന്റെ അനുഭവം വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഭാവന ചിത്രം അനോമിയും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തോട് ചേർത്തുവായിക്കാം.

ഇടയ്ക്ക് കഥയെഴുത്ത് എന്നപേരിൽ എഴുത്തുകാരൻ തന്നെ കഥാപാത്രമായി മാറിയോ എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നിയിരുന്നു. കഥ ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് നടക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് ഊട്ടിയുറപ്പിക്കാൻ വികെ ശ്രീരാമനെയും ( VK Sreeraman )അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വളർത്തുനായ മാൾട്ടിയും വരെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളായി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. മെൻസ് അസോസിയേഷനും ജെൻസിയും ഈ ബുക്കിലുണ്ട്.

ടിഡിയുടെ എഴുത്തിൽ രതിയ്ക്ക് ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സ്ഥാനം നൽകുന്നതായി പലപ്പോഴും തോന്നിയെങ്കിലും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ കുറച്ചുകൂടി കൈയൊതുക്കത്തിൽ രതിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വർണനകൾ എഴുതിയതുപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു.

പുസ്തകത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് കൂടുതൽ വിശദീകരണം നൽകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല. എന്തൊക്കെ വന്നാലും ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ തട്ട് താണുതന്നെ ഇരിക്കും. കോരപ്പാപ്പൻ വരുമ്പോൾ എന്തൊക്കെയോ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും കോരപ്പാപ്പൻ നെഗറ്റീവ് കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിക്കുമെന്നും മനസിലാകുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും പുസ്തകം എനിക്ക് വളരെ ഹൈ തന്നില്ല എന്നത് യാഥാർഥ്യമാണ്. ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോര എന്നെ ഇതുവരെ വിട്ടുപോയിട്ടില്ല എന്നതും വസ്തുതയാണ്. പക്ഷെ ഓവർ ഹൈപ്പ് കൊടുക്കാതെ വായിക്കാൻ പറ്റുന്ന ഒരു പുസ്തമാണിത്.

വായനക്കാരുടെ ഭാവനാതലം വ്യത്യാസമായതിനാൽ ഒരു എഴുത്തും വെറുതെയാകില്ല.

ഒരുപാട് ഹെപ്പ് നു ശേഷമാണ് ആദ്യ ഭാഗം വായിച്ചത്, അത് കൊണ്ടാണോ എന്നറിയില്ല,ഒരു ശരാശരി വായനാനുഭവം മാത്രമായിരുന്നു എനിക്ക് ആദ്യ ഭാഗം, രണ്ടാം ഭാഗത്തിലേക്ക് വരുമ്പോളും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ Just okay എന്ന അഭിപ്രായം - അത്രമാത്രം.

ആദ്യം ഭാഗം പോലെ തന്നെ ഒരേ രീതിയിൽ ഒരേ structure ലൂടെ തന്നെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നു, ആദ്യം മുതലേ കഥ ബിൽഡ് ബിൽഡ് ചെയ്ത് അവസാന പേജുകളിൽ തിടുക്കത്തോടെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞു തീർത്തത് വായനയെ കാര്യമായി ബാധിച്ചു, ഇത് തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ആദ്യ ഭാഗത്തിന്റെ പോരായ്മയും. കൂടാതെ ഒരുപാട് വാക്കുകളുടെയും, സന്ദര്ഭങ്ങളുടെയും repetition, കഥയ്ക്ക് പൂർണമായി സപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ പേജുകൾ നീണ്ട വർണ്ണനകൾ, സാമാന്യം നല്ല രീതിയിൽ മടുപ്പിച്ചു.

Apart from this, ഇട്ടിക്കോര എന്ന കഥയുടെ വേൾഡ് ബിൽഡിംഗ്‌, ഡിസ്‌കസ് ചെയ്യുന്ന തീം, കൺസപ്റ്റുകൾ എല്ലാം തന്നെ നമ്മൾ ഇതുവരെ മലയാളത്തിൽ കാണാത്തതാണ് അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ, ഇട്ടിക്കോര മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ ഒരു വേറിട്ട, ഒരുറച്ച കാൽവെയ്പ്പ് തന്നെയാണ്.

എന്തൂട്ട് coconut ആണിത്? Can't believe this is from the same author who wrote Francis Ittikora / Suganthi Enna Aandal Devanayaki.

Francis Ittykora is a predator and an abuser in the first installment. In this book, I think the author was trying to wash Ittykora of his predatory nature and abuses. See, it’s not an issue to make such characters titular or central. But the problem here is that the author’s language celebrates the character. I think TDR is oscillating between two things in confusion: one, the language with which he wrote the previous novels, and two, the criticism leveled against his language. This novel isn’t any different. In short, terrible.

This novel by T. D. Ramakrishnan is the sequel to *Francis Itty Cora*, featuring Korappappan, the leader of the Eighteenth Clan, born in Kunnamkulam, Kerala. *Francis Itty Cora* became a cult classic for its intricate blend of history, culture, science, and mythology, and was one of the most discussed Malayalam novels of its time. With its open ending, readers eagerly anticipated a sequel.

**Spoilers ahead**

In my opinion, however, the sequel does not live up to its predecessor. The story follows the survival of Xavier Itty Cora, whose body is revived through advances in modern medical science. This ultimately paves the way for Korappappan's return after nearly 500 years by inhabiting Xavier's body. The souls of Hypatia and Jamila Savera also reappear later in the narrative.

The novel remains engaging for most of its length, but the climax—especially the sequence involving the tunnel—feels rushed and less convincing than the rest of the story. The tunnel had always been portrayed as one of the clan's greatest secrets, so the ease with which the protagonists reach it diminishes some of the mystery that had been carefully built up over two novels.

Overall, the book attempts to reflect the cultural and societal shifts that have taken place since the publication of the first novel. It touches on Hallyu culture, Gen Z, youth violence, drug use, and contemporary world politics. Towards the end, the Eighteenth Clan amends its gospel at Korappappan's instruction to reflect the transformations that have occurred over the past five centuries.

Unfortunately, the enigmatic aura that made Korappappan such a compelling cult figure in *Francis Itty Cora* is significantly diminished here. He is portrayed as someone who advocates feminist ideals, yet he frequently comes across as impulsive, short-tempered, and excessively violent. To me, these traits contradict the wisdom, restraint, and foresight that defined his character in the first novel. If he is willing to revise the clan's gospel to accommodate the changes of the last 500 years, one would also expect him to recognize that barbaric punishments and gruesome murders have no place in modern society. That inconsistency made it difficult for me to reconcile this version of Korappappan with the one I had admired in the original.

The novel ends on another open note, but based on my reading experience, I am not particularly eager for another sequel.

That said, I still enjoyed several aspects of the book. I particularly liked the metafictional element where the author himself appears as the first-person narrator ("Kathayezhuth"), and the way real contemporary personalities, such as V. K. Sreeraman, are seamlessly woven into the fictional narrative. Those elements added an enjoyable layer to the storytelling.

In a nutshell, I enjoyed the time I spent reading *Korappappanu Sthuthiyayirikkatte*, but unlike *Francis Itty Cora*, it never felt truly special. It is an engaging sequel, yet it lacks the originality, mystery, and charisma that made its predecessor unforgettable.

ടി ഡി രാമകൃഷ്ണന്റെ പ്രശസ്ത നോവലായ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗമാണ് എകദേശം പതിനഞ്ചു വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു ശേഷം പുറത്തിറങ്ങുന്ന "കോരപ്പാപ്പനു സ്തുതിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ" എന്ന നോവൽ. ടിഡി രാമകൃഷ്ണന്റെ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ എഴുത്തു ശൈലി തന്നെയാണ് ഈ നോവൽ പിന്തുടരുന്നത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ നോവലിൽ നിന്നും വിഭിന്നമായി പതിനെട്ടാം കൂറ്റുകാരുടെ ഇടയിലാണീ കഥ പൂർണമായും നടക്കുന്നത്. മാത്രമല്ല കഴിഞ്ഞ നോവലിൽ ചരിത്രം, ഗണിതശാസ്ത്രം മുതലായവ മുഴച്ചു നിന്നെങ്കിൽ ഇതിൽ അതെല്ലാം വിഴുങ്ങി പൂർണ്ണമായും മായികത കൈയേറി. എങ്കിലും എളുപ്പം വായിച്ചു തീർക്കാവുന്ന നോവൽ. കഥ പറയുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് താൽപര്യം ഉള്ളവർ തുടർന്നു വായിച്ചാൽ മതി.
സേവ്യർ ഇട്ടിക്കോര മരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. പകരം അദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രീയവും മാന്ത്രീകവുമായ രീതികളിലൂടെ കോരപ്പാപ്പന്റെ ആത്മാവു സന്നിവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ സേവ്യർ ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ ശരീരവും ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ ആത്മാവും വച്ച് കൊണ്ട് പൂർണ്ണമായും കോരപ്പാപ്പനായി മാറാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന കഥയാണീ നോവൽ പറയുന്നത്. കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പതിനെട്ടാം കൂറ്റുകാരുടെ ഇടയിലെ കള്ളത്തരങ്ങൾ, പര്സ്പര സ്പർദ്ധ എന്നിവയും പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നു. മരിച്ചവരും ജീവിച്ചരിക്കുന്നവരും കഥാപാര്രങ്ങളായിവരുന്നതാണീ നോവൽ,
സേവിയർ ഇട്ടിക്കോര, മൊറിഗാമി , ഫാദർ ജിയോവാനി, രേഖ,കഥയെഴുത്ത്,ബെന്നി മുതലായ ഒന്നാം നോവലിലെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും പുതുതായി അവതരിക്കുന്നവരും ഇതിലുണ്ട്. ഇറ്റലി, യു എസ്, കൊറിയ, കുന്നംകുളം എന്നീ ലോകരാജ്യങ്ങളിലാണീ കഥ നടക്കുന്നത്. കാനി ബാലിസത്തിന്റെ ചിത്രീകരണവും മഹത്വവൽക്കരണവും ഈ നോവലിലും വിവരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
വായനക്കാരെ പിടിച്ചിരുത്തുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ള എഴുത്ത് ശൈലി. എങ്കിലും നല്ല രീതിയിൽ പോവുന്ന നോവൽ അവസാനിക്കുന്നത് ഇത്രേയെ ഉള്ളോ എന്നൊരു തോന്നൽ ഉളവാക്കിക്കൊണ്ടാണ്. അത് പോലെ നിരാശജനകമായ ക്ലൈമാക്സ്. പിന്നെ ഇതുവരെയില്ലാത്ത സ്ത്രീ ശാക്തീകരണം പറഞ്ഞു ശബരിമലയെ തോണ്ടിയത് സിറാജുന്നീസ പോലെ എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ പ്രൊപ്പഗണ്ഡ എഴുത്തായി തോന്നി. എങ്കിലും വായിച്ചിരിക്കാവുന്ന നോവൽ. രണ്ടും താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഇട്ടിക്കോരയുടെ തട്ട് ഉയർന്നു തന്നെ നിൽക്കും

ഒരു പതിറ്റാൻഡിനു ശേഷം രണ്ടാം അദ്ധ്യായം. ഒരുപാട് പ്രതീക്ഷകൾ വച്ചു കാത്തിരുന്നു വാങ്ങി വായിച്ച പുസ്തകം.

എന്തിനാണ് ഇതിനൊരു രണ്ടാം ഭാഗം?
ആദ്യ പുസ്‌തകം നല്ല രീതിയിൽ അവസാനിച്ചതാണ

ഈ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ മനസ്സിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

പഴയ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം തന്നെ ഇതിലും ഉണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ ഈ തവണ കൂടുതൽ കഥ നടക്കുന്നത് international ആണ്. പഴയ പ്രധാനപെട്ട പല കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെയും പേരിനു ചേർത്ത മാതിരി തോന്നി.
പല സാമൂഹിക പ്രസക്തമായ വിഷയങ്ങളും കഥയിൽ പ്രതിപാതിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
എപ്സ്റ്റീൻ ഫയലുകളും ഡോണൾഡ് ട്രമ്പും വാർത്തകളിൽ നിറഞ്ഞു നിൽക്കുന്ന സമയം, കൂടാതെ KLFൽ "Trump ഒരു പതിനേട്ടാം കൂറ്റുകാരൻ " എന്ന session.
അതെ! ഇതെല്ലാം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്‌വായിക്കാൻ ഒരുപാടുണ്ട് ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ.
പല സാമ്യതകളും.
കഥ മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുമ്പോൾ പലയിടത്തും കോരപ്പാപ്പന്റെ supernatural power കാണമെങ്കിലും പലയിടത്തും അദ്ദേഹം നിസ്സഹായനായി കാണപ്പെട്ടു.
അധികാരവും പണവും കൈവശമുള്ളവന്റെ സ്വാർത്ഥ മനോഭാവവും, അതെങ്ങനെയെല്ലാം ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നും തുറന്നു കാണിക്കുന്നു.
വായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പല ഭാഗത്തും Lag അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു, പല പേജ്കളും skip ചെയ്തു വരെ വായിച്ചു.
എന്നാൽ അവസാന ഭാഗത്തേക്ക്‌ എത്തുമ്പോൾ അത്ര നേരവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന Lag cover up ചെയ്യാൻ ഉള്ള ഒരു ഓട്ടം ആയിരുന്നു.
കാത്തിരുന്ന ക്ലൈമാക്സ്‌ ഒക്കെ വായിച്ചപ്പോളേക്കും തീർന്ന പോലെ, ഒട്ടും satisfied അല്ലാതെ ക്ലൈമാക്സ്‌. വളരെ dramatic ആയി ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റുന്ന ഒരു ക്ലൈമാക്സ്‌ ആയിരുന്നു.
കഥ തീരുമ്പോൾ ഇനി ഇതിനു ഒരു 3ാം അധ്യായം വരുമോ എന്ന രീതിയിൽ ആണ് നിർത്തുന്നത്.

Inshort - കോരപ്പാപ്പൻ 1st part കൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ഒരു fanbase ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെടുത്തതാണ്, അതു വച്ചു താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യാതെ, അധികം പ്രതീക്ഷകൾ വച്ചു ഈ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കാതിരിക്കുക.

really regret having given my time to this much hyped second part of francis Ittycora.
What made the first book seem like a worthy read despite its plethora of short comings was the scope of the authors imagination. A 16th century pepper trader from Kerala sailing across the world and engaging of hard to imagine adventures and leaving behind a legacy that seems forgotten. This was what pulled me towards the second book which i ordered as soon as it was listed on Amazon.
But, to be very concise , it was a disappointing journey. Lots of rambling. Lots of stupid stuff- an example- Cora app- where you can drop your blood on the mobile screen and identify if you are a descendent of Itty Cora (.....), scientists in an institute bringing back to life one neuron of a dead descendent which following some ritualistic practice lets in the soul of the 500 year dead Itty Cora, and so on and forth it goes..
Very rarely have i regretted a read and yes, this was one such instance!

As a person who read both the book in this series "Korappappanu Sthuthiyayirikkatte" is my favorite. The author has Answered a lot of questions that I had when I read the first book "Franics Itty Cora" in this book. He has presented this Story in such way that the reader is fully immersed into the book. Each charcters in the book was well presented and Totally well connected to the story. The story shows us what can happen if Power and Money gets into the hand of a Businessman. The only negative side of this book is there is still a lot of question that has not been answered and Story ends as a cliff hanger.

After reading Francis Itty Cora, I had very high expectations for this sequel. The first novel created a powerful myth around secret histories, knowledge, and global networks. I happened to read this book during the discussions surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and elite networks. As a result, many moments in the novel felt uncannily close to our present socio-political reality. I felt a kind of incompleteness after finishing the book, and many incongruent events in the novel, which made the reading experience mediocre.

The first novel built a powerful myth around secret histories, forbidden knowledge, and shadowy global networks. Far from feeling timely or prophetic, the novel's attempts at relevance felt clumsy and forced, like it was grasping at headlines it didn't really understand. What should have been a gripping, layered read instead became a frustrating, mediocre experience that never came close to earning the legacy of its predecessor.
