The New York Times Bestseller, Beyond Me, captured reader's hearts.

Now the stunning story of Quinn and James continues...

It was supposed to be a love story....

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?

I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.

Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?

If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?

True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy.

It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

James and Quinn steam up the pages again in Chasing Me. Their chemistry will pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat in this deliciously sexy story of love, trust, and forgiveness. --NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Kelly Elliott

Jennifer Probst's Beyond Me was my favourite story in the Sex on the Beach series last year. I loved Quinn and James, they were complete opposites but they brought the best out in each other and they made a great couple. The story was a novella so the romance happened fairly fast but I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a quick read with a nice happily ever after and I thought it was perfect summer reading.

When I first found out that the author's were writing new books in this series I was excited, I was expecting more of the same and I kind of assumed that each author would be writing about a new couple but the three new books would all be linked by friendships between the couples like the first three were. I wish that had been the case because if it was I'm sure I would have loved this book.

Unfortunately the authors decided to revisit the previous couples and mess around with their HEAs with a load of pointless drama. They decided to throw in things like love triangles and possible cheating, practically destroying the relationships we had rooted for before. Now I kind of get where they were going with this, live isn't all sunshine and roses - we all know that! - but I read to escape from reality. I don't mind reading relationship drama if that's what I'm expecting going in but I really, REALLY hate it when I'm lead to believe a story is complete and a HEA is achieved only to have the rug pulled out from under me.

That's when I start to think that even though there wasn't really any more story to tell the authors knew a cash cow when they saw one and decided to ramp up the drama-llama crap just to get more money out of their fans. And that just pisses me off.

I hate to say it but I couldn't even finish this crap, I started to hate both of the main characters and it almost destroyed my love of the previous book. I'm still a fan of Jennifer Probst so it really pains me to rate this book 1 star but if I couldn't finish reading a book that's all it deserves. I'll still read more from this author in the future but I'm damn sure that I won't pick up any new books in this series.

#ChasingMe

Chasing Me by Jennifer Probst picks off where it last left off on Beyond Me. We are reunited with James and Quinn as they adjust to their new life back in Chicago. With Quinn set on her goals and ambition with school and work, James is struggling to find his way with his career in the arts. No longer relying on his parents for support, James must now face his insecurities and fears. But luckily for James, he has a strong support system in Quinn. She unconditionally loves him regardless if he has money or not. What I adore about this couple and book, was the realistic relationship of Quinn and James as they both learn to lean on each other for moral support and love. Chasing Me was another sweet and romantic follow-up to Quinn and James story. As always, Ms. Probst delivers a great story line with lots of sensual and sexy scenes.

I quite enjoyed this continuation of James and Quinn's story, begun in Beyond Me (which ended on a happy note) as they adjust to couplehood and living in Chicago. They are both pursuing careers, and while Quinn is moving places James is still struggling with his art classes and his own internal knowledge that he isn't good enough for Quinn. He's forsaken his trust fund money to prove to her and himself that he can make it on his own. I thought that this was a realistic portrayal of a couple making decisions for their future and learning what it means to really trust and rely on each other. James's character is the one that exhibits the most growth and I really enjoyed seeing that change from the spoiled brat he was when Quinn first met him to the responsible man he is becoming. I like that the story was told from both Quinn and James's points of view. Also, the chemistry between them is still hot and steamy and the love scenes are rich and emotional. 4 stars, and definitely worth the read!

In this surprising conclusion to her first book, James and Quinn are trying to make their one week vacation relationship work in the real world. James has followed Quinn to her native Chicago and is trying to live life without his million dollar trust fund. He has enrolled in art school, and Quinn is finishing up her social work degree and working at both a nursing home and a rehab institute.
While I was incredibly excited to see that their story continued, I was less excited when I actually started reading. Lack of communication and general insecurities plagued the couple from the start. Not to mention lots of self-sabotage, and the romance was anything but. I was incredibly disappointed that this book was filled with a couple who claimed that there was no one else for them not be able to discuss both the highs and the lows of their everyday life. That's not a relationship. If you can't share the bad with the good, then you aren't meant to be. And neither one seemed able to do that. Throw in parents who keep putting negative thoughts about their relationship in their heads, and it's a wonder this book had the ending it did.
Which leads me to that. That ending is something I wish I had seen earlier in the book, or even continued out into a third book. I enjoy Ms. Probst's writing, but this story lacked the heat that the first book had.

I barely gave this book 3 stars. Mostly because, gosh, I'm so mad at the teacher, Anna! I want a good closure! I mean, at first I thought she'll be the teacher that push her students so hard it'd appear almost as if she's the villain but actually she's not. But NO, SHE IS THE VILLAIN! Why Miss Jennifer didn't give us a good ending in terms of her 'violation', I have no idea.

Sure I enjoyed James and Quinn's relationship, but their obstacles are simply too much and to real it made me want to see real solutions but it seems that Jennifer Probst only give us the 'happy' ending instead of 'real' happy ending they deserved. Quinn's dad, James's bitch buddy, Anna the dirty teacher.. They're classic and strong twists in this book but the ending is simply too weak and could be so much better.

So yeah, 3 stars. I still love Jennifer Probst's writing though. :))

In Chasing Me Quinn and James are trying to find their way as a couple in Chicago. Quinn is working hard to accomplish the goals she has set and James is learning to become the man he now wants to be. I loved seeing James change into this new man, not wanting to fall back on his parents and his trust fund, but to make it on his own. He struggles a little bit and tries to change too much and Quinn can since something is off. They have some problems and people who try and get in their way. I loved their chemistry and their passion for each other. And the ending was so sweet! I really enjoyed it and I finished it in one setting.

Such a great story! I loved the first book but glad this was a continuation. It's nice to read a story that shows you need to put work into getting your happy ending. I love how there are struggles by both characters that they need to overcome. Jennifer shows the "growing"up a young love needs to do and the trials we let others put us through. It's amazing how we let others words and our own brains stop us from being happy. Also how we need to have more confidence in ourselves and trust in the ones we love! I feel Jennifer captured that in this cute story!

Probst brought an unexpected edge to CHASING ME. She tests her characters’ loyalty, trust and love for each other making readers question the outcome of the story. I held my breath with anticipation from the beginning until the very last page. Fans of Quinn and James will not be disappointed.

Chasing Me is the second installment in Quinn and James story in Jennifer Probst’s Sex on the Beach series. Though the sequel to Beyond Me was not a need, it was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed Quinn and James before and getting more of their story was a great treat.

The story starts shortly after Quinn and James’ happy-every-after in Beyond ME. Obviously, despite their HEA, life goes on. After moving to Chicago, they will encounter life troubles of insecurities and trust. Rightly so, considering how they had a rough start. While Quinn starts her career, James struggles to adjust to his new life without his trust fund and weekend parties. Making a name for himself without his parents’ connection and money will be a big hit on him but he is determined to make it work. A very commendable move on his part but working hard is not what he’s used to, and problems will arise. Quinn, on the other hand, still has her head on straight. She’s planned out her moves from the very beginning, and she is following through. Unfortunately, with James in the picture, moving forward will not be as smooth as she planned.

I enjoyed seeing their story unfold in this book. The struggles were real, and so were the insecurities. I love what James has done to his life, and I love that he is trying his best for the better. Quinn, well, she was a bit different in this book. She is still very smart and very driven, but her ambitions were too high almost taking away her very nice persona. Almost.

Because I didn’t expect a sequel to Beyond Me, I had no idea where Ms. Probst was leading the story or this series of that matter. I was actually bracing myself for cliffhanger thinking a possibility for the third book. Unfortunately, I can’t confirm a third book, simply because I don’t know, but I can tell you that there is no cliffhanger in this book. I’ve always enjoyed Jennifer Probst writing, and though this is not my favorite of her books, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to more of her work.

The continuation of the story of Quinn and James was not an easy one on the two of them. James has done a complete 180 in his life and Quinn is still pursuing her goals and almost zen like in her strive to become something great. For someone who wants to become a social worker, I was a bit confused how Quinn didn't realize that James was losing his way in trying to become what he thought she needed him to be. When her father and Brian both put him down, she doesn't do much defending or setting them straight. It left me wondering how she couldn't see what was happening to his self-confidence and that he was having doubts about himself. James just wants to give Quinn the best he can and goes above and beyond to try and prove himself to her. Add in all of the additional stress in their lives and you knew there was going to be a breaking point. It was a short read and had a good story, but I just couldn't get past a person who wanted to be a social worker not realizing what was going on in her own life. Not calling Brian out on his feelings and letting her dad take cheap shots at James every chance he had. To even suggest to her that Brian would be a better choice should have had her setting things right and not making her boyfriend feel uncomfortable in his presence every time. Just didn't get why she felt James should have to put up with it or why her father felt it was okay. He wasn't exactly a great role model to her so why she let him make James feel inferior was just wrong to me. Kudos to James for manning up and giving it his all and then trying again and again when he failed.

Although I do understand that this book is the second installment in a series, I simply cannot say that I would be interested in reading the first book. This tragically dramatic, immature romance was quite predictable and redundant. It becomes very clear from the beginning of the novel that there is a huge obstacle in the primarily primal sexual relationship between James and Quinn: insecurity. Every single chapter, regardless of whether it was through James' or Quinn's narration, repeatedly conveyed the insecurity of each of them in regards to their relationship. Could they make it? Does Quinn deserve better? Is Quinn holding James back from his creativity in his art? Is their love enough? Most of these mental dilemmas are only temporarily resolved through sex. Which is an additional issue because James is holding back his apparent primal instinct to tear Quinn apart in sex, which bothers Quinn. Furthermore, the readers are constantly reminded in each chapter that James is, in fact, a trust fund baby. He could just throw all of this struggle away and sail off in a yacht with a million dollars to blow just by making one phone call to his parents. I get the concept of having to prove yourself, which both characters do, and I get the concept of individuality, but the repetition and consistent insecurity felt like it was all to make the book longer. One last thing: I am convinced that Ava, James' art teacher/mentor, dressed like Cruella DeVille. Every time (and I do mean every time) she is introduced into a scene in the book, she is wearing red and black.

Where to start .... well James just about breaks my heart in this the continuation of the story begun in Beyond Me.

James wants to be all Quinn deserves and he tries his damnedest but what he does not realise is that he already is all Quinn wants.

This book is James' journey of self discovery, of learning to believe in yourself and love.

You know from the beginning that something is gonna happen - as the story builds so does the tension. I kept thinking it's this chapter, no it's this chapter, you can sense it coming and when it does - bam! It hits you right in the heart and it hurts.

A truly great book and I think one of Jennifer's best. It just goes to prove to me why Jennifer is one of the finest romance writers out there.

Chasing Me is the continuation of the story of James and Quinn. I went back to read Beyond Me again which was the first story. I just love the story of these two. Jennifer Probst has a way of grabbing you and bringing you into a story right away. Chasing Me is no different. Even though this is technically a novella I feel like it's well developed and has a developed story that a lot of novellas seem to lack. It's a real story about real people with with life struggles. I like that about this book. The reader can relate to their life. You know from the beginning something bad is going to happen. Without giving away any spoilers I will say that the ending was done perfectly. A great read that I finished in one evening. Entertaining, engrossing with the spark that still seems to fly with these two. Loved it!

This story continues where Beyond Me left off; Quinn and James's life in Chicago. Based on things James thought or said we, as an audience, knew things were going to get rough. Life started pulling them in different directions and it was sad that outside forces were trying to pull them away. I loved their passion and love for each other and the strength they found in one another. Another good book from Jennifer Probst!

There was too much drama for a short story. No communication in the relationship. I did not like heroine. I was irritated by her. She supposed to become a social worker, but she did not see what was going on in her relationship. She did not even try to solve that. She just ran or had sex with hero. She was mad, when James did not believe in himself. When he was putting himself down. On the other hand she did not defend him, when her father and Brian put him down.

Grazie, ora posso iniziare.>

Avevamo lasciato i nostri eroi a Chicago.

Glielo chiede? Certo che no! Diventare noioso a letto.

Lascio a voi scoprirlo.

2.5/5 per me.

Is it bad that I don't really like Quinn? She seems like a self important jerk. She can't have a meaningful conversation with James about, well anything. They just have quick sex with 'lots of orgasms' and that's pretty much it. Not my favorite.

Probst brought an unexpected edge to CHASING ME. She tests her characters' loyalty, trust and love for each other making readers question the outcome of the story.  I held my breath with anticipation from the beginning until the very last page.  Fans of Quinn and James will not be disappointed.

OMG this boy is an imbecile, idiot, nitwit, numpty SHEESH he needs a good kick up the bottom. The definition of poor little rich boy, seriously if you looked it up in a dictionary you would see a picture of James. OK, so he wanted to be a better person for Quinn but she fell in love with him just the way he was, why mess with a good thing *sigh* I just don’t get why he would forgo his money to be a better person. Yes, I know money doesn’t buy happiness but for goodness sake if you’ve got it why not life comfortably. As I said IDIOT.

The plot is all kinds of angst ridden and a times it is obvious to see the twists ahead. The mention of plot developments with the other novellas gives spoilers for the other stories.

I hate how other people’s interference add to the doubt and insecurities within a relationship, made worse if that person is a loved one. Feeding negativity is just NOOOO. There are extremes of personalities at play within the narrative adding to the drama. Add into that the pressures of working while attending college, time restrictions add a void in any relationship.

In depth look at rehabilitation from addiction added depth to the narrative as well as expanding Quinn’s character; providing insight into her decisions and desire to help others. Re-establishing how deeply we aer shaped by the elements we are subjected to during our formative years. Having personal experience with alcoholism with my Ex and seeing how it shapes children was quite eye-opening in ways I hadn’t considered; especially the part about them being driven to succeed and be an overachiever WOW.

Relationships require work and should be given the appropriate amount of appreciation as any other important aspect of our lives. Something both Quinn and James seem to have forgotten and pay the price for :( It seems the whole world is against their relationship and conspires to tear them apart.

Elements of the abuse of power by authority figures add further tension to an already strained plot.

Chasing Me reiterates the point that you can’t change who you are for people and sometimes turmoil builds stronger foundations.

Jennifer Probst's new book, “Chasing Me,” part of the Sex on the Beach series, is a wonderful read. I previously read Jennifer’s “Beyond Me,” which I also thought was fantastic. If you are anything like me and love a good series, then I suggest you read both “Beyond Me” and "Chasing Me” - in that order, so that you can see how Jennifer’s characters develop.

Now, as I said, I love a good series because I like seeing what happens after, how the characters grow, whether their relationships last, and if there any twists in turns in their future. Unfortunately, most books are single storylines or, even if you are lucky enough to become engrossed reading a good series, you only see snippets of prior characters’ lives because the author is now focused on the other characters. I have found, though, in reading other series by Jennifer, that she expertly weaves former characters in and out of her books in a series so that the reader really feels like everyone’s stories are still being told -you get more than just a glimpse here or there.

Even better, however, is "Chasing Me" in the Sex in the Beach series because this book truly is a second book about Quinn and James - the main characters from "Beyond Me.” In “Beyond Me,” Quinn meets James while on Spring Break and, after dealing with some bumps and bruises (figurative, not literal), they decide that they are meant to be even though they come from completely different worlds. What a treat it was for me to be able to read another book about these two wonderful, complex characters and to be able to continue to peek into their lives. I loved reading in “Chasing Me” about how they were navigating being together in the real world, watching how they faced and dealt with new challenges, seeing how their relationship matured and grew, and learning whether or not they would withstand these new pressures. I strongly suggest you check out this book and this series.

I received this book for free in exchange for a honest review.
