Jerry was born in London in 1969. His dad’s job as a meteorologist meant he moved around a lot growing up, including three years living on an RAF base in Germany. His family roots lie in Plymouth, Devon.

I absolutely loved this book. The writing is beautifully crafted; engaging, immersive, and full of emotion, and the pacing kept me turning pages long into the night.

What really stood out to me was how well-developed the characters were. They felt real, complex, and relatable, and I found myself deeply invested in their journeys. The story itself strikes a perfect balance between heart and tension, with moments that made me reflect, smile, and even feel a bit emotional.

There’s a depth to the themes that lingers after you’ve finished reading, which is always a sign of a truly memorable book. It’s the kind of story that stays with you, making you think about it days later.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a compelling, beautifully written read. Easily one of my favourites, I’m already wishing I could experience it again for the first time and will definitely reread in the future.

Jerry Ibbotson can write. That’s the thought that kept occurring to me as I read this ambitious and remarkable book.

It’s a story that takes us from the creation of the universe right up to (very nearly) the end of human history, as the fundamental forces of good and evil battle for control of the streets of suburban York, and the Minster that lies at the centre of the city.

It’s told through a few key characters - not all of whom are who, or what, they appear to be, but all of whom are intriguing and relatable.

You might not have read much - any - urban fantasy before. Neither had I, but this book is a great way to dip your toe into the genre.

I really enjoyed reading this debut paranormal/urban fantasy novel written by Jerry Ibbotson! I found the characters really fascinating and the story itself linked with the local setting really well. I’ve always been extremely interested with the history of my local city, so adding the paranormal elements on top was really fun and made the story almost believable. The main characters were all interesting and seemed a lot more relatable and human than I thought they would be, as a lover of dual perspective and different time periods this book really had a lot of the things I loved! It’s a full 5 stars from me!

Featherfall was my first dip into urban fantasy, I’m usually a horror and crime fan. There was so much I enjoyed about this book. The author has brought the characters to life, making them incredibly human, even when they are far from human. They are relatable, authentic and witty and it was impossible not to care about their fate. The setting added a layer of realism and charm, mixing places I’ve visited with the darker sides of the universe. The action is well paced and the story builds to an epic scene. In all, a well thought out, brilliantly written novel which I thoroughly enjoyed.
