Vampire in Crisis

Rate this book
Tessa's world exploded. She survived Deanna's inheritance.

She sees more, hears more … understands more. But more is not always better. Cody doesn’t like what's happening around him. Tessa has walked through hell and she has a lot more to go before she's clear. He plans on standing by her side – her guardian – whether she wants him to be there for her or not.

Jared can't believe all trails lead him into trouble. He'd escaped once. Tried to stay out of the mess since. But a friend is missing, and when he tries to get help, the person he confides in goes missing too.

The vampire world was never ready for Tessa before. The new Tessa? No one is ready for her.

Vampire in Crisis by Dale Mayer
Family Blood Ties Series Book Eight
Tessa was once just an outcast among her people for having a human side. Lately she's become their hero. As Tessa gains more knowledge and strength, she also gains more struggles. More enemies to find. Seen and unseen. And as usual life is just too busy to give her the time with Cody she desires.

Cody stands by Tessa's side through everything. Her protector. Whether she wants...or needs him to be.

Serus and Goran continue to fight side by side even while Serus has Rhia to worry over. Many of the other characters the reader has met through these books continue with struggles of their own. Such as; Jared, Chelsea, Jewel, David, Wendy, Ian, Sian, and Taz. The list of who can be trusted and who can't is growing smaller and smaller as they fight to close down the blood farms and stop the danger.

Once again Dale Mayer takes the readers on an adventure with the heroes and heroines, both human and vampire. This book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger as many in this series have. As always, they are worth the wait to find out what happens next.

If you haven't read the other's in this series, STOP. Read them in order or they won't make sense.

When we left Tessa, she was with Deanna and Hortran as they are dying. With the declaration she's The One, Hortran initiates the process to transfer all of Deanna's memories and knowledge. He also added his own, making a true overload of information. However it's Hortran's that was critical to her survival. It's all about the energy and we've already seen what Tessa can do with that. Unfortunately she's unconscious at the moment with a lot of people worried about her.

In the meantime, Jared and Clarissa recruit Taz to help them find Tobias. Taz sends them off to school knowing the process will take a while.

This whole thing brings a new level to the fore. We still have people and vampires disappearing, Sian and Wendy are still working with the data from the blood farm. Rhia needs to figure out what happened with Seth. Jewel is at Council Hall recuperating. David and all the others are still at the Vampire Hospital. They need to finish what they started here, releasing the prisoners and getting rid of all the bad guys.

What we know about the bad guys, they are enhanced physically, they have improved weaponry and they smell horrible when staked. On another level, they consider humans to be animals, they were cloning vampires, Goran took those out when his oldest son was killed. The higher ups want Goran, Serus, Cody and Tessa's DNA. They've been unsuccessful at their attempts so far.

Now Rhia's about to do the unthinkable, Clarissa is taken, Tessa has more than one battle to fight, Jared turns to the vampires for help again, and Bart the little weasel shows up again too.

That's only the beginning...fast-paced and exciting, as more answers are found and the trail to the blood farm bosses narrows.

I'm just going to keep reading, I really need to know what happens next!

Each book in this series is like popcorn - you can't stop eating it. Good writer, nice dilemma in the story which keeps you reading. If you don't like cliffhangers don't start on them.

You would think after all this time that Ms. Mayer would give our poor Tessa and her friends a break, but I do not see that happening in the near future. It was bad enough when everyone thought she was a freak, but now she has to figure out how to deal with the overload Deanna pushed into her head. With this new knowledge comes some interesting and scary powers. Her friends and family are not sure if they should be curious or afraid as Tessa fights to keep control of these escalating abilities. Ms. Mayer once again captivates her audience with great characters, drama , excitement and a storyline that pulls you in and keeps you in the middle of the challenge that seems to be unending. There are quite a few twists and turns to keep you guessing , banging your head and wondering if they will every be able to save everyone. Just when you think they might be getting ahead, you turn the page and Bam!!! You guessed it,in true Dale Mayer fashion another cliffhanger from He@# that makes you want to throw your e-reader and yell WTF!!! I am already having withdrawals why I wait for the next book and hope Ms. Mayer will take pity and write really fast.

Poor Tessa, Cody, and their group just can't catch a break. Things are at it again. Just when I thought that the story may finally be wrapping up, we get thrown another curveball.

After Deanne doing the mind download thingy, we find Tessa having an internal battle. We find out why Bart has been so squirrelly and we also learn what may have happened to Seth. Did the story progress further? Only a wee bit. We basically watch Tessa learn more about her new power.

This is book 8 of a series and CAN NOT be read as a stand alone. There is NOT a HEA but of course, another cliff hanger. Written as a multi pov (yes more than just Tessa and Cody's). The storyline is good, the characters are written well and their dialogue is entertaining.

All in all, another good addition to the series.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, but only if you have read the others.

Would I read more from this author? Yes, I have to. I'm beginning to think this series will ever end.

I. Have. No. Words. Well I do...but they are definitely not safe for a review LOL

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! But how much more do poor Tessa, Jared, and Cody have to go through? The story is again unique, intriguing, mysterious and action packed. There is never a dull moment and you don't want to put it down because you HAVE to know what happened next. And we are left with the most outrageous, unbelievable cliffhanger of the series thus far!

The characters are all very true to their personalities in the previous books. We see Tessa growing even more but start to get an inkling of doubt about how she is doing it. She manages to stay true to her honest, open, seeker-of-truth-and-justice style until...well I don't want to give anything away.

A must read! And I MUST READ the next one!!! I may go crazy if I have to wait too long LOL

How dare you make a series so good!

Are you serious? I just got this installment the other day when it was released and it went so quickly. I'm tired of everything being drawn out. I love not liking being tired after reading as though too part of the adventure. I need some closure here, who the hell is behind the flood farms and is this going to end nicely? Do not make the ending of this series dumb. There have been way too many books out lately with dumb endings, don't do that to me. Also please with a cherry on top, Do Not kill of Cody. Tessa needs him, to continue the good fight.

So this story begins with Tessa trying to recover from the download of information from Deanna. Will Tessa survive? Will Deanna become Tessa? Or will Tessa be able to fight Deanna off? This is a battle Tessa has with Deanna throughout the whole book. Wendy and Ian have discovered there are some not so good vampires at the Council Hall. When will this war ever end? Will everyone make it out alive after this book? There are more kidnappings and fights but who will make it out? Can't wait to read the next installment of this intense and great series.

Tessa is definitely in an ever growing crisis as this book progresses. We are seeing her go through so many changes in her life and personality that Cody, Goran, Serus, and the rest of the vampires on the good side are blind sided at what they see her doing. And there still looms the biggest question of them all. Is it Tessa or is it Deanna's personality coming through and taking over? I just have to get the next book. Like now...

Poor Tessa, she can never catch a break. Now she is in a hospital trying to stop the bad guys get again. She had met a very old vampire named Deanna who thinks Tessa is the one she needs to take over. Deanna's husband was one of the men at the blood farm, can Tessa trust Deanna? Tessa has saved so many vampires from the darkness of the blood farm. She had become a vampire hero
