شد سلام بإحكامٍ على الكيف داخل جيبه . قال الشُرطي :"
- هل كل شيءٍ على ما يرام ؟
رد سلام :
- كل شيء على ما يرام.
قال الشرطي ملحًا بإصرارٍ وهو ينظر إليه وكأنه يعلم ما اقتناه سلام لتوّه :
- هل هناكَ من مشكلٍ ؟
رد سلام :
-ليس هناكَ من مشكلٍ
قال الشرطي :
-احرص على أن يستمر الوضع على ما هو عليه.
غضب سلام من أن يُحادَث بتلك الطريقة دون داعٍ , لكن وجود الكيف في جيبه جعله يحمد الله على أنه لم يتم تفتيشه. قال وهو يحاول أن يبتسم :
-أنا صديقُ العالم.

Paul Bowles
252 books869 followersPaul Frederic Bowles grew up in New York, and attended college at the University of Virginia before traveling to Paris, where became a part of Gertrude Stein's literary and artistic circle. Following her advice, he took his first trip to Tangiers in 1931 with his friend, composer Aaron Copeland.
In 1938 he married author and playwright Jane Auer (see: Jane Bowles). He moved to Tangiers permanently in 1947, with Auer following him there in 1948. There they became fixtures of the American and European expatriate scene, their visitors including Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams and Gore Vidal. Bowles continued to live in Tangiers after the death of his wife in 1973.
Bowles died of heart failure in Tangier on November 18, 1999. His ashes were interred near the graves of his parents and grandparents in Lakemont, New York.

"Aqui no Marrocos, se ao amor faltava sutileza, ao
menos era franco. Os véus por cima dos rostos não o
perturbavam; há muito aprendera a decidir os traços por
trás deles. Apenas os dentes constituíam ainda um risco.
E os olhos eram para ele tão fáceis de ler quanto palavras.
Quando mostravam qualquer interesse, expressavam isto
com clareza, sem o menor sinal do puritanismo que ele
tanto detestava". (página 20)

بول بولز الذِي غرق في عشقِ طنجة يتحدثُ عنها في قصصه كأنه مِن أهلها . التفاصيل التي يوردها في قصصه حميمية جدًا لأهل طنجةَ , الأمر لا يتعلق فقط بأسماء الأماكن , بل بثقافةٍ بأكملِها .
مجموعة قصصية جميلة والترجمة كانت في المُستوى :)
