My reclusive billionaire bosses have a secret. They're dragon shifters from another realm. And they didn't just hire me to catalog rare art. They hired me because I might be their fated mate.
I knew I was going to work in a Swiss castle with access to one of the finest art collections I've ever heard about. Was there a twinge of questioning whether I was qualified for my dream job yet? Yes. But sometimes you have to get on the plane and buckle up.
I expected long hours in a dusty gallery. I absolutely did not expect a dragon prince and the rest of his thunder with plans to seduce me and make me theirs.
The problem? I might not be the one they’ve been waiting for after all. Fate hasn’t shown its hand. Without the mating lightning strike, these royal dragons can’t fully claim me.
And walking away from the three men I've fallen for might destroy us all.
Ellie Pond is an author of Paranormal Romance. Ellie’s had many professions, including costume designer, contract archeologist, organic farmer, fabric store owner, and airline gate agent. She’s happy to be a full-time writer now. She lives in New England with her three teenage sons, husband, and father. It’s a lot of testosterone. To combat all the Axe body spray in the house, Ellie likes to travel. You can follow her on social media for her travel adventures, when we can do that kind of thing again.
If you want a quick pallet cleanser, this could be a good option!
Very fast paced in terms of timeline and lacks character development. Be warned, it did feel a little insta-lust/love. While the main characters were all distinct, they were still lacking detail. Could be good or bad, if you want to paint your own ideas of the main characters then cool but it could be difficult to visualize them and the scenes. The FMC was somewhat complex but there were vibes of ‘shy nerdy girl gets hot jock’. Also, I don’t think this book passes the Bechdel test (could be wrong but if I am it’s only by a small margin).
There were little to no transitions within scenes and even in the timeline. I caught myself multiple times asking ‘wait how did they get there?’. The world building in the beginning was limited and details felt kinda dropped in and not organically woven into the plot.
The cliff hanger ending is probably the main reason I’ll read the second book.
OMG! Shadow of Wings is a Romantasy with fated mates and dragon shifters!! This is Raine’s story filled with art collections and three incredibly handsome shifters. I love how smart and career driven Raine is and wanting to do well at her dream job. Now her bosses Kieran, Evander, and Roark have a mission and a plan that she wasn’t expecting. I love that they have a deeper connection and their protectiveness over Raine is swoon worthy. I love their chemistry and how they slowly tell her the truth and let her make the choice. I also love the friendships Raine has and how they support her in every way. Their story gets even more interesting with that twist at the end leaving us wanting to know what happens next. I really enjoyed her story and how she won the hearts of these men. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advanced reader copy.
I always love how Ellie writes a why-choose romance and has such a variety of loveable characters, this book was no different!
It is filled with mystery about what is happening within the other realm, with incredible tension and dragon shifters! The immediate chemistry between Raine and each of the dragons was perfect! I am always drawn to the side characters, so naturally I LOVED Leopold. I loved Raine and Wren’s relationship; it felt so cozy.
I was stunned by how it ended and look forward to seeing where Ellie takes us next.
My only sadness is that this ended on a cliff-hanger and I cant wait to see how Roarke, Kieren and Evander make up for the (no spoilers). Raine's circumstances have definitely changed and how she starts to grow from being the "den-mother" to a woman who knows her own worth shows potential. Butler Leopold is the source of knowledge and his small reveals keep Roarke headed in the right direction.
I've been in quite the reading slump this year, so this was a fun, quick read that I didn’t want to put down, and I’m so thankful I got a chance to read. The chapters move quickly, so the time really flew by and kept me interested all the way to the end.
I really appreciated that in the world author Ellie Pond created, shifters are already a known species. Because of that, even though the FMC, Raine, is human, there isn’t the typical fallout or tension between her and the dragons. Despite most of her information on shifter coming from a magazine, I think it actually adds to her quirky and fun character. I also like how Raine pursues her passion for art—and her job—despite what others, like her parents, expect from her. It really helps build her character as she settles into life at the castle. Having a close bond with my own sister, it was also really nice to read a story where the FMC shares inside jokes and a loving connection with her sister, even though they don’t always see each other often.
Raines connections with the dragons are all amazing🔥, but since Kieren is dealing with family and royal obligations back home, I feel like we haven’t seen much of him in book one. With that said, I’m really excited to see how their relationship continues to grow. I also like that even though the romance leans toward an insta-love/insta-lust connection, they don’t push Raine away just because she hasn’t received the marking lightning yet.
There are also some side characters I’m definitely interested in learning more about, and Leopold the butler is probably one of my favorite people in the story. He’s such a sweet and dedicated character, and I love how Raine and the dragons (Evander, Kieren, and Roark) communicate and interact with him. The ending is definitely a cliffhanger, and I have some theories for what will happen so I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring!
SHADOW OF WINGS is the first book in the Dragon Claimed series. We begin in a world where shifters are known about, and Raine lands the job of a lifetime, curating a private art collection in the Swiss mountains.
Kieren, Roark, and Evander are thunder-mates, which means when they find their mate, they will share. They have been searching, hosting 'candidates' as they try to find their mate. Raine is the last opportunity, as they are tired of it all. They all feel something for her, but is she the one? Not only that, but trouble is brewing between the dragon clans, most especially with their long-term rivals, the Firesteds.
This is fairly fast-paced, with some skips and jumps in the timeline. On the whole, it flows fairly well, but I did get lost a couple of times. While the main male characters are also pretty much defined, there were also a couple of times when I had to go to the beginning of the chapter to make sure I knew who was speaking. Leo is the only one I didn't confuse! I want a Leo of my own!!
I found this to be a lighthearted and fun read. I don't fully understand the role Aisling has to play yet, as I don't feel she added that much to the story, but I'm hopeful it will be clearer as the story progresses. It does end on a huge cliffhanger, though, so consider yourself warned. The ending didn't come as a surprise, but I look forward to the next book to see where it takes me.
If you like dragon shifters and why choose, then I can recommend this one.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Mar 12, 2026
Shadow of Wings by Ellie Pond completely swept me away from the very first chapter. I went into this book expecting a fun paranormal romance, but what I got was an addictive story filled with mystery, tension, and some seriously swoon worthy dragon shifters.
The premise alone is incredible. A dream job cataloging rare art in a Swiss castle quickly turns into something far more magical and dangerous when the heroine discovers her mysterious billionaire bosses are actually dragon shifters from another realm. The moment that secret is revealed the story really takes flight and I could not stop turning the pages.
What I loved most about this book was the chemistry between the main character and the three dragon princes. Each of them has their own personality and presence, and the dynamic between them all keeps the story exciting and emotional. The tension around whether she is truly their fated mate adds another layer of intrigue that kept me hooked the entire time.
Ellie Pond does such a wonderful job building the world and making the castle setting feel rich and alive. The mix of fantasy, romance, and destiny creates a story that feels magical while still being deeply emotional. I found myself completely invested in these characters and their fate.
If you love dragon shifters, reverse harem romance, powerful chemistry, and a story filled with secrets and fate, this book absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next. It was a five star read for me and one I will definitely be recommending to my fellow fantasy romance lovers.
"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Shadow of Wings is a compelling read. The story centres on Raine, who secures what seems like the opportunity of a lifetime curating an art collection in a Swiss castle. However, the position becomes far more intriguing when she discovers that her three charismatic bosses Kieran, Evander, and Roarke, are dragon shifters. In this world, shifters are not hidden, which adds an interesting dynamic to the unfolding relationships. What Raine does not initially realise is that her selection for the job may have little to do with her professional qualifications. The three dragons suspect she could be their fated mate, and as they spend more time together, the tension and emotional chemistry steadily intensify. The story thoughtfully explores themes of destiny, magical bonds, and the uncertainty of whether fate truly guides their connection or if it is simply hopeful imagination. The supporting characters also contribute significantly to the story’s charm. Leo, the castle’s ever mysterious butler, frequently steals the spotlight with his timely appearances and quiet competence. Meanwhile, Raine’s sister, Wren, provides emotional grounding and thoughtful guidance as Raine navigates increasingly complicated circumstances. With its evocative castle setting, three captivating dragon shifters, and the lingering mystery of Raine’s true connection to them, Shadow of Wings delivers an engaging blend of romance, intrigue, and supernatural allure. It leaves you eager to discover how the story and the relationships at its centre will continue to develop. I want the next book ASAP. Must read! 💛
Thank you @elliepondauthor & @happilybookedpr for the ARC.

If you love dragon shifters, why choose romance, and fated mates with a twist, this one is such a fun escape.
The story follows Raine who lands what she thinks is her dream job cataloguing art in a Swiss castle....only to discover her mysterious billionaire bosses are actually dragon princes from another realm. And they didn’t hire her just for her art expertise — they believe she might be their fated mate.
The tension in this story comes from the uncertainty of the bond. The dragons feel the pull toward her, but fate hasn’t given the undeniable sign they’re waiting for, leaving everyone stuck in that deliciously frustrating space between wanting and knowing.
The three MMCs each bring a different dynamic to the relationship, giving the story plenty of banter, protective instincts, and those classic touch her and die moments. The forced proximity in the castle setting also adds to the tension as feelings grow stronger.

Shadow of Wings by Ellie Pond is the first book in a series of dragon shifter romances. Raine, a human woman, is given job (lured?) to a dragon shifter castle in Switzerland after living in a shared 7-person flatshare in New York City (let’s be honest, they probably didn’t have argue to hard - the lure is you can have your own bathroom!) Raine is hired to organize and preserve the art hoarded by three male dragon shifters, but really it’s so they can sniff out if she is their prophesied fated mates. Despite some angst about the bonding ceremony and a few enemy dragons scattered about, they bang it out together. Is this deep? No. But it was exactly what my brain needed after reading a whole bunch of dark stuff.
Raine is a sympathetic protagonist; she is finding her way in the world as someone who never finished her art history degree and is trying to make a clean break from her situationship. The three dragons, Roark, Evander, and Kieren are all big, hot, and possessive if a little interchangeable. There’s a skeptical sister (Wren) and a rival dragon clan (Firested), but generally the danger is pretty low and this book would qualify for me as a cozy romance and, as a definite bonus, the smut was smutting.
Out today 3.13.26!
Overall Rating: 4/5 Spice: 3/5 (Slow burn, but open door RH) Being transported from your 7 person flatshare to a castle with hot dragon shifters: 45,000,000
Thank you to @happilybookedpr and @elliepondauthor for a gifted eARC!
I thought the reason why … well… *spoilers* was because of something else… but ugh…. When do we get book 2???
Anyway…
I first read Ellie Pond’s contemporary why choose series, the Wrecked series, and really enjoyed how suspenseful and fun that was to read! So when I saw she has a romantasy why choose coming, why wouldn’t I sign up to eARC read?
I really enjoyed Shadow of Wings! We get dragon shifters, a portal between our world and theirs, fated mates - but also, oh *spoilers* but there’s something going on with the fates… 👀, a prophesy, warring factions, a locked up princess (not the FMC, but then who?? 🤭 #NoSpoilers), magic, did I mention a prophesy? So much delightful food. Oh! And Monet’s waterlilies! The shifters are dragons so obviously they have a huge hoard in their castle, including an extensive art collection that the FMC is initially hired to curate.
🪷 And just as an aside, the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris is my absolute favourite museum (altho my first ever fav Monet’s waterlilies is the one I saw in Ueno as a child - but the Orangerie is something else). 🪷
🧐 A little scatterbrained this evening, but this really was a fun and exciting read! It’s book 1, and I’m excited to see where this series takes us!! 🥰
Such a fantastic read. Getting the opportunity to curate a massive art collection sounds like the best thing ever. And then to have three outrageously attractive “bosses” on top of that is just the cherry on top. I loved how quickly Raine settled into her role at Cloud Rift after she got there. The fact that Evander, Kieren, and Roark were such a tight knit unit but had such vastly differing personalities was awesome. It was fun seeing the different ways they all interacted with her because I never really knew what to expect. I loved the symmetry with how aligned the males’ thoughts on “no more candidates” were throughout the book. Leopold, the butler, was so great. I loved how he welcomed Raine into the castle so openly. The spicy scenes in this were scorching hot 🥵 but I really loved how attentive the guys were to Raine’s wants and needs and how much they valued her safety. There were a couple of small things with side characters like Raine’s sister, Wren, that have me curious about how they’ll play out in the future but I won’t spoil anything. The ending of this absolutely gutted me but then the very end has me like wait what just happened and I need answers immediately lol. This was a really incredible read and I look forward to book 2!
Shadow of Wings is a captivating start to the Dragon Claimed series, successfully blending a dream-job setup with complex shifter lore. The story follows Raine as she begins curating a private art collection in the Swiss mountains, only to discover her billionaire employers are dragon shifters searching for their fated mate. The chemistry between the leads is the driving force of the novel, and the vivid castle setting adds a rich, atmospheric layer to the brewing conflict between rival clans. The narrative moves at a very brisk pace, which keeps the story engaging despite some occasional jumps in the timeline. While the rapid shifts in perspective between the three dragon princes—Kieren, Roark, and Evander—required close attention to keep straight, the individual personalities eventually shine through. Though some secondary character roles remain a mystery, the incredible premise and intense cliffhanger ending make this a compelling five-star read. It is a fun, high-stakes recommendation for any fantasy romance enthusiast. Content Warning: This title contains adult themes, cliffhangers, and depictions of fantasy romance violence and paranormal conflict.
Are you ready? Raine, is many things she's smart, funny, sassy, stubborn, curious and so not ready for what's waiting for her at the castle she'll be working at for the next six months. Dragons, not one but three and not just dragons but royalty and not just royalty but they are a thunder meaning whoever they mate will be one in the same. Raine doesn't know it yet but she is the current candidate or suspect in the search for the prince's mate. It is Leopold the Prince's Ancestral who has brought Raine to the castle, it is his instincts telling him she is the lightning for their thunder. But the dragon realm is wrestless and talks of war are being whispered in the wind. Will the Prince's thunder finally claim their mate, is Raine really their one true mate. If she isn't will her heart recover. Can they discover who is messing with the portals. Are there rivals the Firested Dragons to blame for all this trouble. As we leave book one on a cliffhanger where will Raine be when we enter book two? So much excitement, action and mystery yet to come. I have voluntarily left this review.

First—thank you @elliepondauthor and @happilybookedpr for letting me be part of the ARC team for Shadow of Wings 🪽
I went in blind and loved this. What starts as a dream job—cataloging rare art in a Swiss castle—quickly turns into something much bigger when Raine discovers her reclusive billionaire bosses are actually dragon shifters… and she might be their fated mate.
Except fate hasn’t fully shown its hand.
Raine was such a standout FMC—smart, observant, and genuinely passionate about art in a way that felt refreshing. She knows more than she lets on, and I loved watching her hold her own.
The three MMCs each bring something different, and their personalities really shine in how they interact with her—and each other. The dynamic felt layered, sometimes chaotic, but always engaging.
And I have to mention Butler Leopold—easily my favorite side character. Protective, sharp, and not afraid to push back when needed.
The tension around the fated mate bond (and the uncertainty of it) added such a fun twist, especially with the forced proximity and “touch her and ☠️” energy woven throughout.

I received an advanced copy of Shadow Of Wings in return for an honest review.
If you love paranormal romance with dragon shifters, fated mates, and a stunning European setting, this one is for you. The story follows Raine, who lands what feels like the job of a lifetime - curating an art collection in a castle in Switzerland! But the job gets even more interesting when she discovers her three very attractive bosses - Kieran, Evander and Roarke - are dragon shifters. In this world, shifters aren’t a secret, which adds a fun twist to the story’s dynamics.
What Raine doesn’t realise is that the reason she was chosen for the position goes far beyond her skills. The three dragons suspect she might be their fated mate, and as they spend more time together the tension, chemistry, and mystery around that possibility slowly builds. Paranormal romance often leans into the idea of destiny and magical bonds, and this story really plays with that slow discovery of whether fate is real or just wishful thinking.
I also loved the supporting characters. Leo, the castle’s “butler,” completely stole scenes for me. He always seemed to appear with exactly what someone needed at just the right moment. And Wren, Raine’s sister, was great too, offering advice and grounding Raine when things started getting complicated.
Between the gorgeous castle setting, three swoony dragon shifters, and the mystery of whether Raine truly belongs with them, Shadow Of Wings is an entertaining paranormal romance with plenty of chemistry and intrigue. I’m definitely curious to see where this story goes next!
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this as I’ve read a lot of books with dragons in. It was a lighthearted, quick and engrossing read (it’s quite long and I read it in 2 days).
Will it be the next fourth wing? No because it’s a why choose, shifter (dragon) romance so if you’re looking for in depth plot, this isn’t that. I will say that this was something different, there is a lovely plot to follow and the characters are brilliant, something that Ellie really excels at in why choose. It’s easy to follow with basically no world building in this book (remains to be seen for the rest of the series).
My final note though is - WHAT THE HELL ELLIE!? The ending was not what I was expecting - you will be left on a cliffhanger. I was seriously pissed I couldn’t dive straight into the next one and see where this goes.
Enjoyable easy read, if you’re looking for something fun, spicy and with dragons!
Another addictive story by Ellie Pond! I was gripped right from the start, and the ride was absolutely worth it. Raine is hired for her dream job of cataloguing art in a Swiss castle, but quickly realises that her three hot bosses are dragon shifters from another realm. She also finds out that she may or may not be their fated mate. The world-building was mostly straightforward, but there were times I would have loved more details and explanations. The hints had me coming up with theories, and the twist at the end all but confirmed them. I loved the chemistry between the FMC and the dragon shifters, who each had their own personality. The waiting game to see whether she really is their fated mate was so intense, and I couldn’t stop reading to find out what happens. I honestly can’t wait for the next one!
This was a book of firsts for me honestly. I didn't realize this one was coming but it appeared in my email nonetheless. I started this one and I couldn't put it down! I had so much reading this one! I've read several books by this author already and I really do love their writing style. It is funny and full of warmth while also maintaining the air that these characters have these awkward moments. This one was much more spicy than previous reads, and I am not mad about it. The spice wasn't a big plot point in this read but it was definitely there as an actual plot driver due to the yearning the nature of the actual dragons nature. Also I am obsessed with the career that was given to the FMC, I dreamed of being a museum curator/art restoration specialist at one point in time (still think about it honestly). But if you love a bunch of billionaire dragons and one awkward mate trying to navigate building a life together then absolutely grab this one!
Thank you to Ellie Pond and Happily Booked PR for my copy of Shadow of Wings to read and review!
This is my very first dragon shifter romance, so I was a bit unsure of what to expect. Based on the synopsis, I figured it would be worth a try, and I don’t regret reading it at all. But I’m not a fan of the excessive growling… lol (but they’re dragons and dragons growl, so I can’t complain)
Initially, I was worried because I couldn’t really get into the story. It was pretty slow paced until about the halfway mark, and then it really picks up. After that point, I found myself turning pages quickly and wanting more of the story to read.
The ending… WOW. Although I anticipated the book ending in the way that it did, I didn’t expect how those events transpired. I cannot wait for the second book to uncover all of the new mysteries.
This book is the first in the dragon claimed series and the diets Ellie Pond book for me. I really liked the concept and synopsis of the story and I mostly liked the execution too. I like Raine as a character, she's smart and passionate and stubborn and funny. But it felt almost like a disconnect with the character and her backstory. She doesn't talk about herself, her friends and family, her past, or her choices at least not out loud and then it's only brief moments. The author drops little snacks of intrigue and then flutters off and it makes building intrigue a little frustrating. I really liked the cliffhanger, interestingly the author drops that Easter egg a couple of times throughout the book that there should be four, and I liked that it wasn't particularly obvious but still made me smile. I liked this book and read it over a day.
If you like dragons and fantasy, read this today. I enjoyed the storyline and each character, and they have unique personalities that work well together. The 6 months passed a little too quickly without more adventures or what they did together, but it makes sense given everything going on in their realm. The stress and pressure Keiran, Evander, Roarke, and Raine were trying to deal with came from an unknown future.
The ending had me stressed out and in tears because they love each other so much, and entitlement is pulling them apart. I need to know what is going to happen. I can’t wait to read the second book to see what happens to the Thunder. They deserve the love and happiness they are so close to having.
The thunder is going to bring a storm that nobody is ready for.
This book captivated me from start to finish with the story, characters and the pacing. I love all the sexy MMCs and how head over heel they are for our FMC.
I definitely did not see that ending coming at all although now I realize there were clues throughout the book but I didn’t connect the dots. I can’t wait for book 2 to see what happens next! Definitely recommend!

Thank you Ellie Pond & Happily Booked PR for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Raine is the perfect MFC in my eyes. She is smart, sassy, curious, and completely unprepared for what awaits her at a castle filled with billionaire dragon shifters, specifically three royal dragons known as a “thunder,” destined to share one mate. What starts as a six-month job quickly turns into something much bigger as Raine becomes a possible match for the prince’s bond.
This was such a fun, fast-paced read. The worldbuilding is refreshing; in this world, shifters are already known, which removes the usual tension and lets the story focus on character dynamics, mystery, and romance. Raine’s passion for art and her strong sense of self made her easy to root for.
The chemistry among Raine, Evander, Kieren, and Roark is addictive, and the group dynamic really works. Add in political tension, whispers of war, and a MAJOR cliffhanger ending...I’m fully locked in for book two.
Thank you for this ARC!✨✨✨ My reviews are always honest 🫶🏻
Soooo much I could say about this one!! First, I think this cured my slump. I’m almost mad at myself for accepting this ARC purely because that means the next book isn’t immediately available for me to read!!
I loved the world building. I loved the characters. I loved the relationships between each and every character, from Mary, to Leo, to Raine! Were there moments that were cheesy? A few times where the foreshadowing felt a little in the nose? Yes. But it was all done in a way that gave this book so much charm and never felt like too much!!
Overall, I loved this book. I know it’s not even published yet, but I’m already counting down the days for book 2 to be published! 🫶🏻✨
A Magical, Fast‑Paced Why‑Choose Fantasy I Couldn’t Put Down
Shadow of Wings pulled me in from the very first chapter. The blend of dragon‑shifter lore, castle intrigue, and why‑choose chemistry made this such a fun, addictive read. Raine’s connection with each of the princes felt natural and full of spark, and the worldbuilding, from the art‑filled Swiss castle to the hints of conflict in the other realm, kept me completely engaged.
I loved the mix of mystery, tension, and found‑family warmth woven through the story, and the side characters (especially Leo) added so much charm. The ending absolutely stunned me, and I’m already excited to see where the series goes next.
I received a free ebook and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is another great book by Ellie. I love how there are loose links to her other dragon series, but these dragons are so unique with different rules and histories. I love how Raine is pulled into this world, especially when she can’t say no as it is her dream job!. She is a fun and sweet character, with a spine of steel. She is more than capable of handling the dragons, even when they made bad decisions. I love how they respect her and try to put her first, even though the protection aspect can be a tad too stifling. Each of the dragons has their own uniqueness that brings something to the story which keeps it fresh and interesting. This is a great start to the series, but honestly I need to read book two, especially after that ending!
*ARC Review* The FMC gave off the most adorable, cozy, slightly chaotic girl-next-door vibes and I was obsessed. I loved how each MMC had their own distinct personality and dynamic with Raine. So different, yet all completely devoted to her in their own way. And the side characters?? I usually just like them, but I loooove Leo 🥹 he is an actual angel and I would protect him at all costs.
I’m giving this four stars because I did find myself a little confused at times with the timeline and certain events. One thing that stuck with me was how long it took for us as readers to learn that the world already knew about dragon shifters. I personally would’ve loved that revealed much earlier. Overall though, this was an enjoyable read for me, and I’m definitely picking up book two!
This fantastic dragon shifter romance ended on such a cliffhanger, and now I'm very grumpy that I'm gonna have to wait to see what happens next!! That twist at the end I definitely did not see coming.
Having someone apply for a job to discover if they might be mate material is definitely an interesting way to check a bond, but I can't help feeling a bit bad for the previous candidates the trio of dragon shifters had hired in the past.
I really want Raine to get her "happily ever after", as she's such a sweetheart and totally deserves it, but I guess I will have to wait until the next book. I very quickly fell in love with her and all three dragon shifters, even if I found their motives a little sus to begin with, they each had their own personalities and quirks.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book!
I received an ARC of this ebook from the author, and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
