Lovely discussion of greatness and how it's not about strength and might or confidence.
Celebrating introversion and quietness and softness.
And nice to see the protagonist NOT on board with killing the bad guy!! Doesn't always happen, so that was great!
But some of the world-building is properly weird, and a bit underworldy and dark. And I did find it hard to follow sometimes as I kept zoning out to the audio. But that could have just been me.

- one of the child characters can sing to people to bring them back from the dead, another can sing people to sleep forever. So she's a child who can go around euthanising and murdering people.

Steeped in Welsh Mythology, Quill and the last generation is one of those middle grade reads that you can comfortably dive in to no matter how old you are. It is beautifully written and immersive and doesn’t shy away from death and loss.
