Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.

Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

This book is just so much fun.

Exquisite Corpses #10 brings the chaos again — brutal kills, relentless action, and that deliciously twisted “killer battle royale” energy that makes this series such a blast. The concept still works: serial killers unleashed while wealthy puppeteers pull the strings behind the scenes. It’s mean, pulpy, and completely committed to the bit.

What really worked for me here is how the field narrows. We’re down to the final four, and you can feel the flips coming. Alliances shifting. Power plays brewing. The tension tightens in a way that feels more focused than some earlier issues — fewer moving pieces, sharper momentum.

It’s violent. It’s cynical. It’s outrageous. And it absolutely leans into the survival-game dread that’s powered this whole run.

This series knows exactly what it is, and it delivers.

Still having a great time with this one. And such a big Rascal Randy fan! He’s my guy! Hope he wins!

The game is fairly off the rails in an incredibly intriguing way. I really don’t know what’s going to happen next, so I guess the Corpse Crew has done a pretty good job of putting this whole thing together! I’m glad we have one civilian now in the mix who seems capable of holding her own.

I could say it every issue, but Jordie Bellaire’s colors absolutely make this book sing. So cool to see her writing a tight, gripping issue and for her colors to make it all work.

Finally, more fox!!! I stand by this being a more brutal adult version of The Hunger Games.

We are really reaching the end of the game now and WOW things are heating up and moving fast. It’s like being in a car barreling down a hill, the breaks are right there but nothing is happening when you slam down on them. Anything can happen and this series is amazing!! We immediately jump into this issue with a report from the groundskeeper to the gamesmaster as the area for the game is closing in on a specific area, and he has already setup snipers to take out anyone left after the game comes to an end…no witnesses after all. The gamemaster is quite happy with how everything has turned out, it just means there is an assurance he doesn’t loose his head. But the groundskeeper has been at this for way longer, and he knows way better that the night is not over yet. South Carolina is in constant contact with her sister, who has slipped in with the locals, the way to play is clear…get Massachusetts weapon, on the hand of a paramedic who couldn’t possibly be much trouble, then finish the game for Massachusetts and she will back her. Simple as that, what’s not so simple is getting out of Recluse’s traps which Audrey is currently stuck in. Recluse is more than happy to play around with her as she is cut along the barbed wire, but even if Audrey didn’t realize it yet…the best possible thing that could of happened for her was the fox mask killer walking up and interrupting them. According to recluse she had been out of the game for 4 years, and we all know the story of her denying South Carolina and her daughter ending up dead because of it. Recluse loves to mock her for this and point out that her current arm injury will make this an even easier fight. While Audrey begs to be let free, recluse and the fox mask killer go at it…and recluse didn’t stand a chance. Sure they are able to get a good hit by using the fox mask killer’s wound to their advantage, but the moment they got Fox mask on the ground…she lunged up like a fox and ripped Recluse’s throat out. Fox mask killer then took her blade and cut Audrey down, telling her to get out of here. Audrey ran for it abs eventually came across the corn maze where she found Craig lying dead. She saw a small hand poking out from under him and immediately assumed it was Jason. She tried to hard to move Craig’s body, but instead fell over from exhaustion as she held the child’s arm in her own. I really hope we get a moment of relief where she realizes Jason is alive.

But remember that paramedic that shouldn’t be an issue…yeah, Laura is a big badass issue and she just climbed the clock tower to put the gun against the groundskeeper’s head! Hell yeah, and for the first time in the entire series the groundskeeper is brought out from the shadows and into the light. He knows exactly who she is because his job is to know everything about this town. He compliments her on being able to surprise even him, but he doesn’t have what she wants…there is no way out as that would be against the rules of the game and his job is to make sure no one leaves…and he is very good at his job. He explains that there are going to be no satisfying answers for Laura as she has no control, she isn’t even a piece on the board as everything around her is bigger than him and way bigger than her. There is nothing to do, everyone will die when there is a winner. He was given two options when the thirteen first hired him, I’m surprised he name dropped them to Laura, to accept his position or his fate. He understood that acceptance was a delay of his fate…suddenly he calls in that he is compromised and orders his own execution as a sniper takes him out. He could have easily ordered for Laura to be taken out instead, but it’s as if he wanted a way out and wanted to give her a slight chance to keep going. Laura actually hears over the radio as the call in to ask for permission to kill her, giving her a chance to drop to the ground as the bullets fly over her, and giving her a chance to slip back down the ladder and get out of here to find some other way out.

Unfortunately Jason has not eaten all day, so Xavi gets Mike to pull the bus over for a quick pit stop at the general store for some food and water. Xavi does such a good job at lightning the mood for Jason and making him laugh a bit, but unfortunately they mood is killed faster than gamer kid was as Mike is the first to notice Rascal Randy in there with them! Mike rushes in with the best war cry I’ve ever heard: “fuck you, silly rabbit,” to try and tackle Randy, giving Xavi and Jason a chance to run away…but also solidifying his own death. RIP Mike, you died a hero and Jason and Xavi made a run for the haunted house Xavi works at so he can hide Jason.

As the issue comes to an end we check back in on the 13 and the gamemaster who suddenly finds himself out of his depth as he now has to act as the groundskeeper as well. Pennsylvania makes sure he is aware that there is work still left to do as the game isn’t over and the groundskeeper died knowing his duty. He oversaw the last 6 games, so the gamemaster better make sure it doesn’t all fall apart. South Carolina calls back her sister with the location of the paramedic…but lady Carolina has a new plan, she has spent some time killing and blowing off steam and thinking about having Massachusetts rule over them. She also thought about how boring it would be to shoot the fox mask killer…no, she would rather use a knife. And it just so happens that the congregation, New Hampshire’s killer, never got his cache. So she wants the information of that cache location and she wants her sister to make sure that New Hampshire knows who is really running things once she guts the fox and wins this game. WOW, the complicated way these characters are connected and the ultimate endgame for this game is all coming together beautifully!

Another great issue.

This issue is a slower go at it by showing who is left on the table and who's not.Issue #10 sets up the next two final issues with some gore and suspense but leaving a few characters alive for us to root for.Looking forward to the conclusion of Exquisite Corpses.

The badass comic series continues its trajectory toward the ultimate winner of the high stakes fight to the death game heaped on a poor little unsuspecting town where alliances shift and change with money, death, and bending rules.

The march toward the end feels both close and far away at the same time. Don't want the terror to end.

I feel like theirs a noticeable decline in the art in these later issues and the pacing also has been a little erratic. Hope the last two issues change that

A logical next issue with people closing in and the game changing, but not fast enough. Unless they stop killing all the good characters there will be no one left to root for…
