Let the MILLION-COPY BESTSELLING author Jo Bartlett sweep you away with her BRAND NEW heartwarming and absorbing read 🥰💛Thirteen years ago, Iris’s life was shattered when her father’s sudden death revealed a devastating secret, making her doubt everything she believed to be true.
Now working as a researcher, Iris relies on solid facts. She’s built a wall round her emotions, unable to trust herself when it comes to love, or letting people in. But then she returns to her Cornish hometown to consult on a TV series for scriptwriter Declan Fitzgerald.
Single father Declan is charming, clever and devoted to his eight-year-old daughter, Mabel. Iris is undeniably drawn to him, and forms an instant friendship with the little girl. But her deep-seated trust issues, combined with local gossip claiming that Declan was involved in his wife’s disappearance, push Iris to dig deep into his past and the unsolved case.
The tangle of secrets she uncovers – and Declan’s reaction – threatens to destroy the fragile bond building between them.
Can Iris finally let go of the betrayal that defined her past and trust her gut, or will she lose the love – and family – she has always longed for?
An emotional and uplifting story of love, secrets and found family — perfect for fans of Veronica Henry, Sarah Morgan and Cathy Bramley.

First, I am glad this one works a standalone even with being part of a series because I am not sure currently if I have read other Jo Bartlett books before.
Secondly.... it was a lovely, emotional story with also some mystery woven inbetween. If you are looking for a light, romantic comedy, you are at the wrong place here. I was myself a little torn how to rate it, in all honesty, because while I loved all the characters, some of the topics the story did visit felt a little heavy to me. Overall, I do settle for 4 stars. It was really good, and a book that will stay with you. Surely a nice pick for a rainy day to read while having a cup of hot chocolate. Can recommend!
I received a free copy of, From This Moment On, by Jo Bartlett, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book three in the Cornish Bay series. Iris is back home in Cornwall, for a job. Iris has been hurt before, and is not looking for love at all. This was such a good read, I enjoyed all the characters.
From This Moment On is the third (#3) book in THE CORNISH BAY COLLECTION.
When her father died revealing a secret that totally upended her life, researcher Iris’s trust and faith was shattered. Thirteen years later the echo of that betrayal still affects Iris, leaving her unable to trust enough to form a meaningful relationship.
When she’s offered the chance to return to her Cornish hometown to consult with scriptwriter Declan Fitzgerald on his new project, Iris jumps at the chance to spend time with her mother.
Iris is instantly drawn to single dad Declan and his gorgeous little girl Mabel, but there are rumours about Declan’s wife’s disappearance. When Iris’s inherent suspicious nature and trust issues lead her to dig into Declan’s past, the secrets she discovers could threaten their growing relationship…
——————————
From This Moment On is a gentle, sweet contemporary story.
Both MCs struggle with relationship issues although they are both very different. Iris struggles with commitment and trust after her fathers betrayal and it has stopped her from forming any romantic relationships. Declan’s (ex- ish) wife has disappeared and he is dealing with the fallout from that whilst raising his beautiful daughter (who happens to have mosaic Down syndrome).
Both characters are written sympathetically and the pacing of their growing relationship is perfect.
There are no open door scenes and the one intimate event between them is only referred to slightly and occurs off page.
I really liked Mabel’s character and she certainly lifted the mood at difficult periods. I did find that the amount of times Iris’s ‘daddy issues’ were mentioned a bit frustrating, by the 30% mark I think we got it!
I read an ebook copy of this book, with around 260 pages (print copy), an illustrated cover and great editing. This book releases on November 2nd 2026.
With thanks to Jo Bartlett and NetGalley for an early read of this book. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.
🧙🏻♀️ Found Family 🧙🏻♀️ Second Chance 🧙🏻♀️ Contemporary Romance
Jo Bartlett has done it again! From This Moment On is the beautiful, emotionally resonant third installment in the Cornish Bay Collection, and it completely sweeps you away to the coast of Cornwall. If you love stories about second chances, small-town dynamics, and overcoming deeply ingrained trust issues, this book is an absolute must read!!! The story follows Iris, a researcher who relies purely on cold, hard facts to navigate life. Thirteen years ago, her father’s sudden passing exposed a devastating family secret that shattered her ability to trust others or open her heart to love. When she returns to her Cornish hometown to consult on a television script, she meets Declan Fitzgerald, a charming scriptwriter and a devoted single father to his wonderful eight year old daughter, Mabel. The chemistry and bond between Iris, Declan, and little Mabel build so naturally, but Iris’s protective walls are tested when local town gossip surfaces. Rumor has it that Declan may have been involved in his wife's mysterious disappearance years ago. As a researcher driven by the need for truth, Iris begins to dig into the unsolved case, uncovering a tangle of secrets that threatens to shatter the fragile connection she has built with Declan. What makes this book shine is Bartlett's trademark warmth and her exquisite character development. Iris is a deeply relatable heroine; her flaws and emotional vulnerabilities feel completely authentic. Declan is a fantastic romantic lead supportive, patient, and a truly wonderful father. The atmospheric descriptions of the Cornish coast add the perfect backdrop of cozy escapism, balanced beautifully by the light mystery elements surrounding the town's gossip. From This Moment On is a poignant, uplifting story about letting go of past betrayals and learning to trust your gut.
While it works beautifully as part of the series, it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone romance.
From This Moment On by Jo Bartlett was a lovely, heartwarming read that I really enjoyed. Jo has a wonderful way of creating characters you want to get to know, and this story combines romance, family secrets and a little mystery to keep you turning the pages.
The story follows Iris and Declan, two people who have their own reasons for being cautious when it comes to love. I really enjoyed learning about their backstories and seeing how their past experiences shaped their views on relationships and trust. Declan’s relationship with his daughter, Mabel, was a particular highlight for me. She brings so much warmth to the story, and I loved seeing their family dynamic develop as Iris becomes part of their lives.
There is a definite will they, won’t they? feeling between Iris and Declan, and I found myself hoping they would overcome their reservations and find happiness together. The mystery surrounding Declan’s past adds another layer to the story, creating some uncertainty and keeping things interesting along the way.
I also enjoyed the emotional depth of the book. It explores how past hurt can affect the way we trust others, and how difficult it can be to open your heart again. Alongside the romance, there are some lovely moments about family, healing and second chances.
Although this is part of the Cornish Bay series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone, and the beautiful Cornish setting adds to the charm.
Overall, this was an engaging and emotional romance with lovely characters, family secrets and a relationship I was rooting for. If you enjoy stories about second chances, overcoming the past and discovering love when you least expect it, I would definitely recommend giving this one a read.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Jo Bartlett for the opportunity to read this advance copy. All opinions are my own.
This was such an engaging read! The mystery surrounding Sarah-Jane had me hooked because I genuinely needed to know what happened to her and what Declan was hiding. I also absolutely love reading romances between mature characters, so that was a huge plus for me.
Iris and Declan had a sweet relationship, and I really enjoyed watching them slowly let each other in. I also loved the family dynamics and seeing Iris find her place within Declan's life.
There were a couple things that kept this from being a 4-star read for me, though. I completely understand how deeply her father's betrayal affected Iris and why it caused her to have trust issues, but at times it felt like she had centered almost her entire life around what he had done. So many of her decisions and thoughts came back to her dad's betrayal, and after a while I found that a little frustrating.
I also liked Mabel as a character, but the constant praise of her was a little overkill for me. It felt like at every opportunity the story had to remind us just how wonderful, adorable, funny, clever, and special she was. I didn't have an issue with Iris becoming attached to her, I actually thought their relationship was really sweet. I just didn't need Mabel to be waxed poetic about quite so often.
Overall, though, this was a really entertaining read. The mystery kept me turning the pages, I loved getting a romance between mature characters, and I definitely needed to find out the truth about Sarah-Jane.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this early and share my honest review!
This is the third book in this series but can be read as a standalone. I feel this book was better than the second book, and the characters were much easier to like. I have read a few Jo Bartlett books and she always takes you on a journey with her characters.
Iris is a researcher who lives in London. She is employed by Declan to help research the history of witches in Cornwall for his latest TV show. So she goes to stay with her mother in her hometown, which is difficult for her with the memories of her father's betrayal.
Whilst Iris is dealing with her demons, Declan has a few of his own. He is keeping a huge secret about his missing wife. His secret can affect his daughter Mable, his mother in law Brenda, and any future relationships.
The book explores the principles of trusting your gut, letting go of past trauma and learning to live again. It shows how broken trust and secrets can affect your life, years after the fact.
There are so many characters to love in this book, especially Mable, who has down syndrome. She is adorable. There is also past characters from other books popping in for a visit.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to lovers of this genre.
I had mixed feelings about From This Moment On. I appreciate books that aren’t afraid to tackle heavy topics, but I didn’t always feel that some of the subjects were handled as well as they could have been.
One thing that stood out to me was the dialogue. Some conversations didn’t feel very natural and sometimes seemed more like a way for the characters to explain their entire backstory at once. It made certain moments feel a little forced for me.
That being said, there were definitely things I enjoyed! Mabel was absolutely adorable, and I loved her positive attitude. I really wish there were more people in the world like her. I also thought Iris and Declan had a very sweet relationship.
I’m glad to see Linda finding a way to move forward, and I was happy that Brenda is finally starting to get the closure she deserves.
Overall, I did enjoy the book despite some of my issues with it, and I would recommend it to others who enjoy emotional stories that deal with difficult topics and relationships.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Jo Bartlett for the chance to read and review this book.
Jo Bartlett has done it again! As always, she certainly doesn’t disappoint, and From This Moment On was another wonderful read.
I always look forward to reading Jo’s books, and this one was no exception. There were so many twists and turns along the way, and just when I thought I knew how things were going to work out, the story would take another unexpected turn!
I found myself getting completely caught up in the story, hoping that everything would work out for the best. There were certainly moments when I wasn’t sure how it would all end, but without giving away any spoilers, I’m so glad things turned out the way they did.
Jo has such a lovely way of drawing you into her stories and making you care about the characters. This was another heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable read that kept me turning the pages.
If you enjoy a good story with plenty of emotion, unexpected twists and a satisfying ending, I would definitely recommend this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book ahead of publication.
What a fantastic read! I absolutely loved this book and found myself completely invested in the characters and their stories. It had everything I enjoy in a good romance—love, family drama, emotional moments, and characters you can’t help but root for!
The only reason I’m giving this one four stars instead of five is because of the ending. I felt like there was still so much more I wanted to know! I was really hoping to see Mabel’s reaction to everything that unfolded, and I desperately wanted more of Mabel and Declan’s story, along with a little more of Iris’s happily ever after. After becoming so invested in these characters, I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye! The ending felt a little too rushed for me, and I would have loved a few more chapters to wrap everything up.
That being said, I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! Jo Bartlett did a wonderful job creating a story that kept me turning the pages. Despite wishing for a little more closure, this was such an enjoyable and heartfelt read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
It was not until Iris' father died, thirteen years ago, that she find out he had a second family. Ever since she has felt the need to research everything to the ultimate level to ensure that she is never caught out like that again. Until she starts working for Declan, and falls for him and his beautiful daughter, Mabel, who has Down's syndrome. However, there is a mystery regarding the disappearance of Declan's wife when Mable was small. Can she trust him without knowing exactly what happened...
Jo Bartlett is the mistress of warm, engaging, intriguing novels, set in the beautiful surroundings of coastal Cornwall. I defy anyone to read one of her novels without falling under her spell. And the Cornish tourist board should use her novels in their marketing! Another triumph from Jo - and I want to go and meet the marvellous Mabel right now!
When I see Jo Bartlett’s name on a book cover, I know I’m going to get a lovely story filled with incredible emotional depth. I also know there will be twists and turns that I never see coming, and this book is no exception.
Although this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. At its heart, this is a story about trust. Broken trust, a lack of trust, the struggle to trust again, and even that rare instant connection where trust comes naturally, as Iris experiences with her brother.
Jo Bartlett has a wonderful way of taking what seems like a simple, heartwarming story and weaving in deeper emotions and complicated relationships that give the story so much more meaning.
Another brilliant read from one of my favourite authors. Researcher Iris’s life imploded when the sudden death of her father led to a devastating secret being revealed. Thirteen years on she returns to her Cornish hometown to start working for TV scriptwriter Declan Fitzgerald. It soon becomes clear that there is some chemistry between the two of them and Iris soon finds herself forming a friendship with not only Declan but also his eight year old daughter Mabel. However there are rumours about him and with her trust issues will the friendship be able to develop into something more…… Family dynamics, community, friendships and so much more make this a great read. Fabulous characters that are written so individually and Mabel was a particular favourite of mine in this. I love Jo’s style of writing, how she weaves different aspects of the story into her books and incorporates characters from previous books. She tackles various issues so sensitively and it’s quite obvious that she has done her research on the topics she covers.
Second chance love story. Iris has trust issues since finding out about her father's second family the day he died. One thing she doesn't regret is the brother she gained. When Iris is hired to do research for writer Declan, she is captivated by his young daughter Mabel. As their relationship changes. Iris begins to wonder what really happened to Declan's wife - missing or dead? Reasons for actions taken are explained as each person affected by the truth come to terms with reality. Love Mabel - a child with Down Syndrome who is very sure of herself and is a bright light for many for the joy she brings to their lives. #FromThisMomentOn #BoldwoodBooks #NetGalley
Read ahead of the release day, my best friend has recommends these books for ages. She was not wrong at all Jo’s style of writing had me and my head lost in the book for start to finished ( only took me a little long as I was on a city break)
Storyline had me hooked wishing the best outcome for Iris and her mum would turn for the better after finding out about a horrible double life, also had a close friend go through this a few years ago. Good luck on release date I am so going to read more of your books Jo xxx
Jo Bartlett is one of those authors that just really gives you that gig warm hug when you need it. Declan and Iris where drawn to each other immediately, but both have relationship and trust issues. Iris'father passed away which reveals a huge secret she would've never guessed and Declan is a single father trying to do right by sweet Mabel. Their story is just so heartwarming and felt so real, it was impossible not to connect with these characters immediately. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for my digital ARC!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books Ltd for this advanced reader copy. The opinions expressed are mine alone.
“From This Moment On” is a fantastic addition to Jo Bartlett’s Cornish Bay series. I love how her stories are all interconnected but also can stand on their own. I felt like this one was darker than the other novels she has written. It was much more mysterious; I kept going back and forth about the trustworthiness of the male main character. I’m intrigued to see if BartlettMs future novels will be as mysterious as this one. In a way, I hope so!
A beautiful story about second chances and love in every form imaginable. I fell head over heels for little Mabel she is a child with a big personality and the kindest heart. I think every time her name is mentioned in the book I had a big cheeky grin. The plot is character driven and a interlinking series but it could easily be read as a standalone. I say it a lot but this is right up there with my favourite reads by Jo.
With relatable characters, realistic stakes, and a subtle mystery woven throughout, this book holds your attention from the very first page. Jo Bartlett’s smooth, elegant prose and trademark optimism shine through every chapter. Heartwarming and utterly uplifting, it’s easily my favourite instalment in the series so far. With many thanks to Boldwood Books, NetGalley and the author for an early copy.
Cornish bay series book three. Iris Champion after her fathers death her and her mum Linda find he has been living two lives and she has a brother. As the years go by they remain as a close family, but both ladies find they can't trust having relationships, thats until Declan Fitzgerald and his daughter Mabel get to know Iris and they become close. This book is both delightful and pulls at your heartstrings, I loved the story with a happy ever after feeling. So lovely and touching.
I did enjoy this book by Jo Bartlett but just not as much as the previous one that I read. I liked the characters and the air of mystery that surrounded Declan’s past but some parts of it just felt a bit stilted. It is an easy book to read due to the writing style but there are some very heavy themes that could make it difficult for some people to read. I thought that some of the responses to the difficulties were over simplified but it wasn’t trying to be a hard hitting book. A decent read.
*From This Moment On* by Jo Bartlett is a cosy romance about two people who don't quite realise that what they've been missing is love. I absolutely loved this one! There's something so lovely about watching two people discover that they might just be exactly what the other needs. A heartwarming read for anyone who loves cosy romance, and I'm already looking forward to reading more from Jo Bartlett. Definitely an author I'll be keeping an eye on!
This is a good beginning again romance with a touch of mystery. I always enjoy the characters created by Jo Bartlett and enjoy getting to know them. Although this book is a part of a series, it can be enjoyed as a stand alone as there really isn't much connection to the previous books. Thanks #BoldwoodBooks #NetGalley
Lovey to see the inhabitants of at pirate and catch up With the lovely people living there. Great to have a quick catch up with Gwen. I’m loved Declan and he a daughter and the perpetual fizziness of happiness she has. I liked iris and her family and how they overcome a sad time with the help o f friends and family. Great series. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very good book. There is a little mystery surrounding where Declan’s missing wife. There are some history lessons in the book from research Iris has been doing. The characters all have depth to them.
