(Vocal Score). Ross & Adler's 1955 Broadway production which won a Tony Award for Best Musical featured Gwen Verdon. Our vocal score includes 12 The Game * Goodbye, Old Girl * Heart * A Little Brains, a Little Talent * A Man Doesn't Know * Near to You * Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo. * Six Months Out of the Year * Those Were the Good Old Days! * Two Lost Souls * Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets) * Who's Got the Pain?
Basic Plot: The New York Yankees are winning everything because it's the late 1950's and that's what they did back then. The Washington Senators are a down-on-their-luck underdog team with a fan who's willing to make a deal with the devil to get his team to win.
Sounds like a cool premise, doesn't it? DOESN'T IT??? *THBPFFFFT*
Of all the lame shows, with lame characters, and WTF IS THE POINT OF THIS SONG???? moments, my director chooses to do this one. The characters are lame (and sexist), the songs are meh-to-WTF???, and the plot jumps around too much to make the series of events really make sense.
I don't like the script. Maybe when I see it performed it'll be different, but for the moment I hate it.
Fifth year at UMD - I played Lola. I loved performing "Whatever Lola Wants" and "A Little Brains, A Little Talent". Oh, and the Vegas style dance with my buddy Brad Bone was a riot, too!
