A New Adult Comedy

When Sydney Porter transfers to Northern University, she’s ready to put her past behind her. Landing a job on campus as an irreverent radio personality, she uses the anonymity to air all the campus dirty laundry—earning the infamous Sunday Lane more than a few enemies. His presence threatens to destroy everything she has going, as well as resurrecting a night Sydney never wants to remember or repeat. She’d run away like a coward, but this time she's determined to stay and fight.

A twisted battle of wit and trickery ensues, with one common goal—vengeance. Sydney and Gray set out to make each other miserable. But misery loves company, and soon, walls are destroyed and truths are revealed that could change their future forever.

This is one of those books that made me laugh out loud. Like, I was in bed reading and had to move to the couch so I wouldn’t wake my husband up with my laughs. It was that funny. If you like books with a lot of humor, college romances and enemies/lovers story lines, this is the perfect book to pick up!

Sydney Porter is a college junior and music is her life. She is ‘DJ Sinister’ when she does her gigs, and she also has a secret identity on the radio station. Her college life's going fine. Her little brother Jack is a freshman on the football team. #24, Gray Peters is the guy who’s supposed to be looking out for him. This guy also happens to be Sydney’s nemesis, for reasons you’ll find out later ;) Once these two start to go at it with their pranks, snark, and back and forth… All I can say is let the games begin!
“This is how we play, Sydney. It’s Porter and Peters at one another’s throats.”

 photo 00E37606-DA58-4CC8-BD92-18A9B2A827E5_zpsfihbbqr8.jpg

As funny as Sydney and Gray and their antics were, there were several side characters that made me laugh just as much if not more than them! Fernando was one, and Sydney’s little brother Jack was another. Let me tell you, JACK PORTER STOLE THE SHOW. I loved that side character so much! He was so awkward in the best way possible.
“People used to throw balls at my head in school. Balls were always flying at my face, hitting my mouth. Once I got a ball in the eye. So one day, I just had enough of balls in my face. So instead of letting them hit me, I started grabbing them. I was so good at grabbing balls it became second nature. I could smell balls before they came at me.”

Sydney was such a mama bear to him and he was so unintentionally hilarious! I loved their sibling relationship.

And of course this book is not all laughs, there is some romance and sexy times. Gray and Sydney’s chemistry is explosive. Maybe it’s all that tension and hate between them, but when they’re together it’s off the charts hot. This is one of the few books I have read that will immediately come to mind when someone asks me for a rec of a funny book. I have a small list of books that are truly LOL funny and this will definitely take a place on that list.

If you’re looking for a fun, sexy, sweet (at times) and hilarious NA book, put this one on the top of your list!

This college story is about the hot football quarterback, Gray Peters and the feisty spitfire, DJ, Sydney Porter’s transformation from enemies to lovers. And my friends, it is laugh out loud nonstop hilarity!

”People used to throw balls at my head in school. Balls were always flying at my face, hitting my mouth. Once I got a ball in the eye. So one day, I just had enough of balls in my face. So instead of letting them hit me, I started grabbing them. I was so good at grabbing balls it became second nature. I could smell balls before they came at me."

Sydney Porter takes her big sister role VERY seriously! Her brother, Jack (hilarious as well) is new on the football team and he has been paired with Gray Peters. It seems that Gray and Sydney hooked up two years ago and the details and events that took place slowly are revealed. From the moment they meet up again, its game on. In true arch nemeses form there's plotting and pranking all the while their chemistry just keeps escalating.

”I couldn’t help but admire her creative, if depraved mind.”

Sydney is known as DJ Sinister and secretly the evil radio personality, Sunday Lane. Her fall for Gray and vice versa was pretty special.

description

One of my favorite scenes along Gray and Sydney’s fall from enemies to lovers was this one...

”Pressing my palms down against her ears, I closed my eyes. Because if DJ couldn’t hear and QB couldn’t see, the next words out of my mouth wouldn’t be real. “I love you, Sydney Porter.” When I opened them, she gave me another thumbs-up. Then she said, “I loathe you too Gray Peters.”

description

Gray’s teammates and well the whole damn cast of characters presented in this story have me super excited to see what the author does next with this I hope series (this is a standalone). Overall, totally worth the read for fans of college reads with a kick ass heroine and a hot as hell quarterback!

“Devious Minds” was such a fantastic read! This one was definitely one of the best college romance novel I have ever read. It was entertaining from start to finish and I couldn’t put it down. I devoured it! I never wanted to finish. Many would say this is your typical college romance/drama, but I have to disagree. Yes, of course some ‘elements’ are the same, but what was different, at least for me…was the flow of the story. It was simply fantastic! Needless to say, I more than enjoyed this story…I f@cking loved it!

Meet Sydney Porter, our heroine who recently transferred to Northern University. A few things you have to know about Sydney:

* she’s a mama bear when it comes to her little brother, Jack
* sometimes she becomes Sinister. ( and before you ask, no…she doesn’t have a multiple personality; she works as a DJ in a club – DJ Sinister)
* she’s a radio personality/partial celebrity at Northern when she becomes Sunday Lane – a cheeky, no-filters personality who picks apart university flaws and campus morons. No one knows who is Sunday Lane, so Sydney can insult everyone without receiving death threats. (She's a Lucky b#tch!)

description

description

Meet our male main character, Grey Peters. Grey is the football quarterback and Jack’s (Sydney’s little brother) new ‘friend’ since he was paired with him by their coach.

As the story progresses we find out that Sydney and Grey hooked up two years ago when Sydney came to visit Northern. How they met and what happened after the ‘big night’ when Sydney lost her virginity with the good looking QB are also revealed as the story unfolds. Neither of them forgot about the other, but this doesn’t mean they share hugs and kisses. Ohhh…no!! Sydney is bitter, she wants revenge so it’s game on...and the war begins.

This book was simply hilarious! It was funny, it was sexy. Half of the time I LMAO and the other half I had a smile or a grin on my face. I loved every aspect of this story. The pace of the story was perfect and the writing so damn entertaining. The pranks between these two were smart, witty and maybe just a little harsh. Well, I’m glad they didn’t go too far.

Both Sydney and Grey were such endearing characters. Their character development was remarkably done and I had so much fun being in their heads (the story is told in dual POV, which I loved it). Sydney is my new idol! I’m not kidding you. This girl was the sh#t. She was such a feisty spitfire. She’s smart, sometimes crazy, a little weirdo at times, but I loved the hell out of her. You will certainly love her ingenious retaliation.

description

She is sweet and caring with her brother and later also with Grey. Overall she was a fantastic heroine.

Grey was likeable and yummy (even when he was an a$$) and fun and the perfect match for Sydney. He never was portrayed as your usual jock, he’s actually a smart guy having as his major Art History. I loved these characters individually and I loved them together as a couple.

“The elevator filled with the sound of glorious wet slaps of skin against skin. We were animals. Tearing one another apart. Groaning and grunting into one another’s mouths, only to pull away to mutter out a fuck or a yes every few seconds.
It was rough. It was primal. It was incredible.“

description

They were sweet, sexy, they were fun. Their interactions between them were great and I loved the witty dialogue that held my attention until the end and made me laugh my a$$ off. The supportive characters were entertaining as well and I wouldn’t mind this book to be the first in a series. I also have to mention Jack, Sydney’s brother who cracked me up every time he opened his adorable mouth.

Overall, this was a fabulous enemies to lovers story, so if you want something funny, with great characters and entertaining dialogue try this one and you won’t regret it!

This enemies turned lovers romance was deliciously addictive, I loved every page. While the premise may not be the most unique, Devious Minds felt fresh and new, honestly it was exactly the type of read I needed. Hilarious and sexy, the battle between Porter and Peters is one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Lovers. Enemies. Lovers… and all the wonderfully entertaining games they play in between.

description

Transferring to Northern University during her junior year, Sydney Porter's year seems to be going great. Using her anonymous radio personality Sunday Lane, she exposes dirty laundry on the airwaves, and takes a few stabs at those she deems idiotic. Including #24, QB Gray Peters.

"But September is Safe Sex Month... Please wrap it up. And, number twenty-four, a ziploc bag and rubber band won't suffice. Please stop by Professor Grange's office. Second drawer down, you'll find condoms for elves. Should fit perfectly."

Then one night while Sydney is embracing her true passion, spinning records as DJ Sinister, the past comes knocking. When none other than Gray Peters walks up to her table, reminding her of the one night she has tried desperately to forget. What a reunion.

description

During a campus visit, Sydney and Gray spent the night together. The events of that night are slowly revealed throughout the story. What is clear is that 2 years later, Sydney is bitter and resentful, and Gray is just confused. But when Sydney steals his car, any good feelings he had are replaced. Let the games begin.

Vengeance. Plotting. Pranks.

While these two go on the offensive, their chemistry continues to build. And these two together are explosive.

description

"Peters liked fucking with me, but I liked it more.

I loved this story. Every bit of it. It was witty and fun, sweet and sexy, seriously, it was perfect.

So refreshing

I can’t emphasize enough just how much fun I had while following the antics of our protagonists, Sydney (aka Sinister), and Gray. I literally held my stomach and laughed maniacally, so much so my kids gave me a wide berth.

Highly recommend!

I couldn't change our past, but
I could sure as hell change our future.

All right, all right, all right. For starters shoutout to K.F. Germaine for referencing my favourite Southerner. "Can I help you?" "Yes sugar," Suddenly I had a southern accent. I can honestly say when I came across this passage .. I couldn't help but burst out laughing as well as have the cheesiest grin. With that being said, I had an infectious smile through out this novel and could NOT stop laughing! This was my first read by K.F. Germaine and WILL NOT be my last .. let's just put it this way; this book was shelved as "ALL STAR" material. Another part that I broke into a fit of laughter was .. This DJ sucks cock, rang out through the speakers. The whole crowd looked at Fernando, who know had his eyes closed as he continued to nod his head. Chance spit his beer in one glorious spray all over the table. Jack's face was completely colorless. If I was there I'm pretty sure I would have legitimately peed myself from laughing SO HARD! Sinister .. oh Sinister .. she truly is f*cking hilarious. Even Gray was scared of her creativity at points and I quote: What I once took as creative was now evidence of certifiable insanity. Gray's commentary wasn't the only one who made me laugh .. I swear the sh*t that comes out Sydney's mouth is G-E-N-I-U-S. Exhibit A: "She really loves sherbet, so I was going to take her to Ben and Jerry's. Todd from our team has one of those vans you can sleep in, you know, with the black bubble window. It was going to be romantic.." "It sounds like your're trying to abduct a child, Jack. Jesus, the zoo, ice cream, a creepy van." HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH .. I could not agree more!

I didn't spend the last six weeks trying to make her
life a living hell just to watch her walk away.

description

And she'll always get the best of me, the worst is yet to come
All the misery was necessary when we're deep in love .. ►♫

So as for how the story goes .. it's set in college. Gray and Sydney have crossed paths before and it quite the evening. Years later .. they meet again! It went straight to h*ll from there. They are out to get each other and will not stop at anything from destroying one another .. including the not so innocent by standers who come in their path .. TO DESTRUCTION. While reading I was thinking holy sh*t .. I never want to get on their bad side. Then as I continued I was thinking WOW-IE K.F. Germaine has quite the imagination (REALLY don't want to get on HER bad side). The plot was purely brilliant and went at the utmost perfect speed. As for the characters .. Sydney was f*cking AWESOME .. I ALMOST loved her more than Gray .. ALMOST! Honestly even while writing this review I just want to stop and do a re-read because it was quite the EPIC novel .. this is what I call a #GameChanger. Don't be like me .. I was recommended this book and took forever to get around to it .. Don't DO IT .. trust ME .. you'll regret it .. SO READ IT NOW!

Don't ruin this...
Don't ruin us before we even get started,
because it could be the best thing that's
ever happened to me... to us.

4.5 stars!!!

“I couldn't change our past, but I could sure as hell change our future.”

Devious Minds is a book that held no cover appeal to me, but when a trusted book friend recommended it, I decided to give it a chance. This is the story of Sydney and Gray. Sydney leaves community college and joins a four year university with her younger brother. She's a tough chick, she's a DJ with tattoos and most people are honestly afraid of her. Gray is a football player and in charge of looking out for Sydney's younger brother on the football team.

Past tensions between Sydney and Gray are brought to the present and the two spark a series of pranks on each other that make the tension rise between the two of them. But as the two of them go on, one of them realizes their true feelings and one also goes too far with the pranks. One of them wants to turn their love/hate relationship into one only including love. But have the pranks gone too far?

 photo page break 2.png

Having never read this author before, I was impressed that from page one she sucked me in and grabbed my attention as a reader. This book had an excellent mix of angst and humor, both characters also having more to them than how they appeared to others. I also loved that Sydney was a bit of a "bad girl" and not just some innocent college girl who falls for the guy right away. She stood her own and it took more than a hot look for her to be swept away.

Gray made some mistakes along the way, but ultimately he had the best intentions near the middle to end of the book. I love stories where the guy chases the girl, where the guy recognizes the connection before the girl, so Gray was a great hero for my tastes.

There are so many great things about this book, so I recommend you give it a chance like I did and read it for yourself! I highly recommend for my fellow romance readers.

**Massive thank you to Jen Kyle for the rec on this book, it was the ONLY thing that really broke me out of my reading slump. Muah!**

NA college at its best. Very well done hate to love trope. I adored this book. It was hilarious and sweet. Sydney was sassy, full of life and unpredictable. Gray didn't stay far behind, he was her perfect match, not afraid to keep up with Sydney when it came to revenge ideas. And the title is spot on because both their minds were crazy devious. I'm still laughing when thinking about the gold glitter and taxi ride.

I will be looking forward to more from this author for sure (very curious who the next book will be about).

Anyway, if you like college romance books and if you like to laugh a lot while reading, this book is for you.

***4,5 - 5 hillarious "micro-dick" stars from me***

That book was the definition of hatred and war...
Or not???

Sydney Porter or DJ Sinister or Sunday Lane was an amazing character with many layers...

She was a crazy bitch with no filter in her big mouth, extremely weird behavior and vengeancefull ways!!!
She was an outcast... a person that born fear to others...
She was sassy and surprisingly wonderfull!!!

Oh, yeah, as you hear it!!!

And what can i say about Gray Peters???
He is the gorgeous quarterback that everybody loves in the campus...

The golden boy who can have anything that he desires...
He is like a semi-god around there!!!

How those two are connected??? Hmmm.... Long story!!!
It begun before two years...
Sydney was visiting campus when she met the hottie QB...
They had a wonderfull night together but when the morning came, everything went south!!!
You see Sydney heard Gray saying some awful things about her so she bailed off and from that moment she bound to hate him and his micro-dick (Yeah, that is the nickname that she gave him!!! LOL) for a lifetime!!!

Now, two years later...
Sydney has tranferred in the same college, she is working to the campus radio station by the name Sunday Lane, a personality that gossiping everyone around on campus, especially Micro-dick and she is working to a small club as a DJ...

As you all can understand, her biggest love is music!!!

One night, fate reconnects her with Gray, the hatred is rising and she is starting a war...
A war that forces Gray to take gladly the position of the enemy!!!
And for that moment begun a mean, funny war with ugly and unpredictable battles...

Attacks, manipulations, blackmailing and many more things are on their agenda...
They don't have boundaries in what shit will pull out to their enemy...
But they haven't calculate the big pull that they have toward to each other...

When the truth will be revealed about the past, what will happen???
Could they trust each other after all those shit that did in the name of revenge???
Can love to erase all the things that they forced to each other???
Because in love and war everything is alouded!!! And they did a lot!!!

I really liked that book. It was hillarious, pleasant, full of angst and steamy moments!!!
I loved Sydney's character... She wasn't back up to anything that presented in front of her... She was strong, independent and very stubborn...
Her hatred (or her disguised love as i would say) lead her in difficult paths...
And what can i say about Gray??? He was the worst enemy that you could have...
That guy made unbelievable things to get even with her!!!
I totally loved them!!!

Their devious minds were absolutely epic!!!

5 Huge Laugh Out Loud Stars

Everyone has someone in their life they want to throttle one minute and make out with the next, and for me that was a petite, dark-haired, snot mouth with an incredible capacity for evil.

To say I enjoyed Devious Minds would be a huge understatement. I laughed out loud standing in line for coffee. I laughed when I should've been doing laundry. I laughed out loud so much my kids kept giving me the side eye and questioning my sanity as only a tween can do. Totally worth it!

“People used to throw balls at my head in school. Balls were always flying at my face, hitting my mouth. Once I got a ball in the eye. So one day, I just had enough of balls in my face. So instead of letting them hit me, I just started grabbing them. I was so good at grabbing balls it became second nature. I could smell balls before they came at me.”

Gray "Micro-dick" Peters and Sydney Sinister Porter have what can only be described as a love/hate relationship with a little bit more of the hate thrown in for good measure. After a misunderstanding two years ago ended a night neither Gray or Sydney have been able to forget, both are unpleasantly surprised when their paths cross again. What starts off as smart ass banter quickly turns into a game of devious pranks and one upmanship.

"You guys don’t know my sister. She keeps Mace on her all the time. Even when she sleeps.” He paused to take in a dramatic breath. “And one time, she was so pissed at my mom, she stole Mom’s car and gave it to a homeless guy in exchange for his dog.” A desperate plea filled his eyes. “Seriously. She’s bad news.”

You know when you're reading a book and you can just tell the author had a fabulous time writing it? That's exactly how Devious Minds reads. The back and forth between Sydney and Gray was some of the best I've read. Luckily the heartfelt moments that eventually make an appearance were just as well done. I highly recommend this kick ass story for anyone looking for an NA read with a whole lot of snark and an actual story thrown in.

I'll leave you with an observation made by Sydney that I've also been making for years and I pray to the heavens finally catches on:

4 "I love your devious mind"

“I couldn't change our past, but I could sure as hell change our future.”

This was a lovers-to-haters-to-lovers romance. A book that will make you laugh, smile aanddd sad at some point.. but mostly LAUGH! I loved the humour and the sassiness of the characters, the story development and the romanceeeee!

Now about the story:

One night of sweet talks, pleasure and fun..

A night that turns out to be the worst night of Syndey's life because of words that she heard!

That experience made Sydney thougher. Now she was a girl who didn't take the crap from anyone. She was a badass DJ, she has a mouth that she wasn't afraid to use when it comes to insulting, she was awesome big stser and she was funny! Using her anonymous radio personality Sunday Lane, she exposes dirty laundry on the airwaves, and takes a few stabs at those she doesn't like very much, including the boy who break her heart!

“She's mine. I mean, she's mine to fuck with.”

Gray was left alone after his night with the girl with a guitar tatto on her back. He was smitten by her and tried to found her but never succeed. Now after years he met Syndey again and that's why when their devious games began.
Despite evrything he did to her, I loved him! He was a football star who could have any girl he wants but he wasn't after that. It was refreshing to read about a man who is not the total man-whore. He was funny, he was sweet and he was tough. He wanted to hate Syndey like she hated him but he couldn't bring himself doing it.

“I couldn’t help but admire her creative, if depraved mind.”

Blackmail, pranks but most of it desire and want .

Their steamy scenes were HOT , their feelings were real and honest and their hatered towards each other was just an addition to their sexual chemistry. They found their ways to each others heart's again! Under the hard exterior of Sydney's attitude was just a heart-broken and sweet girl and soon enough she revealed herself in front of Gray too! After everything they've done deep in their heart they knew that there were ment to be together!

“Sydney, I want to be with you.
Not just one night,
but the foreseeable future.
For as long as you can stand me.
I want to be with you.

I just need to say that I laughed out loud so many times because of Sydeny's brother - Jack! That boy was hilarious!!! (Same goes to Fernando and Chance, as well!) I mean, LOOK:

“People used to throw balls at my head in school. Balls were always flying at my face, hitting my mouth. Once I got a ball in the eye. So one day, I just had enough of balls in my face. So instead of letting them hit me, I started grabbing them. I was so good at grabbing balls it became second nature. I could smell balls before they came at me.„

Sydney Porter is...

description

description

She's Sunday Lane, DJ Sinister and Sydney Porter all wrapped into a petite, brown haired bad ass woman :P

description

Gray Peters is the guy that took her virginity only to brag about it later and rate her...or did he?

Well it doesn't really matter cause according to Sunday Lane he's now Microdick and nothing about him appeals to her...anymore...

description

Gray doesn't know why Sydney hates him so much but one thing is for sure: he hates her right back and the war between them is just starting. And when he finds out Sydney's secret he's about to make her pay even more...

But if all is fair in love and war...then it's just a matter of time before love follows the war and the lies they have been telling come crumbling down.

description

I have to tell you that I just loved this novel, and more especially Gray and Sydney. There was a moment when it fell a little dull and I might have considered rating it 4 stars but after finishing it all that I can tell you is that this book was...

RE - READ it, November 23, 2016.

"I love your DEVIOUS mind."

without a doubt, hands dowm, still one of the BEST BOOKS I have EVER read!

*solemnly bows*

First time reading it,October 2015!

5 and more deliciously DEVIOUS stars

I just need to say that I read this in one blink, one breath, one take...and in my humble opinion this book hits my shelf as ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ IN 2015!!!

it just hit all the right buttons, it was funny (hilarious)
it was sexy ,
it was hot ,
it was NA - yes, and it was fucking great/refreshing to go back into those days again ...although I don't remember having so much fun in my days (damn!)
and I ADORED both characters - Gray Peters and Sydney Porter ...their banter, passion, mischiefs, pranks (God, some of them were so original, I took a mental note to practice some of them on my hubby...bwahahah)
I loved the story I emerged into it and it just took my breath away...

fucking phenomenal read to ease up, to reflect, to laugh your ass off and, of course, to swoon over Gray Peters - the QB (duh?), even though he was a douche, at first...
I was too wrapped up in my plot to crush dreams

BUT then their antics and pranks give them the space to act more near one another and they do slowly realize how good it feels to be in each other's vicinity, and then the real truth just happens to show them both the other side of hate...it's a thin line to cross over
Sidney had so much personality that every time I made her laugh or smile, I felt like I'd won an Oscar.

He made me laugh. He made me question everything I thought I knew about people - especially him. He was kind and funny and a horrible dancer, but he was real and I think I loved him.

Sydney Porter a sassy, witty, mouthy, cruel and bold, big-hearted girl that works as a part-time DJ

making her own music and loving it and another part as a speaker/gossip guuurl under alias Sunday Lane on a campus radio station
Sunday Lane: a cheeky, no-filters personality who picked apart university flaws and campus morons. My anonymity allowed me abundant freedom over the air.

that was once a "collateral victim" of a huge misunderstanding and "broken-record" hear say in an encounter with the hot shot quarterback Gray Peters when they met 2 years ago...

that misunderstanding causes a hate/lust/love relationship and a lot of funny pranks and mischiefs until they realize the inevitable between them is bound to unravel...
Two years apart from Gray, harboring immense hatred, left me bitter and angry. But right now, my bitterness melted just seeing him smile, and my anger disappeared reading the honesty in his warm eyes.

and when they do unravel it...it's flamable
We were animals. tearing one another apart. Groaning and grunting into one another's mouth, only to pull away to mutter out a fuck or a yes every few seconds.

It was rough. It was primal. It was incredible.

Sydney was a destructive tornado whipping through my mind and body. I couldn't stay away. I had to experience the damage she'd inflict, because just feeling anything with her was better than nothing at all.

and I just LOVE the two young people on the cover of the book that I can't imagine anyone else as Sydney or Gray (I don't know who they are but they are perfect)

4 Sinister Stars!
Sydney Porters and Gray Peters meet one night at a party. Sydney and Gray hook up. While Gray is off getting them some drinks Sydney over hears something and jets.
Two years later Sydney transfers to that college and her brother is on the same football team as Gray.
Sydney's brother Jack is not your average college kid. Coach tells Gray to help Jack be more sociable. Sydney hates Gray and wants Gray to have no influence on her nerdy brother.
Gray has no clue what crawled up Sydney's ass. He's been thinking about her for two years. He thought they had a great time that night and has no clue why she ran.
Sydney messes with Grays car. Gray steals the wheels off Sydney's truck. The pranks are endless. I was laughing my ass off all night.
But what happens when another guy comes into the picture? Will Gray stop Sydney from getting involved with a not so good guy?
What happens when Grays prank turns bad? Will Sydney be able to forgive him?
I thought this was a sweet story. You could tell Gray had falling for Sydney that first night they were together. Of course everything could of been settled early on if Sydney would of just listened to Gray.
If you're like me and love a good enemies to lovers/second chance type book with lots of sweet syrup and a feisty h then you will love this book!

This year is definitely not the year of epic reads for me, but I love a book that makes me actually laugh out loud. I am not talking about thinking "oh that’s funny", but actually laugh so much your husband asks what you are doing Devious Minds did just that!

When I first started this one I was terrified, I mean Gray and Sydney are at each other’s throats. I could easily see that at some point this would blow up in their faces. However, the more I read the more I just came to love this whole dynamic. Sydney and Gray are fantastic and hilarious, and I truly loved their lovers, to enemies, to lovers story.

BUT I also loved just everything else. I loved Jack, Sydney’s brother. I loved her roommate, Allison. I loved Gray’s teammates and friends. See I felt so much angst just reading about their schemes, but all of that fell back when I saw them together or when they interacted with the other characters.

So you know how you get asked questions if you could besties with any character or be the love interest in any story. Well, I love Mal Erikson, this guy has been one of my favoritest characters for a long time. However, NOW, I want to be friends with this entire group: Gray, Sydney, Jack, Chance or Fernando. I mean I would take any or all.

If you are looking for a light fun read, but is also sexy and completely heart warming - READ THIS BOOK!

4.5 stars!

It’s been a while since I read a romantic comedy and so happy I chose Devious Minds to rekindle it. This book had me smiling and laughing throughout with the funny pranks and banter between the MCs and side characters. The chemistry among them was phenomenal. But it's not all laughs though, there is plenty of romance and sexy moments between the MCs. I loved it!

My first read by K.F. Germaine and looking forward to reading more.

Horrible. Just horrible. Look, I love the enemies-to-lovers trope. That's why, even though I've been swamped with school works for weeks now, I decided to finally take a break from all the studying and read something funny and feel-good. Hahaha nope. The universe just doesn't want me to have any fun right now because instead of a hilarious read, I got a messed up one.

Nothing is fucking funny about this:
Maybe you should take a long hard, look at yourself in the mirror and ask, 'Why do I continue to give head?' and maybe you'll figure out, like all the rest of the cheerleading squad, you were born to do it, and that's your fate in life. To suck a quarterback's dick.

And that right there is said by the hero of this story. So fucking dreamy. Heart eyez.

After locating the closest bathroom, I hovered over the toilet to pee. God knows what kinds of diseases these girls harbored. Their vaginas where just ships passing in the night, stopping to pick up every dirty sailor.

And this from the heroine. Ugh, they deserve each other. Rot in hell, you two.

Now I have a headache and for once, it's not because of school. I'm out.

*sorry, no internet guys, so a quick phone review is best I can do-sad face*

I adored Gray but really never connected with the hipster, grungy Sydney. The first 50% I repeatedly pushed myself through scenarios that never felt real to me...however, after 50%, Gray took the book to a level I couldn't help but fall in love with, evening out all the weird radio host crap that had me scrunching my nose in distaste in the beginning.

So...Gray, baby, you earned all these stars being the sexy, persistent, evil turd you are. Mmm. Anyway.

HOPEFULLY review to come (with some damn GIFs !!!)

“4.5 Sinister Stars”

It rarely happens that you stumble upon a book which just flew under the radar or author you have never heard off, brings you such joy and laughter. Devious minds is one such book which surprised me with its quirky characters, smart and funny story. I devoured this baby in just one day! Plot is simple and reused, basically a enemies to lover’s troop, but what made it lively was the humor and the ever so vibrant characters.

Gray Peters a star quarterback and Sydney Porter an aspiring DJ, were hooked up during his freshman year. It wasn’t supposed to be like any one night stand but they parted ways in not so good terms. Now after two years when Sydney’s brother Jack, a newbie to the football team was assigned to Gray, they once again cross path but this time the WAR IS ON and neither of them is going to back down until they burn the other to ground. Hence, there begins a never ending battle of bitter remarks, pranks and lots and lots of sexual tension.
“Everyone has someone in their life they want to throttle one minute and make out with the next, and for me that was a petite, dark-haired, snot mouth with an incredible capacity for evil.”
For me the star of the story was Sydney! she is snarky, stubborn with evil tendencies in other words the bitch you do not want to mess with! she’s also funny, full of life and a protective big sister, like BIG time!
My life is over tomorrow.
Sydney Porter will be banished from campus.
A mob of angry villagers will have stormed my dorm room with torches in their hands, chanting,
‘Hand over the witch.’
I liked every moment of Gray and Sydney together. Loved all the characters especially Jack, he had me at balls. All of them make it a one big hilarious crazy ride! I had this shit eating grin on my face, even after finishing it!

With its easy flow in story, charming characters and laugh out loud dialogues, Devious Minds makes an hell of a refreshing entertaining read.

OMG... I think this author hijacked my snarky personality, shot it up with a dose of balls to the wall gusto, and stapled it to the pages of this book. Frightening, aye?!?

What's What

So if you don't dig snark, banter, and revenge pranks... Ehh, you probably won't like this. I loved it, but I'm also routinely asked...

Anyhoo...

"Devious Minds" is the perfect title for this romantic comedy with a twist of lime.

It starts with one misunderstanding and spirals into a clusterfuck of wicked games, secrets, and suppressed feelings set to the beat of a witty, sexy, and hilarious song and dance.

description

The two MCs remind me of what Dennis the Menace would be like all grown up. They embark on a game of wit and trickery to one-up the other because they each feel like the other slighted them, but end up finding their match within each other;)

Past that ^^, there are actually quite a few sub-plots playing out here both with the MCs and secondary characters.

I think the author did an excellent job at making these secondary elements fun and/or meaningful and ensuring they go from a point a-z... whilst also not allowing them to weigh the story down or take it over. I felt like I knew and liked the secondary characters, but they never stole the show.

The pacing is good. I liked how the backstory of the MC's one night together two years ago was slowly woven into the current timeline little chunks at a time. I like how the transition from hate to love took time, energy, and effort without it turning into an all out 90210 angst episode.

Characters

While there's a lot of plot here, the story itself is character-driven. They are hilarious and have big bright personalities. I couldn't wait to see what craziness would erupt from their mouths & brains next.

It's all done in a Rachel Van D "The Consequences of Loving Colton" style of OTT sarcasm and crazy antics, but it's a bit more grounded in the plot than that book & doesn't get as flamboyant as Van D.

The plot and tempo remind me of movies like Wedding Crashers , Ace Ventura, War of The Roses, and Animal House.

The author carries the MCs to the edge between wittily deviousness and ruthlessly bitch/bastard, but she always pulls them back and grounds them with a conscious for what's too far. In other words, they don't actually want to do physical harm to each other (no arsenic)... but a little suffering is a dish set firmly on the table!

Flaws

I'm quite shocked that this is the author's first book because there aren't many technical flaws in writing, plot, nor characters to bawhaw over. The three things I'd point out are:

1. Fernando (whom can't mentally gather the snub behind "FU") DETAILED out a step-by-step recount of a day that happened TWO years ago. EHH, not believable AT ALL!

2. I didn't understand Syd's reaction to the letter in comparison to the rest of the 'revenge' pranks. I get that it was a bigger blow for her personally, but the reaction to it vs the rest when it was all done for the same reason and in the same timeframe just didn't ring authentic to me.{ Ie forced plot device for angst. }

3. The pound cake text was never explained.

The End

Absolutely loved the final chapters. It ends in a happy, comfortable place, but not a end all, be all place;) The author satisfied readers, but still left herself lots of room to do more, and I do see that a book two is in the works !! So yeah, I'll just sit right here and be...

Wow...what a great book about second chances and revenge. You know sometimes this book reminded me of "Scream Queens" and I just had to think of some of these characters as "Chanel #1, 2 or 5"

Then Micro Dick...OMG - this book had me rolling on the floor more times than I can remember. Between him and Jack with his "sensitive" ways...and OMG....FERNANDO!!!

I absolutely LOVED all these characters and thank Jennifer for recommending this book!!

Great call, girlfriend! ♥

Probably one of my favourite NA books of 2015.Such a fun and captivating story.
I loved both Sydney and Gray and their little games. They are connected by a long and sad story, but that doesn't mean that the chemistry between them disappeared-if anything, its even more explosive than before!I really liked Sydney's brother Jack-he's such a great character. Also, how can you not love Sunday Lane, the ultimate "no-filters" type of person:

Also,that DJ-ing/making out scene...Wow.

5+++++++ ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE, BLEW ME AWAY, DESPERATE FOR MORE FROM THIS AUTHOR, ENEMIES TO LOVERS FOREVER STARS!!!!!

"What would I do with my life if you weren’t here to fuck with?”

WOW! What a book! Seriously, I am still gushing, and laughing, and swooning and reeling from this absolutely brilliant gem by K.F Germaine, who I have sort-of gushingly fallen in author-love with overnight!!

The story revolves around Sydney and Gray... two college students who embark on a war path of vengeance and humiliation... Sydney thinks Gray is a "disease riddled amoeba slithering around campus". Gray thinks Sydney is "a petite temptress, a succubus in a fat man’s pterodactyl shirt." But while they are busy trying to out-smart each other, it becomes obvious to everyone around them that they're perfect for each other as well!

There is NOTHING I can fault with this story. It is one of, if not THE BEST enemies to lovers books I've read this year. I loved everything about this book. But, seeing as I'm a bit of a list girl lately, here are my top 5...

1. The kick-ass heroine. It's so rare to come across a heroine who is so strong and vulnerable at the same time. Sydney is hilarious and sweet and determined... and she's someone you'd never really want to piss off. One of my favourite heroines this year, Sydney is a breath of fresh air.

2. The delectable and mischievious hero, Gray. Finally a guy who can claim his girl without becoming one. Germaine was able to weave his vulnerability with a sense of male ego in the most realistic way without losing an ounce of romance. Hats off to you Ms Germaine... I was desperate for a new hero and Gray delivered in spades!!

3. The supporting cast of unforgetable characters. I am not sure who I adored more. The perpetually squealing Allison, in all her pink and cream glory; the hopelessly embarrasing Jack Porter; the glaring presence of Snake; or Gray's two best friends: Chance, the x-box bully with an eye for the ladies, and his loveable giant sidekick, Fernando. I loved them all.

4. Some of the best pranks and put-downs in NA romance history. Nothing was safe. From Porsches to tampons... everything is fair in this game of love and war!

5. The way that EVERY SINGLE PAGE put a smile on my face... and every chapter resulted in the not-so-attractive- but-completely-uncontrollable snorts of laughter!

I am so glad this was my final read for the year. What a fantastic way to end a year filled with over 160 stories of love and passion. Devious Minds is a brilliant story about two people learning that the courage to come clean and forgive is a risk worth taking.

Hilarious, frustrating, exhausting, cute, different.

I didn't love this, sometimes I wanted to punch the main characters, and yet it was damn entertaining and I could hardly put it down.
Not for those who are looking for a sweet comfort read.
