I officially finished reading Agatha Christie's bibliography, I kept this last thinking it won't be good, since I don't like her espionage genre but it was wonderful and I had fun.

"Whenever there is a chance of agreement being reached or any sign of dispersal of suspicion, some incident occurs to plunge one side back in distrust, or the other side into definite hysterical fear. These things are *not* accidents, Victoria, they are deliberately produced for a calculated effect."For this somewhat-rare foray into political intrigue (an entry with more than a hint of Graham Greene), AC takes as her protagonist Victoria Jones - a certain type of feisty, spirited young lady that allows the author a sort of madcap tone on which to anchor the plot.
"And if the meeting comes off--comes off without a hitch--well, it might be the saving of--everything. If some kind of understanding could only be reached--" he broke off.Foggy stuff like that. Even when the 'clues' are a bit more transparent:
There was nothing to show that he was an Englishman, and that he carried with him a secret that influential men in almost every country in the world were striving to intercept and to destroy along with the man who carried it.... the narrative feels impregnable. But then you get to about halfway and - wham! ~ someone flicks the end of the domino line (with a potent monologue).
“They’ve got people everywhere,” thought Victoria.
