Five residents. Five floors. Five books predicting their deaths.
When a mysterious book appears on each doorstep of the Shiverstone Tower Apartments, the residents think it’s a prank, until they open the covers.
Inside is the impossible. Perfect records of their lives, from childhood memories to the deep-rooted secrets they’ve buried as adults…all the way to the moment they are destined to die. Only the final chapter hasn’t happened yet.
The author gives them three days to read their story and figure out how to survive it.
Some panic. Some plot. Some refuse to believe a word.
But the books never lie.
As paranoia climbs floor by floor, alliances form, ugly truths surface, and every choice becomes a clue in someone else’s ending. Only the “worthy” will live long enough to rewrite their fate.
Who survives? Who doesn’t?
Your book tells the story, but only MY BOOK has the answers.

Murder in the building meets Knives out and boy oh boy are the gloves off and 🔪 out!!
Picture an outdated 5 story apartment building where the super doesn’t care about city codes and uses duct tape 🔨 to fix everything. But then imagine within this building are 5 residents who all have pretty dark secrets they are keeping and somehow they are all connected to each other and don’t even know it. YET.
One day, random books appear at their doors. Not wrapped, just out in the open. Each book is appropriately titled, “My Book” 📕 written specifically about the life of the intended recipient, in this case, each of the 5 tenants in this building. How does the author know everything about them? Who is this mystery writer?
What they don’t know yet is that the clock ⏰ is ticking because they have just 🗓️3️⃣ days to confess their wrongdoings to each other and figure out the hidden clues 🔍 or else die at midnight on the third day. Who will survive? 👀
Let me tell you, at first I wasn’t sure I would like this book. This is a popcorn thriller/cozy mystery. Once I got through the first few chapters introducing us to the tenants of Shiverstone Tower Apartments, and once they realized the books were about them, I was hooked!
What made this even more FUN to read is that I purchased a mystery box with book from the author. She puts together little prizes 🎁 that correlate to certain chapters in the book. They are numbered so you know which chapter they are for. The idea is, you open up the gifts as you read that chapter. I had so much fun with this! Are they silly little gifts? Yes. But I still couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter that had a prize because I’m a child that way! 🤣
You can order these boxes from her website authorsamaracove.com. This would make a great gift for the bookish people in your life!
In addition to the prizes, there is a hidden message throughout the book that you can solve once you get to the end, also another layer of fun!
You know it was a decent book if I’m up at 3am after finishing it AND writing my review because I just had to get this out to you right now!
If you’re looking for a pallet cleanser, something lighter, or just something different, give this book and this indie author a try! 💕
This one got me faster than I expected. At first it sounds simple enough, people receiving books about their lives. But when it starts revealing how they’re going to die, that’s when it shifts into something much more unsettling. Once they’re stuck in the building with no power and no way out, the tension just keeps tightening. What really worked for me were the characters. They’re not particularly likable, and I think that’s the point. Everyone is hiding something, and you can feel it in the way they interact with each other. Nothing feels comfortable once those secrets start coming out.
This book completely pulled me in with its creepy, claustrophobic premise. Residents of Shiverstone Tower : Kara, Chad, Darrin, Nora, and Paige start receiving mysterious books one by one that contain every detail of their lives…including how they’re going to die. At first it feels impossible, maybe even like some twisted prank, but then the random power outages start, the tension builds, and they realize they’re trapped inside the building with no way out. No cell service. No escape. Just the books, their darkest secrets, and each other.
What made this even more addictive was realizing these characters were connected in ways they never knew outside of simply living in the same building. As secrets started surfacing and pieces began falling into place, the story got more intense with every chapter. Watching them uncover how tangled their lives really were while paranoia and fear kept growing made it impossible to stop reading.
I loved how claustrophobic and unsettling the atmosphere felt inside Shiverstone Tower. Trust disappeared fast once everyone realized the books knew everything. All of the buried trauma, lies, guilt, and secrets no one else should’ve known. Every interaction started feeling dangerous because no one knew who to trust or if someone else’s survival meant their own death.
The twists genuinely caught me off guard, and I flew through the ending desperate to know who would make it out alive if any of them. If you love psychological thrillers with isolated settings, morally messy characters, shocking connections, and nonstop tension, this one is absolutely worth reading.
Wow! This is my first experience with the author’s work, and I must admit I’m already a fan! I was drawn into the story immediately and was completely invested from the start. I love her writing—characters you either love or love to hate, and mysteries that unravel in a wonderful way. Everything is set for an amazing reading experience! It only took me a few hours to finish the book, and it left me wanting more… Definitely a must-read! ❤️
I had high hopes for "The Book" but was misled by high ratings and an intriguing plot description. There were so many problems with flat and inconsistent characters. The writing was clunky, sentences were uneven, the writing was just awkward, and mixed metaphors were distracting. I DNFed this book at about 40%. I just couldn't go on. The author had a good idea but desperately needs a good editor.
"Oh, for the love of pickled nonsense, what in the hocus-pocus was that?"
What did I just read?? Frieda who? If you haven’t read any of Samara Cove’s books, start with this one right here!
My Book follows 5 residents trapped in a shady apartment complex who each mysteriously receive a book about their life. AND their death. They all have secrets that they will do anything to protect.
My Book took me on a twisty roller coaster that I could not get off of. It’s very fast paced, with short chapters, & interesting characters. Some likable & some not so much. Filled with paranoia, half truths, suspense, & murder. Finding out what each characters story was, is why I had such a hard time putting this book down. I could almost call this book addicting.
My Book is by far my favorite of Samara’s. I pre-ordered a mystery box from her website which allowed me to receive & devour an autographed copy before the release date. With the mystery box, I was given instructions with little packages that you open after the chapter it’s numbered with. There were also 2 “hidden” messages. One for the reader, & one to wrap up the book. I also had a personalized one just for me hidden in there! It was a blast & I highly recommend trying one if Samara ever offers that again in the future.
I had the chance to read *My Book*, the newest release from Samara Cove, and it’s one that will keep you turning pages far past bedtime! 📖
Set inside the eerie and all-too-real Shiverstone Apartments, this story follows a group of residents whose lives are far more connected than they realize. Each character is confronted with a deeply personal, often devastating truth—revealed through mysterious books written by an anonymous author. These pages don’t just expose their worst moments… they predict how they’ll die, and hint at whether redemption is even possible. 😱
As tensions rise within the building—fueled by power outages, claustrophobic living, and clashing egos—the residents must decide if they can overcome themselves in order to survive what’s coming.
This book is layered with mystery, hidden clues, and clever twists that make it impossible not to stay alert. 🚨Every detail feels intentional, and uncovering the connections between characters is half the fun.
And for longtime Cove readers… there’s something extra waiting for you. IYKYK 👀 HTMYND 🏡
Mark your calendars: 12/16 📅 ‼️
Once you step into Shiverstone Apartments… you might not make it out.
Advanced Reader Copy A brilliant psychological thriller filled with suspense as 5 residents of Shiverstone Tower apartments must face their deepest secrets and tell the others their deepest regrets if they want a chance at redemption and getting out of the apartments alive. The story was addicting and thrilling and I was completely enthralled as the clock ticked down closer and closer. The character development was terrific as the reader gets to see pieces of each one revealed layer by layer. I found that I could relate to each of the characters and the book’s plot made me question what I would do in a similar situation. The creativity of the author to have the reader play along with the riddle was great too! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it’s now my new favorite of hers. A fabulously entertaining 5-star read that kept me glued the entire time! This book will be released on 4/21/26.
I will not spoil this delectable work by Samara Cove for future readers. The joy of reading My Book is indeed in the journey from cover to cover, and if you're like me, you'll linger over the minutiae you readily devour like morsels on the path to the book's surprising end, assuming you've figured out the relational entanglements- but you won't. As the tapestry, ie. the book, unfolds, I found myself saying, "Aha! Of course!" It. Was. Masterful.
After reading about each of the characters in the book who live in the same condo (and I say this loosely) building, I wondered how on Earth such disparate people could cross paths and be intertwined like a knotted skein of yarn. Samara's vision board for My Book had to be large, and as I read this ARC that I was invited to read, I could see into the future: she'll one day be as ubiquitously read as Patricia Cornwell, Jeffrey Deaver, and yes, Freida McFadden.
Now I want to re-read it to discover what I missed....
tense, driven by a series of well-executed twists and turns. By forcing the residents of Shiverstone Tower to confront their darkest regrets as a means of survival, the story moves beyond a simple thriller and becomes a deep exploration of human nature. It prompted a great deal of self-reflection regarding personal morality and the lengths one might go to for their family when pushed to the absolute limit. This was my second experience with Samara Cove’s writing, and it certainly won't be my last. I am already looking forward to exploring the rest of her backlist. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking a psychological mystery that lingers in the mind long after the final page. Content Warning: This story contains themes of psychological tension and high-stakes survival. It explores characters being forced to confront deep-seated regrets and moral dilemmas that some readers may find intense or unsettling.
“My Book” by Samara Cove is such an entertaining and addictive read that I couldn’t put down. It follows five residents in an apartment building who each receive a mysterious book predicting their deaths. They’re meant to read their stories and work together to figure out how to change their fate, but the deeper they go, the more dark secrets come to light that no one wants to share.
This story is packed with lies, deception, paranoia, and perfectly placed humor that adds to the overall experience. The tension builds as the characters struggle between self-preservation and trusting each other, and I found myself completely hooked from start to finish.
I also loved the mystery box I ordered that went along with the book. It added an extra layer of fun to the experience, though the story itself is full of clever clues that keep you guessing the whole way through.
My Book by Samara Cove 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Fantastic and exciting read! This is a wild and suspenseful thriller!! I was barely able to get out of my chair for the entire book! I couldn’t put it down!
Five residents of the Shiverstone Tower apartments are forced to come together when mysterious books end up at their front doors. The mystery and game of survival begin!
The book is very well written and the intensity and twists are non stop! The character development is great, and the reader gets to learn lots of their secrets!
I was lucky to get an arc of this amazing book, and extra lucky to have a fun book box to go along with it! There are secret gifts to unwrap as you read different chapters. A very unique and entertaining bonus to go along with the read! (Look into a book box on Sam’s Cove’s author page)
**This book comes out April 21st and is a must read!* ✏️📚📚📚📚📚📚✏️
I pre-ordered My Book box from the author's website which allowed me to receive it before the release date.
I don't think I have ever gotten through a 400+ page book so fast. This book has everything....it is a fast paced thriller with mystery, lies, deceit, crazy characters you love to hate or think you hate and then end up loving . This book was so much fun to read. It captured my attention off the bat and I had the hardest time putting it down. I highly recommend it! And if you want to add to the book experience, head to Samara's website and order the box which comes with a signed copy of the book and fun mystery items that you unwrap as you read.
This is such an amazing book! Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The twists and turns are great! Everyone has a secret they'd love to keep, something they regret or maybe they don't regret in some cases (like Nora). Most would love a chance for redemption, a chance to turn their life around and make it right. The villain in this story forces the people in the Shiverstone Tower Apartments to face their mistakes and change their ways in order to survive. Makes me wonder if faced with the situations those people faced would I do the same things to get out to see my family again. I always prided myself as being someone who would do anything for my family..but could I really?? Really got me to thinking. Awesome book. love that it gets you thinking ..what would I do if...
First, Samara Cove has quickly become one of my favorite authors—each book somehow better than the last. This one had me hooked from the very first page, and I genuinely didn’t want to put it down. The characters felt incredibly real—complex, flawed, sometimes shady, yet still laced with moments of humor that made them even more compelling. The way their secrets unraveled in layers kept me completely engaged, with each reveal adding to the tension and pulling me deeper into the story. This was a twisty, suspense-filled ride that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another surprise was waiting. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next—definitely an auto-read for me moving forward.
There’s something special about picking up a book from a favorite author—you go in with high expectations, and every once in a while, those expectations are not only met but completely exceeded. This was one of those times.
From the very first chapter, My Book pulled me in and refused to let go. The pacing was spot-on. Every twist felt intentional, every reveal satisfying. It’s the kind of book that keeps you thinking “just one more chapter”… until suddenly you’re at the end.
This book reminded me exactly why this author is a favorite of mine. It had everything I look for—strong storytelling, compelling characters, and that unputdownable quality that makes reading such a joy.
An amazing read from start to finish, and one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
If you haven't read a Samara Cove book yet, start here and then read all of her other books. I love that her books are short chapters and you are easily sucked in. This book is about 5 different residents who are trapped in their apartment complex and must come to terms with their secrets in order to escape. The chapters are told from various characters POV so the book flows easily. And Samara always has a great twist in her books! As with all of her books, I was able to read it from start to finish rather quickly because each chapter pulls you in to the next.
My Book releases on 04/21/26.
As always, thank you to Samara for sending me ARCs of all of her thrillers!!
Five residents receive books that detail their entire lives… right up to how they die—except the ending hasn’t happened yet 😳📖
The characters? Messy in the BEST way—paranoid, secretive, sche ‘n ming, and spiraling as the tension climbs. Watching them try to outplay fate (and each other) is chef’s kiss chaos.
The writing is sharp, fast, and addictive with a claustrophobic, eerie vibe you can feel closing in.
Short and loud: This book is twisty, tense, and had me STRESSED—in the best way.
Oh my goodness this book was great! I didnt want to put it down but unfortunately it took longer to read than I wanted! So many twists and turns and you literally learn all the bad messed up stuff your few neighbors have done in their lives! Crazy you can see people that live close to you and never know what they truly did or that it could ever impact your life. They learn how much people found out about them from a book left at their doors. People are totally not what you expect. Definitely a must read and another great book from Samara! Her books are awesome!
I found this one on Facebook on a post by the author. I have never read anything by the author before, but I loved the post. The name of the book, and the cover were also very eye catching!
I read this in one sitting, there was no chapter to end on.. every chapter made you want to read “just one more chapter, or one more page.” I definitely figured out every “twist” but I honestly didn’t care. It was such a great book. The writing was easy, and easy to read, definitely a book that you can get lost in and enjoy.
Loved the fun and unique ending ! I did not figure out !
To live at Shiverstone Apartments is an ordeal. How well do you know your neighbors? They all receive books about their lives and have to wonder how everything is intertwined. And who will perish and who will survive? It had me in a grip that made me turn pages and wonder what was gonna happen next and who was gonna survive in the days coming. Samara has a way of reeling you in and grabbing a hold. I can’t wait for her next book!
Samara Cove knows how to tell a story, she is a great writer! I was hooked fro page 1! I was intrigued throughout trying to figure out how this one was going to turn out. I loved how everyone had there own chapters and their own secrets! Mind blowing! How she wove in her little Easter egg at the end, if you’ve read her other books! This is a must read, stay up all night! Great author! Psych thriller and a mystery all in one!
Im just now releasing the breath I didnt know I was holding when I started this book, died at the ending, and came back to life just to read the hidden messages!! I can't even put into words what this book did to me. This book was psychological thriller mixed with clue on Crack and I loved every word of it. Samara never ceases to amaze me. And its the same universe as How to make your neighbors disappear which was my absolute favorite book!
A very unique experience. I've never read anything like it. And I loved it. Learning what connected all the characters was a mind blowing ride. I figured it out in chapter 66. Lost it at 70. Did this about 5 more times. Then sat there staring at the words when it was revealed.
A great read. Even the throwback at the end never missed a beat. I still have three to go, but I'd recommend all that I have read of Cove's.
My Book by @Samara Cove -Thriller Author is full of character energy…and not the good kind! Check out these characters that live in a complex together….a complex full of deep secrets. These secrets now must be shared with each other in order to survive! What will the secrets reveal between these people? Be prepared to be absolutely mind blown 🤯 on page #435! #bookrecommendation #5star #samaracove
A very different kind of book but a very well written book. I usually do not like multiple POVs but I took a glance at them an realized this was written in the exact format of multiple POVs that I can read. Im soo glad I read this. It was an incredible book. I knew from page one this would be a one sitting read kind of book.
This was my first book of samara's and it wont be my last. This was a fun read!
This is the most overrated book I have ever read. I considered abandoning it in its first few pages. I only continued because of the high ratings from Goodreads. It’s sad to leave a book with absolutely no characters you would wish to remember and perhaps find again in a sequel. I only felt great relief to make it to the end.
Samara has done it again. A book that has twist after twist and keeps you engaged the entire time! Who killed who and why? Read My Book and find out all the reasons. Great book and highly recommend!
Sharp, unsettling, and laced with paranoia, Samara Cove delivers a story that toys with fate, trust, and the darkness people hide—even from themselves. Every page feels like a ticking clock. Claustrophobic, clever, and quietly terrifying.
What a good book! All I can say is what if that really happened? This book kept me engaged and wanting more. Took me only 5 days to read and that’s a record!! This is my first book by Samara, now I need to more of her books! Thank you Samara!!
