I don't even know where to start with how much you need to read this book. It's the kind of brilliant work where you wonder how someone didn't do this earlier, but then of course there's no shortage of artistic antecedents, from the AIDS Quilt to the Chilean arpilleras. This is both in these, and other radical fabric art traditions, and it is also its own shining gem of an art piece. Twelve stories from queer and trans folks, each about an important memory, each lovingly illustrated in a piece of symbolic embroidery. This is a monumental act of care and community and it absolutely blew me away.
