Hockey romances are pretty popular right now, and this one didn't disappoint. It was a quick and easy read. The characters could have used a little bit more development, understanding why they were both so closed off in the beginning. One thing I did find myself rolling my eyes at was that the end of each chapter in the first half of the book ended with some form of "we shouldn't do this, but of course we can't resist" inner dialog that just became redundant. That said the story was cute and believable. I found myself ready to come back and read it. Rhett sounds sexy and serious so when he admits his feelings, it's adorable. Blair sounds like she knows what she wants out of this romance and you can't help but want it for her. I'd be interested in reading more stories from the other players on the team.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received this as an ARC, and throughly enjoyed it.
A hockey romance told in the dual POV’s of Blair (FMC) and Rhett (MMC).
Blair and Rhett find themselves sharing Rhett’s apartment at the instance of Blair’s brother Griffin, when Blair’s apartment building needs repairs. Their first meeting is hot, spicy and sets the tone for the rest of the book. You might be able to see where the story goes, but it certainly doesn’t make you want to stop reading.
Blair is quick to see that there is much more to Rhett than just being an enforcer on the ice, there is a depth to him that she was not expecting.
There is the angst of wanting/ needing someone that you can’t have and the loyalties attached to that for both Rhett and Blair. Lines are crossed, and it’s sad to see the guilt that they both have not wanting to hurt Blair’s brother.
When an injury sees their undisputed need come to the surface they then realize that some things are worth the risk and fighting for.
Hats off to Aly for making such an engaging book that I couldn’t put down. Great read which you can finish in a day.

Tropes 🏒 Hockey Romance 🛏️ Forced proximity ❤️🩹 Brothers best friend 🤫 Workplace romance
I love hockey romances and this is a good one featuring Blair and Rhett. They find themselves sharing Rhett’s apartment when Blair’s apartment needs repairs on the insistence of Blair’s brother and Rhett’s friend, Griffin. Sparks fly. Things happen and then they must live with their choices making things a little awkward. They think it’s a mistake because of the circumstances and guilt they feel and not wanting to hurt Griffin. An unforeseen injury forces them to come to terms with everything. They agree some things are worth fighting for, including their relationship. The story was well written with well-developed characters. This is the second in the series, but it is a standalone. The writing style is fast paced and flows wonderfully from beginning to end. Well worth a read.
