Olivia Lockhart (Livvie to her friends) is an English author who can't quite decide if she wants to write contemporary romance, paranormal romance, historical romance or romantasy. Either way, it HAS to be romance.

She loves to write about the underdog, the one who got away, the bits of love stories we can all relate to.

When not writing she can be found drinking wine, cuddling her beloved pooch or with her head buried in a book.

Annalise, a physics and mathematics student in 1960s Cambridge, is a whirlwind who challenges the social and gender norms of the time. She is at the peak of her promiscuity and is in no hurry to settle down. Despite the occasional hookup with Jim from the pub, and the plethora of men available to her being the only female in her class, she finds the person who will tame her in the most unexpected of places – her attic.

Annalise finds a box containing letters from Harry, an American soldier who fought in WW1, to his English lover who presumably lived at her address long before she did. She not only becomes curious about the writer and recipient of the letter, about her unborn child, about what happened of them and where they are now, but she quickly becomes besotted by the soldier’s words, captivated by how he etched part of his heart on every piece of cursive.

Little does she know, she will track down Harry. He ends up somewhere he shouldn’t be, and they fall – at first gradually, and then abruptly – in love. As part of her degree, she is working on something that could send him back to where he should be. But will Harry's love for Annalise make him question whether it’s in this timeline he belongs. And that how he came to be here is a lot like love itself, both wondrous and inexplicable.

A lovely historical romance filled with love across the ages and main characters you’ll want to follow to the ends of the earth!

Lockhart and Lambert do a fantastic job breathing life into the characters of Harry and Annalise. Harry, our gruff stoic war hero, and Annalise, our smart fierce take-no-shit genius. Both characters are extremely well fleshed out and are characters you won’t be able to stop yourself from rooting for. They have their own distinct voices, motivations, and characteristics that make them both feel so real.

I love the format of this novel! A fair amount takes place in letter format, letters from Harry to Anna in the past and letters from Annalise to Harry in the future that she never expects anyone to read but herself. Through these letters, the readers get to discover so much more about these characters and I feel like I could be a penpal observer for many more conversations!

The war setting, and especially the 1960s college setting, were clear and vivid. Great time periods to house such a lovely story. They made for a wonderful backdrop of the blossoming unfolding romance. If you are a fan of historical, with a side of timeslip, romance, you will not be disappointed!
