It’s time to cue the music; it’s time to dim the lights! It’s time to get things started as the Muppets return tonight!
The show is about to begin at the famous Muppet Theatre, and the regular pre-curtain chaos has the troupe’s stalwart MC, Kermit the Frog, coming apart at the seams. In an attempt to de-stress, he settles down to read a few pages of a favorite old detective novel — only to get kayoed by an errant brick to the bean, leaving him laid out backstage as his co-stars try to coax him back to consciousness.
But unbeknownst to them, Kermit has taken up the hard-boiled mantle of his fictional hero to walk the darkened streets of Dreamland, righting wrongs and cracking cases under the concealing cover of night. Flip Minnow, P.I., has no time for song and dance — not if he’s going to solve the baffling mystery of the Snoozing Sleuth!
Legendary cartooning talent and Muppets comics veteran ROGER LANGRIDGE bellies up to the drawing table once more for an all-new tale of crime and pun-ishment with The Muppets Noir #1 — featuring clue-filled cover art from both the author and guest artist DECLAN SHALVEY, as well as an appropriately enigmatic DELUXE MYSTERY BLIND BAG! The Blind Bag contains two limited editions of the issue selected randomly from a range of variant covers exclusive to this offering — including a new original cover, colored blanks, and more! Please Note: The number of Blind Bags is limited, and allocations may occur.
Roger Langridge has been producing comics for over twenty years. Most recently, he has attracted critical attention for his work on the Harvey Award-winning Muppet Show Comic Book (Boom! Studios) and Thor: The Mighty Avenger (Marvel Comics); other works of note include Marvel's Fin Fang Four, Fantagraphics' Zoot! and Art d'Ecco (in collaboration with his brother Andrew), and the NCS, Ignatz, Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated comic book Fred the Clown. He currently lives in London with his wife Sylvie, their two children and a box of his own hair.
(B) 73% | More than Satisfactory Notes: I guess it's fun, just gags and puns, but real story-thin, less noir per se than high school play—low genre vibe therein.
Listen, I love the Muppets, I want to consume anything they are involved in, lol, but this comic is unreadable!!! The print is ridiculously small!!! I even tried pulling it up on my nice big desktop sceen, and the words are just tiny!!! And I have good vision up close *and* I'm wearing my glasses. This is just poorly designed, I'm giving up!!! And mad about it!!! 😡
The Muppets Noir 1 is a Dynamite Entertainment comic written and drawn by Roger Langridge with colors by Dearbhla Kelly. It was released February 2026.
On a particularly stressful night backstage at the Muppet Studio, Kermit attempts to take a break and unwind by reading a classic mystery novel. But when an accident leaves Kermit unconscious, he begins to live the noir mystery in his head where he is a private eye searching for the missing heir of a pie company.
This book is hilariously amazing. It contains all the usual Muppets hijinks, puns, and unique brand of humor. Even with the goofy humor and story, it still takes itself serious within the Muppet world - this isn’t just some cash grab concept. Langridge does double duty and also does the art which does a fantastic job of capturing the vibes and the noir tones. I am very intrigued to see how this story will all wrap up.
Oof, this one was rough. The title/concept seemed to have potential, but I was really let down by this muddled narrative. I think maybe my hatred of Miss Piggy didn’t help much with my enjoyment of this. Very mishandled premise, in my opinion.
fan of the Muppets show and movies but didn't want to pick this up initially. glad that I did! lots of fun and zany comedy like only the Muppets can deliver
Random comic book store find. How could you not for $4.99?! I haven’t laughed out loud or found this level of joy from a piece of literature in quite some time.
