Sweetie and Boogie had an adorable friendship that grew into more, from kindergarten to middle school. However, there was some strange beef between their fathers that forbade them from being together at all! These two hid their friendship for years, until it all came crashing down. Sweetie was yanked from school and placed under her father's thumb for years; until she had enough.
Fast forward twenty years, the young lovers reunite and Boogie is ready to pick right back up where they left off. But Sweetie was reluctant, as she knew how adamant her father was about her staying away from the DeLuca's. I was happy that they found each other again, as you could feel the genuine love they had for each other. However, things moved so quickly when they reunited that we didn't get to see them build a new relationship as adults. Then the reason that their fathers were beefing made me give everyone the 👀 cause really? All that over that petty ish? 🙄🤯 Okay read.

This was a nice quick and sweet read. Sweetie and Boogie were childhood sweethearts torn apart because of parental beef (a la Romeo & Juliet). 20 years pass and they encounter each other again and it was as if zero time passed. Things moved very quickly in this story & I think I wouldn’t have minded some time jumps or something to show Boogie & Sweetie learning each other as adults. I do appreciate how Boogie didn’t play about Sweetie, wanting to take care of her & make her life easier from day 1. He wouldn’t allow her to get in her head about their relationship, or allow their father’s pasts to affect their future . Man was her father was a piece of work though🙄

Generational Shenanigans!
A parent past should never be a childs future. No child should ever have to suffer from a parent shenanigans. If it’s meant to be, it will come back to you. As an adult, you should have to pick and choice who your heart desires. Never knock a person hustle. Let’s chat!
Darren aka Boogie is a man that knows what his heart wants🥰. Though he may not fully understand at that moment the depth of his family and the Bishop family drama, one thing he does know is that his heart belonged to Sweetie🥹. At a young age what child is really going to understand the dynamics of a decade long drama between families🤔! Just allow me to say that the apart didn’t taunt the love that he had for Sweetie. The way this man intentionally stepped up and went for what he knew was his🥰. When this man reunited with Sweetie, then learned her story, babe he played not a single game. The pressure, affirmation and love that this man presented to her was breath taking. He was ready for whatever was about to happen as he wasn’t coming off her.
Sweetie being the introvert that she is was over the shenanigans of her father😒. Not understanding the dynamic of her family and the DeLuca, she knew that Boogie was her best friend and 1st love🥰. One thing I didn’t agree with is the kids being put in the middle of their father’s drama. The way her father showed his tail had me mad for her😤. With years of her father mess, my girl threw up them deuces. Now I’ll admit I was shocked to learn her current life but I would never knock a person hustle🫣. That hustle is what healed her heart after so many years - Boogie. My girl wasn’t ready but one thing she was ready for was peace and him🤭! This man made sure he gave her exactly that and she loved it.
What I enjoyed about this read was the growth of the kids - Denzel, Boogie, Sweetie & Audra🥰. They were so over the parents. Learning the true reason for the issue is really did it🤨. I was a little irritated with the reason but at same time understood it, if that makes sense but it wasn’t nothing that couldn’t have been communicated. A stubborn person would be the reason for the downfall😔! Oh but when they forced their father’s hands, I was overly excited. Let’s not forget how Sweetie mother Valerie found her voice and let me say I was being proud of her🥹! That backbone looks good on her!
Like always, Cyn did her big one with this read🥰. The way she implemented that love doesn’t have boundaries if it meant. She showed that the next person mess will not stop or interfere with what’s meant to be🥰. One thing Cyn is going to give you is some soft girl type of loving. Now I will admit, I would’ve loved more on them all. I honestly feel there could’ve been more. Just wasn’t enough🤭, that how good this was ME 🥰! Like always can’t wait to see what’s next to come.

Boogie and Sweetie!!
Boogie and Sweetie have been best friends since kindergarten. As they get older, the friendship turns into something more. They could never be open about their feelings due to an ongoing feud between their families. One small mistake causes them to be separated for twenty years. A chance meeting shows that their love for one another has not disappeared. I loved Boogie's determination in his pursuit of Sweetie because he wasn't allowing her to get away again. I couldn't stand Sweetie's daddy. It was totally unnecessary for him to be so mean especially when it came to her Granny. I wanted to cuss him so bad. When I read the reason for the feud, I could hardly believe that Sweetie's daddy was still being so petty. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/second chance book from the very first page. You definitely need to 1 Click for yourself.

THE PERFECT ENDING 🥰
VERNON IRKED MY NERVES FROM START TO ALMOST THE ENDING OF THE BOOK. THAT 🥷 WAS TOO DANG OLD TO BE SO DANG CHILDISH. LIKE WHEN IT WAS FINALLY REVEALED THAT THIS 🥷 HELD A GRUDGE FOR DECADES OVER AN EFFING VEHICLE I WANTED TO REACH THROUGH THIS DANG IPAD AND COME HIS AZZ MYSELF 🙄🤬🤬🤬. ALL THIS YEARS OF BEING A BITTER MITCH IS BEYOND SAD. HIS WIFE FINALLY STANDING UP TO HIM WAS LONG OVER DUE.

Boog and Sweetie were forbidden families against each other due to a stupid argument/ grudge between their fathers.. at young age, they were secret best friends and each others 1st kiss.. once Sweeties father Vernon found out about the Boog and Sweetie heart in the cement at school, he pulled her out of school and forbid them from seeing each other.. 20yrs later, Sweetie left home looking for independence and had become a stripper and Darren aka Boog was out celebrating his sister in law Chloe birthday along with his brother Denzel and saw Sweetie again and they reconnected.. the death of her granny Lucille is what eventually ended the beef, they married and had 1 daughter they named Lucille but called Lucy

Sweet Love!
I fell in love with Big Boog and Sweetie! The chemistry from early on was undeniable. It was no surprise seeing each other years later after being forbidden that anything would be different. Having him back in her life meant she wouldn’t be alone anymore. Boogie was all gas and no breaks behind Sweetie. She was hesitant. He let her know he had her it was no reason to resist him or his love. He was a protector that loved out loud and anyone that stood in the way of what they could become he would handle including family. He made certain that the thing that held them back was null and void and she had peace. 10/10 Cyn does it again.

This story was syrupy sweet. When I tell you boogie and sweetie we're just too cute. A better black romance of Romeo and Juliet and no have to die. The fact that the falling out was over what it was over by their fathers had me wanting to cuss both of them out, Because what all this time that was the problem. Sweetie that was a piece of work and I was happy that her mom finally stood up to his mean ass. The fact that boogie never wanted to let sweetie go and showed up for her tenfold was everything.

This was such a cute story. Sweet to say the least. I have always loved friends to lovers romances, so this was on point.
Boogie was crazy and the complete opposite of Sweetie, so they truly balanced each other out. And after not seeing each other for twenty years, their love was still strong. When I found out what the beef was between the families, I was too tickled.
But all in all, they got their happy ending.

I love each other no matter what. It was easy in the beginning, but in the end, Boogie didn't care.

This was a good palette cleanser. The love the MMC had could be felt from the first page. I also like what the feud between the families was about. The reason for the feud made the story even more adorable. I’d recommend for a nice short read.

This was a short but fulfilling forbidden love story.
Author Cyn has a way of capturing the readers from the beginning and she didn’t disappoint.
