About the author

Dean Rasmussen grew up in a small Minnesota town and began writing stories at the age of ten, driven by his fascination with the Star Wars hero's journey. He continued writing short stories and attempted a few novels through his early twenties until he stopped to focus on his computer animation ambitions. He studied English at a Minnesota college during that time.

He learned the art of computer animation and went on to work on twenty feature films, a television show, and a AAA video game as a visual effects artist over thirteen years. He currently teaches animation for visual effects in Orlando, Florida.

Inspired by his favorite authors, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, and H.P. Lovecraft, Dean began writing novels and short stories again in 2018 to thrill and delight a new generation of horror fans.

When setting out to vanquish a demon, best keep in mind … they don’t respect rules, they don’t play fair, they don’t like to lose … AND, when you irritate them … no one is safe! When Nora receives an unsettling call from Lucy’s school, one thing’s crystal clear … he’s not gone and he’s not done! Dark, and frighteningly brilliant, “The Last Demon”, is solid platinum! The writing is stellar, exquisite perfection! The story flows smoothly, moving seamlessly from scene to scene, keeping the listener completely immersed, feeling with and for the characters. The cohesiveness is perfection, assuring there are no unanswered questions! This, THIS is beautiful escapism at its best and I loved it, I loved it ALL! I’m not giving anything away, so no plot details. Trust me, you want, no NEED to go into this one spoiler free and just experience it ALL! I did and I have no regrets! I do want to mention the stunning narration that gives unbelievably “creepy” authenticity to this masterpiece, truly a shivering WOW! In the final book of The Dark Covenant series, things get so much darker and more evil than Nora, Daniel, Ally and Lucy could ever have anticipated. Almost from the first, things start to get ugly in subtle, and then suddenly not so subtle, ways. Without giving too much away, I can say this, I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book, holding my breath and wondering what awful things were going to befall this poor beleaguered family next and most importantly, how in the world they were ever going to get out from under this latest bombardment of demonic evil. The tension is really ramped up in this third and final entry and it takes an extremely talented author to maintain such a level of suspense for what amounted to pretty much the entire book. The atmosphere of dread, menace and satanic oppression just never lets up. But through it all shines a ray of light in the form of a loving and close-knit family that holds together and emerges stronger and more tightly bound because of the things they've been through. This series is fantastic, each book adding it's own unique story to the whole, and this last one wraps it all up quite nicely. An excellent trilogy.

A a nail biting, thoroughly enjoyable confrontation between a demon demanding payment for a service rendered and a human family trying to avoid their inherited debt. The 'sin' of the previous generation come back to do more than just haunt the medium's family in a taut story that pits human wit and ingenuity against the supernatural. The author manages to convey the turmoil of a family trying to deal with possession while unsuspecting outsiders see them as merely weird and dangerous.

Having enjoyed the previous two books in the series I think this is the best one of the trilogy.

The Last Demon by Dean Rasmussen pulls you right back in from the very start, and I really liked how the opening took time to show what happened before the previous book. It added depth and made everything feel more connected, like pieces finally clicking into place. The story builds with that steady sense of dread Rasmussen does so well, keeping things tense without ever dragging. Then the ending hits with a slight twist that I didn’t fully see coming—and it lands hard. It’s not just surprising, it’s genuinely heartbreaking, leaving a lingering feeling that sticks with you after you finish. Overall, a strong and emotional addition that ties things together while still delivering a punch.

Audiobook: I can't imagine a greater horror than the possibility of one's child being possessed, and this author brought that tale to life with this third book in the series. I was so engrossed in the story that I couldn't pull myself away until I had reached the end. I felt for the characters and their struggles. I was saddened by some of the unexpected twists. I was entertained by Melissa Connell's narration as her performance enhanced the story's impact. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

What a great way to wrap this story up! This family has already endured so much and they are about to endure more than anyone should. Your heart breaks for Lucy and while you are always rooting for all of them, you know deep down this can’t be a totally happy ending. This trilogy was outstanding and I flew through all three because I couldn’t put them down!

Good ending to series.

I enjoyed the 3rd book in this series. It was an interesting way to end! Could there be spin offs??? Possible. Only a tiny complaint and that had to do with the proof reading and editing mistakes. Nothing major just mixing up names in same paragraph that could trip you up and make you go back a couple of sentences to clear up confusion.

Audiobook received through Story Origin to review. Narrated by Melissa Connell, The Last Demon that finishes the Dark Covenant trilogy will leave you breathless in the haunting way this series ends.

Exhausted by the unholy war demonic forces are waging to claim an innocent soul, Nora and Ally along with Father Tony's knowledge believed they finally could have peace and Lucy could just be a normal child.
