Enduring Vendettas #2

Guarded Obsession

I swore to hate him.
He vowed to protect me.
I never meant to fall in love.

Alexis
I hated him on sight—the huge, tattooed mafia soldier and cousin to the man who killed my father.
Nick’s uncle destroyed my family, leaving my mother and me alone in a world with no protection…
Until he’s assigned as my bodyguard.
Living in a safehouse with a grumpy gangster who gets under my skin feels like a fate worse than death.
But as I slowly glimpse the man beneath the gruff exterior, I realize Nick isn’t the villain I imagined.
He has honor.
And when he looks at me with those simmering dark eyes, I feel things I never expected.
I vowed not to fall for my bodyguard—but it’s a promise I’m not sure I can keep.

Nick
Guarding the daughter of my rival was not on my bucket list.
Our first meeting was a disaster, and I’m torn between shutting her pretty mouth—or teaching her just how… pleasurable using those full lips can truly be.
She’s everything I can’t have: brilliant, innocent and far too young for me...
But the more time we spend together, the more I realize she’s not the spoiled princess I assumed.
And when our enemies dare to harm her, I’ll stop at nothing to protect what’s mine—and make them pay for every second of her fear.

If you love an enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity romance with a grumpy hero and a feisty, curvy heroine, you’ll devour Alexis and Nick’s story. Settle in and enjoy the world of the Carusos and Rossis. Content information can be found in the beginning of the book and on the author’s website.

4.5⭐️ 2.5🌶 4.5🎧

The tension between Nick and Alexis was so fun. They had banter and bickering and an underlying sexual tension. I loved that they started out disliking each other to building a slow but steady friendship to lovers. This slow burn was so worth the wait. They needed the time to build their trust and to open up. Once they give in to their desires they are hot together and Nick's care of Alexis was so swoon worthy. They make such a cute and fun couple.

Their story was captivating and flowed seamlessly with book 1 Heated Redemption. You dont have to have read it but it makes the overall story more enjoyable. And I cant wait to listen to book 3. I have loved the easter eggs along the way. I had so much fun with this book.

Please if you can listen to this series on audiobook. Its beautifully done in duet narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. They make this story feel alive. After listening to the first book also read by the same narrators I was a little surprised at how different they came across in this book with yourner main characters. I could feel and hear the difference in their delivery. Great talent by both Kai and Wen. They give the characters great emotion, convey perfect chemistry, perfecty timed banter and playfulness. And dont get me started on the swoon and spice. So good. I adore this narrator pairing.

Thank you to Kaya Sable for this ALC. These are my honest opinions and feelings.

Alexis aka Princess, and Nick were great in this. Both of them started off not liking each other at all. But as time went on things changed. I loved their back and forth and their banter. It was so funny at times. This had some great twists and turns, a bit of suspense, and some great steam. I absolutely loved this one.

Guarded Obsession by Kaya Sable delivers exactly what fans of steamy mafia romance crave, intense enemies to lovers tension, a possessive alpha hero who borders on obsessive, and a strong, curvy heroine who refuses to be anyone’s damsel.

This is the second installment in the Enduring Vendettas series, and we catch up with the Caruso and Rossi family world introduced in Heated Redemption (Book 1). While it works well as a standalone, readers familiar with the first book will appreciate the deeper family vendettas and crossover vibes.

Alexis is still reeling from the violent loss of her father at the hands of a rival mafia figure, none other than a relative of the man now assigned to protect her.
Nick, a towering, tattooed mafia soldier with a gruff exterior and hidden depths of honor, is tasked with guarding her in a remote safehouse. What starts as mutual loathing (she sees him as guilty by blood association, he views her as a spoiled, feisty liability) quickly ignites into something far more dangerous, undeniable, combustible attraction!

Confined together 24/7, every shared meal, heated argument, and reluctant moment of vulnerability strips away their defenses. The safehouse becomes its own pressure cooker, amplifying banter, lingering glances, and the slow erosion of their emotional walls.

For me, Alexis stands out as one of the most relatable and compelling heroines in recent mafia romance. Brilliant, resilient, and unapologetically curvy, she’s dealing with genuine grief and the fear of being left unprotected in a dangerous world. She’s feisty without being annoying, holding her own against Nick’s grumpiness and refusing to back down even when her body betrays her growing feelings.
Her internal conflict, vowing to hate the man tied to her family’s destruction while slowly seeing his protective, honorable core, had me both smiling and wanting to tell her it will be ok.

Nick is the ultimate grumpy, protective hero. Older, experienced, and battle hardened, he’s torn between his duty and the forbidden pull toward a woman he believes is too young and too connected to his world’s enemies. His “touch her and die” protectiveness kicks into overdrive when threats escalate, revealing layers of quiet honor beneath the tattoos and mafia muscle. The way he wrestles with his obsession, wanting to silence her sharp tongue one moment and worship those full lips the next, creates delicious tension. 😜

Their banter is sharp, witty, and flirtatious, evolving naturally from icy barbs to playful teasing and raw emotional confessions. The age gap element adds forbidden spice without feeling over the top, and the “I can’t have her… but I will burn everything to keep her safe” dynamic was deeply satisfying.

The story balances romance and suspense really well. The mafia vendetta provides real stakes, attacks, danger, and the constant shadow of rival families, without overwhelming the central love story. Action scenes are tense and well paced, while quieter moments in the safehouse allow for trust building.

I loved being back in the Caruso/Rossi world, with enough references to Book 1’s events to keep me turning those pages.
Themes of grief, trust, vulnerability, and found safety shine through, giving the book more emotional weight than typical “light” mafia fare.

If you love possessive, dirty talking heroes who go from gruff to reverent with their heroine, Nick will not disappoint.

If you enjoyed Heated Redemption, this one amps up the obsession and steam while delivering another couple you’ll root for fiercely.

Guarded Obsession is a fast paced, addictive delight, equal parts heart pounding danger, laugh out loud banter, and scorching romance.
Alexis and Nick’s journey from sworn enemies to “I’ll protect what’s mine at all costs” is deeply satisfying and I’m eager for more in the Enduring Vendettas world.

Highly recommended for romance readers who want high steam, solid emotional stakes, and that perfect “hate you… now kiss me” payoff.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
🎤 Duet narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Performance: 🎤🎤🎤🎤
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

👀POV: Dual, first person, past tense
📖What to expect: Bodyguard romance, rival mafia families, age gap, forced proximity, curvy FMC, dominant grumpy MMC.

I’ve been so excited to read this book since I met the characters in the previous book! This is an age gap (22F, 35M, if I remember correctly), mafia romance with a timeline that starts in the middle of the previous book so it’s best to read the series in order, especially since the mafia plot flows throughout the 3 book series.

This book centres around Alexis, the daughter of Bianca, and Nick, the much younger cousin of Michael, the MCs from book 1. I’m going to try and keep this spoiler free for book one in case you haven’t read it.

Alexis’s life is under threat and Michael, the mafia don, assigns Nick, his right hand man, as her bodyguard. They grew up in rival mafia families, wired to hate each other, only to be brought together through the events of book 1, and now they’re stuck in a safe house together until the threat is neutralised.

I’ve been drawn to Alexis’s character since the first book. She’s smart (a hacker), confident, determined, and resilient. Even with all that she’s been through, she has a bright, cheery, sassy attitude that I love. At one point I found myself thinking, “if I was friends with her, she’d totally get me to leave the house and do fun stuff.” (I’ve become such a homebody the last couple of years).

When they first meet, Alexis sees Nick as the enemy, and he sees her as a spoiled mafia princess but as they spend time together, their layers get peeled back and they start to bond. I loved the banter between them and the sizzling tension. She’s bossy and impulsive and he’s protective and more grounded. they balance each other out so well. I love how she stood up for herself in the end and got everything she wanted.

I enjoyed this one so much more than the first book. Interestingly, I could relate more to Alexis’s struggles than Bianca’s, despite me being closer to Bianca’s age. I suppose it makes sense because I’m not a mum and have never been married. The mafia plot deepens, giving us more action and twists, and making for a more intriguing story. The romance develops more slowly, giving us more tension and emotional depth.

As with book 1, this was narrated in duet by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross and again, they put on an engaging performance full of emotion. Yhe humorous parts of their performance particularly stood out to me. Kai Kennicott’s versatility shone in this performance as she portrayed 22-year old Alexis as convincingly as she’d portrayed Alexis’ 20+years older mother in the previous book. Side note, if you’ve seen my review of the previous book: they pronounced capo correctly in this one!

This book set up the third and final book really well and I’m excited to see how it goes.

If you enjoy less violent fast-paced Mafia romance with a forbidden element, a smart-mouthed FMC and MMC that will do anything to keep her safe, you should pick this up – after you read the first one.

*I received an advance copy from the author. These thoughts are entirely my own.

I had a feeling when Alexis and Nick were initially introduced in the first installment of this series that I was absolutely going to delight in their story, and I'm happy to report that this second novel did not disappoint in the slightest. What can I say? I'm a sucker for witty banter between lead characters, and these two exchange barbs with the precision of professional fencers. Every conversation crackles with tension. Every insult feels suspiciously close to flirting. Every argument somehow leaves you grinning because you know exactly where this is headed, even if the characters stubbornly refuse to admit it. One of the things I'm enjoying most about this series is how distinct each couple feels. Michael and Bianca's story revolved around second chances and a connection that survived decades of separation. Alexis and Nick are something entirely different. This is enemies-to-lovers territory, albeit with a healthy dose of reluctant attraction simmering beneath the surface from the very beginning. Nick would much rather be helping Michael manage the escalating threats facing them than babysitting the daughter of his former rival. Alexis, meanwhile, has had her entire life turned upside down. Her father is dead, her mother has remarried into the very family she blames for most of this upheaval, and now she's being whisked away to a safehouse with a grumpy mafia soldier who seems determined to get under her skin. In other words, the setup is absolutely delicious.

Guarded Obsession takes everything that worked in Heated Redemption and builds upon it beautifully. The banter is sharper, the romantic tension burns longer, the mafia conflict feels more substantial, and the emotional stakes hit harder. Alexis and Nick are wonderfully matched opponents who gradually become partners, and their journey from reluctant rivals to devoted lovers feels natural every step of the way. The combination of kidnappings, blizzards, safehouses, shared beds, and simmering attraction provides plenty of entertainment, but it's the emotional questions beneath the romance that give the story real substance. Add in the continuing expansion of the mafia world, the growing threats facing Michael's organization, along with a cast of secondary characters that continues to shine, and this sequel proves that Enduring Vendettas is more than just a one-book wonder.

Guarded Obsession is a dynamic and engaging novel that combines intense suspense, witty dialogue, and compelling romance. Alexis and Nick’s progression from adversaries to fiercely protective partners offers a richly satisfying experience. I look forward to exploring more of the Enduring Vendettas series. Alexis mourns her father’s murder by a rival mafia figure who is related to Nick, her protector. Nick, a reserved, honourable mafia operative, is assigned to defend her at a safehouse. Mutual mistrust shifts to attraction through confined, vulnerable moments, softening their defences. Alexis is resilient, confident, and relatable, navigating grief and danger without losing her fire. She challenges Nick’s gruffness and wrestles with her conflicting feelings about him. Nick, hardened yet protective, struggles with his duty and forbidden attraction, adding layered tension. Their witty, flirtatious dialogue evolves naturally, hinting at forbidden passion due to their age gap. The story balances mafia danger with romantic intimacy, featuring tight action scenes and emotional depth amid ongoing vendettas.

Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the Caruso/Rossi universe. If you appreciate possessive, passionate characters who evolve from gruff to reverent toward their heroines, Nick will not disappoint. Fans of Heated Redemption will find this installment elevates the intensity and chemistry, featuring another compelling couple to root for. Guarded Obsession is a fast-paced, addictive read that combines moments of suspense, witty banter, and intense romance. Alexis and Nick’s journey from initial conflict to unwavering protectiveness is both satisfying and engaging, and I look forward to further stories within the Enduring Vendettas series. Highly recommended for romance readers seeking strong emotional stakes and high chemistry.

🚨 Did I sign up for the ALC of Book 2 the SECOND I finished Book 1? Hell yes. 😂

Was it absolutely the right decision?

Without a bloody doubt.

GUARDED OBSESSION by Kaya Sable
🎧 Kai Kennicott & Wen Ross — Duet Narration

This was an absolute belter of a listen. 🎧🔥

After loving Heated Redemption, I was more than ready to jump back into the Caruso/Rossi world, and Kaya Sable absolutely delivered with Alexis and Nick.

And Alexis…

Kaya may have said Alexis isn’t her usual FMC because she’s a little younger, but honestly?

THIS GIRL.

Fierce. Funny. Determined. Brilliant. Curvy. And absolutely unwilling to be intimidated by a huge, tattooed mafia soldier who happens to be assigned as her bodyguard.

I was here for every damn moment of her. 😂

She hates Nick because of what his family has done to hers. Nick would rather be anywhere else than babysitting his enemy’s daughter.

Then they’re forced into a safehouse together.

And we all know where this is going…

Except the best part was watching them get there. 👀

The banter? PERFECTION.

Those frosty little exchanges slowly thawing into teasing, flirting and something neither of them wants to admit?

Inject it straight into my veins.

And Nick…

🥵

Grumpy. Tattooed. Battle-hardened. Protective.

But underneath all that mafia muscle is a man with honour, and watching his walls slowly crumble for Alexis had me absolutely swooning.

Then the touch her and die protective mode kicks in and…

Yep. I’m done.

😂🔥

The story itself hit exactly the right balance for me. We get the mafia danger, family vendettas, grief, kidnappings, threats and suspense, but the romance stays firmly at the heart of it.

And the forced proximity? Safehouse + shared space + simmering attraction + two people stubbornly refusing to acknowledge what is happening?

Chef’s kiss.

But let’s talk about the audio because Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross absolutely NAILED THIS.

Their duet narration brought Alexis and Nick to life brilliantly. The chemistry, banter, emotion and tension all came through, making this such an easy, addictive listen.

And I really love how different each couple feels in this series.

Michael & Bianca gave us second chances, twenty years of longing and our fabulous mature FMC.

Alexis & Nick give us enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, age-gap tension and a grumpy hero whose carefully constructed walls don’t stand a chance against one very determined woman.

And now…

I NEED BOOK 3.

Because apparently I’ve become emotionally invested in the entire Caruso/Rossi family and I have absolutely no intention of stopping now. 😂

Kaya Sable has definitely got me hooked on Enduring Vendettas.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this one!

Alexis and Nick's story seemed promising and OMG, it delivered!!! 😍

Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic, the constant bickering and banter, the forced proximity, and all that delicious tension between them… I expected hot, hot, HOT! 🔥 The slower burn worked really well, especially as they slowly went from distrust and irritation to trust, attraction, and something much deeper… and sharing a secret. 😏

Nick was grumpy (he didn't want to babysit the spoiled princess, he was only doing it for Michael), protective (he'd die protecting her from the men trying to get to her secrets), possessive, and completely determined to keep Alexis safe, even if that meant getting her out of his life. And Alexis was strong, confident, smart (VERY smart), and feisty, definitely not the helpless spoiled heroine he expected her to be. With her hacking and computer skills, she becomes an important part of Michael's organization. And she has a serious love affair with pizza. 😂🍕

The story continues the bigger storyline from the first book, with secrets and betrayals being uncovered, attempts to escape capture, and plenty of danger and action. So I definitely recommend reading the series in order. But the romance is still the heart of the story.

And the narration!!! This is the important part! 😍 I loved Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross in the first book, and I loved them even more here. They are SO good at bringing their characters to life. You're no longer just reading, you’re listening and almost watching Alexis and Nick come alive in front of you. They are definitely becoming one of my favorite narration duos. They brought so much emotion, chemistry, and heat to these characters. I could listen to them narrate just about anything. Literally!! 😍

This is a great series, and the audiobook makes it even better. Definitely recommended! 🖤🔥

Guarded Obsession by Kaya Sable is book two in the Enduring Vendettas series and it delivers exactly the same vibes as book 1, for which I am grateful for. This is a sexy mafia romance with a protective MMC and a strong FMC who refuses to be meek and mild.

We were introduced to Alexis and Nick in book one where they had to go to a safe house as Alexis had information that the new heads of her fathers business wanted their hands on it at any costs.

We follow Alexis and Nick who are confined to a safe house in the middle of nowhere 24/7. Although Alexis shows her feisty side and challenges Nick, after sharing every minute together, their defenses start to slip and thaw, and they start sharing other bits of them that previously were kept hidden.

The banter between the two of them is great, she is so sassy and although it could be perceived as frustrating, Nick genuinely seems to be amused by her and enjoys her quick wit. But it couldn’t stop Nick from feeling that he was too old for her and that she had said right from the start that she wanted out of the Mafia and have a career independent from this lifestyle and Nick was determined to ensure she achieved her dreams no matter what it cost him.

I enjoyed the continued story of suspense and the attempts to eradicate human trafficking and the external threats against the Caruso/Rossi family from rival families.

If you enjoyed Heated Redemption you will love this book too and you will not be able to stop yourself from rooting for them. This ending gives us a cheeky little insight into book 3 and I cannot wait for it.

I am impressed with this series! Kayla Sable picks up right where the last book left off, shifting the focus to a brand-new couple while still keeping everything beautifully interconnected. I love how the two books are woven together—it makes the entire reading experience feel cohesive and engaging. Even better, this installment sets up the next book in the series perfectly, leaving me even more excited for what’s coming next.

This story delivers exactly what I want from a romance: an age gap dynamic, forced proximity, a curvy FMC, and plenty of spice. The romance is steamy but still well-balanced, never overwhelming the emotional depth of the story.

One of my favorite parts was the FMC herself. She’s a cool tech wizard, incredibly smart, and fiercely determined. Once she decides what she wants, she goes after it with confidence and refuses to take no for an answer—and I admire that so much. She’s a strong, refreshing heroine.

The MMC is just as lovable in his own way. He’s sweet, protective, and completely devoted—but only to her. He always wants what’s best for her in every sense, which makes him incredibly easy to fall for.

I also have to mention the duet narration—it brings this book to life in a beautiful way. It adds depth and emotion to the story and makes the listening experience even more immersive.

Overall, Guarded Obsession is a fantastic continuation of the series, full of chemistry, tension, and heart. I can’t wait for the next book!

✨ ALC REVIEW ✨

Whew this book picked up right where Book 1, Heated Redemption left off. Go read it if you haven’t yet!!

Imagine your Capo assigned you to guard and protect his new wife’s daughter. One you presume is just a spoiled mafia princess.

That’s exactly what happened to Nick. Michael assigned him to protect Bianca’s daughter, Alexis because she has valuable encrypted information of her dead mafia father’s “business”. Which puts a huge target on her back.

Nick and Alexis held up in a safe house and essentially having a strong dislike for each other for one reason or another. So, what happens when you’re stuck in a house with a smoking hot 8 years your senior mafia bodyguard? He seems like a mean obnoxious man that gets under your skin, in more ways than one. 😝 What do you do when your duty and honor is being tested by the “cute” feisty princess that you’ve been ordered to protect but you want to “pounce” her at the same time? 🤔

The banter between these two was intense and hilarious. I went from laughing hysterically one moment to gasping at the “tension”. This story was cute, funny, and hot. 🥵 And yes, if you know me and my love for mafia books, I was ready to jump in fight the opposing families that’s trying to go to war with my people. Yes, I did initiate myself into the family! 😜

A huge thank you to the author for kindly providing me with an ALC of Guarded Obsession.

The Caruso boys are officially my downfall. They are smouldering hot, utterly unhinged, and had me giggling, kicking my feet, and outright blushing throughout the entire narration. At this point, I seriously need to reconsider listening to the Enduring Vendettas series on my morning commute to work before I cause a public scene!

Guarded Obsession is a brilliant follow-up to Heated Redemption. Nick and Alexis are absolutely phenomenal together. While I will never truly get over Michael—he will forever reign supreme as the ultimate silver fox crime boss—Nick steps up effortlessly as the perfect dark prince. He’s fierce, brave, and lethal, yet surprisingly tender in the most delicious way. He is the quintessential "take charge and dominate you, but wrap you up and take care of you" hero, and his dynamic with Alexis had me completely gripped.

The audio narration was captivating, the tension was through the roof, and the pacing never let up. I am already desperate for Book 3 to see what absolute chaos Leo and Katia bring to the table—what a wild ride that’s going to be!

I am fully invested in this series. book 1 had me hooked, and book 2 is no different. I Nick and Alexis had me intrigued from the first book, this book did them justice and I was hooked from chapter 1. this is another quick and easy listen and even with this book being shorter, Alexis and Nick had sort of a slower burn. I’m typically a fan of the fast paced insta love, fast burn kind of love but Alexis and Nick burned slower. I enjoyed it all the same. the slow burn made for some amazing tension and lust between the two. Just like book one's ALC, the narrators did amazing bringing this story to life. I was hooked from the beginning, and was left wanting so much more of these two characters! I am ready to search for the bonus scenes of Nick & Alexis.
The overlying story continues in the rest of the series and I am very ready to get my hands on the next one!

Thank you to Kaya Sable for this ALC!

This continues the story from where it left off in the previous book. And I'm going to say that I loved this piece even better than the previous. I feel like the author balanced the dark components with the romance perfectly. I also liked the enemies to lovers concept with forced proximity. The characters were incredible. The plot was on point and the narrative was well crafted. Plus the banter is sharp, witty and at times flirty. Then there's that ending I did not see it coming or going that way. As far as the narration it was perfection. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross deliver a top notch performance. Their voices capture every bit of the tension in the narrative. They really capture all the pieces that make this a dark romance. Absolutely recommend listening to this it does not disappoint at all. I cannot wait for the next part of the story. Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this. All opinions are my own and freely expressed.

ALC Review:
Duet Narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross

Tropes:
Mafia Romance
Enemies to Lovers
Age Gap
Bodyguard MMC
Forced Proximity
Curvy FMC
Forbidden Love

Continuing from Book #1 through Alexis and Nick's points of view, the story places Alexis in hiding with a grumpy, protective mafia soldier. Despite the danger and dark past surrounding his family, Alexis handles herself with impressive resourcefulness—she is definitely no damsel in distress, which earns Nick's respect fast.

Kai Kennicott captures Alexis's quick intellect, feisty attitude, and inner strength flawlessly, while Wen Ross brings Nick to life with a deep, commandingly dark tone that perfectly suits a grumpy, possessive bodyguard. Their back-and-forth captures the intense edge and simmering connection between the lead characters effortlessly.

I didn’t think it was possible for me to adore a couple more than I did Bianca and Michael in book one, but Nick and Alexis set this book on fire! I love feisty heroines who take no buck from the hero and Alexis may have had to accept that grumpy Nick was assigned as her bodyguard, but she didn’t have to like it. Author Kaya Sable always writes really smart heroines, and I love that, and Alexis is a brilliant hacker and this is why she’s being targeted. She also has a smart mouth, which is fun. I loved the age gap. I loved the forced proximity (who doesn’t love a good blizzard, y’all!) And when these two finally get together, whew, fanning myself with my kindle here. This series is a delight and I can’t wait for the couple in book 3! 5/5 stars.

Guarded Obsession is a dark enemies to lovers, forced proximity mafia romance. Alexis has crucial information about her father’s trafficking network. She needs to go into hiding until the situation between Michael and her father’s crew is resolved. Nick is assigned to guard her at a safe house. What happens? Sit back, relax and get ready for a wild ride.
The duet performance by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross was phenomenal. Kai Kennicott was marvellous as sweet, curvy, brilliant, sassy, stubborn Alexis. I could feel her uncertainty, vulnerability, pain, intelligence, sass, strength and love through her voice. When Ross was spectacular as grumpy, growly, possessive Nick. His love and care for Alexis was evident in his voice and actions. His gruff, sexy tone was delightful. These two talented voice actors brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.
Thanks to Kaya Sable for this ALC.

🎧 Steamy Mafia romance done right 😍 Kaya sure knows how to write them

Book 2 in the Enduring Vendetta Series brings us Alexis, who's father has just been killed by the man who just married her mother and has sent her into hiding with his heir and right hand man Nick, older, sexy, tatooed, grumpy, gorgeous Nick 🥵

They are confined together 24/7 and Alexis is no shrinking violet, she might be a virgin but she's smart, unapologetically curvy, funny and loves driving Nick crazy

The yearning, chemistry and banter are top shelf, the spice is spicy and the ending is perfect and leads us straight into book 3 and I can't wait

The narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross is perfect 🖤

Thank you Kaya for the fantastic ALC opportunity 💕

Alexis is one stubborn woman just like her mama, and Nick is in for a fight he will never win. I loved the book, the banter the action and suspense kept me hooked. I could not put this down. Alexis I freaking love. She knew what she wanted and she made sure she got it. Her personality in this book is great. Nick that pour man he was not ready for Alexis and her stubbornness but boy did he have it bad. I wanted to smack him for saying he was old. Boy we are thriving in our 30s we are not old sweety lol. Now I’m patiently waiting for the next book. I wanna see if the bad guys succeed or fail. Make sure to read the trigger warnings.

Guarded Obsession, book two in the Enduring Vendetta’s series follows the story of Bianca’s daughter, Alexis Rossi and Michael’s nephew, Nick Caruso. During the events of book one, Alexis and Nick go into hiding with Nick vowing to protect her. Their chemistry slowly grows, igniting into something that neither are prepared for, especially since Alexis doesn’t want to live a mafia life. The longer they spend together, the more they realize that their attraction is quickly turning into so much more, and neither one is ready for things to end when they go back to their real lives outside of the safe house.

Book 2 of the Enduring Vendettas series. Can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.

'And when our enemies dare to harm her, I’ll stop at nothing to protect what’s mine—and make them pay for every second of her fear.'

The characters were very complex and compelling and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend!

I received this book as an ARC and the following review is my honest opinion:

AHHHHHHH I LOVE NICK and ALEXIS! Just like her mom Alexis does not play around and knows exactly what she wants. In a world where most books have FMCs who are more subservient to men these women DO NOT come to play. I love how Nick is also just a hardcore simp. He doesn't have the annoying macho attitude where he has to be in control, he knows Alexis is going to do what she wants and he's gonna enjoy the ride.

Another super fun read and of course, always want more at the end. I can't wait for Leo & Katya's story!

This is the second book in the Enduring Vendettas series, a mafia romance. Alexis and Nick’s slow-burn romance is entertaining, passionate, and engaging, filled with danger, action, and twists and turns. Nick is handsome, possessive, and protective, while Alexis is beautiful, smart, strong, and independent. They complement each other perfectly. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross deliver an excellent narration, bringing these characters and their story to life. I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series, to know what happens next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

“Guarded Obsession” is the second book in the “Enduring Vendettas” series by Kaya Sable. The audiobook is narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. This is Nick and Alexis’ story, it picks up right after “Heated Redemption”, after Michael decided to send Alexis away with Nick as her protector.

I enjoyed the “dislike to lovers’ aspect, and how they learned to trust each other in dangerous situations. The cabin…the forced proximity was so delicious! Listening to this story in audiobook really made me giddy. The narrators were perfection. Alexis was such a strong and confident female, and her love for Nick was too cute for words. Another great book in the “Enduring Vendettas” series.

Yes, I knew Alexis was going to be a bra in the best way. She challenges Nick to consider alternative options, she understands his rigidity, and encourages him to see her as a partner, and not a precious doll. Alexis learns that plans are the quickest way to set yourself up for failure. She also learns to take responsibility for how her actions impact others head on. Their story is worth reading, I liked them individually, and as a couple. The love between Michael and Nick was perfectly described and enhanced the reading experience.

I could not wait to start this book after the ending of book 1! And it did not disappoint!!

Nick is given the task of being Alexis's bodyguard in a safe house and there is tension from day one. Sparks fly and they start to get on each other's nerves. That tension turns from sparks to flames and I loved to read allllll about it! 🔥 These two have been through so much to get their HEA and I loved the whole ride! I'm glad Alexis stood her ground.

Another great addition to the series, I loved it, highly recommend!

Bianca Santoro is now married to Michael Caruso, the head of Caruso family who killed her husband to save her as well as to take over the Rossi mafia. Bianca's daughter, Alexis, is in danger since she used her hacking skills to encrypt and steal the Rossi information. Now she's in danger and needs to go into hiding until the danger has passed. Michael's second in command is the only man he trusts for the job, so Nick is tasked with keeping her safe but he's conflicted. Even if they're attracted to each other, the age difference keeps Nick from pursuing her, but Alexis is even more determined to get what she wants. I really enjoyed their story and how they went toe-to-toe and they both got what they gave.
The narration is wonderfully done by Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott. They did a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for the story and captured the characters emotions and projected them into the performance. They are excellent storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

🌶️🌶️1/4 - slightly more than medium spice, quite a few explicit scenes
1st person, dual POV

The duet narration was excellent. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross embodied the characters.

This was one of those books that didn’t knock my socks off, but was also decent. There was enough action that I stayed engaged, but there was also some predictability. It was cute, though the language was over the top at times and crossed into cheesy territory.

It was easily digestible and kept me entertained for a little while—I’d recommend if that’s what you’re looking for!
