Drags a bit, but not a terrible version. It has great potential.
The worst part? The grammar. I'm not talking spelling, as the author pushes in her beginning message, but the punctuation mishaps, the tense changes, and the inconsistencies. For example, a servant by the name Bellan becomes Ballan at one point. He and she get mixed up frequently. Sentences have missing words and added words("The weight of my that truth threatened..."). Also, there is a common misuse of semicolons. And there are many extra spaces, or missing spaces between periods and the next sentence. Sometimes, there are no periods at all. Dialogue is often missing punctuation marks, or they are in the wrong spot. It's a jarring halt that disturbs the flow of the book.
With a bit of an edit, this could easily be a four star book.
For my clean readers: language-some, but no f-bombs. Violence-fighting, kidnapping, attempted murder, murder, graphic details of violence, rape attempts, though nothing actually happens, and physical abuse. Romance-kissing, some sexual content that can be skipped over that isn't graphic. Still, it's not something I would recommend for teens.
“Something, or surely someone, was in the room with me for monsters do not drink tea.”
Beasts, translating scripts and generation-old curses are only some of the aspects in this book that not only made it stand out to me but also had me completely hooked! I absolutely loved reading this book and I am so excited for you guys to finally have it- I am waiting for the next one. The quote above is one of my favourite lines from this book, coupled with the yearning and tension, I highly recommend this book if you love romantic suspense like I do.
I am so grateful to have received this book from the Author and I cannot wait to follow her journey!
I love a good fairy tale retelling and I enjoyed the additional fantasy twist here. I do have a LOT of unanswered questions though so I definitely need a second book.
Nice take on a Beauty & the Beast retelling, was hoping for a better ending. Maybe was looking for too much of the original with the happy ending at the end (this was happy) but was looking for more
