Dissapointing

Basically everyone gets so OP that all superlatives are used to describe all battles and then endless victory laps. No character development or growth, just smug winners. Not the ending book I hoped for.

I read this on Royal Road and it's sadly a disappointment. The author's dogged insistence on a happy ending retroactively robs the story of any stakes and the sacrifices of any meaning. You feel dumb for getting emotionally invested because any time any character of note ever has to give up anything it gets undone or prevented. These tendencies have been here throughout the story, but it's in the climax that they become so egregious and impossible to ignore. If there was a time to make a sacrifice count, this is it. And Clarke is unable to overcome his worst instincts and simply can't. He does an admirable fakeout for a bit, but then he undoes it and my heart just sank. The story as a whole is good, but the by the end it all just feels hollow.

Amazing series

I have read all the books and i love it soo much. I used to think that litRPG books where really boring, and every time i tried to read a book like that, i just give up and move onto another book after a while because the litRPG part drags on for too long. But honestly, this book is the polar opposite of that, and personally, i feel like it has the perfect balance between a litRPG book and being an actually enjoyable book. Highly recommend to anyone whos a fan of Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, etc. And just to add onto this review, J. M Clarke and C.J Thompson are highly underrated writers.

an excellent end to a fantastic read

So, I’ll say up front that they truly throw the RPG into each book. This one is no exception. The battles are titanic; as befits the end of a long campaign; the characters have all been through the fires and come out forged stronger and more OP (that’s a thing…read the books). All told, they hit every single mark on the way to the end. Loose ends? Nope. Satisfying finish? Yep. Am I said that the story is done? Not really. I suspect that much like a really good RPG, this series has a lot of re-readability. Well done you two!

I'm glad I finished the series. The grand revelations at the end were actually really grand. I love a good mystery where the ending turns everything on it's head and opens new worlds--this delivered that. The fight scenes were still way too long and I found myself skipping pages to get to the end of the fight. But there was a lot more plot in this one that the last two and I liked where it all ended.

Still smiling

What a wonderful end to a great saga! I laughed, cried and cheered. Though all issues weren't completely resolved, you could help but be satisfied knowing Hiral and crew has the situation well in hand. These two writers are now my absolute favorite. I will devour anything they create without hesitation. This was an EXCELLENT read.

Had a bit of a gap between books so struggled with this one. The fight scenes were all really tedious and there's so much plot armour it's hard to care about the stakes.

Some forgettable characters get lost but it's just eh. The writing is quite juvenile and you forget about it when you're not binging them

Highly recommend

Excellent series for fans of LitRPG. Interesting characters that stay interesting as they develop. Good world building and progression system. Individual books are full of content but not too burdensome.
