Chasing his dream of becoming a country music star, cowboy Jase Smith takes a job with a singing telegram company to make ends meet. He's hired to deliver a breakup tune to a woman on Valentine's Day, and meets music exec Leigh Anderson. Could she be the one he's meant to make sweet music with?

A Jill of many trades, NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Becky McGraw has been an optician, a beautician, a legal secretary, a real estate broker, web designer, graphic artist, and romance writer. She knows just enough to make her dangerous, and her humor-laced contemporary western cowboy, and military, police procedural romantic suspense novels varied and interesting. Becky resides in Florida with her husband of thirty-three years and her dog Abby. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America Published Authors Network.
Leigh is working hard to prove herself to her father at his record publishing company. When her latest attempt at the next great country star falls through she’s lost as to how to overcome the problem and make things right with her father again. Fortunately, help comes in the form of a cowboy dressed as a country cupid and singing a telegram. It doesn’t take any time for Leigh to know he’s got the talent, he just needs a better demo. So, emptying out her savings she takes the plunge and the chance on an unknown singer who she doesn’t even have a contract with.
Jase’s life is full of responsibilities. He works three jobs and lives at home to help care for his mother. However, his true dream is singing and hopefully one day being able to let go of all the other jobs and focus only on that. When he realizes the opportunity Leigh is offering him, he suspects she has ulterior motives but he takes the chance with her.
This was a bit rocky of a romance with Jase growing angry and cutting Leigh out of his life for a bit. She doesn’t take no for an answer and pursues things for his best interest. I liked that she didn’t give up on him, I would’ve liked it more had he been more driven to claim and keep her as his own as well.
The steam, when given is off the charts – can you say dirty talker, but isn’t prevalent throughout the story. Angst is about medium range with no ow drama although there is a bit of om drama. Overall, it was a nice fast story that I found enjoyable.
This is my honest and willing review of an advanced reader copy provided by the author.
Leigh has had about enough of the misogynistic jerk posing as talent she’s supposed to be signing for her record label but spends all her time babysitting and fending off his advances. To add insult to injury, he “breaks up" with her by sending her a singing telegram in the form of Cupid's Cowboy, Jase Sutter. But Jase’s voice may be just the ticket she needs to hang on to her job after her giant misstep with the misogynistic jerk.
The comp copy I read of this book was my first in the Cowboy Way series and I loved it. Both of the main characters were easy to like and quickly drew me into their story. I loved the uniqueness of their first meeting and was immediately invested in finding out what happens next. The story moved along quickly, practically reading itself, and I definitely recommend this book for a fun, entertaining read!
A steamy romance featuring a cowboy stud that had my mouth watering and my knees knocking together. I don't read a lot of romances with cowboys but Becky McGraw writes them perfectly and actually makes me crave more. This is a novella so its shorter than a novel but its HOT, Fun, and a great read! I recommend this as a MUST read!
A fabulous country style treasure by Becky McGraw. Becky gifts readers a story about what it takes to take risks and gamble everything you have to achieve your dreams. While this book was about making it as a country music star and the inherent pitfalls, hard work, that goes into making dreams happen. this book could perfectly reflect and mirror anyone’s life at any given moment, when they are passionate about the creative dreams they want to pursue.
Leigh - despite her trust issues, and go hard attitude, she is down to earth, a hard worker who strives and expects the best from those she finds have musical talent in a cut throat industry. Jase - be still my heart. Even when being stubborn, he is someone you want in your corner. Hard working no matter the jobs he takes on to make a living, while helping his parents, loyal - all round wonderful soul
Becky shows that if you have dreams - it takes hard work, dedication, its constant honing of skills and learning to perfect your passion in life and love. Then there are the minefields to navigate. The people who’s intentions aren’t stellar. They cheat others, they copy just to go the easy way in life.
Rarely, is life, love, and work easy. it’s those that work hard that will accomplish their planned goals but more importantly they will value them more for the effort they strive for.
This is a beautiful journey to love. It was moments of doubt, angst, stumbling, lack of trust, yet attraction always remained steadfast. Add touches of Valentine’s Day humour and this is a quick page-turning book to devour. If you love Valentine’s Day, cowboys, soulful country music and have no plans for the weekend - then sit back, relax and be absorbed in Jase and Leigh’s story.
Not for the first time in recent weeks I picked up a book not fully realising that it was further into a series that I hadn't looked at yet.... but, as usual, that didn't affect my thought on the story.
Cupid's Cowboy was a fairly quick read that I was really looking forward to from the blurb but I was kinda disappointed that it didn't quite live up to what I was expecting....
Don't get me wrong, in the main it was a decent read but I just didn't fully feel the connection between Jase and Leigh apart from the initial spark that was obvious and then again the first time they actual came together (pun intended!!) although things did pick up in the latter part of the story.
They spent so much time apart, with no communication - Leigh dithering about what she should do career wise, whether she wanted a relationship with the sexy singing cowboy all while working on things for her new signing but not keeping in touch and Jase feeling sorry for himself, let down and about to give up on his long term dream - I wanted him to be stronger in his belief of himself!! When they were back in contact suddenly it seemed like all was right with the world and their issues were forgotten but I really liked how things turned out for them and the epilogue was fun.
For me, this was a 3.9* but for longstanding readers of Becky McGraw I'm sure it will be a hit!

I received a copy of the book for an honest review
CUPID'S COWBOY is a short novella style read and book four in the Cowboy Way series. This is actually my first read from author Becky McGraw!
Jase is a country singing cowboy, working three jobs to make ends meet before his big break. Leigh is a music executive looking for her next superstar in order to show her father that she's good enough to work for him. When they meet, it's LUST at first sight!
The book is written pretty well. It's sexy and sweet but also fast paced. I adored the first half of the story and the direction it was going in. It had a few fun moments, a few sexy scenes and I liked both Jase and Leigh well enough. Unfortunately, by the middle of the story, I was pretty frustrated with Leigh's indecisiveness. And Jase lost his appeal with some of the jackass moves that seemed to contradict his initial charming impression for me!
Even though I didn't love this particular story, I DID like the author's overall style and brand of writing. I wouldn't mind reading more of Ms. McGraw's work and perhaps finding a book that I'll enjoy more! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I was asked by the author for an honest review. I would have liked to give Cupid's Cowboy 3.5 stars.
This is the only book I've read in the Cowboy Way series and you definitely don't need to have read any others to enjoy this one. I suspect that there aren't even spoilers in it for the rest of the series, though I don't know for sure without reading others. This book's characters aren't surrounded by happily married couples (like most books in an established series), so my guess is that the main characters are either independent from the series or a prequel because there were a couple characters that seemed like they might have their own stories in the future.
Cupid's Cowboy had one intimate scene that was rougher than I expected, almost punishing/cruel. The story was a decent length for a novella, though it still had a little bit of the abbreviated-ness that you get with short stories. There was an abrupt relationship turn toward the end (which I expect from a novella), but overall I liked the story.
Cupid’s Cowboy is a novella. It is short, it is fun, and it is sexy. I was able to read it in an afternoon and love that it was that easy of a read.
That being said Jase Smith is a whiny singer. He has talent but dang he doesn’t trust that anyone is doing right by him. He tests every person and drove me nuts. I loved the idea of this story but OH MY GOSH… how much does a person have to do to prove that they have your best interests on heart. I wanted more steam, more sexy scenes, and more alpha maleness. The one thing I did love is how he pushed Leigh to get away from her current job and branch out on her own. She needed that push.
I looked… Cupid’s Cowboy got many 5 star reviews so I truly believe many readers will love this story and these characters for me it just didn’t have what I was looking for. I will give it 3 stars with the thought that I did read the entire novella and enjoyed it.
Just nope. 2.5 is what I’d rate this compared to the other books in the series. It felt rushed, unconnected, and honestly a little disturbing. Sure the first love scene had a darker harder male lead feel like the first book in the series, but this took it a little farther with no real connection on the parts of the leads. The biggest problem I had (spoiler) was when he had his hand around her throat when he was angry and didn’t apologize. She was frightened enough to cry, but ok not to get an apology from an acquaintance/potential client/one time lover? Just nope, knee to the balls, contract ended, maybe a filing of a report. Punching a wall in anger is one thing, but having your hand around a women’s neck isn’t sexy or ok, it’s a dang red flag. Uhhhh.... so that’s a rant, but I like her writing style so that’s why a 2.5. Hopefully the rest in the series won’t follow along this line.
Cupid's Cowboy by Becky McGraw is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. McGraw has once again delivered a well-written book. The characters are fantastic, I totally love them. Leigh is not a fan of Valentine's Day. Hot cowboy Jase delivering a singing breakup telegram with a dozen black roses while wearing his tighty-whiteys doesn't help. Or does it? Leigh and Jase's story has plenty of drama, humor, action and sizzle to keep readers glued to their e-readers. I loved reading Cupid's Cowboy and look forward to reading more Becky McGraw books in the future. Cupid's Cowboy is book 4 of the Cowboy Way Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Valentine's Day is getting worse by the minute for Leigh and her father/boss doesn't even know that she hasn't signed Wade. Finally home and trying to relax she is somewhat startled by the doorbell.
She comes face to face with the delivery of a singing telegram. A kiss off from Wade. The ex from hell and the reason she's in the mood she's already in.
Now the attraction is instantaneous between Jase and Leigh, but there is also some things that are totally misunderstood.
Jase and Leigh have a long way to go both professionally and personally.
There are lots of sweet moments and then there are the things dealing with the music industry that just complicate the hell out of everything.
This was book four in The Cowboy's Way and features Jace and Leigh. He's juggling several jobs trying to make ends meet and take care of his ailing mother. He's a cowboy, a waiter and a singing naked cowboy. His dream is making it big as a singer and his break comes when he delivers a 'breakup' jingle to Leigh who is the daughter of a recording studio. Their attraction is immediate and their chemistry explosive. Their relationship is quite the journey with a roller coaster of emotions and rocky roads. Eventually an HEA. This was a sweet romance with a hunk of a cowboy. I read an advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I love this book. This novella is part of the Cowboy Way series, In Cupid's Cowboy, Jase wants to be a country music star, and he doesn't mind the hard work it will take to get him there. He has all kinds of jobs, will do anything to make a buck, because his mom is sick and he will do whatever it takes to keep her home where she belongs and provide her with the care that she needs. One of his jobs is with a singing telegram company, and he gets to sing a break-up telegram to Leigh Anderson music executive who can help him make his carer. This is great, read about two people that have some trust issues but are willing to give it a chance in the end.
Cute story. It was fast paced but done really well. It was a great little Valentine’s Day read book. I really liked that Jase was sticking to his dreams, despite his age, and still trying to make it all work out. He was very real in that he was realistically still scraping by in life. He wasn’t someone who came from money, etc but he was trying to make his dreams come true and still take care of his family. Leigh was a bit harder to connect to but that was mainly due to not really understanding her situation family wise. Overall, it was a cute, good, quick read. I reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 Stars This is book 4 in the Cowboy Way series and it features Leigh and Jase . I love the story line but I did not fall in love with the characters. The story line felt like it was on fast-forward the whole time. Jase was great except when he got mad at Leigh. His temper was a little out of control and I thought, just for a minute, that maybe he was going to be too rough with her. I also did not like the awful way Leo treated Leigh. He was supposed to be her father but evidently he didn’t know how to do that. Even Bobby was a little scandalous leaving the mic on. This was a super fast paced cowboy romance with a fabulous epilogue that had steam rising from my e-reader.
Leigh is a music executive who works for her father’s record company. She has been trying to woo a singer to sign with her label. She never expected to open her door on Valentine’s Day to a signing telegram advising her that they are breaking up.
Jase dreams of being a singer but in the meantime he works three jobs so that he can look after his mother. The last place he wants to be is at this woman’s door singing the breakup message to her.
When Leigh hears him sing she believes in his talent but will they be able to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way so that can achieve their dreams together? I voluntarily reviewed a Complimentary Copy of this book.
Really Enjoyable! This is a really quick, fun read! Jase is a good country boy looking for his big break in the music industry. Meanwhile working any job he can to pay the bills. Leigh is the daughter and employee of a music promoter and looking for the next superstar country singer. Jase is hired by Leigh's fake boyfriend to deliver a singing telegram to breakup with Leigh on Valentine's day. And then let the fun begin!! I loved Jase's sweet country boy personality and I was really glad he got Leigh to finally stand up for herself!
Cupid’s Cowboy is an engaging story with an interesting storyline, fun dialogue and down to earth characters. Leigh and Jase are easily to connect with and you cannot help being drawn to them both. Each are fighting an uphill battle, trying to prove themselves and fulfill their hopes and dreams of better lives for themselves and in Jase’s case, for his family too. This book definitely pulls at the heart strings and you jump on an emotional rollercoaster ride as you follow Leigh and Jase’s journey for happiness and success. *I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
Cupid's Cowboy is a entertaining and enjoyable novella. A cute storyline about a cowboy, Valentine's Day, a music producer and a breakup singing telegram. Plenty of humor and sweetness add lots of charm to this well written read. Jase and Leigh are an awesome couple. Their attraction is off the charts and their chemistry sizzles. Leigh though, is a self proclaimed Valentine Grinch. Can Jase thaw her heart or will their romance go down in flames? Read this charming read to find out. I'm posting an honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.
What a great quick read this book was! Follow the story of Jase as he sings a life changing telegram to someone in the music business, who could help his career take off, but can he trust anyone in this business? Leigh is the daughter of a big record producer, but when she can't sign a big client, things go off the wall for this girl! When she meet's Jase and hear's his rough cut of his special song, she know's this is the ticket to redeem herself to her father, if she can just get Jase to trust her. 5 stars, grab this one quick!
Purchased this book as part of the Cowboy12 pack box set back in 2015 and reviewed. This is another great book by Becky McGraw and part of her Cowboy Way series.
This story is about Jase Smith who is chasing his dream to become a country music star and Leigh Anderson a music executive looking for the next big country star...meet when he comes to sing her a breakup singing telegram. Can these two form a partnership to make both their dreams come true??
Sweet, a little sad, sexy and steamy. You can count on Becky McGraw to not only bring a good story, but also bring the heat!
Leigh helps Jase navigate through some of the ugliness of the entertainment industry and learns some things herself in the process. A pretty quick, entertaining read that was very enjoyable. Especially when some people got their just desserts.
This was a great read. It was the first book that I've read in this series, but I will be reading the others. I liked Leigh's determination to make things happen and was glad that she started her own company. Jase was the perfect cowboy and a gentleman. The journey to their happily ever after was a little rocky but they made it.
I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a sweet reminder that one should never give up in ones dream no matter what. Be it music, movies or being an Author, it illustrated what one can accomplish when one reaches for ones dreams. Jase Smith was chasing his dream when he took on a job singing telegrams, when he is hired to deliver a brake up tune to Leigh Anderson on Valentine's day, he also discovers that she can and will hopefully make his dreams come true
Hot, fun, emotional and with twists that you do not expect. Great characters that are likeable and relatable. Very well written captivating story with great storyline and plot.
I like to know what happens next, so the epilogue was very welcomed and well written.
Filled with passion, love, romance, sexy cowboys, betrayal, emotional ups and downs and twists and turns. A lesson about always going for your dreams.
A brilliant read from Becky. Wow Jase and Leigh first meeting was amazing I new I would love this story and I did even the hard and filthy talk of Jase lol Leigh had a unloving upbringing especially from her father Leo (didn’t like him) compared to Jase's church going loving family and I’m glad she got to see what love really is about. I even liked Bobby and his harsh ways too. Can’t wait to read more from this series.
Cupid's Cowboy by Becky McGraw is a light-hearted story about a singing cowboy who wants to become a country music star and a gal who wants to help him get there. This charming book is a delight to read. So read and enjoy.
I received this advanced copy and I am freely posting this fair and balanced review.
He wants a country music career. But thinking it will help starts out as a singing telegraph singer. What a valentine's day for her. He comes over and sings a break-up to her from someone. He feels so bad he wants to make her feel better. She is a music executive. Can she help him and still have a relationship with him? I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Jace is a struggling singer and Leigh works for a record label. She wants to sign him to save her job. He went from liking her to not to calling her babe in seconds and it changed several times. She went from not believing in love to loving him in an instant. I was going to give it 3 stars but the epilogue saved it.
What an absolutely adorable and heart warming story. Jase is the perfect hero and Leigh a super strong and determined heroine! The way they interact and their journey in Jase's quest for success is a pleasure to read. I just loved it.
