It's all part of the marketing game—fake hate—unless she falls for her ex again . . .
Hailey Moreno has many regrets about letting her family down since her father's death. But breaking up with her secret boyfriend years ago after his father underhandedly tried to buy her family's hot-air balloon business isn't one. The Selene family is her enemy until she's charged with creating a Central Oregon hot-air balloon festival. Now she needs her ex's cooperation and perhaps more.
Ryland Selene always had it bad for Hailey. She's the one who got away. When she reaches out with an opportunity, Ryland knows he should be cautious but he jumps in, determined to win a second chance with Hailey.
When Ryland proposes planning the festival together, Hailey's reluctant. Then she hits on what sounds like a fun scheme. Create a fake family feud for social media buzz. Too bad Ryland can't follow a script . . . and neither can her heart. But all the pretend drama allows them to be vulnerable and connect in a way they didn't before. Can faux hate turn to real love?
Janine Amesta has loved reading kissing stories most of her life. She currently resides in Oregon with her husband and their pets, Hitchcock and Pippin. She studied screenwriting in college, but her banter is influenced by the screwball romantic comedies of the 1930's. She's always on the lookout for the perfect line.
This was an ARC from the author. My opinions are my own.
Hailey Moreno thought it was quite exciting to be secretly dating the son of her family's company's chief rival, but once her father died, and said rival (with the help of his son) tried to offer to buy the Moreno's air balloon business, she felt deeply betrayed and told Ryland Selene to take a hike.
Four years later, she still hasn't told her mother or any of her sisters that she used to date Ryland, and had her heart pretty thorougly broken by him. Hailey is the youngest of the Moreno sisters, and had a wild temper and a tendency to stir up drama when she was younger. She loved to make videos on her social media feed, but at 26, she's growing up and wondering about her future. As the only unmarried daughter, she is the one who still lives with their widowed mother, and does her best to make her anxious mother socialise more. It seems as if her mother expects her to just stay unmarried and living in her childhood home forever, and Hailey is beginning to feel trapped.
Having clashed a lot with her older sister Selah in the past, and now really wants to contribute to the company in a way that will earn her sister's approval. She suggests arranging a hot air balloon festival in Central Oregon, and unfortunately, since theirs is not the only hot air balloon company in the state, her sister insists that she extend an olive branch to their main competitors. Which means talking to her ex again.
Ryland "Ry" Selene has never gotten over Hailey Moreno, and felt so guilty about making her life more difficult in the weeks after her father's death, that he reevaluated his own life to the point where he quit his dad's company, got himself a business degree, and is now working for a local brewery. He tries to tell himself that he doesn't miss piloting hot air balloons, but deep down, he very much does. The fact that one of his closest co-workers at his new job is his former high school bully is not improving his life. So when he discovers that Hailey e-mailed his dad about this air balloon festival, he takes it as an opportunity to see her again.
Soon Hailey has convinced him that to drum up promotion for the event, which they only have a few months to plan, they should have a fake hating relationship on social media. They should play up the rivalry between their families and their companies, and pretend to be fighting in a series of videos, planned out by Hailey. Because Ry pretty much wants any excuse to spend more time with Hailey again, he reluctantly agrees, encouraged by his roommate, who thinks having staged fights with his ex-girlfriend might help Ry get more assertive and likely to stand up for himself against the office bully.
Of course, making the videos bring Hailey and Ry into contact with one another a lot, and spending time bickering on camera makes it obvious that their previous chemistry isn't just still present, it may actually be even more incindiary than before. It doesn't take all that long before they may be fighting on camera, but kissing as soon as the videos are done. But Ry didn't really like the idea of their relationship being secret four years ago. He's even less thrilled about the idea now, when he finally has a chance to win Hailey back.
This is the third and final novel in Janine Amesta's Love is in the Air<(i> trilogy, about the Moreno sisters finding their happy endings and saving their family business after the sudden and unexpected death of their father. In Love at First Flight, Hailey was the bratty younger sister who got her sister's relationship in trouble by gossiping too much on social media. As the youngest sister, Hailey was still in a very emotionally unstable place when their father died, and some of her actions in the aftermath, when trying to cope with her grief, led to her making some questionable decisions. Hailey and Selah do talk it out and reach a better understanding of each other, but even several years later, Hailey still feels like the black sheep, who's not as talented and useful as her sisters.
Ryland is a rather shy and very non-confrontational guy. One of the rare occasions when he pushed himself to be brave was when he first saw Hailey and made himself go over and talk to her, even though he was convinced he'd be firmly rejected. He feels a lot of guilt about how much he hurt Hailey shortly after her father's death, to the point where he convinced himself he needed to change his whole life and future plans. Reconnecting with Hailey confirms to him that he's not over her, and even though he thinks her social media fake feud is ridiculous, he just can't help saying yes to her, because he loves her special brand of crazy.
I feel very lucky that I've gotten to read this entire series as ARCs, and once again extend my thanks to Janine Amesta for the reading copy. This book releases today, and in these depressing times, a contemporary romance that focuses on family, personal growth and a sweet second chance romance is a balm for the senses.
Judging a book by its cover: I think this may be my favourite of all the covers in this series. I really like the lit balloon, and Hailey reaching down towards Ryland. Even though this isn't a scene that actually appears in the book, the vibes feel right, and the Romeo and Juliet reference is pretty obvious.
The last sister in the Moreno ballooning family gets her book! And undergoes a MUCH NEEDED character arc for the ages. Listen, if you threw this book across the room at her shenanigans and immaturity, I would certainly not blame you one bit. Hailey at (a very young) 22 took her interpretation of a mild family feud with another ballooning company that was basically at the "we're in the same business but not in direct competition" level and exaggerated it in her head to the point that she is convinced that she needs to secretly date the scion of the other family, and is living her own little Romeo and Juliet story. She is not. And anyway it all blows up when Ryland calls on his father's behalf after her father's death to offer to buy the company? a balloon? (I never figured it out) and the offer is taken as a hostile takeover on a grieving family.
Cut to four years later. Hailey and Ryland broke up over the offer, and she continues to fan the flames of the Big Feud (no one else in her family does). Their breakup had my very least favorite kind of miscommunication, and it made me have such a negative bias about Hailey. The person she was in a relationship with FOR A YEAR clumsily expressed the family offer to help, and she takes the worst possible meaning, then refuses to listen to any of the offered clarifying statements or explanations, and completely blocks all contact with him. Like he's immediately "I think I didn't state myself well, let me explain" and she's immediately "Obviously this meant nothing to him, banished!" Come the [fork] on.
Anyway, she's a social media influencer now, and acts the general fool when it comes to the family's business. But she's putting on a balloon festival, and Ryland is helping, and she comes up with the idea that to drum up interest she and Ryland should pretend to be feuding. The whole thing is so stupid and Ryland speaks for us all. "Honestly, this all sounds ridiculous. Why can't we do a social media idea where we're just two normal adults who communicate with each other like grown-ups?"
Anyway, Amesta does a great job of planting the seeds with Hailey that she knows she's being immature and her reactions are oversized. She pulls a bunch of "you weren't here for me!" "You told me to never contact you and blocked me" arguments. She keeps bringing up the offer/feud but never lets him explain. She shows no interest in Ryland's take on the breakup. She is told by multiple family members that she is being immature, and she knows she is acting in a way that people whose opinion she values and who she admires would think is wrong, but continues. And even after she starts to "mature" she keeps thinking about how it could be "if Ryland hadn't betrayed her" when truly that was all in her head.
Anyway, this all goes on too long. She stays immature seeing him in secret and fake feuding "Because I just want to talk to you. Why can't we just talk, Hailey? Why does it always have to be a fight?" She lies to her mother rather than tell her she's out with a boy (she's 26). She's a mess until the very end. And the catalyst for isn't as much that she needed to make the messy situation right then it all blows up in her face and she takes the most attention-seeking path out of it. Ugh, I guess she doesn't change that much?
I like Amesta's writing and this family is lovely, but Hailey drove me absolutely crazy. This might have worked better if she were younger on page, but 26 was too old to be acting like this. She chafed against her family treating her like a child, but she acted like one in all respects, so...
Also sidebar: she apparently doesn't know what Halley's comet is? I found this so improbable that I put up a poll in my instagram stories, and had many responses broken down by young adult/adult and every single person, including numerous high school and college age kids knew.
I’ve been looking forward to The Love Feud for months, and it lived up to my expectations. Hailey and Ry are sweet and messy. Their fake feud to draw attention to the hot air balloon festival is a delightfully flimsy excuse to spend time together.
Robert Moreno’s death upended the lives of each of his three daughters. If you haven’t read Love at First Flight and The Wedding Con yet, now is a good time. In the immediate aftermath, David Selene, the owner of a rival hot air balloon company and the father of Hailey’s secret boyfriend, Ryland, offers a financial bailout, but it’s misunderstood as a predatory buyout. Hailey breaks up with Ry and builds the Selene family into an enemy. Hailey is a great storyteller, which sometimes leads her astray.
When Ry lets Hailey know he will be representing his family in organizing the central Oregon balloon festival, Hailey’s first instinct is to avoid, and when that isn’t going to work, she hits on the idea of a fake feud for social media to drive interest in the festival. Her storytelling instincts are strong, and Ry will do anything if it means he gets to spend time with Hailey. Their first staged fight is excellent fight/flirt banter. Hailey is trying so hard to maintain the fiction, but their attraction burns on the page.
The only person who really buys their fake feud is Hailey’s mother. As much as she has needed the help and support from her daughters, she’s quick to go to Hailey’s defense at a perceived slight. When the miscommunication is cleared up, she’s ready to smooth things over with a pie. We get brief visits from Hailey’s brothers in law, Dex and Boone, who are better judges of her character than her sisters.
I love the way Janine Amesta writes her characters. They are relatable and familiar, trying to live their ordinary lives as best they can. Their love stories are no less epic for being set in a small town with nary a rock star or mafia boss in sight. I love that her characters would be ok without their love interest, but being in the relationship gives them the foundation to be more. They have lives, dreams, and hopes apart from their love interests, and their love interests want them to shine. Amesta’s characters are messy, funny, and so lovable.
As with Amesta’s other books, consent is king and condoms are in use.
At the end of each of the books in the Love is in the Air series, there’s a feeling of expansiveness, like the characters live on though the book is over.
For transparency I need to say that I have bullied Janine Amesta into being my online friend. She is one of the kindest people you’ll find on the internet and a wildly talented artist. My review has been entirely honest, though unbiased simply isn’t possible.
I really loved the first book in this series so I was hoping this book would be another great read and it was! I loved Hailey and Ry! They were so cute together and obviously meant to be! I stayed up too late finishing this one as once I started I couldn't put it down.
Hailey and Ryland dated before her dad died, but no one knew. They kept it secret as she was afraid her family wouldn't approve as he is the son of their rival hot air balloon company. Then before they could come clean and tell everyone Hailey's dad died and in the aftermath things didn't go well. She is angry at Ryland and his dad and wants nothing more to do with them.
Now it is 4 years later and Hailey is trying to put together a hot air balloon festival for local balloon companies...which means she needs to work with Ry again. Ry whom she hates...or should hate. She is all about the social media so she comes up with this crazy plan for them to post online and get people talking about the festival and it was so much fun. The two of them really were great together. Of course things don't go exactly as planned as there are still so many feelings there and I loved watching it all play out. They were wonderful together and I loved them so much! The third act drama was great (and needed) and I loved how everything ended up. I love both of their families and how kind and caring everyone is. It was great. I'm sad this is the last book in the series, but at least I can go back and re-read them any time I want.
Thanks to the author for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Hailey Morena has posted again! This time it's to promote her up-and-coming hot-air balloon festival. That is, until Ryland Selene steals the show and their family business feud becomes the fuel for viral fire. Ryland and Hailey weren't always enemies though. Once upon a time, they were star-crossed lovers torn apart by a business offer on the heels of Hailey’s father’s death. Is hate all Hailey has left to give? Or does Ryland have some part of her heart she forgot all those years ago.
I received “The Love Feud” as an ARC from Janine Amesta’s publisher one random afternoon. In the chaos of my own life I wasn't even sure how I originally stumbled upon it. Which is odd because I rarely forget. I dove in, trusting my judgement, only to find I, once again, picked up an ARC of a third in series. A series I hadn't read. Does that ever stop me? No. Did I enjoy this book? YES. The grinch of romance fell in love with a third contemporary romance book. It was hard not to. Hailey was hilarious while Ryland was probably the sweetest MMC I've ever read. Their chemistry was off the charts and I actually couldn't put the book down.
Although I've never been a fan of miscommunication tropes, this novel explored miscommunication and fake-enemies to lovers in these beautifully contained character arcs. I can't wait to return to this series to properly meet Selah and Naomi.
One time lovers from rival hot air ballooning families must reunite to organize a hot air balloon festival. Hailey, the youngest of the Moreno sisters, has always been known for being a bit of a flake and getting herself and her family into chaotic situations. So, proposing a fake hating relationship with her ex boyfriend on social media to help draw attention to the festival she’s been tasked with organizing seems right up her alley. Except, instead of fake hating her ex, she’s beginning to realize she’s never really gotten over him.
Ryland has his own issues to contend with, namely that he’s been in love with Hailey for the past four years, ever since her dad died and he, in his haste to help her family business survive, ended up pushing her away. Desperate to find a way back into her life and hopefully her heart, he signs up to help with her festival and participate in this fake hating debacle.
These two were adorable but I will say, in parts of this book, Hailey comes off as very young in her actions. But then, she is the baby of the family so it does make sense. Ryland is the epitome of the hero who falls first and falls harder. It’s a sweet story with some interesting twists as these two young lovers find their bickering way back to each other.
Content notes: grief, dead parent, family secrets exposed
The Love Feud is Hailey's story - third of the Moreno sisters who works in her family's hot-air ballooning business. Hailey is a drama queen, and initially quite unlikeable. She's inflexible and holds her views tightly - even with little evidence to support them. Like her sisters did, she also feels under-appreciated so she wants to prove herself. It was so good to see Hailey challenge her own ideas and grow into a more mature and open person who owns her mistakes.
Ryland Selene has been in love with Hailey forever. He's been working in his family's competing ballooning business, and his ham-fisted attempts to help out when Hailey's father died, cemented a feud between the families which has kept him and Hailey apart.
Their secret past relationship and feelings for each other, are rekindled when Hailey sets up a hot-air ballooning festival where she needs Ryland on board. During the preparation and lead-up to the festival there is plenty of drama for both of them, and all the reckoning they need. Ryland has other demons he needs to face and I enjoyed the secondary plot around secrets and bullying. As well, part of the fun is how much these two underestimate their parents. A quick and thoughtful read - recommended!
Thank you Janine Amesta for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Tule Publishing via BookFunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 4.5 stars. Another – the last? – lovely story about the Moreno sisters, “The Love Feud”, by Janine Amesta, shows a rebellious, daring heroine and a steady hero involved in a webb of half truths, miscommunication and a lot of longing and pain until love prevails. Hailey and Ryland seem different, even opposite personalities (she’s chaos, he’s predictble), but have so much in common: they´re both family-oriented, even if in varying degrees. I loved how their relationship evolved as both also grew, changed and matured. The attraction, desire and romance are cute and nuanced. Ryland is a great character, an even-tempered person who hides vulnerability and some painful events. I loved how the author wrote the changes and growth his character went through. Hailey is also a great character, impulsive, creative and smart. Is it the authenticity of the characters and their feelings and reactions or the quality of the writing - but each of these stories is perfect and unique and so, so enjoyable. I loved the affection between the characters and their relatives and their hot air balloon business. It was great to meet again the characters from previous stories.
I stayed up until 1 am finishing this book last night. I didn't want to. This is the last book in the series so I had been trying to take my time reading it -- savoring it. It didn't work and now I'm exhausted and nursing a good-book-hangover.
Amesta takes us back to the world of hot air ballooning for the youngest Moreno sister Hailey's story. This is a second chance love story with a light helping of angst between Hailey and her ex, Ryland. Hailey and Ry are simultaneously working out their own father issues, large and small, while trying to promote their balloon festival via a fake fighting social media scheme that inadvertently has them falling for each other again.
It was great revisting the couples in the previous two books and I love the way everything got tied up in the end.
I'm sincerely glad I randomly discovered Amesta's books via social media -- although it wasn't probably random, she knows how to hustle! Thank you to the publisher and author for an advanced copy of this book.
We follow Hailey and Ryland whose family both own hot air balloon companies! Hailey’s father ran the company but he passed away and the sisters were left to keep the family business together.
Hailey and Ryland we’re like Romeo and Juliet they had love for each to her but were to believe there fathers where rivals in the business so they hid there relationship. When her father passed she called things off cause it just didn’t feel right. But neither of them could denied the feelings they had for each other !!
I loved this Book I thought it was so cute and I couldn’t put it down I loved the banter that went on in it while they were “fighting “ the flirting that was always there. Hailey always thought that Ryland’s dad was a rival and just mean and rude but in the end it turns out to be completely different and she learns more about her dad.
This is the third one on the series you can teams them as standalone but you run into connecting characters So I would recommend reading all 3 !!
I received this book as an ARC, and I’m so happy I did!
I had no idea this was the third book in the series based on my reading it. Now I have to go read the others, because it was very cute.
The characters are really likeable, and the misunderstandings don’t drag on forever like some romance books do.
Overall, I thought this was an excellent read. One thing that bothered me and took me out of the immersion was the Halley/Hailey thing. The comet isn’t pronounced like Hailey, traditionally, so when Ryland asked if it was like the comet, I was hoping Hailey would correct him and be like, no, that’s Halley’s (Hal-ee) Comet, not Hailey (Hay-Lee).
So anytime he called her Comet I was like… Awh man.
But they were super sweet, believable characters, with complex pasts and feelings that they needed to work through. Also, shout out to the half-brother for getting a tiny redemption arc near the end. That was nice to see. He’s still awful for how he behaved before, but… some people can become better.
Good read! Excited to read the first two, now!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Another delightful entry in a warm hug of a series. Also, this was the first book to pull me out of Hollanov fanfic, so you know it has to be good. Hailey was a tricky character in the first two books, coming off as immature and impulsive. However, in this book, we flash forward 4 years and she's starting to do some thinking about who she is and what she wants.
[RE]enter Ryland, her former secret boyfriend and current nemesis. After her father's death, a rival hot air balloon company owned by Ryland's father tried to take theirs over and Hailey did NOT react well. After 4 years of trying to get over each other, Hailey and Ryland are now trying to work together to launch a successful hot air balloon festival.
This book has family drama, second chance at love, misunderstandings, and the greatest sister relationships put to paper. There is limited spice, but it is so sweet and I just love the way this author writes.
Thank you to Janine Amesta and Tule Publishing for an eARC
This was a delightful story with many moments of vulnerability and sweetness.
The authenticity behind the maturity and changes that were written into the characters was very enjoyable. I loved seeing the ways in which the characters grew and how this impacted their relationships, from sisterhood and mother/daughter dynamics to, of course, romantic partnership. I really loved the moment Hailey had with Dex and then later on with her mother. We get to see Hailey reflect on her past actions and work through who she is as a person and her relationship with her family. Ryland is also navigating changes in his life, with his career and then the festival. Starting a new position has him being reintroduced to Gil, and there are definitely things to be uncovered there.
I will definitely be going back to read the other books in this series.
The Love Feud by Janine Amesta This story starts out with Hailey and she's helping the family business by calling others to cancel their hot air balloon ride as the pilot is now dead. Others are trying to save the company with the financial parts of it. She's hopes to persuade a man to take over for the pilot. Hailey plans for a big show they will be putting on. Ryland was dating her in years gone by but she broke up with him. Now they are doing this dating thing to gain more social media interest, it's all for show. Called fake hate and I just don't get it. His father shows up the day of the show and his mother sees them, her daughter is crying... SO many misunderstandings. Like hearing how the community is behind the big event. Received this review copy from the publisher via BookFunnel and this is my honest opinion.
Another great book by Janine Amesta! Think Romeo and Juliet, but with a much happier ending, hot air balloons, and a modern take on the family feud. Ryland and Hailey were definitely meant to be together. He pays attention to the little things and truly wants to do anything he can to make Hailey happy, even when he thinks it might be a bad idea haha.
Janine has built such a wonderful world and such authentic characters throughout this series. Hailey’s story was the perfect way to finish it off. I’ve enjoyed being part of the Moreno family for all three books, but you could definitely read this as a stand-alone.
It’s been an honour being an arc reader for Janine. I can’t wait to see what new stories she comes up with next, as she’s quickly become one of my favourite, go-to authors.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Love Feud by Janine Amesta.
Here is my honest review.
The Love Feud is a charming, feel‑good romance with banter that had me grinning from the very first chapter. I loved how the story balanced humour with genuine emotion, giving the characters real depth while still keeping things light and fun. The chemistry between the leads feels natural and engaging, and their dynamic makes the whole journey incredibly easy to root for. While the pacing is a little uneven in places, it never takes away from how heartfelt, witty, and thoroughly enjoyable the story is overall. A delightful rivals‑to‑lovers read that leaves you smiling long after you’ve finished.
This book is just wonderful. Full of bits of culture, some laughs, just the right amount of spice, and enough food mentions to make me hungry long past my bedtime. Hailey is the youngest sister of the Moreno family - with two older, married siblings, she is struggling with her sense of belonging. Introduce Ryland, with whom she has a past, and all sorts of devious and mischievous ideas fall into play. Can she come up with a way to move forward without hurting those she loves...including herself? I was so engrossed in Hailey's story that I genuinely could not put it down. While I am sad to see the Moreno's stories come to an end, I am glad to know that there are more books out there by the author - onto the next!
Thank you to the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving a review, and all thoughts are my own
First of all, I didn’t realize this was the last book in a series when I picked it up but it stands on its own perfectly well!
Hailey and Ryland get a rare second chance at a relationship despite misunderstandings and rivalry between their two hot-air-balloon-company families. I enjoyed how their second chance unfolded without a ton of flashbacks to their previous relationship. I also liked how strong each character’s family ties were. I did find the storyline to be a bit simplistic but it worked for the length of the book
Second chance romance Rivals to lovers Fake hating Open door (not very explicit)
Janine Amesta is becoming one of my top small town romance Authors. I loved being back at Terrabonne and seeing Haileys Story as she was by far my Favourite sister. Spunky and tenacious and the biggest heart kept secret.
Having lost her secret love because of feelings and a little miscommunication, I loved that she was able to get her chance to put things right.
While organising a Hot Air Balloon Festival with the guy she dated and noone knew it, it left plenty of room for uncomfortable conversations and then the fake Feud really got under way haha.
Thank you so much to Janine for the advance copy and I can also recommend following her as she does the cutest art stuff too! You impress me every day!
The Love Feud is the third book in the hot air balloon business series titled; Love is in the Air by Janine Amesta. This second chance romance has another theme of parental interference with the male lead character when he was younger. Now Hailey Moreno needs Ryland Selene’s help to plan a community business festival. While there are grudges from the past, these two are meant for each other. Social media is at work in this story with fake enemies, fake feuds online generates lots of social media attention. It also proves this couple are better together. An entertaining read with an outspoken woman and one sweetheart of a guy. No matter the kind of day you have had, The Love Feud will put a smile on your face.
What started out as a secrete fling turned into a rival. Will the flame relight or is out for good?
This was a cute small town romance.it had fantastic banter and love. Ryland is handsome, even after heartbreak he never let go. He is sweet and caring. Even when trying to fake-hate. He wasn't so good at that. Haylie went through a lot. She has a lot of anger and pain. But when she makes up her mind she doesn't back down. The fact she can turn the smallest thing into a fight is quite impressive. I never been an a tour in a hot air balloon, but now I really want to go on one…This was a good read with a tiny bit of smut.
I just finished The Love Feud by Janine Amesta and it was such a fun read.
This is a second-chance romance with a twist. Instead of fake dating, the main characters decide to fake hate each other online to create buzz for a hot-air balloon festival. The “fake feud” angle was something I had never seen before and it made for some really funny moments.
Hailey and Ryland have history, family drama, and a lot of unresolved feelings. Their flirting and fighting to ignore their lingering feelings kept me entertained. Plus, I love a good second-chance romance.
It was light, humorous, and just a really enjoyable story overall. I’m glad I signed up for the ARC.
A fake hate scheme and a secret relationship make this an unforgettably fun book and the perfect way to end the Love is in the Air series. I couldn’t wait to see how exes, from rival hot air balloon companies, Hailey Moreno and Ryland Selene, pull off their feud on social media to get publicity for the festival they are working on together.
But there is more to this story, once they get working together, they renew their relationship. Now they have to keep it a secret from everyone, including their families. This book was so much fun to read, I just couldn’t get enough of it.
Such a cute book. A small town second chance romance with a dash of spice and a fake hating scheme.
In the centre of it all is a huge misunderstanding between Hailey and Ryland. It made for a very interesting read.
I enjoyed the dynamic between Hailey and Ryland. Their flirting and fake fighting was fun and entertaining. I was so happy when they finally gave into their feelings. It was simultaneously cute and hot!
I liked the storyline, the characters and their development and growth. Would have liked it to be longer, but at the same time it wrapped up beautifully. I had fun reading it!
The Love Feud is a sweet and enjoyable contemporary romance that’s perfect for fans of second-chance love stories. The fake feud between Hailey and Ryland adds a fun twist, while their past gives the story emotional depth and strong chemistry.
The writing is simple and easy to follow, making it a quick, feel-good read. While the plot is a bit predictable and sticks closely to familiar romance tropes, it still delivers a satisfying and heartwarming story.
Overall, it’s a cozy, light romance that doesn’t try to be anything too complex—but does what it sets out to do very well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve loved all of Janine Amesta’s books that I’ve read. Hailey and Ryland’s love story in The Love Feud was a little wild but also cute with the fake hating but what I could really relate to was Hailey feeling a little lost and discovering what she wants out of life through trying something new. I loved how Ryland had made changes in his life to be more worthy of Hailey’s love before they even reconnected and how he was so down bad for her. It was also wonderful to read about the Moreno family again and the ending was just so perfect. Thank you to author Janine Amesta and Tule Publishing for the opportunity to read this early.
Hailey struck me as immature in the previous books, so focused on her social media that she missed the big picture about her family’s business and her sisters. She was hurting from feeling betrayed by her secret boyfriend Ryland whose family offered to buy her family out of their rival ballooning business after her father died. Now they are forced to work together on a joint event and she wants him to fake fight with her for her channel but it isn’t long before real feelings reemerge. I don’t think she considered what their actions would do to their family businesses; she was so focused on her followers. This was a steamy second chance adversaries to lovers romance.
The Love Feud is book 3 in the Love is in the Air series by Janine Amesta 4.5 stars
Up next is Hailey and Ryland’s story. They were secret boyfriend/girlfriend until Ryland’s dad tried to but the business after her father’s passing, she told him to blow hot air! Now 4 yrs later Hailey is tasked to create a hot air balloon festival which will include Ryland’s cooperation. What happens next is faking a family feud, fake dates, misunderstandings, family dynamics and maybe a second chance at a forever love!
I voluntarily read a copy of this book from Tule Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Book three of the series focusses on Hailey and Ryland. Young lovers torn apart by secrets, miscommunication and mistakes. Their families run rival hot air balloon companies and after the passing of Hailey's father, Ryland's father offers to financially bail out the Moreno's but it comes across as a hostile takeover. Hailey turns her back on Ryland but the feeling never go away. Years later the cross paths again giving them another chance. Can they get it right this time?
The last book of the Moreno sisters follows Hailey, their social media expert, an Ryland, her ex and son of rival balloon company. This is a quick, light romance with a few steamy scenes. I think the fake rivalry and immaturity (especially on Hailey’s part) did not work for me here but I did love all the Oregon references.
I received an advanced copy for free, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
