I received Mistletoe Meltdown in return for review as part of the tour hosted by Bewitching Book Tours. It’s the Christmas season so Maurin is hosting her first ever holiday party which means lots of decorating, her first time cooking and presents. Everything is ready when the guests start to arrive for the party and things are going perfectly until Maurin get’s a phone call she can’t ignore and they head off to save the day.
Arriving at Toil and Trouble they learn that the bouncers are gone and the place is a wreck. Amalie throws up a shield to protect them from the dark witches using blood magic. Working together they will have to dispatch the witches without ending up in the line of a curse.
I like Maurin a lot she’s quickly become one of my favorite characters in the urban fantasy world. I also really like her growing collection of friends. It’s interesting to see how so collects new people to be part of her little group. We have a chance to see her new relationship with Mason who happens to be fae and I’m not sure how I feel but things seem to be working out.
Mistletoe Meltdown is a short novella that fits in perfectly with the series I do admit I missed seeing the relationship blossom between Mason and Maurin but I’m enjoying that they are together. While the novella is short it’s a perfect blend of holiday cheer and action packed showdown. The author has created an exciting world with humans and supernatural beings. Mistletoe Meldown is a fun installment in the Maurin Kincaide series. I can’t wait to dive into the next one, this one was perfect for a warm winter day. Highly recommend for fans of Urban Fantasy.

I liked it. It was a nice light and festive read. It definitely could've been longer but it was still good.

Maurin is delightful. The blood witches inconsiderate. The ending was just right.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Romantic. Scary. Twisted. Wonderful characters.

Not terrible, but not great.
Won't read it again, but I'd read the first Maurin Kincade book because I want to know how she got hooked up with all these different folks.

"Mistletoe Meltdown" is a short story that goes with the Maurin Kincaide series by Rachel Rawlings. I really wish Goodreads or Amazon had told me where in this series the story falls, because I was pretty lost about the characters. After reading the story, I went to the author's website. Although she doesn't have them numbered, it appears that this story goes between books 4 and 5. I wish I had known that because a lot of what was mentioned at the beginning was meaningless to me because I didn't know who the people were. For example, Maurin spends a lot of time telling the reader what wrapping paper she bought each person for Christmas. I'm sure the paper was meaningfully selected, but it didn't mean anything to me because I didn't know the characters.
You really need to have read the prior books before reading "Mistletoe Meltdown." You can understand what's going on, but it just doesn't seem very important if you don't know the characters. Also, there's too much missing information. For example, at 44%, she says, "I skipped the bad joke about trouble literally being in the name of the bar. This was a problem for me because she hadn't said what the name of the bar was. So, the joke was lost on me. A few pages later, she says the bar's name, but it was too late for me.
I was pretty bored at the beginning, in part because of what I mentioned above. I was also bored because not much was happening and there didn't seem to be a goal. I grew impatient waiting for some action. It comes, but too late in my opinion.
If you want to read this entire series, go ahead and include "Mistletoe Meltdown." It's not a bad story; it's just hard to read by itself like I did.

Great
This is a great short book it belongs between book 4 and book 5 . I love reading this series it's got everything. It has action, magic, werewolves, witches, vampires, fae , friendships, and love. It takes you somewhere else let's you see what's happening though the words. So if you haven't already gotten this series of books then get all of them they are a must read.
