With his father furious about discovering Paul's jacket in his bedroom and insisting he is never to see Paul again, Lonny must decide if he will obediently follow his dad's wishes, forsake his relationship with the boy of his dreams, and join an ex-gay program that will attempt to "retrain his brain to think straight" - or choose to follow his heart.
This series has a couple of truly nasty human beings but Ashley is one of the evilest characters I have had the pleasure of reading about in recent memory. This girl manipulates this town like nobodies business. These books just get increasingly better.
Well, well, well who'd a thought it.....it looks as though Jack the quarterback could well have feelings of a sexual nature for his sidekick Travis, and that those feelings are returned. The really nasty piece of work in this story is the 'evil bitch cheerleader from hell' Ashley, and she surely deserves something exceptionally 'nice' to happen to her. I sincerely hope things go belly up for her in the last of the trilogy, yay!!
As far as Lonny and Paul are concerned, things are on track and doing nicely. No full on stuff yet but they're getting there...and no-one can doubt they're in love. For Lonny's stupid *pray the gay away* father Richard however, things are going from bad to worse. Lonny starts to ignore what he's told and carries on meeting up with Paul, and his estranged wife Donna begins to see her first love for what he truly is, a bigoted religious nutter with a temper that's now coming to the fore and may do someone harm before this trilogy is finished. 4 stars.
Yeah, it's not that this book was badly written, because it wasn't (there were a few spelling mistakes, but nothing crazy), but the plot... DANG I am wrung out! Fucking religion, fucking disgusting 'kids' and fucking useless 'grown-ups'.
So Lonny and Paul are trying to be together. Paul is bringing Lonny out of his shell, and Lonny is HAPPY for the first time in -maybe- ever. BUT Lonny's douche of a dad, has decided that upping the bullying of both Lonny and his mother, is the way to go. Also Lonny will go to a conversion camp, no matter what his mother OR Lonny say. This dude is so far out, and so horrible, it was really rough to read. At the same time Jack and Tyler are having some discoveries of their own, BUT after their atrocious behavior I could not for the life of me feel anything but DISGUST for them. We get more and more of their POVs, and the whole time I was thinking: 'I hope you get your hearts broken in the worst possible ways. I hope you will never find happiness. I hope you will die broken and alone after a LONG LOOOOOOONG life!'
Wauw, okay I might be a WEE bit bloodthirsty... However this book was well-written, and I could not stop until I knew what happened, I just fucking HATED most of the characters (except Lonny, Paul and Lonny's mother). And with the above-mentioned horrible characters and the religious aspect I admit to skimming quite a bit, because it was so so rough to get through.
Damn, talk about OTT - it felt like I was reading a novelized telenovela with all the different dramatic plot points. And yet, I still want to read the next one? Yeah, I totally do...
I could just strangle that man. How much more can that boy take. It just breaks my heart to hear the bulls**t that that man spouts at his own flesh and blood.
Omg omg yet again I was blown away by this story. I love Lonny and Paul and what they are to each other. I love their love lasts a lifetime and beyond.
Jake and those other people are just plain evil and I hope brought down
Lonny's dad better see sense or something very bad will happen
Please, PLEASE tell us there will be a book 3 and more plzzzzzzz
