THANK YOU Peter for this useful information on pain and healing. I fell off a step ladder over 25 years ago because it broke while cleaning my kitchen cabinets, and landed on my butt. But I soon felt sciatica on my left side lower back, which later on became severe spinal stenosis. I was a physical personal trainer at the time and knew to keep my body as strong as possible. Luckily, I’ve eaten nutritiously with a good mindset on strength and agility. I like how you explained “trigger points”-those awful knots, foods that cause inflammation, and many modalities that are beneficial. For instance, go out, get some space- relax, sleep well, hugging and laughing our ass off. It is scary about environmental factors we cannot control, but we just do the best we can. Anyway, I’m on my way out to get a back scratcher, and tart cherry juice. Bravo for writing your story.
I picked up this book because of recurring lower back stiffness from sitting long hours, and I found several ideas that were easy to try instead of just relying on painkillers. The chapters on stretching and muscle imbalance were probably the most useful for me. The explanation that years of poor posture and favoring one side of the body can gradually create pain made a lot of sense, and the suggested stretches helped reduce morning stiffness after a couple of weeks.
I also liked the section on trigger points and using simple self-care methods before looking for expensive treatments. The author keeps the language simple and avoids too much medical jargon, which makes the book easy to read.
That said, I did not agree with everything. Some recommendations about diet, organic food, and alternative therapies such as acupressure mats are presented with a lot of confidence but without much discussion of scientific evidence. I would have preferred more references to medical research and a clearer distinction between proven methods and personal opinion.
Overall, I found the book practical and motivating. It encouraged me to make small daily changes instead of expecting an instant cure. Even if every suggestion may not work for everyone, the stretching routines and focus on correcting everyday habits were worth reading and have genuinely helped me manage my back discomfort better.
The author gives a description of what pain is and what causes back pain. The author describes how body unbalance can cause back pain. The author also shows how trigger points and certain food can cause back pain. The author encourages you to eat properly and stretch to reduce back pain. The author recommends several products to help with your back pain. The author discusses psychological remedies for stress that can cause pain. There are other good suggestions in this book. Although the book has good suggestions. What I personally found most helpful were the stretching exercises near the end. These were described well and the visual aids helped. Overall, this is a pretty good book to get started relieving your back pain.
Life-Changing, Simple & Hopeful! Having suffered from chronic back problems for over 40 years, finding real relief has felt nearly impossible. I am incredibly grateful I picked up this book because the practical techniques are already helping me feel better! Pete Powers cuts straight through the noise, delivering exactly what he promises: "Just simple proven ways to get rid of your back pain fast!" It is an absolute godsend for anyone dealing with long-term pain. Highly recommended!
I've had a lot of back pain in my life, so I know a thing or two, and I can tell you, if you're willing to do the work, the advice in this book will help you feel better. Powers hits the topic from so many angles: posture, diet, stretching, strengthening. All of it matters, you have to do the work, but if you do, this will fix you. Do it, people. Live pain free again.
Back pain. Ugh. I have a heating pad to my back as I write this review! The book is full of good advice, techniques and devices that could help alleviate or do away with back pain. It also includes some simple stretching exercises with photos. The first device I'm going to use is an Acupressure Mat!
I’ve struggled with back pain on and off for years, and this book gave me practical techniques I could actually use. The advice is simple, easy to follow, and realistic. I especially appreciated the holistic approach. It helped me feel more confident about managing my pain naturally.
It is a much needed book if you have long sitting working hours or over 35. But will have to incorporate in lifestyle. A few of the suggestions I'll try to incorporate some like good neck pillow and basic exercises. Have one for neck pain also 🙃
Following a lifetime of back injury , I decided to give this ebook a read. There are a lot of good points about stretching and exercising. It would be nice to have shown some of the exercises but this book focuses on 5 day back pain cure- and it does offer insights into this.
