A Mighty Change

Rate this book
Repentance takes change. Becoming takes change. Perfection takes change. Does the constant ebb and flow of change leave you feeling a little unsteady? From commonplace changes to the monumental moments that alter your path, it is impossible to move through this mortal existence unchanged—and in truth, our eternal progression depends on our willingness to be molded and refined by life’s ups and downs. Perhaps the most important changes we can make are those that bring us closer to our Father in a change of perspective, a change of desire, a change of heart. In A Mighty Change, distinguished gospel scholar Ed J. Pinegar turns to the scriptures for guidance on how to not only accept change but also celebrate it. In a thought-provoking discussion of six elements of change taken from King Benjamin’s sermon, readers will come to know that when viewed through eternal gospel truths, change is a necessary catalyst in becoming true disciples of Christ.

I decided to read the book “ A Mighty Change” by Ed J. Pinegar because I have gone through so much change this year that I knew it would help me understand the change was for a reason. I really enjoyed this book. It talks a lot about how no one is perfect and change will often take place depending on what Heavenly Father wants us to be doing. If there wasn’t change our lives would be completely boring. We need ups and we need downs to get us through this stage in life. This book really hit home to me because I never really understood why we had to move my senior year of high school. I just wanted to finish the year with my friends. After reading this book I realized that it was an “down” that had to be accomplished. I was so angry and frustrated I didn’t want to go to school. I realized that I needed to communicate with my Heavenly Father and believe in his work. This book also had scriptures you could look into and read and it completely relates to the story of change and progressing in life. I enjoyed that it gave the the book, chapter and verse so that I can go back into my scriptures and highlight and study that chapter. This book may not be for everyone since it is an LDS church novel. However, I feel that even if you aren’t LDS and you are going through a big change in life than this book would be a great one for you to read. It is so uplifting and is worded perfectly. Mighty changes will occur during your lifetime, it is meant to happen. Life would be very bland if we did the same thing every day.
