I received an ARC for The Game. You don't have to but I read The Race first and im so glad I did. These characters are mentioned/in it.

Sarah just got the internship of her dreams with the the Chicago Coyotes hockey team. She is the new Social media Strategist.
Alex is the Team captain for the Coyote's hockey team. He is a forward
When Sarah need to come to his hotel room to work on a work assignment he mistakes he for a escort and she slaps him. (It is such a cute meet cute
Their attraction is instant. They are so cute together. I love their banter. I loved their relationship growth. No 3rd act break up. I loved this book.

I know it’s crazy to think that I finished this book in ONE. DAY. but I did! It was a great hockey romance between a grumpy NHL captain and the fiery & fiesta PR/Social Media Intern. I was so excited to be able to read the ARC for this title so a huge shoutout for allowing me to read it. It releases at the end of this month so get excited!!!

THIS BOOK IS SOOOO GOOD!!!!
This is my first book I’ve read by Sam and I was so excited to be on her arc team!! Thank you Sam for allowing me the early read - it was sooo much fun!
Firstly, the hockey aspect of the book wasn’t overpowering and I really enjoyed that. Alex is the captain - he’s used to getting what he wants and the control aspect of being in a power role.
Enter Sarah - she was my favorite! She’s so smart, strong and takes no crap. She doesn’t change herself for anyone and challenges Alex in just the right ways. Being on the journalist/intern side of the business was also a cool twist.
Can we talk about that slap though!!?? This literally made it for me 😂 Noah - what a turd. Thinking Sarah was an escort had him meeting Sarah’s hand on their first encounter and I was here for it!
I always like a dual POV and seeing how each character is feeling. With Alex - you get to see that it’s not just physical. He knows he pooped the bed and needs to fix it. Seeing his regret and Sarah really making him work for it - loved it. You also see the obsession and him falling…hard.
There’s so many elements that were just on point throughout the book - the tension, the attraction and chemistry between them, the power dynamics and them having to work together in close proximity. The banter between them will have you laughing out loud! The spice is spicing! Highly recommend the binge read! Thank you again Sam!! I hope Noah’s book is next…cough, cough 🙃

This is easily one of my favorite sport romances i have ever read. It is the perfect blend of witty banter, swoon moments, character growth, sport elements, spice and storyline all woven into a complete bingeable book that i devoured.
I love the unique take on hockey romance where we have the sport journalist intern and the captain of the nhl team fall in love. It has one of the best meet cue's i have read, he thinks she is an escourt, she gives an iconic slap and that is the start of some off the best
banter i have read 🫠🔥

The chemistry is instant, the tension is heavy and the emotional deph beyond the physical attraction is everything.
The book is written as a dual pov which adds a lot to the story, i loved Alexander’s pov and seeing that it is so much more than just a physical attraction and how the relationship grows.
There is no 3rd act break up and when conflict arises it is resolved quickly and not dragged out.
The family and hockey team dynamic is both such a treat and adds so much to the story.
i love each and every one of the side characters especially noah and i really hope liam and samantha will get their own book in the future!

I absolutely loved getting to know Alex McGregor and Sarah Parker. Their story had everything emotional highs and lows, tension, chemistry, and those moments that make you laugh out loud when you least expect it.
I’m still not over the fact that he literally thought she was a hooker 😂 The misunderstanding had me shaking my head, especially knowing it was all set up by his teammate Noah.
If you’re looking for an under-350-page hockey slow burn with heart, humor, and just the right amount of angst, this book is perfect for you!

This book is hands down one of the best sports romance books I have read. As a hockey girlie who loves the boy aquarium this had me wanted to keep reading! ANd im very impressed and happy that you used the correct pharsing when regarding Long Island as a fellow Long Islander.
The spicy was divine and that scene where he tied her hands behnd her back. I was screaming!
The writng and pace flowed perfectly.
I even cried when you explained Sarah and her father's relationship as it remided me of the relationship I had with my dad. We only got to one hockey game while he was still alive and it was the NYPD vs. FDNY. He couldn't stop smiling the whole game and was happy to share that moment with me and my sister.
I would recommend this book with my whole body and chest and would gladly read more from Sam Whitelock.

I devoured this in one sitting and I am not okay about it. The Game is sharp, spicy, addictive, and absolutely unhinged in the best way. From the very first accusation, yes, the escort one, I knew this book was going to be chaos and chemistry and I was right.
Sarah Parker is THAT girl. Smart, professional, ambitious, and absolutely not here for nonsense. Watching her march into an NHL organization and immediately hold her ground had me cheering. And the slap? Iconic. Career-defining. No notes. I loved that she never dimmed herself to make Alexander comfortable. She challenged him, pushed him, and refused to be anything other than exactly who she is.
Alexander McGregor is a walking red flag with a redemption arc I ate up. Arrogant, powerful, used to control, and then completely undone by one woman who refuses to play by his rules. Alright let me get into this book review, I really liked this book and enjoyed both the characters very much and it was refreshing to see a strong willed FMC that doesn’t take any ish from anyone! What I also liked about this FMC is that at the fist sign of trouble she didn’t just break things off she stormed over to this man and called him out straight away! We love a communication trope, (if that’s a thing), or anything that doesn’t lead to the dreaded 3rd act breakup all for something that could’ve been a quick little chitty chat.
Both characters are very confident in themselves and just made each other better, there was no typical power struggle and this beautiful man just listened like the sweet man he is but when I came to his woman’s bedtime routine (IYKWIM) he was all up in her business and the only thing he wanted to hear was his name, his actual name, and isn’t that want we all essentially want? A man in the streets and a fre@k in the sheets if you will.
Whenever these two see each other I feel like everyone else gets hit by proxy and that’s why I picked this song as I imagine every time the FMC sees the MMC she’s got this song going through her mind, I know I would!

*The Game* by Sam Whitelock was such a satisfying slow-burn hockey romance.
I loved both the FMC and MMC, which doesn’t always happen for me — but here it absolutely did. Alexander is truly a one-of-a-kind MMC. He’s sweet and bossy in all the best ways, protective without being overbearing, confident without being arrogant. He just works. His presence on the page is strong, but there’s depth to him that makes you root for him even harder.
The FMC is feminine and strong in a way that feels authentic. Her character makes sense. Nothing felt forced or exaggerated just for the sake of making a point — she felt real, layered, and easy to connect with.
The supporting cast was memorable too. I especially need Liam’s story. Immediately. Please and thank you.
The spice was well done and made sense within the plot. It wasn’t randomly thrown in to fill space — it built naturally with the relationship and added to the emotional progression instead of distracting from it.
And can we talk about the fact that there wasn’t a third-act breakup? I kept bracing myself for one… and it never came. Such a refreshing choice, and it made the ending feel earned and solid instead of dramatic for drama’s sake.

Tropes: one night stand/ f- buddy proposition/golden retriever MMC with a dirty mouth/ feisty&independent FMC
When he starts the introduction with thinking she is a one night stand sent to him to relieve stress by one of his teammates but he ends up falling harder for her than he ever thought possible. When she comes back at him with trying to reduce their tension and sexual attraction to a situationship, he proves that he is the right man for her in more ways than one!
If I could get you to read a book with just a deduction this would be it: “for the ones who love their independence but secretly crave a partner who takes control…”
What independent woman doesn’t resonate with this idea a man who’s got his own thing going but also knows how to care for his girl and take over without her even having to ask! Cue the captain!! He also likes to read too!?!
When she tries to set boundaries and rules to keep it professional but he sets rules about taking her on dates and treating her like the girlfriend that she is!!
Sam please manifest some bossy, sweet, and thoughtful men like Alexander into our lives who know how to get the job done on and off the ice!

this book just felt wayy too rushed with a focus only on sexual chemistry. like the moment when alexander tried to make sarah understand what they had was more than just sexual chemistry i was so confused because they had barely interacted to form an actual emotional connection and most of their monologues were about how hot the other was (again showing that they were much more physically attracted to each other than emotionally attracted). thankfully, they didnt go ahead with a fwb arrangement but i still felt that the author didnt give them enough time to form an emotional connection with each other since we barely got scenes that showed this. however, when it came to physical attraction, the author had no problem using show-not-tell to portray their sexual chemistry. this is why i felt that the entire book was very surface level, like it didnt delve deep into chracter personalities (such as why Sarah was such a control freak and why she was so against rls coz she was worried alex would 'ruin' her?? girl calm tf down) and it certainly didnt go deep into their rls or backstories either. it was hard to get attached to any of the characters, friendships and whatnot with only a few descriptions showcasing the inner workings of each character. the ending chapters and epilogue were pretty sweet tho but overall the book felt quite superficial.

I read the e-ARC of The Game by Sam Whitlock in one-sitting. It’s a slow burn, enemy-to-lovers, workplace romance set in the NHL hockey world with a sports journalist intern and the team captain of the fictional Chicago Coyotes. A hot, arrogant captain who is used to being in control and holding all the cards. Then he meets the one girl who challenges all that and it’s game on.
Sarah is a strong female protagonist who is no-nonsense and able to give as good as she gets. She handles the team like a pro, finding out what they like and don’t like about their relationship with social media. The only snag she runs into is when she tries to meet with team captain, Alexander, who first cancels on her then thinks she’s an escort sent by a friend and teammate. Needless to say, things do not go well at their first meeting. But Alexander is nothing if not persistent, and the harder Sarah tries to fight things, the more he works to understand her and change her mind.
If you’re looking for a fun, one-sitting read with spice, banter, and plenty of moments to smile, The Game by Sam Whitlock is a book to check out. I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.

Sarah walked into the team’s arena doing her thing (as an intern!!!) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 She’s a PR baddie and she deserves all the good things coming for her 💁🏻♀️
Alexander, Alexander, Alexander… He is captain daddy 🥰 He just is. And his determination was swoon-worthy, it had me kicking around and giggling! No notes. I love him 😍
The spice and the banter were so good. I looove good banter! It had me giggling and blushing like I was part of the conversation 🤣 The spice??? I mean I didn’t call Alex captain daddy for no reason 🤪
I will say that the plot is where it lacked a little bit for me, but that’s not to say it wasn’t an enjoyable read. I just think there could’ve been a little more conflict/tension. But again, that’s just my opinion. I still loved it and it was still a 4-star for me! Also, the fact that there isn’t a 3rd act break up… Chef’s kiss 🤌🏼
Overall, I really loved this one. I’m excited to see if the supporting characters will get their own book 👀 Thank you Sam Whitelock and Epica PR for the ARC and letting me enjoy the world of Sarah and Alexander before release day 💕

I went into The Game curious.
I came out completely obsessed.
This book hooked me fast and never let go. The pacing is sharp, the tension is addictive, and every chapter feels intentional. It has that dangerous “just one more chapter” pull that turns into hours lost and zero regrets.

It's a clunky start of wooden conversion and a lot of robotic description of characters and explanations of the setting. I was expecting more drama with all of the backstory of her dad being in the NHL, her mom's death and there is a dedicated department for negative press. They were not important for the future of this story. She's close with her family and they're all near her campus in Chicago - which for both, family is important. A lot of this would have been nice in conversation rather than explaining. Also, there needs another BETA read. But by chapter 5, it starts to gain traction as you start to like the challenge of Alexander and Sarah. And as soon as it hit it's stride, I had the book done in 2 hours. It's a sweet (sex-fueled) little HEA with zero turmoil - which is a nice change of pace. Aside from their little banter and tension in the beginning, there's no question on the characters' intentions and motivations. Overall, a cute, sweet read. *Personally, being originally from Tinley Park, it'd have been nice for at least one local or Chicago related reference or scene.

Ever work with that someone that you couldn't stop thinking about or glancing at. Can't help it when the NHL Social Media Intern, Sarah, for the Chicago Coyotes gets tongue tied around Coyotes "Captain" Alexander. He finds her funny, beautiful, fascinating and downright exactly what he wants. Thought their first meeting didn't go as some may have thought it did start them on a journey together of flirt, push/pull, and chemistry that one was trying hard not to fall into.
The banter between them was great! Made me laugh and giggle like a schoolgirl. It's a definite slow burn that can make you frustrated if you love them insta loves but if you're willing to put in the time it will not disappoint.
I did enjoy the fact that you really got to know the characters. There is a lot of building on each of them so that you really know where they're coming from. You not only get his POV but hers as well. It's a slow build and then .... Guess you'll have to sit and read to see where this goes!

Sarah- Intern with the local Chicago NHL team heading up social media on a player level. Growing up the daughter of an NHL player, she is passionate about the game and excited for this opportunity. She has been meeting with all the players, except the captain who keeps rescheduling their meeting. To say that the first meeting was an epic failure is an understatement. From that point on, she is prickly to him, refusing to call him by name. What she is struggling most with is the attraction she feels every time she is around him.
Alexander- The team captain who has been swamped with the season, promotional events and his apartment being under construction forcing him to live in a hotel during this part of the season. His first interaction with Sarah is not his finest moment. He is now determined to win her over and have her all to himself.

Hockey romance with the new social media buzz. I’d rate this book as a 3 on the spice meter. Was a slow burn for about half the book then, oh gosh, the spice begins and stays for the rest!
Forced proximity, enemies to lovers, workplace romance.
I think my favorite flirtation and anticipation during the book is Sarah not saying Alexander’s name to him. Does he get her hot enough to finally let it slip??
I really enjoyed Sarahs relationship with her coworkers and that she seems to be a strong female character. She stands up for whatever she wants, appointments especially. Mannn does that one backfire on her 😂.
Alexander is the team captain and they are currently in a slump. How is he supposed to juggle figuring out how to help his team and getting the girl he wants.
I really like that this story emphasizes that the little things matter. I think it’s important to showcase that in life. I also like the boundaries that are set and followed, especially being a female working in a male dominated field. It really resonated with me.

OMG . What an emotional rollercoaster that sucks you right in from the very first page and does not let go . I started reading late last night and to say I did not get any sleep would definitely be an understatement. I absolutely adored both Sarah and Alexanders story so so much . The connection and the chemistry they shared you could literally feel coming right off the pages . Both so likable and relatable, the more I got to know them the harder I fell . I loved the meet cute between them , watching them fall in love and overcome the obstacles in their way . Add into that the angst and the humor and the witty banter , the moments that are guaranteed to pull on all your heartstrings and keep you smiling, laughing, crying and rooting so so hard . The Game truly is the perfect blend of everything a great sports / hockey romance should be !!

I would give this a 4 ⭐️ This was different than other hockey books I read in a few ways. Sarah and Alexander had a rough first impressions to say the least but the game they played until like half way through the book I haven’t read before and was intrigued. Alexander wasn’t your typical captain you read about either. There was some mention of closeness between the team mates but not as much as other books. The main focus was their evolving professional and personal relationship which was nice, you didn’t have to focus on much else or like often get side tracked with a side story. I like that this is a stand alone with interconnections with other books such as the formula 1 characters. I enjoyed this book and was often smirking at their interactions.

I loved Alexander and Sarah. The sass and tension between them was amazing. I loved how their story played out and how Sarah didn't just fall into his arms, she made him work for her heart. The chemistry was off the charts. I loved the friendships that were made and shared throughout the book. A team is a family and it showed.
As an avid hockey romance reader, I was disappointed in the authors lack of knowledge regarding the sport. It seemed like a lot of stereotypes regarding the athletes and speculation on team dynamics. Referring to the periods as quarters was definitely the first hint to a lack of research and knowledge. This book needs technical fine tuning but the romance between the characters was great. I liked the book if I took the hockey out of it.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sam’s second novel and boy, was I grateful. This book was so fun and so funny, it was hard to put down. There is just something about a hockey romance that always hits in the best ways. And I LOVE when our two main characters manage to meet in the worst circumstances and get off on the wrong foot, because for me, it just makes the rest of the story better. I do also love that this is interconnected with Sam’s first book, The Race, where we have crossover characters but it’s not necessary to have read that to read this (although I think you should be reading both). All in all, this was a great read that I finished in one sitting, and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick hockey romance to add to their TBR.

If you are a hockey romance fan, as I certainly am, The Game by Sam Whitlock is a must-read. It is the second book in her Championship Romance series. You don’t need to have read the first book, The Race, as this one stands alone perfectly.
Book two follows Alexander, the NHL captain, and Sarah, a PR intern for the team. Their meet-cute is both hilarious and disastrous, and they share instant chemistry. Alexander has to work hard to win Sarah over, which makes for an engaging story.
I really enjoyed Sarah’s background story with her father, which added depth to the character. The book is set in the fantastic city of Chicago, and the dynamics within the Chicago Coyote team are well portrayed.
Overall, it’s a fantastic read that I finished in one sitting. I highly recommend it.
