Following the Atom Wars in the 22nd century, many of the survivors were mutated by the Strontium 90 fallout. Unable to get regular jobs, forced into ghettoes and considered an underclass by the ""norms"", the only work open to them was bounty hunting. These Search Destroy Agents - or Strontium Dogs - hunt the criminals too dangerous for the Galactic Crime Commission. One such S/D Agent is Johnny Alpha, whose eyes enable him to see through solic objects. Book 4 collects together such classic stories as Bitch and The Stone Killers.

The fourth Strontium Dog Agency Files introduces the blood-sucking mutant, Durham Red, who works with Johnny Alpha on two cases: one involving the kidnapping of President Ronald Reagan from our present, the other involving the tracking down of the person who ordered the killing of fellow Strontium Dogs by a group of stone-hard aliens.
The book more or less ends with a story of Johnny and some agents going to rescue a priest and some 'sacred artifacts'. This would have repercussions in the next book when the artifacts are hinted at having unknown powers and the group to which the priest belongs plans to use it against Johnny and his kind.
Sad, not all Esquerra art. Sad #2: Middenface came to be a prominent character. He is just annoying. But othervice there were some pretty awful offerings from specials and such, but still pretty damn good run.
Probably two of the best Johnny Alpha stories ever. Ragnarok followed by Rage are just amazing. Ragnarok finally reveals where Wulf came from, and Rage follows Johnny has he tries to get revenge on Max Bubba for what he did.
There was life after Wulf and the Gronk - Durham Red! The Midden Face stories were also okay, but he grated as he became a clown.
Then there was the weird art work and the golden age S/D was over... I didn't finish the last story, it was too hard on my eyes. I might have another go at it later on.
