The title of the book is perfect for it. 4.5⭐️! Read if you love;
🖤Second chance romance. 🖤Obsessed hero x sweet heroine. 🖤it’s always been you. 🖤Vegas wedding. 🖤Unexpected twists and turns.
Nash and Delaney was such a delight. I love it when the hero- heroine knew each other since childhood, i feel like it makes their connection even more special. The things Nash did to protect his love was ❤️🩹🫶. This was a fast paced romance, with drama, twists, action and steam. I loved Ryan too. He was hilarious. I can’t wait to read his story next.
Safety: they were both with others during separation. But was celibate for like 2 years or so when they met again.
Recommended.
I received a advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
Never have I heard of a almost wedding like the one in When He Loves by Cynthia Eden. Nash Quinn arrives just in time to stop a wedding with Delaney Daniels as the bride-to-be soon to-be dead wife. What an opening to this story. Nash may not have rode a horse or worn a white hat, but he was the hero of the day.
There is no doubt who is the villain in the Protector & Defender Romance book 6. However, you can count on twists and turns in any book written by Ms. Eden so the books stays a page turner until the end. While Delaney was a damsel in distress at the beginning, she is still a strong, intelligent woman. As for Nash, he is a true-blue protector and doesn’t apologize for being so. I especially like the fact that these characters had a previous relationship so that it is a second chance story instead of an instant lust one.
A typical Cynthia story: hot overprotective guy, (stil swooning here), a heroine that's no daisy but love it's flower name sake for a wedding bouquet and twists and turns that make your eyes cross. Add to that a bag of tension and steam and you've got yourself one heck of a story. Nash and Delaney were just perfect together.

PS : to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

A new installment in this suspense romance series that I devoured !
From the moment I read the first chapter in the author's newsletter, I was incredibly eager to read this volume ! A wedding where the groom has a knife and the bride is far from willing ? An ex who shows up on his motorcycle to save the heroine ?
And from there, everything unfolds quickly ! The plot only gets more complex with a creepy ex who becomes worse and worse with each revelation, a love story that began years ago (and is full of secrets and unspoken truths that have completely turned the heroes' lives upside down !), and of course, a romance full of awkwardness and tension that blossoms with each page (we love the heroes who are madly in love but so clumsy =D).
In short, a sexy and full of twists and turns romance that I loved reading !
I SO desperately need a book with the brother Ryan (and thankfully, it's coming soon !) BUT ABOVE ALL, I desperately need a book with the mysterious Logan from Las Vegas !!
PS: To the publisher and NetGalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D
Like with every Eden story I totally fell in love with her characters. She is just so good at writing stories we love to read. This one did start off a tiny bit slow for me, but I think that's because I was trying to figure out who Nash was. This happens to me when I know we should know the characters, but it takes a few minutes to figure out who's who.
Lucky for me it only took a second to check out the prior book and I was in like Flynn or in this case Quinn. I love the Quinn brothers. They are so funny together. More than once, I had to stop reading and see when Ryan's story was coming out. Lucky for us it's the end May.
This one is a very fast-paced story that has you turning the pages to find out what's going to happen next to Nash and Delaney. Right away you feel bad about Delaney and the mess she is making with her life. A mess she really isn't at fault about. We all make bad choices and don't realize we've done them until it's almost too late. Delaney's back story is very layered. So much happened in the past that changed her life.
It's wonderful to see that Nash still loves Delaney and will do anything to protect her. She loves him too. The sad part is that these two have trouble just being honest about their feels. They finally do and it makes the story even better. Of course, Ryan doesn't help them deal with their feelings for each other or does he.
Delaney's life wasn't the only one who changed. Nash's did after one visit. That visit set him on a course that changed everything for him. I really felt bad for him. He became someone he really didn't want to be for that one person he loved.
I so enjoyed this story and I'm glad I read it. As I mentioned I'm looking forward to Ryan's story, and I want to know who Logan is.
4.25stars-WHEN HE LOVES is the sixth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary adult PROTECTOR AND DEFENDER romantic suspense series. This is CIA agent Nash Quinn, and Delaney Daniels’s story line. WHEN HE LOVES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Nash and Delaney, WHEN HE LOVES focuses on the rescue and protection of our story line heroine. Minute before her wedding to a man she did not love, Delaney called in a favor from her friend at the FBI, and found herself on the run with the man who once broke her heart but the CIA had other plans, in the hopes of forcing Delaney’s former fiance out into the open but using our couple as a pawn in their game. A fake marriage in Vegas brings out all of the betrayers including a possible mole in the CIA, taking aim at our story line couple.
The world building focuses on revealing the truth, discovering the realty of what happened and why, and the connections to the past that pushed Nash out of her life.
The relationship between Nash and Delaney is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people destroyed by greed and obsession of the people in control, a control that was spiralling, ending our couple in the process. Desperate to save Delaney’s life, Nash agrees to a fake marriage of convenience, a marriage that didn’t feel fake at all. the $ex scenes are provocative and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are charismatic and determined. We are introduced to Nash’s brother and fellow CIA agent Ryan, as well as their sister Agnes, handler Jezebel Jenkins, and Delaney’s former fiance Kurt Wellington.
WHEN HE LOVES is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, greed and obsession, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. the character driven premise is intriguing and dramatic; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are desperate and dynamic.
Oh my heart! Delaney and Nash absolutely WRECKED me! Their story was not at all what I was expecting. While it had all the goodness that Cynthia Eden’s characters always have, the mix of emotions with the edge of danger that followed throughout this story had me on edge from beginning to end with a nonstop, pulse-pounding intensity that refused to let me catch my breath.
Delaney had a perfect mix of cute and scrappy. Soft when it mattered but absolutely fierce when someone she loved was on the line. And Nash? He became totally unhinged when it came to protecting her. The way he reacted anytime she even thought about putting herself in harm’s way for him was just one of the reasons I love this author’s work. Their dynamic was intense, a little chaotic, and hot enough to scorch my Kindle.
This had all the drama, danger, heat, and characters I couldn’t get enough of. All of it was wrapped up in a seriously satisfying ending that left me even more obsessed with this series.

Nash Quinn, who had once planned to study medicine, was in love with Delaney Daniels. Everything was fine for them until he disappeared from her life. Now years later, he is there just as she is about to marry, a marriage she no longer wanted, in fact dreaded. As they escape from the church, she knows they are in deep trouble as he is unaware of the evil they left standing at the altar! Nash is no longer the man she remembers. He is harder and seems more dangerous and she understands the difference when he explains that instead of medicine, he joined the CIA. She needs him to understand the danger as she saw her ex kill a man! He still doesn’t seem worried and vows to end the threat to her. His brother Ryan, also CIA, is there as they connect with their boss, Jezebel Jenkins. Jezebel has plans to use Delaney to draw out her ex and arrest him. A trip to Las Vegas and a fake marriage is planned, but as they arrive, the thugs are already there and waiting. Their plan was to be visible, so that her ex would make an attempt and agents would arrest him, but help doesn’t arrive. Has the mole cut off their communication and if so, they are on their own. As Jezebel searches for the mole, he and Delaney, are running for their lives. Trapped in a new location, Nash still believes that they will make it our alive as he has fought too long to make her his, his wife, and won’t give up now. Humor, suspense, danger and an amazing ending!! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Spine-chilling with a huge helping of terrifying, and a brilliant ending I drooled over.
Delaney Daniels was about to marry a killer and she was terrified. She texted her friend for help to stop the wedding but what she didn’t expect was her friend’s brother, Nash, to show up. Now on the run for her life, she trusts Nash to keep her safe. But when he kisses her she melts and her self control vanishes. She wanted to pretend he cared, that he’d never shattered her heart. But how could she possibly forget the past that almost shattered her?
Nash is furious when he hears what Delaney has been through. The man she’d been about to marry is evil personified and picturing her in the clutches of that man has him seeing red. Once he gets her to a safe house it is quickly obvious Nash isn’t sure who the good guys are any more. And if Delaney ever finds out the lengths he has gone through to protect her, the lies he’s told, she may never forgive him.
Their goal is to catch a sadistic killer. But how many people will die in the process? If Delaney and Nash manage to survive will they be able to put the past behind them and find love again?
I love when characters from previous books steal the show for a bit. In just a few lines, I was reminded once again why I ADORE Agnes. 😂😂
Look, I loved Agnes in her book and I loved her brothers in her book so still loving them in this book was absolutely unsurprising.
Nash was so great because even though he was a heartbroken, obsessed little grump, the relationship between him, Agnes and Ryan was absolutely on point sibling behavior.
I also liked Delaney. She knew when she was in trouble and tried to escape and, when that proved difficult, managed to contact help. And then she took steps to protect herself after Nash got her. She wanted to be better in a fight, wanted to be able to get away if he was hurt, wanted to be an asset instead of a hinderance. And I fully respect that and love it.
Eden writes my very favorite kind of characters. Protective, lethal men who are absolutely gone for the women they love. And strong, capable women who also know when they need back up. And Delaney and Nash are that to a T.
Wish there had been a LITTLE more spice but the story didn’t really lend itself to it so that’s fine.
I am absolutely LOVING this Protector & Defender series Eden is writing. As in, 10/10 have adore every installment so far and I can’t WAIT for Ryan’s story. 💖💖💖
I absolutely loved this book!! From the very first pages, I was completely hooked. The premise is intense and addictive Nash has been in love with Delaney since the moment they met, and when he realizes her fiancé is actually dangerous and planning to kill her, he does the only thing he can…he kidnaps her right from the altar. And honestly? That whole scene was everything.
The story blends romance, suspense, and action perfectly. Delaney isn’t just a passive character she knows she’s in danger and actively takes part in the plan! I adored the second-chance romance trope here. Nash is incredibly protective, intense, and completely devoted, which made him such a compelling male lead. At the same time, Delaney’s sense of humor and strength really stood out, and I loved how she balanced him. The action, the emotional tension, and the spicy moments all worked so well together. It’s one of those books that’s impossible to put down, and this series is definitely addictive I already can’t wait to read Ryan and Simone’s story next!
CIA operative Nash Quinn has kept an eye on his ex girlfriend Delaney Daniels ever since he broke up with her. They were young lovers and Nash was supposed to become a trauma surgeon but after he leaves Delaney, he joins the CIA. Delaney is about to marry a scary psychopath and she called her friend Agnes, who was former FBI and Nash’s sister, to help her. Nash comes riding up on his motorcycle and carries off Delaney. But her “fiancé “ isn’t about to let her get away. The CIA comes up with the idea for Nash and Delaney to get fake married to get her fiancé to make a mistake. Nash is keeping several secrets from Delaney. Will she forgive him?
I loved this story. Action. Steamy. Second chances. Secrets. Humor. Forced proximity. Nash has always loved Delaney and nothing will stop him from protecting her. Delaney is smart and beautiful but has been hurt by Nash once. Ryan Quinn is Nash’s brother and he is hilarious. I can’t wait for his book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for the author.
This is a good series! I've read parts 1, 2, and 3 but not 4 and 5. This worked well as a standalone even though we meet some of the characters from previous books.
Runaway bride and her true love on the run from very bad guys. Great, sign me in! And this was just what it promised to be: fast paced, fun, exciting. Cynthia Eden's writing is always easy and fun to read!

Nash Quinn was one big dummy who left Delaney when they were younger. She believed he left her to be come a doctor. He became a killer spy. Delaney has tried to escape her wedding to Kurt, her killer fiancé who is actually an international criminal by the name of Typhon. Nash rescues her from Kurt who has Delaney at knife point from the church, just before the I Do's. Cynthia Eden delivers (again) on a semi-anti hero, Nash Quinn. Nash has always been in love with Delaney but for some idiotic reason has stayed away from her for years (but stalks her remotely).
Delaney is relieved Nash has saved her from Kurt/Typhon, but isn't up so speed with what Nash has been doing in all the years he's been away from her (killing people). Thankfully, he's finally decided he's keeping her! A steamy, fast paced ride with a psycho stalking Delaney (hey, two stalkers!). Recommend.
I enjoyed the book. However, there were several unanswered questions and one confusing element. I was confused about the CIA involvement. The CIA only works off of American soil. But in this book the whole operation was CIA in the United States.
I have several unanswered questions. Why did Nash come to live with Ryan's family? I assume it was a foster care arrangement, but it was never mentioned. Since they had the same last name, it must have involved an adoption. Did Nash's mother give him up at birth? Since he did not know of their existence, that must have been the case. Did Delaney get the money that she won at the casino? Did Nash return to medical school? None of these questions were ever answered. If they were, I missed them.
For once, I was not aware of all of the fowl language. It was not constant as in the other books. Plus, since the book held my attention, I seemed to just read over the words.
Great second chance romance story If you like second chance love stories, then you’re going to love this story. From the very first chapter of this book, you are going to be pulled into this story and never want to put it down. I loved the way that Nash swoops in to save Delaney from her wedding and the way that Delaney never hesitated to take off with him. I couldn’t believe what she went through with that monster she was being forced to marry and how she survived that. Thank goodness Nash saved her. These two have such great chemistry together, that you can see why Nash will burn the world down for Delaney. The heartache that these two went through for 8 years was awful, but now that Nash has her back, he isn’t going to let anyone separate them ever again. Thank goodness he has his brother Ryan to back him up and our good friend Gray Stone makes an appearance as well. I loved everything about this book. It is truly another great story from Cynthia!
1. I love how gone Nash is for Delaney. However, learning he'd been with others after breaking up with her (which he'd done because everyone he loved was threatened) is disappointing. I wanted him to remain true to her, to not want anyone else but her, to always know he'd do everything to win her back. Him saying he closed his eyes and imagined they were her does not help. He carried around the engagement ring he'd bought for her eight years ago, yet couldn't NOT bang others? Kind of doubting the depth of his "love" for her with that revelation. (Her being with others is understandable as HE dumped her. HE said he didn't care any more. But him? Nope. Should've remained true to her.)
This is such a fantastic book and I was hooked from page one. Nash has always looked after Delaney even after he broke her heart 8 years ago. When he discovers she’s about to get married to a really bad guy? He’ll do anything to keep her safe, after he rescues her from the wedding. There is so much action, and is there a mole in the department? There’s a reason Nash left her and I had some tears. Will he get this second chance? He’s never letting her go again. Loved their happy ever after. This book is worth re reading. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.
When He Loves is the 6th book in the truly awesome and unique Protector and Defender series. Unique because there's just so much fun and wit in the stories you'd almost be forgiven to think you're reading a rom com. Instead, you're reading about deadly threats and nail-biting suspense with a smile on your face! Nash and Delaney's second chance at love can easily be read as a standalone and is another winner for me. All of the above combined with explosive chemistry, unwavering devotion and family ties make this an irresistible read. Ryan's story can't come soon enough! I was fortunate to have received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
This had an interesting plot with the reason behind Nash turning his back on the love of his life, Delaney 8 yrs ago, her family history getting away from her Fiance at the alter. Non stop action with humor sprinkled in by his brother Ryan. For some reason, I wasn’t that into the MC’s. I didn’t really enjoy how Nash wouldn’t reveal the reason behind leaving her but I think most would enjoy the slight angst of it. I did like that Delaney is made of pretty stern stuff and although frighten, still dealt with the guns and knife attacks pretty well. I look forward to the next book in this series and find out more about Nash’s brother, Ryan.
In my opinion, the best book in the series so far. I loved Nash and Delaney together & I'm a sucker for a second chance romance. Particularly loved all the little things Nash hadn't forgotten even after their 8 years apart & the "I've got your back" relationship between Nash and his brother Ryan. Another enjoyable, well written book from Cynthia Eden - she's quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Ryan's up next - can't wait to read his story
Wow, I have a new favorite in this series! A wonderful second-chance romance that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, “When He Loves” by Cynthia Eden is one of the best books that I have read so far this year. In particular, I adored Nash’s unwavering dedication to Delaney and his strong protective instinct to keep her safe. Now I can’t wait for his brother’s story next, since I think Ryan Quinn is finally about to meet his match.
Another great addition to this favorite series. Eden writes the best storylines for her exciting characters. Zoom-zoom, bang-bang, the non-stop action keeps me on the edge of my seat and gasping with each moment of danger facing these well-drawn characters.
Entertaining and fast-paced romantic suspense. I loved the storyline, characters, action, and the emotional romance. This twisty thriller kept me on my toes and turning pages well past bedtime. Highly recommend!
I loved this book by Cynthia Eden. When He Loves is fabulous with Nash and Delaney. Chemistry off the charts and such suspense and laugh out loud moments. Love the whole series. Hope it continues.
This is a second chance forced proximity romance thriller with Nash Quinn protecting Delaney Daniels with his life. It was an awesome fast paced read. This has been a great series so far and now looking forward to Ryan Quinn’s book.
Don’t open this book until you have a few hours to indulge in one of the best books you’ve ever read. From the very beginning until the explosive ending you’re gonna be hooked!!
She’d called a friend and begged for help. That help had just arrived. Though I didn’t necessarily count on the help arriving in the form of my ex.
Nash Quinn has never stoped being obsessed with Delaney Daniels. This time he’s not letting her go he just has to mend her broken heart.
“I chose to walk away from you. I am the villain.
Catch the bad guy and claim the girl.
Fake wedding or is it!!
“I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to have like…something old and new. Borrowed and blue.”
Logan Sterling, I’m so intrigued by him. Yes please!!
“The enemy of my enemy is my very best friend in the world.”
Another great read from this amazing author. I’m really enjoying the spy ones. I liked the characters. And it was a pretty good read. I really enjoyed it.
