John has been to his daughter's best friend Lily everything a godchild could ask for: a protector, a friend, a better father as her own could ever be. His godchild and his daughter have been friends since they were born. The alleged car accident four years ago that put Beth's mother in a week-long coma, did not only kill Lily's mother's and Will's wife's life, but took from John his best friend, and first love. Now, when he looks at Lily, he forces himself to see his godchild, Will's daughter, Beth's best friend and not his second chance for true love and true fulfillment. Because it was Lily's mother, Sarah, who really understood every part of him including his DARKEST LONGING.

D.S. “Dee” Wrights was born 29th March 1980 in Germany. Her name is a pen name, and she describes writing as her passion and calling. Dee speaks three languages fluently, English, German and Dutch, and some other rudimentary. Although she started writing at an early age and two short stories were published during high school, one as a school project and one in a regional newsletter – Dee never dared of thinking to pursue a writing career. Until she started writing fanfiction and readers encouraged her to publish The Beast And Me as an ebook in May 2014. Dee worked at a publishing house at which she earned insight into the work, process, and production of publishing books. That was the reason why she chose to do all the work herself, apart from proofreading. When talking about her novels, Dee explains that she loves to dive into the mindset of different characters, especially those of villains and anti-heroes. However, in addition to that, she enjoys writing women who start off as weak and grow through their experiences in her books and end up being their own hero.
The question "Why do you want to be my friend?" is meant seriously. If you have more friends than books, or your answer doesn't tell me anything, I most likely won't accept the request.
This was entertaining enough, and very well written. It was also smokin’ hot! The love affair between an 18 year old girl and her godfather/family friend/protector, it takes right to the edge of the forbidden and leaves them there, panting. I particularly loved Lily’s provocative attitude and her seductive intentions with John. The thing I liked the most about this book was that denial came first, I mean, they didn't jump right into it.
I particularly loved how John reacted to the unexpected turn in his relationship with Lily with excitement but also some uncertainty--it gives the story a degree of authenticity without taking away any of the sizzle. The sexual relationship was fuelled by powerful emotions. John was conflicted with flashes of guilt, shame, and a new lust for Lily. John’s alpha attitude and of course the spanking were the icing on the cake!
This book was fast paced and utterly sizzling. The sex was hot, but so was the sexual tension! I also found it emotionally fulfilling for some odd reason. But it was just taboo enough to be hot without turning most readers off. This was a brave, and successfully delivered erotic romance by D.S. Wrights.

Honestly, if you like me, do me a favor and give this book as chance - as soon as it comes out. Because this lovely Lady writes it FOR ME. The older man/ younger woman plus tormented soul giving in to his need for being dominant is a total kink of mine. - I already have read scraps. God, I love it. _______________________
First of all: As you can see above I am totally biased. I was part of the story line development as in: I got the first glimpse of everything. So, I will try to stick to being informative further on.
Now, the review:4.5 sparkling stars If you've read The Beast And Me you are already aware of D.S. Wrights unique writing style. Darkest Longing is no different when it comes to your full emotional experience. But if you are looking for the suspense and mind-games or abuse and non-con topics you won't find them here. If The Beast And Me was too much for you, you will enjoy Darkest Longing to the fullest. If it was your absolute thing, Darkest Longing might be the right bedtime reading.
Concerning the story there is but few I can say without spoiling it for you. Darkest Longing narrates from two POVs in third person: Lily and John, who are battling the undeniable attraction to another. Lily, who doesn't know whether or not John sees nothing more but her mother - his former lover - in her, and John, who is torn about the fact that Lily is his goddaughter, practically family and his own daughter's best friend. Glimpses of the past of both of their lives but also Lily's mother show how dark this story is going to get. Secrets are revealed and emotions unfold and the darkness takes form mischievous deeds and disturbing characters. As to the adult content: it's definitely there. A bit more graphic maybe. However, D.S. Wrights manages to combine graphic description and emotional dive-in in a way that I completely forgot that I was reading and not making things up in my own head.
So, why am I not entirely happy with this one? Especially, when I was the one asking for it? The answer is easy: I miss the tiny special ingredient The Beast And Me had, the suspense, the riddling, the mystery. I promise I'll never ask for a story from my head again. Use your own magic recipe! I'm definitely looking forward for circuit heart and all the awesome stories that may come in the future.
Lily and Beth are best friends who have known each other their whole lives and are now looking forward to going away to college together. Not only are they life long friends that live on the same street, but Beth's father John is Lily's God-Father and their parents are best friends... or were. That is until Lily lost her mother in a car accident also involving Beth's mother Lydia, who survived. Since that time her father has spent most of his time in the bottom of a bottle. This has only driven Lily even closer to Beth and towards the man that she has no right dreaming about.
John is nearing 40 and is a successful architect. It's just a shame that his professional success doesn't cross over into his personal life. His marriage to Lydia has reached breaking point, with her spending more time away than at home. His relationship with his oldest friend Will is now none existence, thanks to the death of Will's wife, his best friend and sometime lover Sarah. But the worst thing of all is the feelings he's started having for someone so untouchable, that it's now taking over every waking and sub-conscience thought he has.
This is the story of how a loving, caring and innocent relationship suddenly crosses the line. How it evolves into a magnetic, physical and undeniable connection. A story of how 2 people heal and complete one another; no matter their age or origin of their initial relationship. It is taboo, it is hot and it is very enjoyable.
I loved the innocence of Lily and I loved the genuine hesitance and goodness in John. It was a real push and pull and although the story for the majority takes place over a very short space of time, it is packed full of drama, emotion and a good dose of angst. If you are worried it will feel icky, don't. It is pitched perfectly in my opinion and I think she has set the tone just right. Lots of truths, lies and secrets will come out as the story is laid bare, making the book a real page turner. My only negative would be that it needed maybe an additional proofread to polish it to perfection, but it certainly didn't detract from what was an original take on the very popular genre of taboo relationships; which seems to be the new black in the world of creative writing.
My first D.S. Wrights read and one that I throughly enjoyed. If you like your taboo love stories, with a heavy dose of drama, angst and plenty of steam then I highly recommend it .
Holy hotness batman!!!! I was given a arc for an honest review.
The book is about 18 year old Lily who has never been in love and has had to deal with a lot of tragedy and pain in her life. She has always had her best friend Beth and her god father John but know one knew what she was dealing with. John was so torn between the fact that Lily looked like his best friend and first love who happens to be Lily's deceased mom. Lily is unable to see herself with anyone because she is in love with John but it is one secret that she can not share with anyone.
To be honest with you I was skeptical about this book the topic brought up in the story is not something I would normally read, but I am so glad I read it. The author D.S Wrights is so good at drawing you into her books, she makes you feel the emotions that her characters feel and that I find is so hard to find in a lot of books today. D.S has a way of making such taboo subject seem not so taboo, and this is definitely one of those such subjects. For one you have the barley legal beautiful girl and the older father figure, and two there are light d/s situations involed.
If it hadn't been for having to go to work I don't know that I would have been able to put this book down. Loving the book as I do I had a hard time choosing a star rating. I almost went with a 4 but it was because of the need for more editing. I also felt like it was rushed at times but in the end I had to go with 5 stars because even though it had slight issues it didn't detract from the story itself. Just be prepared to not want this book to end!
You can bet that D.S. has made me a fan. I have read two of her books and I can promise that I will be reading more.
This story is about forbidden love, but only due to society's views. John is 37years old, and falls for his daughters best friend... Lily, who happens to be only 18 years old. I personally find nothing wrong in this...who's to say who you can love. It is a bit odd that you can fall in love with someone you have practically bought up, but love has no rules. It's a slow burn between these two. Because of the unknown and the stigma of a relationship, it takes them a bit to get together. Compounded by the fact John is in to BDSM. Lily does has the added advantage of her dead mothers diaries. It turns out John and Lily's mother had a thing for each other. I was given this book for an honest review. I found the story quiet slow to start, but builds to a steamy conclusion, yet his daughter still doesn't appear to know. This must be hard on both, to keep a relationship in the dark from his daughter. I loved what happened to his wife..good for him!, not sure what happens to her dad?, is there to be a sequel?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I can't resist a forbidden romance storyline and, given how much I enjoyed the author's previous works, I was quite interested to see where this one was going to go.
Poor Lily! I couldn't help but feel for her, especially how she was trapped in this terrible situation with her creepily abusive father (most of the abuse is "off-camera," happening before the story begins). I couldn't help but cheer at the final scene between them, though (won't go into details so to avoid spoilers ;) ) and was glad the way it all worked out.
I also enjoyed John and Lily's romance and the way they dealt with their burgeoning feelings. I definitely wanted them to get a HEA! ;)
I really do enjoy this author's voice, which has a very unique and interesting cadence to it. The descriptions are always unusual without being overdone or flowery and really connect to the emotions.
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Coming from someone who finds most BDSM books out there extremely repetitive and boring, Darkest Longing, a novella by D.S. Wrights, was a welcome surprise. Thought the subject matter is taboo, with a quasi father-daughter relationship that crosses the line, it is by no means lewd and vulgar. Some readers may find this snail-paced but I appreciated the author taking her time to develop the characters, both their past and present insight, and present a real emotional and moral struggle and some hot as hell sexual tension before having them jump in the sack, as with so many pulpy dime novels of the genre. I particularly loved the epilogue. Thank you for not ending this with kittens and rainbows and a nicely and securely tied bow. It was the perfect note to end this novella. Really well done.
Down from a 3.5 to a 2.5 after a reread (December 2018)
Second time around I was underwhelmed. There was too much inner monologue between them and no real resolutions or development, you don't even get to see

I always love the idea of age difference romance add into that a forbidden element and you have a happy bunny here.
That's exactly what you get with this book. It was hot! But having said that it could really use editing and the epilogue was too short and open-ended for me.

This book defiantly took me by surprise! I found myself not being able to put it down, am a sucker for forbidden love books! This one was great, it had a good storyline and the characters drew me in. Lilly is so strong and determined you find yourself wanting her to get her HEA. The storyline had twists and turns that kept me on my toes, and I loved every minute of it! I would highly recommend this read if you are into sexy forbidden relationships with some darkness in the mix!
This book was given to me by the author for an honest review and I have to say as I started I was thinking that this was a bit Taboo for me. An older man/family friend with a younger female (18 years old). Lily had a secret no one knew about, her love for John and what's been going on at home. Lily has known John all her life and knew the truth about what really happened. John also has his a secret too. He also has feelings for Lily and hides it because he believes it's wrong. Will they ever let the age and familiarity let them move forward? Is this more than just sexual attraction?
I think Darkest Longing is one of the best reads of 2015.
Its intensifying, telling us a forbidden story between an eighteen year old Lily and her Godfather - John. They seem to have this attraction, a pull towards each other, but none of them acknowledge it because it is against the rules of society.
Lily's mother dies in an accident, and her father is no more a father, rather a drunk man. So John is the closest thing to a family she has. As the story proceed, you can actually see these two struggling against their attraction. But one night, Lily couldn't take it anymore, and just does something she shouldn't have.
D.S.Wrights has done a very good job in executing the story. Its a taboo topic, but it is my personal recommendation - please read this book. Its hot, steamy, downright sexy. The author takes her sweet time, putting us in this sweet misery, leaving us wanting for more. The way the scenes in the book are written - my my, how I wish there were more chapters to the story.
When our main character John gets a taste of what Lily is like, his senses almost fly out of the window. All he can think about is Lily, all he wants is Lily.
When secrets start to pop out of the bag one by one, it gives John one more reason to be close to Lily. He wants to protect her and he wants to f*ck her. Darkest Longing is a read that I cherish and I tip my hat to D.S.Wrights for writing this story. It is absolutely fantastic!
After reading the entire book, I was amazed at how I had come to love the story. This is a book that everyone should read. I literally have no more words because this book gives you all kinds of feels. Its sweet torture. And then waves of pleasure overtake you.

Darkest Longing is an intensely satisfyingly tale of forbidden love between an eighteen year old girl and her best friend's father. It took me a chapter or two to get into it, but once I did I couldn't put this book down. The characters are well rounded, realistic and you really feel like you know them. I enjoyed the author's writing style and would definitely read more of her books.
Lily is eighteen years old and has strong feelings for John. Not only is John nineteen years older than her, but he is also her godfather, her best friend's Dad and he is married. I know that some people may be a bit uncomfortable reading about a couple with such a big age gap, but I felt that the author tackled this slightly taboo subject and all of the problems that come with this type of relationship really well.
I don't want to say too much about the storyline as I don't want to give anything away, but since her mother died in a car accident Lily has had a very difficult relationship with her father. This means that Lily is now spending more time at her friend Beth's house and she has grown even closer to John. There is a lot of history between Beth and Lily's parents and it was fascinating finding out more about them and their secrets. I often find it difficult to connect with younger heroines and can find them annoying but I absolutely loved Lily. John is a really likable character too, and his struggles with his feelings towards the girl he helped to raise are great to read.
This book is really hot, the chemistry between Lily and John is explosive. There are elements of domination and submission in their relationship which I really enjoyed reading. The sex scenes are really well written and will leave you blushing.
I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it to other readers. Darkest Longing gets five sexy stars.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.
This story is about Lily an her bff's dad who is her godfather John Lily as has had feelings 4 John 4 quite awhile but didn't know if he had felt the same why they have been through a lot Lily mum Sarah died in a car crash Sarah was very close 2 John grow in up both Lily an Beth's family grow up together there is a lot of secrets between the 2 couples an Lily as found out what as been goin through her mum's secrets diaries but this only made her want John more she knew what they both had 2 lose but they chemistry between them was strong they have fought it 4 so long that they couldn't do it anymore they were hot 2gether there is quite an age gap but with both couples havin Lily an Beth young it was a huge huge ages gap just enough Lily is 18 an John was 37 now it there ye it was big but anyway they were hot 2gether Lily knew John was into bdsm after read her mum diary an she thought it was something she wanted 2 try an knew she wanted it 2 b John how she did it with Ok so this book as a lil bit of a sensitive topic I actually did mind it 2 b honest I thought I d really like it but i found that the story didn't really flow well I just kept want more in each chapter the whole story was held over a few days so I did get 2 really now the characters well enough an then the endin was just so quick I was left wonderin what happened i had loads of things I wanted 2 know Overall I m a lil disappointed the sexy time was the only thing I really enjoyed xxx
I confess to being totally in love with the writing style that DS Wrights produces with so much heart.
At the beginning of "Darkest Longings" I had a hard time figuring out who was who. I suspect that is just me putting names to faces(so to speak).
The girls, Lily and Beth(John's daughter) are best friends. Their parents have been friends since college. I don't want to drop spoilers so I'm not going to discuss their history. Lily's mother died in an auto accident a few years ago and her father has been drinking since. Beth's mother has been very distant since the accident and John has become suspicious that she is cheating.
Lily has never had a "boyfriend" as she has loved John for what seems like her whole life. John finds himself totally attracted to Lily but feels it is inappropriate. I liked that John was hesitant about pursuing Lily due to both her age and their relationship as he is the father of her best friend and is also her godfather. Lily just needs a sign from John that he feels the way she does. Dee writes from these characters both points of view. She expresses feelings with excellence.

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review...
This book has a lot to offer in the Taboo realm. Older man with a 18 year old that he knew her whole life. She's had a rough life that no one knew about and had to deal with it. She was never serious about boys and her best friend didn't know why. She had a secret. She longed for a man she only read about but saw daily. She didn't know what to do with these feelings until she turned 18 then let her emotions show. He's raised his only daughter by himself and her best friend was always there. His wife was a selfish woman that only cared about her career, or so he thought. He was happy once. Now he drinks to ease the pain of love lost and desire awaking. Can they get past the tension between them and move on or will her life change forever?
I received a free ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very steamy, steamy book. Their are two young girls in this novel, both are 2 or 3 months apart in age, so, they grew up together, and have always been the best of friends. One of the girls, doesn't have a boyfriend, wants one man who she dreams about and longs for. She does date one boy however, she realizes she wants someone she can't have. Should she act upon this? Will he feel the same about her?
Even though there is about a 19 yr age gap between the man and the girl, will they be able to have a relationship other than just a sex relationship? Will their love stand the test of time in the long run?
I have to admit I really do enjoy reading erotica with taboo subject matters and seeing where the author's creativity can take a story. Even though the characters in Darkest Longing are of age, the drastic age gap between characters will definitely cause pause for some. This is the story of relationships and how they are connected: Lily and John, Lily and Beth, John and Lily’s parents, John and Beth, John and his wife, and Beth and her mother. In Darkest Longing author, D.S. Wrights weaves an interesting tale of secrets and deceit with what some might coin as disturbing behavior that I found exciting.
I usually put spoiler(s) in my reviews but not this time. Read this book folks. Although I like taboo subjects, at a certain point part of me wanted to say, “Hey, you’re the adult. Knock it off” But anyone who is familiar with D.S. Wrights writing knows I was feeling more like
Darkest Longing is a deliciously naughty book of abuse, partner swapping, and submission. All the characters work well together and add an additional layer to the Lily and John relationship. One flaw if any, is I could not figure out if Beth was clueless and didn’t want to deal with Lily and John’s relationship or she actually knew and chose to remain silent. Regardless if she knew or not, Darkest Longing is worth checking out.
Darkest Longing is an interesting story of past multiple partners and current lifestyles. I recommend this book to those who do not have a problem with cheating, age gaps in excess of 15 years, & taboo subject matter. Darkest Longing gets 4.5 forbidden stars.
**I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my first review, and I'm not really good at this, so forgive me if I screw this up.
This is not the first book by D.S. Wrights that I have read, so I had some expectations. Even though this book has nothing suspenseful or dark, the author keeps her unique style of describing emotions and express strains of thoughts and the behavior concluding from them. I never have seen such a way of writing before and I truly, love it, because I experience the character's thoughts and emotions while reading.
As to the story: The reader follows the characters through a few days of their lives. During this time there is a dramatic change in the lives of the main characters John and Lily and their perception of each other. Lily yearns for sexual experience and sexual revelation while she ignites John's desire to rediscover his dominant side and sexuality. The author mentioned that it grazes the taboo topic, because John is Lily's godfather, but there's no real blood relationship. It's the age difference of 18 and 39 that might be gross for some people.
I give this one 4.5 stars because for me it lacks the extraordinariness that The Beast And Me had, but that's my humble opinion.
Excellent study into the thinking processes of one man as he struggles to fight his attraction to a young lady that society has deemed as inappropriate. One can feel his mental turmoil as he tries to rationalize his desire to act on his temptations. It doesn't help that the lady in question is also attracted to him, reaches out to him for more than "fatherly" care and support. Many issues get stirred up in the mix. Many secrets arise to cast a clearer light on past decisions. Also, some surprising revelations boil to the surface to change one's perspective on a deadly accident. It was an interesting reading experience watching a good man trying to understand and deal with his emotions and cravings and at the same time treat his god daughter with proper respect and protectiveness.
Too much of the book is telling us what happened in the past and not a lot of dialogue, making me very bored early on. It doesn’t show and I hate books like this. I feel like the author just dumps as much information as possible, and since this is a short book, it comes off very unnaturally. The plot is a lot and probably would’ve been better if author took their time with it. I don’t even understand half of the things going on and it’s like author purposely chose difficult wordings that they don’t even understand because it doesn’t make sense. For example, the synopsis threw me for a loop for a bit lol.
The characters are not better either. There are so much things wrong about John despite the obvious. Lily is too weak, self-deprecate a lot, though also seems to have this “I’m not like other girls” mentality going on. I hated everyone.
Darkest Longing by D.S. Wright was no is another forbidden love story but with a few twists. Older man/ godfather to the girl has the same thoughts as his daughters best friend. They both want each other. But it's Taboo. Throw in a splash of BDSM and well you can imagine.
John the godfather to Lily will keep you memorized with their story, and the past that comes front and center in their quest for the forbidden fruits they know is wrong.
I first thought that the book was too taboo for me but the way D.S. Wrights it had me glued to the pages to find out what happens. The way she has developed the characters and brings them to life on the pages gives you so much more. The values are still in their minds but lust and love walk a fine line and you must be willing to cross it to experience it.
A great twisted taboo love that you know you want to read. 4 Stars
I was contacted through Goodreads by the author's PA and asked if I would mind reading and reviewing this book. I agreed and was glad I did. I haven't previously read any of D.S.Wrights books and will look for more of her books in the future.
I love DS Wright's writing style in the dark erotica; however, I do have mixed feelings with this book, but I won't spoil anything! Although, I did love the erotic scenes. Very well written and she kept me glued to her story! I do hope there is a second one in the future for a continuation! I would like to know if anyone accepts them as a couple and what the friends and family really think. I only gave it a 4 star, because I'm unsure on how I feel regarding the relationship in the story. However, I can see it happening, but it is still a confusing mystery to me. My rating has nothing to do with the style of her writing, as you can see by all of my 5 star ratings of DS's work!! I guess my own beliefs regarding this prevents me from giving it a 5 star, BUT that is the ONLY reason! I truly love her work!!

3.50 stars
I had some trouble getting into the story of Lily. I've read a couple of my books that were with an older man, younger woman and their story captured me. Lily's story captured me, but it didn't capture my full attention. Maybe, it was the word choices or the grammatical errors that kind of put me off. Also, the flow of the story, felt a little rush.
Darkest Longing is a deliciously naughty book of abuse, partner swapping, and Lily and John is explosive. There are elements of domination and submission in their relationship which I really enjoyed reading is worth checking out.
Lily is a high school senior who has been best friend's since practically birth with Beth, the daughter of her Godfather, John who was also best friends with her mother and close friends of her father since college. John is married to Lydia who rounded out the foursome of friends during high school. Lily lost her her mother to a car accident four years ago and since that time has resided as much as possible at Beth's house as her father, Will, has slowly descended into a full time alcoholic after the loss of his wife.
What nobody realizes at the outset is that Lily is majorly crushing on and in love with her best friend's dad who happens, of course, to also be her Godfather and longtime family friend. John, for his part, has feelings for Lily that have developed as she has matured that are not of the innocent kind. At first he has no inkling that these feeling are reciprocated and when he does come to realize they are he is majorly conflicted. Battling back and forth between his desires and his moral compass and feelings and love of for his daughter and family. Lily is not so torn in her desire for him, outside of her wish to not her Beth but Lily is also aware of many secrets that lie between her parents and Beth's since they came to light after her mother's death. What ensues is a back and forth of two people whose lives have always been intertwined but already defined in a platonic and parental nature and struggle to deal with new feelings that cannot be denied that require a whole redefining of relationship.
3 Stars -- While I liked the premise of the story, I felt it could have been a much better book if the character's had been developed more and the writing had more of a smoother flow to it. There was just something that was choppy to me and it seemed to be in the author's prose. I wanted to get to know John better and also see more of Beth and Lily's relationship playing out as she starts to deal with essentially a double life. The fact that the story takes place over several days only hindered delving deeper into a more character driven book. All in all, some interesting elements and an interesting read. But can't help thinking it could have had the chance to be a Wow.

The book blurb really interested me, with its almost pseudo-incest concept.
John is a family friend, and is Lily's godfather. John's daughter, Beth, is Lily's life-long friend. The naughtiness of it grabbed my attention.
Unfortunately I couldn't continue past 26%. I did put it down for a month to see if I could pick it back up and power through, but I couldn't focus my attention on the story because of the editing.
The use of the word 'had' to indicate past tense became tiresome. It created a very juvenile atmosphere. I became so focused on how many times the author used that word in a sentence that it pulled me from the tension the story was trying to create. I really wanted to like this story, but I couldn't get into it.
I'm not a reader who lets minor editing flaws taint my view of the story as a whole, but this was too much.
Maybe with some more intensive editing, this story could be something more, but in the state my copy is in, I won't be finishing it and I cannot recommend it.
A note on the characters. I found Lily to be extremely immature in her internal dialogue. I couldn't see the appeal for John, past her youth and the taboo nature of the relationship. In saying that, I cannot comment on how her maturity would have developed, and I only got a brief glimpse inside John's head, to gauge his thoughts.
Disclaimer: I was told my copy was a completed work, and had been edited for publishing.
Dang son! This was down memory lane fantasies wise! Who didn't have an older handsome, protective man in their past who was the center of naughty dreams! I sure did! And this was THE perfect book to bring those old dreams back!
I especially loved that denial came first and fulfillment later. It was such a beautiful, realistic bild-up! The ending might be short for some people, I love that it leaves it up to us readers how things will continue. BUT I WOULDN'T MIND A SEQUEL! *hint hint* I've heard rumors that Miss Wrights is thinking about it!
I loved John's inner turmoil regarding his feelings for Lily and her determination. it was just perfect! Also it seems that the new edition was very well edited. I had no troubles whatsoever!
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This book was very taboo, I just so happen to like taboo! I'm not really sure what to say without giving the plot away, I'll just say this isn't for anyone who has problems with an younger adult female (18) and older guy (37), having a secret relationship. I didn't have any problem with that, they are fictional characters after all.
It is very, man, I'm not usually a loss for words! This is very much adult content. Some would definitely say dark, seedy? I just have no words.
What I would have like to have seen in the book, is more from Beth and her feelings and reaction from the relationship between John and Lilly. There was not any reaction from anyone, really on this... no emotions. I guess when it is basically bdsm there isn't need for emotions?
This is my favorite D.S. Wrights novel so far, two couples whose choices made years ago come back to haunt and enlighten the lives of their families in this future. Two daughters, Beth and Lily, 18 and ready to get on with their lives. Lily is living in fear and craves love and belonging.
"There was nothing anymore but Lily's soft, sweet lips on his, kissing him gently, cautiously, and simply just like they shouldn't."
"She was burning, on fire, and his moist tongue was the drop that didn't help at all, even making it worse. Still, she loved it, still she wanted more, pressing her head against the mattress."
"Lily wore all these emotions on her sleeve like armor, hiding her true self behind it."
Love was stronger than taboo in this story which involved deceit, abuse, BDSM, and open marriage.
