On a pink-sand island where everyone knows your story, one summer brings her face-to-face with the love that once broke her and a man who makes her question what comes next.
Lucy returns to her grandmother’s beloved island house on Harbour Island planning to get her footing and figure out what it means to inherit not just a home, but a life that still echoes in every room. What she finds instead is a summer that pulls her straight back into the love, and the version of herself she thought she’d left behind.
Jack is history. Familiar and devastating in all the ways that matter. He knows Lucy without asking, carries years of shared summers and unfinished conversations, and still holds a piece of her heart she never quite got back, no matter how hard she tried.
Noah arrives on the island with a guitar and a way of paying attention that catches Lucy off guard. New to Harbour Island, he feels unclaimed by her history. He asks unexpected questions and makes her curious about who she might be becoming, without offering any guarantees.
As island life fills her days, Lucy’s focus keeps getting pulled back into the familiar orbit of friends and routines, and toward Jack, in ways that feel accidental but never quite are. Afternoons meant for painting slip sideways, the pressure of her upcoming island show building as distraction becomes harder to resist.
Dinner parties stretch late, conversations tangle as Lucy finds herself in the same room with both men at once. Then one unforgettable evening at Graham Vale’s storied home shifts her understanding of the past, and what she wants for her future.
Drawn deeper into Harbour Island’s rhythm and the people who make it feel like home, Lucy inches toward a choice she can’t avoid. Because choosing wrong would mean leaving behind more than a summer. It would mean losing the life she’s only just beginning to imagine.
Set entirely on the dreamy shores of Harbour Island, The Bahamas, Pink Sand Summer is an immersive escape about love in all its forms. Romantic. Platonic. And the kind that roots you to a place forever. It’s a heartfelt, comfort-forward beach read for anyone who believes the right summer, with the right people, can change everything.

this was a really cute and quick (under 250 pages) summer read that made me want to book a trip to Harbour Island! i lovedddd how the author dressed the main character, we need an IG page for Lucy’s outfits! short, sweet, on kindle unlimited, the perfect book to kick off your summer reading
If Goodreads allowed half stars, I’d probably give this one 3.5 stars. Overall, this was such a fun and quick read. It’s the perfect beach book or palate cleanser between heavier novels.
Knowing the author comes from a fashion blogging background, I especially appreciated the touches of fashion and pop culture woven throughout the story, along with the vivid scenes set in both Charleston and Harbour Island. Those details added a charming, escapist quality that made the book enjoyable to sink into.
While the writing itself wasn’t particularly strong, I still found myself genuinely enjoying the experience. It was an easy, fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages, and I ended up finishing it in a single sitting.
The book leaned heavily on descriptive storytelling rather than dialogue, which worked at times but occasionally slowed the pacing. There were also a few random perspective shifts between characters that felt slightly out of place since they only happened once or twice throughout the novel.
That said, if you go into this book expecting something light, entertaining, and easy to fly through, it absolutely delivers. If you’re looking for deeply literary or beautifully crafted writing, this may not be the book for you. All in all, if you enjoy fun, stylish escapism, it’s definitely worth picking up! Summer 2026 here we come!
Sandy brain candy! Get out your beach bag and pack Pink Sand Summer along with your towel and sunscreen. Nothing here but Bahamian sunshine, afternoon storms, fruity, boozy drinks, cute outfits, and not one but TWO guys for Lucy to wrap her heart and head around. Nights on the beach under the stars and in the bars dancing like there’s no tomorrow. All fluffy, easy fun! I wish I’d been on a beach while reading it.
I would hardly call the hinge on which Lucy follows her heart “a shocking secret.” What went down was long ago and totally above board. I would call it some loving intervention from the past, but then, I’m not trying to sell beach reads to y’all.
Pretty bland book that was a very surface level romance. What was crazy though was any chemistry the author was able to convey was with the man she didn’t end up with. So odd.
DNF! To me, this felt like someone said “I want to write a summer romance!” and they plugged in all the right things, wrapped in Doen. And you can’t make me hate Doen, but this was just not it for me!
3 for the setting and writing. I really didn’t connect to the characters and did not enjoy the narration at all. The Fmc could not have been more conceited about her looks. In first person she bragged about how she looked and how multiple men were staring or made comments constantly. 2.5 overall. 5 for cover.
This one delivers exactly what you want from a summer read - it’s easy, immersive, dreamy, and just the right touch of indulgent. I quite literally inhaled this book in two sittings and adored my time with it.
When Lucy returns to Harbor Island after her grandmother’s passing, she finds herself in the midst of two sun-soaked love scenarios: one rooted in history, nostalgia, and undeniable chemistry, and the other fresh, polished, and quietly complicated in its own way. Despite the classic set-up, it’s executed with a warmth and charm that makes it feel entirely its own.
The real standout, at least for me, is the writing. The descriptions are lush and transportive in a way that feels almost cinematic. I could so tangibly feel the kiss of the sun, the glittering pink sand, and the tension of the late-night storms rolling in. There’s a vividness to the setting that makes Harbor Island feel like a character in its own right, which I loved!
The romance leans sweet over steamy which fits the tone so perfectly. I did candidly want just a touch more yearning and pining but the characters arcs were well-developed and satisfying to the point it didn’t adversely impact my enjoyment of this. I will say, I also loved the supporting cast of characters! There’s a strong “found family” element woven throughout which adds depth and heart, giving the story a comforting, lived-in feeling that makes you want to linger a little longer.
Be sure to save this for when you’re in the mood for a light, feel-good, effortlessly readable story perfect for a beach day or for when you’re craving something comforting and escapist that nails the summer vibe.
📖 eyeball read 🩷PINK SAND SUMMER by Chassity Evans🩷 The PERFECT beach read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Lucy is back on Harbour Island, The Bahamas, like she is every summer, but this summer will be different as she’s inherited her beloved Gran’s house and is determined to find the inspiration she’s lost in her life and her art. However, right from the start, she is faced with two major distractions in the form of the alluring new guy Noah and her ex and first love Jack. We are taken along on this absolutely magical summer on Harbour Island filled with parties, late nights, and romantic moments. AHH absolute summer perfection.
Vibes: Think how Elin Hilderbrand builds a whole Nantucket summer world. That’s what Chassity Evans does here in Harbour Island. The vibes, the fashion, the food, the drinks- felt like I was right there on those pink sand beaches. Now add in a perfectly paced romance storyline! At 230 pages and the suspense of the love triangle, this one is just so easy and so damn fun to read. I couldn’t put it down.
I do not have a second home/summer home, but I’ve been lucky enough to spend a week or weekends here and there in a “summer town.” There’s something so fun about this somewhat suspended reality- like it’s real life, but only in the context of the summer- basically an extended vacation. It was such a great time to live vicariously through Lucy’s summer at Harbour Island.
And guess what?! Chassity Evans said she plans to write more books set here in this same universe. I canNOT! I will certainly be reading the next book. What a DEBUT this was!!
This is a lighter read perfect for the beach or the pool. It takes place in the Bahamas, and centers around Lucy, who’s from Charleston. She inherited her grandmother’s home in the Bahamas after her recent passing, and she goes there for the summer to focus on her painting and to hang out with longtime friends.
While this was an enjoyable read, it was almost entirely surface level with little to no depth until about the last 15-20% of the book. You don’t get a strong feel for the characters’ histories through the writing; the author just tells you it’s there. There’s a love triangle situation with Lucy, her ex Jack, and Noah, a visitor to the island. There’s almost no dialogue between any of them, so there’s not much relationship development. Again, mostly just surface level attraction (no spice though!) . It was hard to “know” the characters or believe in their connections beyond their physical attraction to each other. I don’t know if I’d call it a miscommunication trope necessarily; more like “no communication”.
Overall, I liked this book and it kept my attention. I wanted to keep getting back to it. It’s included in Kindle Unlimited if you feel like grabbing it for a quick easy read or palate cleanser between heavier books.
The characters. The setting. The plot. The language. All top notch.
This debut book yanked me in and kept me turning the pages. I felt instantly connected to the characters, and I was definitely interested in how the love triangle would play out.
I fell in love with Harbour Island and want to travel there NOW. The rich descriptions and special details brought the setting to life almost as a main character itself.
The plot was constructed in a way that had me lost in the pages even though I had many things that needed to be done.
Most of all, the language was beautiful. It had a rhythm that made it both easy to read and delicious. So much imagery and so many perfect descriptions and comparisons.
I hope we can look forward to more from Chassity, more from Harbour Island, and more from Jack and Lucy and the other characters.
Loved this book! Perfect love triangle story with a happy ending. I enjoyed the tension build up between the characters and how it lasted through most of the book. The personalities of the characters were portrayed well and I appreciate how descriptive everything was it was so easy to picture everything in your head from the setting on the island to all of the characters. Perfect feel good read especially if you’re tired from reading other genres or heavier books! It was a quick read partially because I couldn’t put it down but I wish I had more of it to read because I loved it!
I felt this good have been an excellent read but fell short of my expectations. No deep character building, I didn’t feel connected to a single character in the story. It felt as if it was a high school writing assignment for descriptive adjectives. I would have rather learned more about the character and what drove them and made them who they are instead of what they were all wearing in every scene. I thought it was surface level unfortunately
If you need a book to kick off your Summer reading, this is the one. It is short, sweet, cute, and the kind of book that instantly makes you want to book a vacation to Harbour Island. Between the friendships, love interests, fashion, and beachy vibes, it has everything you could want in an easy Summer read. This book felt like sunshine, ocean air, and a cute outfit all wrapped into one story.
If you were to look up the definition of beach read, this book would be there! I didn’t think I’d give it 5 stars because it’s a super simple, pretty obvious book. But I couldn’t put it down and I loved everything about it. The scenery, the setting, the family element, the friendships, the romance. It was such a great short (under 250 pages) book to kick off Summer!
I am usually not a cutesy romance girly but I was in the mood for a cute summer read and this was everything! Seeing Lucy’s love story especially with Jack and their history was beautiful. Getting glimpses of her grandmother and how important she was to Lucy reminded me of my mommom and our relationship and how thankful I am for it
This reminded me of so many familiar spots, but whether you frequent Harbour Island or not you will love this book. The writing brings you there, the characters are endearing and fashion is relatable. I read this book in a day and the only disappointment was that it was over. Hoping this turns into a series!
3.75 ⭐️ the perfect book to kick off your summer reads! Quick read & on KU. I loved how the island was described so well it made me want to book a flight! I also was guilty of rooting for Noah but then I realized Jack was a great guy and that him and Lucy were meant to be! If you’re looking for a light, fast beachy read look no further!!

I thought this book was cute. It felt more like a light beach read than anything else. It was easy to read, had a fun summer vibe, and kept me entertained, but it wasn’t one that will stick with me for a long time.
Overall, a cute book to read by the pool or on vacation when you’re looking for something light and easy.
