Spiritual Laws That Govern Humanity and the Universe

Rate this book
God has created laws by which the universe is governed. Humanity has continued to set these laws into creative motion through thoughts, prayers, motives, intentions, voices, and beliefs. These are the right tools. In this book the student will learn how to use them always for the good. Human beings are responsible for creating the good, the beautiful, and the true- all of which we desire to experience. But humans are also responsible for creating that which we do not desire to experience. However, being co-creators with God, the quality of our thoughts, beliefs, and intentions will determine and manifest our world. There is work to do, and those who are on the path with knowledge of God’s attributes and God’s laws, and with love and good will in their hearts, will do that work. This is your guide to put these concepts into practice in our troubled world today!

This book is poetic in its teaching of how to live spiritually. One begins with "Commitment to the Soul"and other chapters such as "The Law of Thought", "Forgiveness and the Indwelling Soul". I found each chapters gave much encouragement to think of how I chose to live my life in relationship with my fellow humans, animals and nature in balance. I've read and reread this book many times. Please note that the God is used in this book and know that the use of God is not directed toward any religion for Dr. Edwards is an Rosicrucian, which is not a religion. Dr. Edwards' epilogue give the basis of the messages within the book, "If the energy of light is found within this book, it is God stirring within you." So Mote it Be. The Skye in June

This was a really really GOOD READ. The practice exercises at the end of each chapter are truly transformative and will take your spiritual journey to another level. I love that the explanation for and approach to certain topics are different from what is generally on the mainstream. Once you're done reading this book, you'll feel that yet another veil to ancient knowledge has been lifted.

I sat and read this in about a day. I love it as a reference. Edwards is a very poetic, mystic writer. I enjoyed this immensely and gleaned a lot of nuggets of wisdom from it.

Summary: Very dense book that is worth a read no matter your spiritual belief system. Lots to ponder afterward.

POV: I received this book after visiting an order here in NYC. I am not a member and realize that I do not promote any specific set of beliefs. Rather, I want to study and understand and then make an informed decision on my own beliefs and which direction I'd like to take my personal relationship with God, spirit etc.

It's a good book though and folks decide to go in this direction, cool.

p. 12 - They define the mind as the spiritual mind and as such the sixth sense is intriguingly defined. This feels right to me.

P. 49 - For this group, of many reasons to meditate/contemplate/pray, is the ability to detach. For me this links across religions. And the way it's described is really helpful.

p. 65 - The rules of how to become better at forgiving were wonderful. I was talking to someone recently about how "bitter" many women seem at my age, aka middle age. That even as hard it as it might be for them to find love and nice guys to date, that even I found it hard to have friends. I think it's this section that explains lot of this. The pages subsequent talk about forgiveness, what it actually is and why it's important and how to takes us away from the light (as defined by God or the lightness of cosmetic unity, etc).

p. 69 - They talk about forgiveness of self and this becomes really important when they later discuss Karma and the idea that the cycle has a little bit of us to start the momentum of it good and bad.

p. 91 - You begin the conversation on Karma here. But I love what it had to say about minimizing negative karma thoughts. It then reminds us that the bulk of karma is positive and yet we focus on the negative thereby bringing into manifestation. This is such an interesting thing that I have not spent a lot of time pondering. I work to create positive karma (not perfect on this, but I do actually try). And I notice when I get super lucky when I travel on what I've always considered Karma paybacks in the kindness of strangers. But I had not considered that in general there might be more positive karma than negative filtering all around me.

p. 110. Fascinating discussion of Proactive vs reactive thoughts. The former is of God. The latter will be negative - in general. It's what they are calling the "fight back" attitude. in 2024 where everyone is so quick to react to what other say, this is such a key thing. You have a choice on the reactive. And I struggle as do most to think of these negative things as reactive. And then you have all these folks that make money don't he right way to be reactive. This - as the book suggests - creates the cycle of negative karma expansion. (which the book still contends, and I am choosing to believe, is the far smaller part of Karma.

p. 122. Interesting wording: "Become childlike and patient in your controlled desire to understand, receive, partake and comprehend any eternal wisdom that might be impressed upon your consciousness..." I think this might be the idea of taking it in without immediately knee jerk reacting, questioning, or doubting. Let it sink and be in awe and wonderment of it. I think... i need to ponder this more.

p. 131 - "You will gradually and progressively withdraw life from the false self, the ego, and will cease expressing and living the life of the lesser self." The idea is that the first step in become a better person, is to believe you are that person and eventually you are unable to even do what you used to b/c the mind rejects it as foreign."

Anyway, I liked this book. Very thought provoking.

Meh

There are some good things here, but there are some teachings in this book that conflict with clear and enlightening Divine teachings.
4 stars for content aligning itself with the Divine Law of Love.
2 stars for teachings misaligned with the complete body of truth.

Freedom cannot be granted by a government. Freedom is a gift one gives him or herself by studying and practicing the same mystical path followed by Plato, Pythagoras, DaVinci, Ayn Rand, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington to a name a few fellow initiates.

This is another book from the AMORC series of publications. The topics include:

The Continuum of the law and the world of relationships.
Creating and maintaining spiritual stamina. This has an nice prayer with it.
Creating peace and unconditional love.
Detachment.
A chapter about the Rosicrucian Order. This really should have been either the first or the last chapter.
Forgiveness and the indwelling soul.
An inner path to reintegration and master ship.
Karma and reincarnation.
The law of love.
The law of thought.
6 steps in acquiring the art of forgiveness.
The eternal symbols of light, life and love.
The plan.
A call for healing and peace.

Some of these have an exercise with them. As you can see this covers quite a variety of topics. It is not an actual list of spiritual laws but a discussion of various topics relating to spirituality.

if you've been in the order or a prior member, these concepts are not new. it's a hint a reminder however to use love not hate towards others but not an in depth review of facing those who won't help themselves and live only to destroy.

a reminder not to gossip, be mindful, create positive, forgive.
