People know what I am. Which is rough because normies don’t trust monsters. Mostly, I just try to get by and keep my head down. My vampire and mummy roommates probably don’t help matters. But when a rash of robberies strikes the neighborhood, all eyes turn to the monsters. Even the police cast a distrustful eye our way.
As the nights go by and the cops bumble their way through the investigation, it becomes clear that something beyond your average series of smash-and-grabs is going on. For a skittering evil lurks in the dark corners, waiting to pounce.
Soon, it falls to us to track the culprit and put a stop to them. But first, I have to get Vic to stop digging his moat around our suburban home, and convince Marty to stop partying long enough to even care. Maybe we can get some respect by solving this case… If we survive it.
The Midnight Breakfast Club is a humorous horror amateur detective story for anyone who has ever felt they don’t fit in.
This was a fun one. In a nutshell, it was a funny, monster mystery. Definitely a good palate cleanser between scary horror stories. The banter between the monsters was my favorite!
I had so much fun reading this book! “The Midnight Breakfast Club” is a horror comedy story about a werewolf, vampire and a mummy trying to solve the mystery of who is behind the robberies in their neighborhood. The banter between the three monster roommates was hilarious. Some parts of this book had me cracking up- especially the mummy’s antics and the vampire insisting they get a moat built around their house to safeguard them from danger. I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet! I hope there will be more stories with Gene, Vic, and Marty.
This a really fun urban fantasy story about a werewolf, a vampire and a mummy living together in a house in a city where "Monsters" are tolerated but not totally accepted by society. The interactions among the characters are the best and you can't help but enjoy their idiosyncrasies! I'm looking forward to another book in the future.
Horror with humor is one of my guilty pleasures. I loved this story and its monsters, the mystery was great but the banter was better. I want more from these guys! Gene and Marty are wonderful but I especially love Vic... his moat and the gators.... pure gold!
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
mystery with werewolves, vampires, and Marty, who's a mummy.
Seriously though, I had a lot of fun reading this book. While simply just the introduction to what I'm assuming is going to be a series, the mystery aspect is there, but barely. This book felt like more of a way to get a feel for our MC and his unusual roommates, with their first mystery being almost like an afterthought.
The story definitely caught my attention pretty quickly and was able to hold it consistently. It's a lot lighter than Sam's other works, but I feel like it's a good break from the gore and weight of the horror I've found myself reading more and more of lately.
Would I classify this as horror? Not even a little bit. It absolutely falls into the Urban Fantasy realm and that's right up my ally. I love a good Urban Fantasy. Maybe this is Sam's hand at branching out from horror, I dunno. Either way I'm here for it and I'm looking forward to seeing what The Midnight Breakfast Club gets into next.
Glen is a werewolf his roommates are a vampire and a mummy. Monsters are accepted but watched. There are break in happening the evidence points to a werewolf. Glen is determined to find the culprit. Who is responsible for the robberies. Can the trio find out. Humor filled story with delightful characters and suspense.
This was such a great book! It had mystery, monsters and mayhem but what set it apart was the humor. Gene, Vic and Marty are monsters (werewolf, vampire and mummy) in a human world. Robberies start happening in the neighborhood and everyone suspects the monsters. To clear their names, they have to figure out who is actually behind the robberies. This was a really fun read, I loved the banter with the guys! I would definitely hang out with them in real life, they’re hilarious. Can’t wait to read more with them!
This book was amazing! It was so much fun and i laughed a lot. I was so wrapped up in it that when the end came i was like what? no! I need more book. luckily I hear more will be coming one day. Vic, Gene, and Marty were great characters. I adored them and their friendship. I may have to reread this book because I'll miss them. There are scary moments but its a fun kind of scary which is my favorite. I love when horror and comedy mix. This is a new favorite.
An absolute masterpiece of a story. The story is so good it pulled me effortlessly along. It’s not often you find this mix of humor, horror and comedy so satisfyingly well written. I tore through this book like a werewolf through a flock of sheep. I was truly disappointed when I finished the book and realized I was done. I need more stories with Gene, Vic and Marty.
This is one of my first books by Sam and it was perfect! I’m not a huge horror book fan and I know that is Sam’s main genre, but I saw him post this book on his Facebook page and instantly added it to my “Want to Read” list! This book met all of my expectations. I found myself laughing through most of the book with the roommates and their daily banter and loved that there was a mystery involved. I can’t wait for the second book to come out!
I just couldn’t stop reading this book! Not only was the banter between the characters hilarious but I also thought the storyline was very well executed. I would just like to say I feel Vic’s idea of a moat was a very useful idea!
This was such a fun book! I read it as part of the author’s reader group, where we read one chapter a day. It was increasingly difficult to maintain that speed. What a refreshing take on monsters! It was quirky, fun, and definitely mysterious. I cannot wait for more adventures with Gene, Vic, and Marty.
Wow! This was a great book! It had suspense and at times laugh out loud humor. There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming and an awesome ending! i hope this becomes a series! I loved it! ❤
I don't write reviews much, honestly, just ratings, but I wanted to say just how cute this book was!! I really enjoyed it, just like every other one of Mr. Whittaker's books that I have read.
This book was so fun to read. It was a mix of horror and humor which was a great combination. The main group of monsters were written so you had no choice but to love them!
This was such a fun read! What could possibly happen between a werewolf, a vampire, and a mummy? Don’t forget to throw in the crooked cops and potential for a moat. Also, the banter was on point. The monsters weren’t always perceived well in the community, but when a robberies happen a little too often, it’s up to the three to figure out the culprit and what an adventure it was for them!
I joined Sam’s facebook group in reading a chapter a day with this book and I literally laughed each day from each chapter.
I cannot wait for more stories about these 3 as I feel super welcomed into the Midnight Breakfast Club!
4.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this fun urban fantasy story, full of monsters, humor, suspense and mystery. It reminded me a lot of the series Being Human, which I loved! The characters were great, and their banter and interactions kept me engrossed. Really hoping this is going to be a series, because I'm excited to see where we go next with these characters and their detective agency! Thank you to the author for this eARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
A humorous mystery with werewolves, vampires, and a mummy. Sam has us rolling out of our seats with laughter after listening to Gene, Vic, and Marty try and work together to solve the robberies in their neighborhood. The banter among these three and having the werewolf, vampire, and mummy be the ones working together to solve this case was pure gold. An A plus for the originality of the idea. An A plus for the characters, and an A plus for the plot. Can't wait to see what Sam has for us next.
This was a great book! It had suspense and at times laugh out loud humor. Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and a fantastic ending. I hope this becomes a series! Loved it’ ❤️
