I must admit, Dushala has opened my mind to a new dimension of parallel universes and reimagination of existing tales.
Some parts were a bit confusing, and it was extremely fast paced but overall a good read. The author should consider making this a novel. It has potential.

This was an interesting concept in which Dushala, who is rarely mentioned in the Mahabharat, becomes this strong warrior who is fed up of the patriarchal society and wants to become queen herself.
It had a promising premise, but ultimately it doesn't completely change the story. Dushala wants to improve the kingdom by becoming queen herself, but fails to by trying to eradicate the men but becoming 'adharmi' herself. The story ends with her dying and asking Draupadi to become queen. She changes the story to improve the kingdom.
One thing that was annoying was how all the character's names were italicised. This was really irritating.
I enjoyed the aspects of her questioning the men who were present during Draupadi's humiliation and trying to get them to see that this war could have been avoided. However, the ending was kind of anti-climactic, but had a lot of potential.
An interesting read of a character no-one really remembers in the Mahabharata, but should be written about more. I think it could have had more potential as a fully fleshed out book with the whole epic from Dushala's point of view.

I will admit that going into this book expecting Volga-esque writing kind of backfired on me. The pretext is quite nice. A princess who almost no one had heard rewrites the whole of Mahabharata with a vow to establish an equal society.
The execution, however, left a lot be desired. The depth was missing. I wish there was more light on Dushala as a character, rather than why killing Kauravanshis was justified and needed. Reimagining a novel as complex as Mahabharat requires layers of differential depth of character, events and perspectives. The book rushed too much into pushing a feminism-driven narrative of changing the society without sitting properly in its theme or exploring the ground reality of its setting. I wish there was more depth and its really one of those books where I could tell it was a debut book.

Dont know i expected it whole differently ,
I think I miss interpreted it ,as far as my opinion it is not worth reading, they made it look like dushala pov, but it ain't. The writer just used to character to write an short story with already established characters and conflict
