Not that far from canon but written in a melodramatic way when there really wasn't that much melodrama. But still, it's a quick enjoyable read.

Excellently written variation, a must-read for JAFF fans
This is one of the most well-written and affecting short variations that this readers has ever read. It seems to fill in the blanks that Austen’s Pride and Prejudice left to the readers’ imagination from Elizabeth’s time in Derbyshire with the Gardiners and before they left due to Lydia Bennet’s elopement.
Although in this novella, Elizabeth did not receive Jane’s letters informing them, entreating them to go home to face the disgrace of Lydia’s and Wickham’s actions, until after Elizabeth and the Gardiners had the magical dinner with the Darcys and Bingleys in Pemberley. It is during this dinner that Darcy and Elizabeth become acutely aware of each other. The way the author weaved the words of longing, yearning between them is magical and worthwhile the read in themselves.
As stated in the headline, a must-read for JAFF lovers, and brief enough for a quick perusal.

short and sweet
Quite a bit of poetic content full of romantic angst, story happens mostly at Pemberly months after the ‘refusal’. Caroline B’s evil machination decidedly lobbed w/pinpoint accuracy to do the most damage (i mean really how bout an author include in an epilogue an appro comeuppance for her plzzzzz — along w/the Wickhams double plz?) but both elder Bennet sisters eventually find canon HEA & found Darcy very much more emo open in this novella, which i always love to see. Recommend read 12+ age groups & Will read again
