Handsome Talented Doctor Beautiful Next Door Neighbor Love And Romance on 5th Avenue
STORY LINE:
Author Abbie St. Claire has created an emotional novel of need, insecurities, and love. Widower Dr. Ian Briggs is raising his son, Oliver, trying to deal with his wife's death, and has a thriving surgical career. He will do anything for his small son including moving from Los Angeles, California to Dallas, Texas to insure his son is longer bullied in school.
Chelsie Peterson, divorced, is raising her son, Ty, with little help from his absent father. She is insecure with her femininity as her ex-husband undermined her emotionally and verbally.
As fate would have it, handsome talented Dr. Briggs buys a house on 5th Avenuel which happens to be two doors from Chelsie. The attraction is hot, steamy, and fast. The problems are many and varied.
Come along as Ian and Chelsie journey through the pitfalls of romance, insecurities, balancing careers, and raising children.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:
Ms. St. Claire created a story-line that felt very real. Ian has issues dealing with commitment after his wife's death. He has kept his sexual life separate from his everyday life. Chelsie is devastated when her husband leaves her for a younger woman. She has no self-confidence and is insecure in herself as a woman.
"...You'll want more, and I'll end up disappointing you, and you'll leave just like they all do. The only person I can be true to ---is myself."
Ms. St. Claire skillfully leads Ian and Chelsie through the many pitfalls, misunderstanding, and their children's emotions and brought them through to become independent secure people.
Ms. St. Claire created love scenes that burn and smoke. Ian and Chelsie's sexual attraction was hot, steamy and fast as Ian, a skilled lover, leads Chelsie to understand she is a beautiful, desirable, sexual woman.
"You're beautiful, sexy, and more of woman than I've ever known. One day, you'll believe me when I say it."
The plot and pacing was spot on as Ms. St. Claire brought all the many elements together in this book and created a cohesive story. The story-line kept my attention as I watched Ian and Chelsie come to terms with the issues and situations in their life.
RECOMMENDATION:
If you do not like steamy sex scenes, this book may not be for you. I recommend this book for young adults and adults due to sexual content. The story has a bit of a cliff hanger, however book 2 is available and picks up the story-line. This book will appeal to anyone that likes a steamy romance with a good story-line.
I received this book from the author in return for an honest book review.

ABOUT THIS AUTHOR:
Abbie St. Claire is an international best-selling author. She lives in her Houston, Texas and composes her steamy romances in her kitchen.
Ian Briggs is a single father trying to raise his son and move forward with his life. His wife died in a accident a few months after their son Oliver was born so he has been on his own with his son from the start. He decides to start seeing a single mom it goes crazy when things end so to protect his son from her bullying son they move. Chelsie Peterson is a single mom trying to start her life over after a nasty marriage and an even nastier divorce. Chelsie's ex killed her self esteem so she is content on her own with her son Ty or so she thought.
Ian Briggs was ready for this fresh start with his son when he sees Chelsie for the first time he is instantly drawn to her. As chance would have he this would not be the only time he runs into her. The neighborhood Ian moves into is a close knit one where people genuinely care about each other and not just in the nosey neighbor way. That's how Ian gets the opportunity to talk to Chelsie for the first time. At first it was just friendship and letting their kids get to know each other but the more time they spend together the deeper the feelings go. When they finally do end up in bed together a misunderstanding leads to Chelsie's self doubts and thinking that maybe her ex was right and she's isn't a good lover.
One misunderstanding... Chelsie ends up having to get hurt physical before she'll give Ian a chance to explain. One she realizes that she jumped to a conclusion she decides that they were moving to fast and need to slow things down. The one thing that neither thought about was how their new relationship would effect the kids. This book really lived up to its title and explored some of the conflicts a single parent goes through when starting over. Ian and Chelsie's chemistry is off the charts. This story will draw you in from page one however there is a cliffhanger this is a first in the series so that is inevitable. I can't wait to start the next book in this series.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
“What we were doing was like a prelude to a fairytale,”
“Ian, people put up walls to make others try harder. It’s human nature to want to be worthy.”
“Women can’t figure out inches because they’ve been lied to for centuries,”
“Shoes and handbags were my best friends, next to Shawna and my Bunco Sisters. I didn’t have a gazillion pairs, but the ones I did have were investments – small sinful assets.”
“My love for you needed time to bury my darkness.”
My Review:
Abbie St. Claire has a comfortable, enjoyable, and relaxed writing style. Her stories are easy to read and follow, deliciously steamy, and never fail to entertain. Amidst the sizzle there are always interesting and insightful stories of human foibles and personal struggles. Conflicted on 5th Avenue involves a belated sexual coming-of-age for a single mother in her mid-thirties, who was shattered in her divorce from a philandering husband - who took her self-confidence with him when he left her for a younger woman. She is inexperienced and self-conscious, but is slowly discovering herself with an attractive new neighbor who happens to be a sexy widower/single dad who is highly experienced in pleasure. Where is this neighborhood? I want to move there. The characters are likable and complex and the story is involving and well plotted. Be warned that it ends in a cliffhanger – thankfully I have the next installment already loaded on my beloved kindle, which I am going to immediately dive into.
Dr. Ian Briggs is a widowed single dad that was living in California who lost his wife in an accident. He relocates to Texas after being offered a job he takes hoping to give his son and himself a better life.
There he meets beautiful single Mom, Chelsie Peterson, who lives in his new neighborhood. Her ex husband has done a lot of damage on her self-esteem. Through Ian she learns she truelly is beautiful and sexual.
Both Ian and Chelsie have baggage from their past and because of it they have some rocky patches. They have to learn to not shut each other out, trust each other and love again.
This book is very well written and draws you right in. I read the book through in one sitting. I just had to know what was going to happen.
This is the 1st book in the 5th Avenue Series. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Dr. Ian Briggs is a single dad living in California with his young son Oliver, both still revealing from the death of his wife. Ian has causal hook-ups and meetings with woman so to not complicate things; he also wants to protect his son. Ian is offered a job in Texas and decides to relocate hoping the move will be a fresh start for both himself and his son. While viewing houses, Ian sees the most beautiful women he has ever seen and oh, her laugh along does things to him. He decides that this is the right neighborhood for him. Chelsie Peterson is also a single parent. She divorced her cheating husband but not before he brow-beat her about her sexual skills. She also has a son. Ian begs his new friend and neighbor to set him up with Chelsie but he refuses as the last time him and his wife, also Chelsie’s best-friend, set her up, it was a disaster. Chelsie and Ian finally get together. There is some confusion after they slept together for the first time and eventually gets ironed out but Chelsie thinks that they should just be friends. This goes on for a while but Ian and Chelsie can’t deny their chemistry. Chelsie is in an accident that leads up to some serious health problems. Ian supports her but not before being side-tracked by some potential news that Chelsie was keeping from him. When the finally wades through all these obstacles, will there still be a relationship to salvage? I absolutely loved this book! Abbie St. Claire’s writing is engaging and realistic. Her characters were easy to relate to and realistic. I couldn’t put this book down! I read it over an evening and was left wanting more. This book does end in a cliffhanger…I wasn’t aware of this; I might have let some expletives go because it had a heck of an ending. I can’t wait to see if Chelsie and Ian can make the relationship work while meshing their lives together.
I wasn't sure what I expected when starting this book, but I can say that it more than delivered. I don't read many single dad books, so this was a refreshing change. Add to it a hot doctor with a light bdsm fetish and you have me hooked! Ian Briggs hasn't had a relationship since his wife passed away. He just doesn't have the time, and he has his son, Oliver to consider. Chelsie is a single parent as well. Her situation was a bit different than Ian's, she was burned by her ex husband. Trusting doesn't come easy to her, so it's just easier to focus on her boutique business and her son, Ty. You get sucked right in to their story and are pulling for them throughout the book. They are both navigating waters they have never waded in before and things don't always go according to plan. I wasn't expecting the emotions that this book would bring out. You feel Chelsie's hesitation at letting Ian in, you feel Ian's hesitation to start over again and let himself love again. These two really have themselves worked up. The neighbors don't help much. I loved Jorge and Shawna. I wish my neighborhood had it's own Jorge so we could shoot the breeze over his "famous bar b que". For Ian, the story is about starting over, not only in a new place, but possibly with a new woman to share his life with. For Chelsie, it's about learning to trust and letting go of the past and realizing her own self worth. These two have chemistry that goes way beyond just the bedroom. I finished it in one day because I was anxious to see what happened with them. It does end in a cliff hanger, I will tell you that. And at quite the pivotal point too, because hey, authors love to make us want to throw our Kindles. I mean that in the best way too. I need to know what happens next like right now :) One consolation....we get more Ian and Chelsie
****I was asked by the author to beta read this book and give not only my honest feedback, but my honest review as well****
Conflicted on 5th Avenue was a richly enchanting tale of learning to trust again after you've been burned by someone you love. Learning to open your heart again after the love of your life is tragically taken away in the prime of life, leaving you with a deep hole inside your heart.
Ian Briggs is still hurting after his wife was killed in an accident, leaving him to raise their son alone. He doesn't have time for the hangups of dating, instead meeting women in hotels for a romp. He wasn't expecting Chelsie Peterson.
Chelsea Peterson has a problem with love: it doesn't exist. What should have been her happily ever after with her husband, turned into a nightmare after she finds out he wasn't being faithful in the least to her. He's not just a bad husband, he's not a great father either.
Ian and Chelsie have to learn to navigate this new feeling of intense passion they have for each other. Ian needs to learn to let the memory of his wife go; Chelsie needs to let go of her insecurities.
This was a beautiful story of learning to let the past go and embrace what the future brings. It was beautifully written, had me in tears at some places, and laughing in others. What I loved the most about the story is how real it felt for me. The feelings of loss, regret, anger, hurt, insecurity, fear of the unknown, and being hopelessly in love with someone who seems a bit intense.
Abbie St. Claire has outdone herself with this book.
I was given the honor to beta read this book for the author. In return I would give my honest feed back and review. Abbie St. Claire has done a beautiful job once again with her new series. This book is wonderfully written and I loved it. Ian is a widower who is living his life day to day . He lost the love of his life. Now a new opportunity is presented him. He is conflicted to take it. How will this affect his son? Chelsea is a wounded soul. Betrayed by the one who you should be able trust with all your soul. As this story progresses these two learn they have to let the past go in order to move forward. They must learn to communicate, love and trust once again. This story is so full of emotion and you can connect with them at some point in the book. You get angry, cry, laugh and get worried as to what is going to happen next. I can not wait for the next installment of this story. I want to see how Ian and Chelsea grow and flourish as a couple. Abbie has really out done herself with this book.

I completely fell in love with this book! The characters have so much depth and the struggles they face feel real. Ian is a sexy as sin doctor. He is sweet, caring , but with a bit kink. With his son being bullied at school he is struggling to make the right choices. He knows it's time to let go of the memories of his previous life but is striving to make the right choices for his son. So when an.opportunity presents itself he moves them to a small town with an old friend and new ones. Chelsie has a past she is trying to forget. Her only focus is on raising her son she is strong and sweet but has troublevadking for help. When the hot doctor moves into her street his persistence makes it hard to keep a clear head. This story is wonderful. I absolutely love this community and the complete storyline. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
Wow, Conflicted on 5th Avenue by Abbie St. Claire is one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading lately. Ian is a widower who has become too accustomed to sacrificing his wants and needs in order to care for his son. Chelsie is divorced with tons of scars and emotional baggage from the insensitive cloud she had the misfortune of being married to previously. Watching them struggle to reach one another is nothing short of captivating. This story develops so effortlessly I was knee deep in the twists and turns before I noticed. That coupled with how seamlessly it switched back and forth from each of their viewpoints made it a true pleasure to read. I also was very appreciative of how the sex scenes were written. They were extremely hot but also believable and and relatable for most readers. They engage in some bondage and wax play but he doesn't have his own dungeon or storage shed full of exotic toys. The Devil gives this book a well deserved 4.5 pitchforks
I received this for an honest review.. First off can I please say that Ian is my new book boyfriend.. First he is drop dead sexy, then he is moody and can be extremely unexpected then add on to that he is a single dad and puts his kid first..
Single dad Ian moves from California to Dallas to help his son by leaving the house and community that his late wife was a part of. Then he meets Chelsie two doors down and the sparks just start flying and then things get hot and sexy!!! WOW I fell in love with this book from the first page to the last cliffhanger moment!!!
I can not wait for the next book in this series!! I need it soon!!!
I bought this book last year and reread it this past weekend. I enjoyed this look into the relationship between Ian and Chelsie, single parents trying to move forward their pasts, and building new lives with their sons. I thought the book was well paced, characters were sympathetic, the story line very compelling. Both main characters had their faults that were real and their struggles were things I could relate to as a reader. This book is one of the few books I have read a second time and enjoyed as much as the first. I am so looking forward to re reading "Complicated..." and "Captivated..." Abbie, you are defiantly one of my favorite authors
I was sent this book in return for an honest review.
I loved this book. Abbie's writing style is like a fleecy blanket on a snowy day and characters are so well drawn it's like you've known and enjoyed their company for a long, long time.
Dr Briggs, (great last name, but I'm biased) is a single dad who moves to a new neighbourhood with hopes for his young son and meets divorced single mum Chelsie. They hit it off, but all is not plain sailing in their romance. I can't wait to read the next in the series see how all the characters develop....
*An ARC was provided in exchange of an honest review*
What an absolutely amazing start to this trilogy! It immediately pulled me in and held onto me from start to finish! Definitely a read that pulls at your emotions & makes it so easy to envision everything as if you are a part of the story. When a read makes it so that you can feel the ache, love, intensity & so much more, you know that you found a winner & that's what we have here! Can't wait for more!
As I read I was so thrilled to be reminded of what I once enjoyed with my late husband. We enjoyed a life time of love loving and laughter. I hope that Ian and Chelsea will be able to do the same.
I was not expecting such a deep, heartfelt story when I started this book!! Right after I finished it, I was thinking how long until Book Two comes out!
This story is about a charming, good looking doctor named Ian Briggs and beautiful Chelsie Peterson and how fate brought these two lovely people together. Ian is a widower and father to eight year old Oliver, living in Los Angeles. His life is good, his job is great but it’s been eight years since his wife’s death and he is thinking that maybe he needs more in his life for both he and Oliver. Oliver has no memories of his Mom since she died shortly after he was born, and normal for him is just him and his Dad.
By chance, an old friend and colleague of Ian’s called and told him there was an opening at his hospital in Dallas. Ian only went on the interview to appease his friend, and the next thing you know, he found himself packing and moving there. He accepted the job mostly because of Oliver since he thought it would do him good for a change of scenery and maybe a little bit for himself to get away from all the memories he was still holding onto in Los Angeles and the house that he lived in with his late wife.
As fate would have it, he moved into a house on 5th Avenue, and two houses down is where Chelsie lived with her young son Ty. Chelsie has been divorced for three years. She found out that her husband had been cheating on her. She was a happy person by nature, and keep busy with her shop and her son Ty; although, what could not be seen was the hurt she was still harboring from her divorce and she was basically closed off to any new relationships. She wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice and have her heart broken.
The first time Ian saw Chelsie he was sexually attracted to her and she to him but it was not going to be easy for either of them because they both were holding on to the heartache of their pasts, and this relationship could only work if each was able to come to terms with it. There are major obstacles for them along the way but there was also some really hot sex too! I highly recommend this lovely book of love lost, love found.
Rosie’s Book Heaven was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The first thing that attracted me to this book was that it was about a single father and any book that has that storyline is an instant read for me. I love the cuteness factor that children bring to a situation and the lure of a second chance love story pretty much sealed the deal.
Ian and his son Oliver move to a new city to have a fresh start in life, a new job, a new school and a new neighbourhood. All of this is a huge adjustment for them both but they are loving the family friendly 5th Avenue community and really glad to be a part of it.
One of the other things that Ian is enjoying is getting to know his cute new neighbour Chelsie. She too is a single parent, Ian thinks she is incredibly cute and is very attracted to her.
Chelsie’s ex really did a number on her confidence. Her self-esteem is at rock bottom and trusting any man with her heart and body does not come easy to her. She is definitely interested in Ian, in a more than friends way.
'I craved his touch, the feel of him kissing my skin, hearing the urgency in his breathy growls. At the same time, to care for him scared me'
The hardest part about getting into a new relationship with someone, where there are kids involved, is trying to do the right thing by everyone. You don't want to really introduce anyone new unless you are serious about them because it will affect the children as much as the adults.
I think that this is just beginning for this couple and I hope they are ready for the speed bumps ahead of them. This was a really sweet second chance love story with a very surprising level of sexy steamy too.
I really liked this book. It was sweet, sexy, fun, and a unique second chance love story for two people who are emotionally scarred. This is a new author for me (and perhaps to the writing world?!) and she totally blew me away with this book. This book had a nice flow to it and left me wanting more. I devoured this book in one sitting and I am super anxious for the next in the series.
This is Chelsie and Ian's story. Ian is a single dad still recovering years later from the death of his wife. He is unemotionally available to woman so he has purely physical relationships with them. never involving his son. But when a new opportunity arises to move and start fresh, he takes it. Chelsie is scarred from a terrible marriage and after being betrayed, she is broken. She is a single mom just trying to live day to day. But what neither expects is each other or the things that they feel together. As these two begin to get closer, the become conflicted. Will they take a chance on love again? Can they let go of the past and embrace the future?
I love Ian. Oh yes Dr. Yummy Pants was his nickname will reading this. I loved the build of their relationship and the chemistry between them. I love an older couple because they tend to be less rash about decisions and more mature in relationships. I like the banter between these two and the steam... yowza! Ian was HOT between the sheets. These two will also put you through a range of emotions with them as you will feel their hurt, betrayal, anger, sadness, and alas happiness. I cannot wait for more of Chelsie and Ian in the next book
This is the first book I've read by Abbie St. Claire & I will definitely be reading more. I loved it! Ian Briggs is a widower with a young son. His wife died in a car accident when Oliver, his son, was a few months old. After getting an offer from an old medical school classmate, Ian relocated from Seattle to Dallas.
Chelsie Peterson is a divorcee with a young son, Ty. Chelsie's ex-husband tried to convince her that she was the reason he cheated & he managed to badly dent her self confidence. She lives two houses down from Ian. They meet & the chemistry is instant & hot. Can Chelsie realize that a man can be interested? Can she regain her self confidence? Will Ian allow himself to be happy & will Oliver let him? Can Chelsie deal with Ian's light interest in BDSM?
I really enjoyed Abbie's writing style. The characters were well developed & relatable. The plot line had twists that aren't expected & keep you interested. The sex scenes were hot & steamy but not in poor taste. I will be reading more from Abbie!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain and heartbreak. This is a trilogy so be prepared to read all three parts.
This is Chelsie and Ian’s story. After losing his wife Ian has been living for his son. When his son is bullied in school and a new job opportunity comes up Ian moves. He meets Chelsie his neighbor and also a single parent. She is beautiful but has issues with her self-esteem. Her husband cheated and made her feel as though it was all her fault. Once Ian breaks her of that issue the issue of telling the kids they want a relationship comes up? What happens if the one you want will do anything for their child even if that means giving up on the new love they have found? Can you try and fight for what you know you could both have or should you let them go?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.
Conflicting priorities are the name of the game here. Two single parents trying to balance parenthood, work and their own lives. Ian and Chelsie find themselves drawn to each other but their children come first. Ian is still protecting his son from the loss of his mother, while Chelsie is still dealing with the aftermath of a barely there ex.
Ian exudes confidence in everything that he does, while Chelsie has had her confidence destroyed by her pig of an ex. It is going to take a lot for her to accept a relationship with anyone.
This will tug at the heartstrings throughout. It was at times frustrating with the both of them unsure of what they want at various points in the story and Ian's tendency to walk away when things get difficult.
Conflicted on 5th Avenue had me on edge, but for good reasons. Ian is hot and what girl wouldn't want a man who is there to satisfy her needs and not just his own. Chelsie is stubborn but she has reasons to not trust a man especially when she has been hurt before. Dr. Briggs is sex on a stick and what girl can say no to him. He makes you want things that you only imagine. Conflicted is a great read and i can't wait to find out what happens with them both can their feelings conquer the obstacles that have been put in their path. Will Oliver accept Chelsie?
A beautifully written story about a 2nd chance at love! Chelsie Peterson is trying to trust again after being burned by the man she was so deeply in love with. Dr Ian Briggs is trying to open his heart again after loosing the love of his life so tragically. Their incredibly attracted to one another and are both single parents; their children's well being comes first and foremost. Are they both willing to take the risk? This story is captivating from start to finish and it definitely pulls on the heartstrings. Looking forward to book 2 in the 5th Avenue Romance Trilogy
This was a great book! I really loved it. The first book I have read from Abbi St. Claire and it definitely made me want to read more! She is a wonderful author and I loved her writing. Ian and Chelsie are both single parents. Ian a widower and Chelsie divorced. Can they forge a relationship without jeopardizing their relationship with their sons? I have never read a story with this same storyline and was unsure, but I really enjoyed it and am excited for the next one.
Great story with a lot of unexpected back stories. I liked the little secret Chelsea and her male model. Ian was likable but he sometimes drove me crazy. Sometimes he appeared caring and supportive and then he would do something stupid. But I guess that's what made it a good story.
