I had a hard time finishing this one and thought about not doing so. I found the story convoluted and the more I read, the more convoluted it got. Some of this, I suspect, is the author's attempt to keep us from guessing whodunit too soon, but I didn't find it pleasurable. And my heart positively sank when the primary detective's personal life got more and more involved. I hate it when a supposed good guy isn't so good after all, and how the author intends to have a Book 2 in this series after what the DCI did, I don't know. I am a little curious about that, but I don't think I am curious enough to read another in the series because I just didn't really enjoy this one.
