3 1/2 overall but almost a 4 considering Ellie is a young author and this is her first book. I love the connection between the characters and keeping God front and center for them. A sweet coming of age story where love between the two main characters is blossoming, and I liked that Ellie had them as friends first and foremost. She balances the joys of excitement for small things with the struggles teenagers can also have between friends, family and fears that creep in. She shows that seeking help from others can be a good thing and we all need that support. Then she takes a more serious turn and while maybe keeps some of what could have been harder parts of that storyline on the lighter side, she has a good grasp of how Faith, family and friends can carry us through. There was some repetition in some of her thoughts and many extra characters brought in later that I got a little confused with, but a very good first writing and even left us with a cliffhanger to anticipate her next book!

Ellie did a great job of showing the reader exactly how the characters felt. I loved that she kept God at the forefront of the story. I enjoyed the story and am excited to see what happens in the next book since this one ends with a cliffhanger!
