Glow up Miss Rhapsody! After putting on some weight after an illness, Rhapsody’s boyfriend began to move funny, triggering her women’s intuition. After learning he was on that good bull ish, she got the hell outta dodge and left him in her rearview. Meeting Blaze was casual, but the chemistry was there. Both decided that they didn’t want anything serious, they agree to a benefits package. 😜
Blaze does not trust women after his ex, burned him. However, after meeting Rhapsody something in him shifts, and he is more willing to explore a relationship. They were cute with the push and pull, as Blaze seems to be falling first. Rhapsody is adamant about having some alone time to get her mind and body right, before jumping into something new. Blaze couldn’t do anything but respect it. However, when the time came, he went and got his girl. Cute read! 👍🏾👍🏾
Rhapsody had been going through it and a health issue that she was finally recovering from had left her with extra weight and body insecurities. To top it off her so called boyfriend was of no help. There was no encouragement from him and then the height challenged average man had the nerve to betray her while she was down. Rhapsody was hurt, but she stepped forward knowing she had to work on herself. She met Blaze along the way and he was fire just like his name. However, she wasn't in the headspace for more. I enjoyed their friends with benefits situation and appreciated that Rhapsody refused to rush her healing process. It made it that much more sweet when they finally became more.
I absolutely loved the cover.
SN: I was over the ex popping up, it's like Bye Roger with a punch in the jaw because he was annoying me.
I like dynamic between the characters their banter back-and-forth was pretty good and ending just made the story I would say pretty good Keith book Korner
JEREMIAH GOT EVERYTHING HE DESERVED FOR THE WAY HE TRIED TO PLAY RHAPSODY. EFFING MAN BOOB HAVING 🤡 🤣🤣🤣
ALTHOUGH NO ONE SHOULD LOSE THEIR LIFE IN THE WAY THAT ANDREA LOST HERS. HER KARMA CAME IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE. SHE DIDN’T LEARN HER LESSON WHEN SHE DID WHAT SHE DID TO BLAZE AND HE LET HER WALK AWAY WITH HER LIFE. I GET SHE WISH SHE NEVER CROSSED THE NEXT MAN IN THE SAME WAY CAUSE HE WASN’T AS FORGIVING🤷🏽♀️
RHAPSODY & BLAZE ❤️🔥. THESE TWO WERE BOTH DONE FOR BY THE EXES BUT WERE BOTH ON THEIR HEALING AND LIVING THE SINGLE LIFE ERA. BLAZE WANTED SO MUCH MORE FOR HER AND I LOVED HIM FOR TALKING A STEP BACK FROM THEIR FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS ARRANGEMENT AND ALLOWING HER TIME TO TRULY HEAL AND FIGURE OUT WHAT SHE WANTED. I WAS SO PROOF OF HER FOR STANDING HER GROUND WITH THAT MITCH JEREMIAH AND TRULY FALLING IN LOVE WITH HERSELF🙌🏽. HER AND BLAZE CHEMISTRY WAS FELT THROUGH THE PAGES AND I TRULY ENJOYED THEIR JOURNEY TO LOVE🫶🏽.
This story is a reminder that sometimes the glow-up isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, mental, and rooted in self-respect.
Rhapsody loved Jeremiah for two years. She stayed, she adjusted, she endured. But when steroids caused weight gain and her body changed, so did his loyalty. Hearing him justify his cheating to a side chick by calling her “no longer attractive” was the moment everything shattered—and also the moment Rhapsody finally chose herself.
What I loved most about this story is how real Rhapsody’s healing felt. She didn’t bounce back overnight. She mourned the relationship she thought she had. She sat in the grief. She carried the hurt. And still… she kept moving forward.
Enter Blaze.
Confident. Cocky. Devilishly fine. And most importantly—attracted to her exactly as she is. Blaze saw Rhapsody and didn’t see a woman who needed to change. He saw thick. He saw sexy. He saw worth. Their connection was fun, messy, and very grown. While Blaze caught feelings fast, Rhapsody stayed honest about wanting freedom, pleasure, and joy after heartbreak—and I respected that.
The Valentine’s Day hotel twist? Chef’s kiss. Blaze wanting her all to himself—not out of control, but intention—showed that sometimes men don’t just want you… they claim you. And Rhapsody choosing to say yes—to being his Valentine and his girlfriend—felt earned, not rushed.
Jeremiah popping back up once Rhapsody started thriving was painfully accurate. Men who justify cheating by blaming attraction always seem to want access again once they realize you’re no longer available. But Rhapsody wasn’t the same woman anymore. She learned that a man doesn’t always have to say he doesn’t want you—his actions will speak loud enough.
This book is for anyone who’s ever been body-shamed, betrayed, underestimated, or made to feel small in love—and then decided to get their lick back by choosing themselves.
You got sick and ended up having to take steroids to get better. The steroids caused an increase in appetite which lead to a little weight gain. You’ve been self conscious about the weight and was scheduled to start with a trainer in a week. Decide to pop up on your boyfriend only to hear him in the bathroom whispering to “bae” how he not attracted to you no more, you’re fat and he don’t even touch you no more. He never knew you were there. You end things. You’re heartbroken.
Your sister invites you to a cookout. You end up answering your ex call, “HE” overhears your conversation. You turn around and realize it and now you’re embarrassed. Blaze aka “HE” says that nigga was a fool to even speak on you like that. You and Blaze start a thing that’s not a thing but you’re adamant on healing and just going with the flow. One thing leads to another and well….
"Love comes in all forms, and the absence of love from one person doesn’t dictate our worth or our value. I had truly learned that when you love yourself and have people around you who respect you, Valentine’s Day is just a bonus."
I truly enjoyed Rapsody finding herself again. I love how she put herself first, and despite her feelings, she stuck to her guns. Blaze was exactly what she needed.
I appreciate the way Natisha showcased how a good woman can make a man see his true potential. Blaze surprised himself at the things he was willing to do for Rapsody because in the past, he wasn't that kind of guy.
This book was the true definition of, "On man trash, is another man's
This was a short read, but it gave everything it needed to. 5/5 stars for me.
Short little novella about a woman named Rhapsody learning how to heal and grow from a heartbreak. During the era of singleness she meets Blaze. A very determined and loving person that opens up her heart to give love another try.
Okay Rhapsody with the glow up !! This was a quick story and wish we were given a little more but… . I love that she left and didn’t look back she was able to loose weight and do things for her self that made her feel better ! Nothing like self love ❤️ If you don’t feel good about yourself how you expect someone else .
“The love between a man and woman was different than love between friends and family, but not having love from a man didn’t make a woman less than. And it didn’t mean that she wasn’t worthy or good enough. The right man just hadn’t found her and being alone was better than settling.”
Rhapsody’s sorry ass ex really did a number on her confidence. But Blaze is available to meet her where she is and help her restore her confidence. Matter of fact Blaze wants to fulfill all her needs. But Rhapsody wants to be whole before she accepts what Blaze has to offer.
This was a decent read; however, Andrea’s storyline served no purpose and there was no point in Blaze’s POV about what had just happened between him and Rhapsody - it was a waste of a chapter.
Never let a 5’9 man play in your face! 😂 He had audacity ! This was very good! It made me sad that her self-esteem was so low. Like too low. Shoutout to Blaze
Tropes: Rebound (Adjacent), He falls first, African American Romance, Urban
Come Pick Up Your Clothes by Natasha Raynor is just as funny as the title implies! Ms. Raynor gives her readers a robust and mature story about rebounding from a messy love affair without having to enter a “rebound” relationship. Rhapsody has been a loyal girlfriend to her longtime mediocre boyfriend, Jeremiah. Due to health issues and medication, Rhapsody has gained a few pounds and realizes that Jeremiah is low-key, not as ardent as he was in the beginning and before the weight gain. Determined to talk about their drifting apart, Rhapsody overhears Jeremiah’s true feelings about her and her body. Walking away with dignity but fractured self-esteem, she decides to work on herself and leave dating and relationships on the back burner for now. Just as she reconciles to this stance, she meets a man who makes it hard to keep her resolve. Blaze is a successful businessman with a viable connection to his previous street persona. He handles his business in a discreet fashion but still has the smoke for any he considers an enemy. When he spies Rhapsody at a party at his house, he is very attracted but having been burned in love is not looking for a woman but soon finds that Rhapsody is different. As they become closer will Rhapsody take a chance on love with Blaze or has Jeremiah snuffed out her ability to trust in the passion that she could have with Blaze? Conclusion: Come Pick Up Your Clothes is a compact novella with only nine chapters but with a comprehensive story. I loved that Rhapsody put her needs first even when the extremely fine Blaze wanted more than the causal interactions, they signed on for😊. I also loved that Jeremiah got just what he deserved. Excellent, quick and fun to read!
Favorite Lines: His stomach was rounder than mine, and he had breasts. Just because she was on top didn’t mean she was in control Even with everything I had to keep me distracted, I still found myself sulking over Jeremiah’s bitch ass, and I hated it. Maybe I should have just burst in the bathroom that night and beat his ass, so we could skip the denial and games. I wanted him to accept what I didn’t even accept myself. https://theretiredreader.com/f/come-p...
❛❜ When Jeremiah broke my heart, it literally felt like my world was ending. But the blessing that came from his cruelty was worth every tear that I cried. And while I loved Blaze with everything in me, if we ended that day, I’d be sad. But I wouldn’t feel like life was over because I knew better. Love comes in all forms and the absence of love from one person doesn’t dictate our worth or our value. I had truly learned that when you love yourself and have people around you that respect you, Valentine’s Day is just a bonus. ❛❜
this story was beautiful written, i loved everything about it. the way that Blaze saw how beautiful she was from the inside and especially the outside, i already knew Blaze would be the one. all ima say is Jeremiah isn’t shiiiittttt, and he’s such a punk. any man that can talk mess about their ‘girl’ to another female is weird to me. she deserved so much better, i saw myself in Rhapsody..i honestly do. there were times in where i was insecure with my body, and i wasn’t getting the type of attention that other females weee giving..but i had to love MYSELF, before i got to love anybody else. i loved how Rhapsody made sure she loved herself first before she got herself involved with a man. when Blaze and Rhapsody started seeing each other, i was like ‘yess😛🤏🏽’ because let’s be for real..she deserves that. ALSOOOO, cmon now?! can we talk about what Blaze did for Valentine’s day!? SOOO romantic, and i love it. I loved how he also stuck up for her, and he also gave her space. he also went through something with his girlfriend too..but he didn’t let that stop him, im happy about how it ended with them. this story was pretty short, but i wouldn’t change anything about it. Blaze the man you are…😌
This was a quick, fun read that had me smiling the entire time. Can we all agree that when God was handing out audacity, Jeremiah jumped back in line for seconds, thirds and probably asked for a to go plate too? The way this man moved had me shaking my head every single chapter.
I loved watching Rhapsody choose herself after heartbreak. Instead of immediately jumping into another relationship, she focused on healing, rediscovering herself and figuring out what she deserved. That journey felt authentic and relatable.
Blaze 🥰 Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder because that man saw exactly what he wanted and wasted absolutely no time going after it. His pursuit of Rhapsody wasn’t about games or confusion. He was intentional and confident. Providing the best massages lol. Messed around and got hooked talmbout he wasn't going to be a rebound. She made that nonchalant man CHALANT 😂😂.
This story was light, entertaining and packed with just enough romance to keep me invested. If you’re looking for a quick read with a heroine finding her footing after heartbreak, this one is worth picking up.
🎶Jeremiah Sir respectfully, come pick up your clothes and your audacity too. 🎶 or whatever Kehlani said 🎤

Whew… this one had me in my feelings and a little irritated at the same time in a good way 😩
Jeremiah was annoying asf from beginning to end. Like sir… PLEASE go somewhere. His insecure, manipulative energy had me wishing Blaze would’ve just did his aggy ass in and kept it moving. He really played a huge role in Rhapsody doubting herself, and I hated that for her because she deserved so much better.
Now Blaze? Baby Blaze was EVERYTHING. The way he built Rhapsody up, reassured her, and helped her see her worth again… yeah, that’s the kind of energy we love to see. He was patient, protective, and exactly what she needed after dealing with Jeremiah’s nonsense. Their chemistry felt natural and soft, and I loved watching Rhapsody slowly come back into herself.
I will say though… it may just be me, but I felt like there could’ve been a little more. More depth, more moments, just a bit more time with the characters. But at the same time, nothing was missing in a way that took away from the story it still flowed well and kept me invested the whole time.
Overall, this was a solid read with drama, growth, and a love interest that actually showed up the right way. If you like stories about healing, finding your confidence again, and a man that knows how to treat a woman right… definitely pick this one up.
Rhapsody wasn’t feeling good about herself at all and the meds she was on added twenty‑five pounds, and her self‑esteem was already fragile. She convinced herself her boyfriend didn’t want her anymore because of how she looked. Then she walked into his house and overheard him on the phone with another woman, confirming everything she feared.
Blaze, meanwhile, is a man who handles his business. Being the generous person he is, he let a friend use his house for a BBQ. When he spotted Rhapsody, he made his way outside to meet her, and things took off from there.
Blaze and Rhapsody started as friends, but that friendship slowly grew into something deeper. Something neither of them claimed they wanted, but both clearly needed.

Whenever I want a good read, Natisha Raynor is my go to. And this book is no different. It's a cute, Valentines Day type story, although this book would be good to read at any time. For me, it was a nice "pallet cleanser". There's not a lot of drama, and I love how Rhapsody handled the situation with the Ex! *Spoiler...Spoiler....Spoiler....It was refreshing to see her simply walk away and leave his ass instead of crashing out! She took the disrespect on the chin, got herself together and DEFINITELY got her lick back without even trying! There is some weight shamming by the ex in the beginning, but Rhapsody uses it as motivation. Once Blaze sets his eyes on her, it's a wrap!
Yes hunni, I loved everything about this Novella. Short, sweet, and so damn good. Listen, I'll take Blaze for $200 Alex. That's a good man Savannah!!!
Rhapsody was hurt more by what Jeremiah said than what he did. Body shaming is a real thing and people can be cruel, but my girl put in the work and was breaking necks at every turn. Blaze didn't care about any of that. He always thought she was bad, but he encouraged her to do the work for herself and no one else.
One man's trash is definitely another man's treasure. Be mindful how you treat your woman!
The cover is cute. The concept is cute but some of the inside left a little bit to be desired. This book was very heavy on weight. From the FMC feeling fat at 190lbs to the focus on weight loss the MMC insisting she's thick not fat to the reveal of.her being 150 or 170lbs by the end it all left a stale taste in my mouth.
Sometimes I would like it of the FMC is called fat and it's ok. Like you know what she is fat instead of thick. She's still considered gorgeous and with love. That made me hold back a bit. But the spice scenes were good and the characters were well drawn.
A literary gem that tickles the intellectual taste buds and leaves readers craving more intellectual
I'm struggling to find the perfect words about this book. But honestly? I totally loved it. First time reading Raynor's work, and she killed it! She's all about helping you heal and recognize your own value. It's like she's saying you gotta know yourself and figure out what you really want. The big takeaway? You attract what you put out there, so don't give up on yourself. Sometimes your moment to shine is right in front of you, and it doesn't have to involve anyone else. Just focus on loving yourself, and all that toxic stuff will bounce right off you.
