Hot Summer

Hot Rival Summer

Rate this book
Jett
Anything I’ve ever wanted, I always lost out to Wilkin Hurst, my lifelong rival.

It all just comes so easily to him. To make matters worse, he's perpetually unbothered. Calm, focused, methodical, with a smug smirk I'd love to wipe off his stupidly handsome face.

I'm sick of playing second fiddle to him. So of course, I'm thrilled to be cooped up in the same house as him for the summer *eye roll*. I can already tell this is going to be the worst summer ever.

Wilkin
If Jett didn't have it in for me, I could see us being friends. Maybe even more than just friends, if I had my way. He's fiery and wild and everything I secretly wish I was.

After witnessing a crime, we're forced into protective relocation for the summer. Any fantasy I had that we could put our lifelong rivalry behind us is shattered with the arrival of Reeve, the long-haired, tanned version of Bear Grylls. Because Jett and I are back doing what we've done all our lives—competing for the same thing.

Reeve
What on earth is my grandmother doing letting two grown men stay with her in witness protection? Two very attractive grown men, who pique my interest the moment I meet them. They're young, blond, and insanely gorgeous. And they both seem hellbent on winning me over.

Not that I'm complaining. A summer fling (or two) before heading back out on my shipwreck-diving, jungle-cutting, shark-circling adventures sounds good to me. All I have to do is make sure I don't fall in love with them. How hard could that be?

Not Summer Book 4
MMM Romance
Spicy Summer Novella
Rivals to Lovers
Forced Proximity
Multiple POV'S

Fun, short and spicy with a romance set in the story of two work rivals, having to be hidden away after witnessing at attack together and falling for the guy hosting their hideaway as well as each other. A cute little read that I enjoyed but at times felt a little rushed but understandably to keep it less than 100 pages.

Cute little MMM novella. Wasn’t much to it, just a simple story for a quick summer read.

It was all rushed, focused on unnecessary things (like Granny flying a helicopter) instead of the romance between the three of them.

This was a short, entertaining, and spicy tale with Jett and Wilkin going into witness protection after witnessing a crime in LA, waiting for the trial. They end up on an estate on the outskirts of the town of Cumcircle (of book 1 fame), hosted by a grandmother and her adventurer grandson, Reeve. Jett and Wilkin have a rocky history, but the weeks together give them a chance to resolve past differences, admit to a mutual attraction to each other AND to their host Reeve, then both hook up with the handsome Reeve for some enjoyable times, and maybe a lot longer if life changes allow.

I enjoyed the snarky banter between Jett and Wilkin, with Reeve playing the adult in the room and the peacemaker. Finding out the two had common ground from their past helped them get over the animosity which had festered for years, opening both up to the possibility of more with Reeve as a working throuple. Reeve’s grandmother was a surprising old lady, keeping the three guys on their toes, with skills of her own. Light, low angst, entertaining read for an enjoyable hour or two.

4.5 stars. An awesome 85-page m/m/m read.

Jett and Wilkin are part of the crew of the reality TV show Keeping Up With the Veterinarians.
They were witnessing a violent act by one of the producers, and are now in a temporary protective relocation, for their safety.

It could be worse but it absolutely isn’t. They will be with an old lady and her grandson Reeve.
Jett and Wilkin can’t stand each other. Jett accuses Wilkin of taking away his opportunities in life and of being first in everything. If he only knew.

Reeve is intrigued by the hostility between Wilkin and Jett, mostly coming from Jett btw.
Grandma suggests Reeve takes the two men hiking and stay in a cabin for a few days.
Maybe they will come closer.

Oh boy did they come closer, not only the two of them, no, all three.

It’s a short story, but, as always with this author’s stories, it felt longer.
Overall, a fast-paced and flawlessly written narrative, sexy, emotional, and fun.

Wonderful

Hot Rival Summer is one of my favorite books in the Hot Summer Series. Jett and Wilkin grew up in the same trailer park, both poor, both having to fight for everything they have in life. Jett has hated Wilkin for years thinking that he’s taken everything from him. After witnessing a crime both men are sent to a small little town where they meet Reeve.
Reeve is infatuated with both men. He decides his going to do his best to figure out what’s going on between the two and bridge the gap. Jett finally learns the truth after an injury and well things get spicy. ❤️‍🔥
This book is about learning not everything is what it seems, finding truth and understanding. Also that there’s always room for improvement and your heart can love more than one person. This whole series has been wonderful. Casey Cox has done a wonderful job. 5 stars 🌟 for an amazing, well written book. 💜❤️

Enemies to lovers to everything
Jett and Wilkin work together. There is rivalry between them and it doesn’t matter what Wilkin does Jett just see Red.
When they witness a crime, they are sent a way to keep them safe and this is where they meet Reeves. Both of them are attracted to him but will their rivalry ruin everything??
I just felt like this was a nice book. I enjoyed the storyline. It took me awhile to like Jett to understand why he hates Wilkins but I am glad that Reeves decided that he was gonna get these two talking. So what’s the worst that can happen with a bottle of vodka and a game or truth or dare???
I am glad of The epilogue because I had thought of that as a way to make things work. And I do like Reeves‘s grandmother what a dark horse.

3.5* I liked this one more than the others I think because it wasn't just 85 pages of banging. LOL There was slightly more plot. I wasn't quite sure why Jett had such a chip on his shoulder. As if Wilkin somehow purposely stole jobs from him or scholarships. But you apply and do you think the other guy should have refused and handed it to you? It doesn't work that way. I appreciated that Reeve kind of forced them to get along... in all ways. hehehe

So I liked this one a bit more. It was rivals to lovers but they were mostly rivals in Jett's mind and not so much in reality as Wilkin was helping him out. This are light and fluffy and quick and mostly heavy on the spice but they are enjoyable enough reads when you want a short book.

Review of advance copy

Big fan of the Hot Summer novellas but this one missed the mark a bit for me. I didn’t particularly like Jett or understand his hatred for Wilkin. I also think everything happened so quickly. Sure, it’s a novella, but the other HS books have fit an entire story in under 90 pages. This one felt rushed. Still enjoyable, just not my favourite.

Thank you Booksprout for the ARC. This review is honest and voluntary.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked this steamy story where witness protection for Jett and Wilkin leads to them revealing they love each other with the help of Reeve. Their love expands to include Reeve. I liked how they worked out things to be together. Reeve's grandmother is great.

Hot Rival Summer is the fourth book in the Hot Summer series and can be read as a standalone. This was an okay rivals to lovers mmm book about rivals Jett and Wilkin, who, after witnessing a crime, meet Reeves and decide to fight over him too. Luckily it doesn't take long for them all to figure out that you don't need to fight over one when you can just all be together.

I loved this story. I loved Jett's sassy, out there personality. Wilkins softer, golden retriever energy. Reeve's fun and modest. I loved the dynamic between the three of them.
