“God doesn’t want perfect. He wants whatever you have when you come to him. Even if it’s a mess. He mostly wants an open heart. Someone who is willing to trade control over their lives for the very best God has for them, which is so much better.”

This delightful marriage of convenience, he falls first story has lots of family, gentle faith, a little danger, a sweet romance, and a big surprise.

Clara is gentle, caring, and tender-hearted. My heart broke for her with the way her mother treated her. I loved that Clara discovered her inner strength and her creativity. I loved seeing her able to take care for Kate. I loved the things she learned about love, belonging, and being know. I enjoyed her journey from respecting to caring to loving Robert. Robert is quiet, intelligent, and protective. I loved how he shared his faith with Clara and that he admitted he had areas that needed improvement. I loved his gentleness and patience with Clara and that he treats her like a precious gift even when he’s hiding his true feelings. I loved that when Clara showed interest in him he let his walls down and let her in close. They definitely found a tender, sweet love.
I love the bond between Robert and his brothers, how they tease and stand by each other. I love how the family dynamic keeps growing and changing to include the wives and yet there is true harmony, love, and support. Such a fantastic family and I’m looking forward to Nathan’s story.

A few more quotes:
“Robert.” James’s voice came quieter than Thomas’s. “Have you told her?” “Told her what?” “That you love her.”

“Doctor said the fever broke. I’m on the mend. Didn’t say I had to stay in bed till I grew roots.”

“I love you. I love you so much it terrifies me.”

Note: This is book 4 in the series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone. The series MMCs are brothers and they live at the same ranch so the books are definitely connected.

Content Rating: 4.18
Romance: 3.9 (It's close to describing but mostly not...I will admit I almost always jump an6 kisses in any book.) (longer kissing, touching, snuggling etc. [kissing on the jaw.])
Violence: 4 (some blood, but really, it wasn't shown.)
Faith: 5 (clear)
Profanity/Language: 5 (None)
Youth Appropriate: 3 (General)

Personal Rating: 5 (I read the first bit of it in one sitting, and the rest of it (most of it actually) in one other sitting)

(If there is ever any confusion with my rating system check in my bio)

Synopsis:

Thoughts:
Wow.
This was an amazing story, one that I have been waiting for since book one came out. I love how it seems to match the characters in the sense that it's not as packed full of danger as some of the others, but is quiter, more observant, and gentle. I love Robert and Clara, and they both seem to go together so well!
My jaw literally dropped twice.
I do feel like Nathan's back story is a little contrived, or rather, too quick to feel real. But, I also feel that in the next book he will be fleshed out really well.
This following quote, I think, is the perfect culmination to the first four books, and the brothers:

The eldest brother, who watched the horizon, was terrified of failing those he loved. The second brother’s laughter covered grief he’d finally mourned. The third brother’s steady hands masked a fear of being seen as weak. The youngest’s restlessness came from not knowing where he fit.
They were all learning the same lesson. That being known—truly known—was the most terrifying and necessary thing in the world. That love wasn’t something you earned through perfection. It was something you received by letting yourself be seen and understood.
That home was not the place you came from. It was the place you built with people you loved.

Thank you Misty. Beller for the free ARC copy of this book. All the thoughts in this review are my own.

Clara McKinney and Robert Balfour find themselves in a marriage of convenience. Her sister married her intended groom, (a Balfour brother), and Clara caught a long lasting illness. Clara and her sister had traveled as far West as they could to get away from their conniving, manipulative mother. Robert took care of everything (he was the only one who was immune) from trying to feed her, to reading to her on a regular basis, sometimes several times a day. He just wanted to take care of this woman who had stolen his heart! When Clara starts coming around, they realize that they will need to get married to save her reputation. He convinces her that he will be the perfect gentleman. After their short wedding ceremony, he brings her to the Balfour Ranch, where all of his brothers live, and some are working on building their own houses for their brides. Every day, Robert shows her more and more of their property and takes her on picnics, etc. And every day, Clara falls more and more in love with the family, the magnificent land, and with Robert. But, she still had not told him when a man appears at their door claiming to be another Balfour son. None of them believed him, but Clara could see parts of each of the other brothers in the man. Quite the commotion upends the family shortly after his arrival. It must be their Dad’s jealous brother who had chased this man from England to try to set up traps to kill the boys so HE can have all of the property! I think this was my favorite book of the Balfour brothers. It has EVERYTHING in it and I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what would happen next. At the same time, I tried to slow down my reading speed, because I knew this was the last brother. Ms. Beller is an amazing author and writes such intriguing and fascinating stories! ARC Review: Mail Order Lady by Misty M. Beller

I have really enjoyed following this family throughout the series, and Mail Order Lady was another sweet addition to their story.

This series follows a group of young brothers who fled England with their mother and caregivers because their family was in danger. Their mother is no longer living, but Bea has stepped into that motherly role and has been such an important part of keeping this family together.

What I love most about these books is that they are about so much more than the romance. Each brother finds his wife, but we also get to see how she becomes part of the family and how the family grows and changes with each new relationship. The bond between the brothers is one of my favourite parts.

This book brings some unexpected circumstances, some struggles that really test their faith, and a surprise family connection that I definitely wasn’t expecting. I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil it!

I also really enjoy how faith is woven naturally throughout the story. These characters don’t have everything figured out, but they continue to learn what it means to trust God when things don’t go according to plan.

If you’ve been following this series, I think you’ll enjoy getting to know another brother’s story and seeing how the family continues to grow. And if you’re new to the series, there is a lot of family history here that makes these books so fun to follow from one brother to the next.

Another enjoyable read from Misty M. Beller! ❤️

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

The amazing Lords of the Rockies series just keeps getting better with the addition of this hard-to-put-down read! At the heart of the series is the captivating premise about the Balfour brothers, of English aristocratic birth, who are now ranchers in the rugged late 1800s Montana Territory. Robert is the quiet, steady brother who I have loved from the beginning! I was so excited for his story, and it is now my favorite of the series. Robert and Clara are a precious couple. He loved her long before she came to know her own heart, and I totally enjoyed the tender development of their marriage of convenience relationship. An expertly plotted storyline featuring emotional family drama with a major revelation that may deeply transform the family's future, compelling and memorable characters, and a gentle, meaningful faith thread all encased in a beautifully painted western setting made this an enjoyable, engaging read for me. I highly recommend this book and the series.

Clara and Robert have for a long time, been attracted to each other, but both are afraid to admit it. Then circumstances occur! Claras mom is trying to force Clara to return home to an arranged marriage to a man way too old for her. In order to protect Clara, Robert offers marriage and Clara accepts. Is this God's way of get them together and paving the way to their admission of live for each other? After all, now they're married and bound together for life. Then enters a stranger who insists he is the oldest Balfour brother. How could this possibly be true? Are they all in danger? Does the danger arise from the cousin who is fight for the title or Claras mother, in order to force Clara to accept the arranged marriage that will preserve her mother's place in society? Another intriguing, inspirational romance romance. If you haven't met the Balfour family yet, you need to read the rest of the series. Be prepared to get swept up in their lives and not want to let go until the last word is read. Then wait impatiently for the next book to come out!

I'm really enjoying this series and this story doesn't disappoint! Robert is the quiet, serious bookkeeper of the Balfour brothers. Kate and Clara are sisters that came to the ranch answering a request for a mail order Bride. Nothing went as it was supposed to. Clara ended up very ill and since Robert has already suffered from the same thing as a child, he becomes her caretaker. Clara is just as quiet as Robert so getting to know each other would have been difficult except that Robert has to keep Clara from becoming bored as she lies in bed for weeks. This new book opens with Robert taking Clara to see her mother, someone Clara is afraid of. So many things happen in this story it allows us to get to more about the Balfour brothers. Full of suspense, romance and danger, I had problems staying awake trying to keep my eyes open so I could keep reading because the story is so great! Totally recommend to other readers that enjoy this type of book, that also has Christian guidance, no swearing, or serial overtones.

Mail-Order Lady #4 Lords of the Rockies by Misty Beller

May 1870 Fort Benton, Montana Territory
Clara McKinney and Robert Balfour have grown close since her illness. As they explore a possible future, Clara's mother arrives demanding she return home to the unwanted future she has planned for Clara. Robert has an unexpected solution; which Clara agrees to. Of course, her mother threatens to go to any length to see that Clara obeys her, regardless of her marriage. Then a stranger shows up with a surprising and unbelievable claim.

There is so much to this story that captured my heart. Clara and Robert are my favorite characters in this story, along with many others. I love the Belfour family and how they support each other, work together and their strong faith. Disappointments, danger, new beginnings, love and faith, learning to trust God in all areas A heartwarming story.

~I bought the e-book and I received ARC copy from the author/publisher via BookFunnel (no monetary gain was exchanged), this is my honest review~

Robert Balfour, the steady and quiet brother, has been in love with Clara ever since he stayed by her side while she had scarlet fever. So, when Clara's mother shows up, demanding she return home to fulfill a marriage contract, Robert doesn't hesitate to offer to marry her.

Clara McKinney came west with her sister Kate in response to a mail-order bride advertisement. When that arrangement did not work out, Clara felt she had lost her chance to be part of the Balfours. Saying yes to Robert would give her a real place in the family and at the ranch she has already begun to think of as home.

Mail-Order Lady is the fourth book in Misty M. Beller's Lords Of The Rockies series. I enjoyed Robert and Clara's story. I liked their sweet connection as well as hers and Kate's. I love this family and always look forward to learning more about them.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.

This is book 4 of the Lords of the Rockies series. I've been waiting for Robert's story and it was everything I imagined and more!

Robert is my favorite of the brothers! He's quiet and observant. He's also protective and his loved ones think that he tends to worry a bit too much. Clara is adorable, loyal and compassionate. They both face trials during this story. Fortunately, those trials make them stronger.

The Balfour family is such a tight-knit group. The brothers can read subtle signs and they work hard to keep their women safe. The women are strong and capable too. Each one does their part to protect the family. A stranger shows up and his news could change their circumstances drastically.

Every book in this series is gut wrenching and perfect but this book is so special. It is a love story betweenRobert and Clara. Book three starts their path towards each other. This book ties up some loose ends. It is so much more complicated. A new Balfour is introduced to us. Nathan Balfour. His story is compelling and difficult. It brings up more questions that will hopefully be answered in a future book. This book is about finding home and family. The epilogue sums it up perfectly. Misty Beller does an amazing job with the characters and storyline. She is very talented in describing the landscape making you feel like you are present in their world. Clara writes a story about a princess who find home.

Another delightful journey to the Balfour ranch for the spine tingling tale of finding love and all it's entanglements. Brother #3 is the quiet type and slow on the uptake when it comes to admitting his attraction to the opposite sex. It will demonstrate the grief which comes if one is too slow on the reins when claiming someone you truly love. There will again be conniving with family members, to destroy this dynasty, while our brothers find there is another brother they did not know about. A very interesting and enticing story, a perfect follow-up to the previous books in the series. It certainly makes one yearn for the mountains and the restfulness within.

Clara arrived at the Balfour ranch with her sister Kate, fleeing an ugly future arranged marriage. She contracts scarlet fever, and is nursed for weeks by scholarly Robert Balfour, who's had the illness. They come to be good friends. Robert accompanies Clara to Fort Benton, where her controlling mother is set to arrive. He stands strong at her side, and plans an arranged marriage between them to thwart yet another attempt to control Clara. Their slow romance is sweet. A new "brother" arrives at the ranch, bringing fresh questions and intrigue to the story. The book is another engaging addition to this series.

I have to admit, I have not read a Misty M. Beller book that I didn't absolutely love. And yes, this was another. The story was great. I loved the main characters, Robert and Clara. Robert is a steady force for good and Clara is just the perfect match for him. But Clara's mother would definitely kick up a fuss! She has a husband in mind for Clara and seems to go to great lengths to get her way! A surprise character appears that I won't mention and let other readers discover. This book was a must read for me. I love the series and am looking for what book 5 will bring!

This is another realistic story by Misty Beller and the continued saga of the Balfour brothers. Clara originally came to the mountains as a mail order bride but that didn’t work out as she had hoped. She becomes quite ill and it’s Robert, the third Balfour brother, that tends to her as she recuperates. Clara’s domineering mother appears unexpectedly stating Clara needs to return home to an arranged marriage, so Robert steps in with a plan to keep Clara at the ranch. There are several challenges that lie ahead for both of them as they learn to trust each other and figure out that home is what you build with the ones you love.

I have loved Robert and his quiet, steady ways throughout this series. Both Robert and Clara seemed to observe and see things more clearly than some of the others. I enjoyed this book thoroughly, as Robert and Clara took days-long journeys and worked through family difficulties and sicknesses. They stood strong and supported each other and quietly loved each other. It was so sweet when they finally started showing that love for each other. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

This book took me a little bit to remember the characters but once I did I loved everything about the story!

I love that these Balfour men have such respect for God, family and their land.

It was so fun to get reacquainted with characters from previous books.

This book focused on Robert and Clara. Robert is kind of quiet but feels things deeply. Clara is such a sweet character who steadfastly delivers compassion to those around her!

Clara and Robert marry for convenience. But what Clara does not know is Robert gave his heart to her when he first saw her when he helped nurse her back to health. Now he wants to shield her from her mother’s demanding nature. This is a story of unselfish love and determination to shield the one he loves. In return Clara is wooed by his constant show of putting his needs before his and as her love for him begins to flourish and grow she in turn puts his needs before others. A story that is a great example of how God wants us to treat one another.

I think this is my favorite so far! Both characters were really relatable and learning to surrender all control, absolutely everything, to God was an encouraging reminder as you read through their story. Clara and Robert’s story was so sweet! This story will leave you at the edge of your seat at times, hanging on for just one more chapter. I could scarcely put it down! I can’t wait for the next book to be released!

This is the fourth book in Misty Beller’s Lord of the Rockies series. Get ready for a wilder ride than usual. I expected the first plot twist, but the second one was a real shocker! No snowstorms in this book, but there’s plenty of other issues for the characters to deal with, as well as nasty characters out to mess up the lives of the Balfour brothers. Once again, the main characters need to learn to trust each other, trust God, and put their fears into God’s hands.

As always, the story was very spellbinding and hard to put down. Misty has a way of weaving her characters into the most interesting situations. Robert and Clara encounter challenges that keep weaving them closer together. There’s always a new challenge around the corner for the family. It’s through togetherness and love that they survive these challenges and learn to understand what God has in store for them. Life is not perfect but to love and be loved is a blessing.

Clara and Robert have a quaint romance that is beautiful and marked by a powerful dedication to each other. The whole family loves and protects each other from a powerful enemy. I love this entire series!

Another visit to Montana Territory 1870. I was quickly immersed in the story of Robert Balfour and Clara McKinney. I loved that they were both quieter personalities within the broader family. Their steadfastness to family and similar values made for a great contrast to the various forms of disruptions set before them. Loved every plot twist in this story! Sometimes love is not about the loud and grand but quiet and steady.

Another awesome story by Misty Beller who is an amazing writer. She knows how to weave characters together while telling a story. This book is part of the Lords of the Rockies series. Mail Order Lady is the fourth book in the series. This book is about Clara and Robert who marry to avoid Clara’s mother from controlling her. The background story of the uncle continues through this book. A new brother shows up in this book.

I look forward to reading the fifth book in the series.

I love this series and all the characters. This is Robert and Clara’s story and their story began in the previous book and now we are going forward where Robert is helping Clara deal with her mother. Surprises come and they must join together to keep her safe. But there are more surprises coming and who can they trust and who is working for their uncle who is trying to kill them?

It’s a great story and a page turner. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next book.

"Robert was always like that. There anytime she had a need, but never forcing his presence on her."

"He'd spent so many years guarding his words, measuring them out carefully. But with Clara, the truth kept slipping past his defenses."

"Home was not the place you came from. It was the place you built with people you loved."

I think this was the sweetest of the series so far! I absolutely loved Robert and Clara and looked forward to their story since the last book. Robert was so incredibly sweet, thoughtful and protective while desiring to empower Clara - not rule her. And he was so head-over-heals in love! I loved their slow-burn, friends-to-lovers story and their growing communication of their desires. The twist in this one was also quite the unexpected development! I love the themes of family, romance, suspence, faith, survival and resilience in these stories, all in the gorgeous Montana setting.

Thanks so much to Misty M. Beller for the copies of her books in exchange for my honest reviews.

Yes. Another good read in the series. This one a bit different, they address the threat straight up front. You would think that settles things. Right? Nope, like Robert, you are continually waiting for....What does take place in unexpected. A new dilemma to negotiate, plus more. A good read. Enjoyed it.
