Forbidden takes place about five hundred years before the events of The Forsaken, if you haven't picked up The Forsaken yet, I definitely recommend adding it to your list. 'This story dives into the history leading up to the first book, which I really appreciated because it adds so much background and clarity to the world and the events that shaped it. The world-building was incredibly immersive, and the character growth throughout the story was done so well. Every character felt layered and emotional, and there were moments especially near the end that really pulled you into what they were experiencing. The FMC quickly became one of my favorite characters. Watching her grow and seeing her strength and determination really shine by the end it made her stand out even more for me. The MMC experiences so much emotional turmoil throughout the story. loss, love, and constant uncertainty. He's torn between his loyalty to his kingdom and what his heart is telling him to do. Ultimately, he chooses what he believes is best for himself, and I think it was the right call.Now the real challenge is keeping the promise he made. After finishing this one, I'm really curious to see where the series goes next, especially considering how things wrapped up. If you enjoy stories with monsters, wolves, vampires, and a touch of romance and you're looking for something a little different from your usual reads this might be one you'll want to check out.

this book was absolutely amazing, the author truly did not miss a beat with the world building and giving insight with what happened before the events of the forsaken. just like her first book i hooked from the first sentence and loved every bit of it. if your into fantasy, romance, monsters, and badass fight scenes with some strong characters i totally recommend this series!
side note- Cassius the badass man that you are ugh 😍

This is a novella after The Forsaken. Meant to have taken place before. It was just as good as the first! Forbidden love. FMC werewolf princess, MMC vampire prince! Touch her and die vibes.

This book was really good! It gave additional background and helped give insight on what the next book will entail. It was a really good informative novella. There was angst, forbidden love, and a lot of action. The banter between characters was amazing. Overall, I am glad I was given the opportunity to read this for H.N Maupin and learn more about the world she has created.

This was such a great entertaining read! A prequel set 500ish years before The Foresaken. As a novella it was short but did not disappoint in action and feeling! I can’t wait for what is next in this series!

4.5 ⭐️ I was captivated by the story line of this one and this novella was short but did not disappoint. this had amazing characters and great world building. the character growth was well planned out and a this book was well written. I had a great time reading this.
